I really wanted to love this place, the atmosphere is lovely and the presentation is absolutely on point. The food looks incredible... and then you taste it. The chicken Alfredo was the biggest letdown. The noodles themselves were fantastic, perfectly cooked and clearly fresh, but the sauce tasted like something straight out of a jar. Creamy, yes, but flat and lacking that rich, house-made flavor you expect when you're paying restaurant prices. The chicken was fine, not bad, just nothing memorable. The baked pasta (lasagna) dish had that dramatic cheese pull, which is always fun, but again, flavor-wise it was just okay. Not bad, not great, just... there. Overall, nothing tasted awful, but nothing wowed me either. For the price point, I expected more depth, more seasoning, more something. If this were cheaper, I'd probably shrug it off and come back, but as it stands, it didn't feel worth the cost. This spot is a keeper! Made reservation, arrived early, immediately accommodated with our table and within minutes service arrived with bread and water. Our waitress, Neela, was sensitive to our desire to relax over a cocktail before ordering. Once the food arrived the desk was sealed. We dined at Pazzo Italiano on Valentines Day and we were glad to have a reservation. The restaurant is pretty good size and it was nice to see them full. Service : our waitress Alexa started off well, but after we put our order in we didn't see her as much. Not sure if she had to many tables, but it took a while to get a refill on our sodas and our water glasses remained empty and never refilled. Not sure if the food runners were given the wrong table to deliver food to, but our appetizer was delivered to two tables before us and each table said we didn't order that. I know this happened with a few other appetizers that went to the incorrect table. The calamari was perfect with the right amount of breading to each calamari. It wasn't fishy and the marinara sauce had a nice sweet taste. The veal saltimbocca was fair. I've never had it prepared with a dark brown gravy before. The cheese on top was a miss too. It's hard to describe the consistency of it , but something was off. Would I go back ? I would go for appetizers and a drink. A meal possibly not. read more

Solid, not incredible, but for sure a good meal. Months ago I ordered a pizza for pickup, and I wasn't impressed. Our recent dine-in visit, though, did a lot to change my perspective. While the booth seemed a little small for four adults and we had to do regular reorganizing of plates and glasses and serving dishes, it all worked out in general. In short: we were all fairly happy with our meals. The calamari app is generous and well prepared (though one small cup of sauce is nowhere enough for the offering). The capreze salad has almost everything you'd expect - tomatoes and mozzarella on a bed of arugula - but how about a run of olive oil (otherwise, it's pretty dry and the elements don't adhere to the one another and the fork well). The Caesar was as expected, and the garden salad present beautifully, but it fills the bowl, and you can't mix it on the table without creating a mess. It's a good example of 'too much of a good thing.' For mains, we settled on the carbonara, a calzone, and a pizza for the four of us. The carbonara was good, though slightly saucy, but our diner ate all but a few last bites. Plus, the pizza and the calzone were filled with all of the things everyone likes, so we ate most of that (except for a few take-homes to enjoy the next day). Service was better than average, though fairly transactional (which, given the place, was a match for the environment more than the owners / manager might like, but so it goes). Our group of eight arrived promptly at opening time. We had reservations and they had a table set up for us that we didn't care for. They graciously changed to another dining room so we could sit in chairs. We were brought out bread with an olive oil and garlic dipping sauce. No vampires ‍ will get me tonight. We didn't have appetizers and went straight for the entrees. The gluten free PAPPARDELLE Dello Chef was a hit. I've had it several times and always enjoyed it. The spaghetti carbonara was gone! No leftovers at all! The Campanella with shrimp was good and the shrimp were large and plump. I had the veal saltimbucca with angel hair pasta this time and loved it. It was so flavorful and I had a lot of leftovers. The name Saltimbucca means "jump in my mouth". The prosciutto and cheese were perfect. I want to learn to make it at home. I also ordered a side of meatballs and they were not hot, were tough and the sauce needed something. I won't order those again. We also had a spinach salmon salad with strawberries and a dressing. The salmon looked wonderfully cooked and was a very generous serving. Someone else ordered a side of spaghetti with olive oil and garlic and a side salad. It was perfect for her! The service was top notch and we all had a delightful time. We will be back in a couple days as we always go here a couple times when in town. The 20% tip was included on our bill and I left extra. There is a fee for credit cards and since that was already included, I didn't pay cash as I had planned. If you plan a visit, or live here, make it a point to stop here! Let's start with the good! We came during an off season time, made a last minute reservation and were sat right away. The restaurant is pretty big with many areas that can offer a bit more privacy for your meal rather than a big open room. The sangria was delicious, pasta was delectable, the noodles delicate and sauce creamy. Something I wouldn't make at home so was enjoyable to have on a night out! Dessert was great too, the lava cake was the dessert of the day, so not on the menu regularly but I think it should be. Tried the tiramisu and that was tasty too. Now for the areas where I think Pazzo Italiano could improve. After we were sat we got table bread and water but it took about 10 minutes for our server to come over so we could order. Enough time that we were able to select what we wanted for each course of our dinner. The focaccia also seemed to be just pizza dough that they stuck some rosemary on. I was expecting a thick slice but instead got a flat circle pie. It tasted good but did not seem to be focaccia. Overall I would come back and try some other things on the menu. read more

We got takeout from here for our first night at the beach and it was perfect! It was ready sooner than promised, but still very hot when we picked it up. The server accidentally charged us for another table. He told us and gave us a credit receipt showing it had been corrected. However, the credit was never processed. After trying to discuss with the manager for 2 months they finally tell me they will not do the right thing. I'm sure this scam works great on tourists but I live less than one mile from the restaurant. Rest assured that no one from our neighborhood will do business with them anymore. We just had a Celebration of Life reception at Pazzo Italiano and it was PERFECT! Mesi and her staff coordinated with Nancy at St Rita's (just two minutes away) and had a delicious and beautiful buffet waiting for us after the service. The private event room had soft lighting, perfect music and a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The penne alla vodka with chicken (my fave), lasagne, ravioli, amazing garlic rolls, two salads and tiramisu were all excellent. I got the salmone piccante entree with gluten free pasta. It had roasted peppers and mushrooms with the pasta. I was only able to eat half of it so I got a take home box. This is a quiet, cozy, place away from the hustle and bustle of Destin. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. The food was outstanding! I highly recommend getting the Barata as an appetizer. My veal saltimbocca was excellent! My dad's lasagna was loaded with Bolognese and was very tasty. My mom had a Parmesan crusted fish that was topped with an artichoke and crab meat sauce. I'm not a fan of fish for the most part, but I tasted this, and it was also good. It's impossible to choose a dessert here. They are all really good and aren't too heavy. Hands-down the best Italian food I've ever had on this part of the beach.
