I have three words to describe why I love Pazzo: White Clam Pizza. I spent several years in New England and was fortunate enough to have a friend with a beach house near New Haven. Every time we visited, we made a pilgrimage to Pepe's for the signature white clam pizza. If you are a seafood (and especially clam) lover, there is nothing like it. Thin, crispy crust, clams and garlic, and (I think) a smattering of cheese. Sublime. I have lived in the Bay Area now for almost 35 years and have no reason to return to New Haven, but I have never stopped craving Pepe's Pizza. We even talked about doing a "food tour" of New England just to sample all that East Coast seafood. Now I don't need to! I've had Pazzo's white clam pizza three times and it is as good as the Pepe's pizza I remember. Cooked to crispy perfection, jammed with sweet clams, sprinkled with garlic and oh my, it is perfect. My husband has had other pizzas at Pazzo, and all of his have been delicious as well. On top of that, the restaurant itself is fun. Excellent -- and I mean excellent service staff -- tables not too close together, loads of families and couples. Just fun. You can even watch the pizza-makers at work, an added bonus. read more

Every time I eat at Pazzo I am reminded of how amazing this restaurant is. All the pasta are made from scratch, the pizza is just the best, with the perfect amount of blistering on the crust. Even the way they cut their gulf shrimp into a sort of spiral shape that just soaks up the sauce in the linguine or the shrimp & grits. Everyone who works there seems to enjoy what they do and they do it so well. This is the best Italian place on the peninsula for sure (and probably much farther out). They are currently open for takeout only during Covid, and I cannot wait to eat inside again sometime hopefully soon. read more

This has been our new favorite Italian spot on the Peninsula. We have our favorites in the city (Beretta, A Mano, Barzotto) but sometimes we don't feel like driving so far and look for parking. We've only ever ordered during Covid so we're excited once everything opens up again to actually eat there. But everything is still yummy even if we don't eat it immediately. Usually when we order on the weekends, we have to wait an hour/hour and half for the pizza which is fine but take that into account before you order. We love the cauliflower and magherita pizza. Pazzo has always been a favorite, and I am so glad they reopened beyond take-out recently. I went to dinner recently with my husband. We both chose pastas and shared. The spaghetti has always been my go-to (which we had), but they also had a pesto tagliatelle which we ordered and IT WAS DELICIOUS! It was my first time having it and I hope it becomes a staple on their menu! Andrew, the manager, was our server and recommended a great wine to go with our pastas. He was very kind and checked in on us throughout the meal. I love the quaint family-vibe the restaurant had and I can't wait to go back to have the pesto again. Decent food but didn't blow my mind. We had the linguine which I thought would be a white sauce but it wasn't, more of a gravy instead. I was initially disappointed but I actually ended up thinking that it was delicious and still very creamy. We also got the toy box tomato pizza which was nice and cheesy but also more greasy than I would have liked. Good service but they were sooooo busy when we went. I LOVE this place!! Been here twice - once with my girlfriends - loved it so much had to bring my family - and I'm already planning another dinner her with another group of friends... WHY do I love this place? It's the food, service and atmosphere... Their clam pizza is SO good! got it both times - and it was delicious both times.. actually the 2nd time was better as the first time the crust got a bit soggy - but the 2nd time it was perfect, even the left overs! My kids loved the fennel sausage pizza with the egg on top - it was very different with egg - and it was SO GOOD! Overall, this one was too heavily loaded with cream and the shrimp didn't taste very fresh. Didn't like addition of beans to it either. This is the only place you should get Italian food in the area! Every dish is fresh and delicious and service is great! Also make sure to listen to the special of the day! Service is very attentive and waiters are quick to refill waters and answer any questions or needs. Make a reservation to guarantee seating as its popularity is growing as expected. We started with the crispy cauliflower and the kale salad which were both so simple but amazing! The cauliflower is very unique and I highly recommend for a light and refreshing starter! The main dishes we got were the San marzano pizza and the ricotta gnocchi! I love this style of pizza with the charred edges and it was cooked to perfection! This is a great pizza for those who don't like too much cheese yet still want a lot of flavor! The gnocchi is indescribable as it melts in your mouth! You have to order for your self to see how fresh and soft it is -- a must try especially for any one coming for their first time! The thing is that they don't have a dessert menu, but typically a have super yummy creamy Tiramisu, ricotta cheesecake, and various gelato: salty caramel, pistachio, vanilla. Reasonable prices are a plus. I tried different desserts on different occasions and I'm happy to report that all of them are incredibly good! My personal favorite us ricotta cheesecake. I think they make it themselves, which adds an awesome freshness to it. The crust had some nuts i think, and they serve it with walnuts and nougat. My husband loves the Tiramisu. Very gentle and creamy texture, yummy flavor. You have to try it! The interior of the restaurant is really ambient and it feels homy. The server is an extra sweet young guy. Went in for an early dinner on Friday night and that was a good decision. They get filled pretty quickly, a reservation is recommended. I ordered the eggplant pizza. The pizza is good for sharing between two and it was enjoyable. The sauce was not overpowering and the eggplant taste came through very nicely. It was thin crust and crisp. The cheese was yum. 1 star is even too much! I went there for dinner on Thursday night ten days ago. We arrived, waited for a table, got one and then ordered 2 pizzas and a beer. The beer arrived pretty quickly. The pizzas no. After 45 minutes the waitress told us that our pizza were coming "right away". Ok.... Then more than 5 minutes later, he stopped by and told us that there was a mistake and our pizzas will come in 10 minutes. We protested as we had been waiting for an hour now and we told him that he could at least bring a piece of bread. And then, out of nowhere, a man (owner? Manager? Who knows) arrived on my back and started to yell on my husband's face. He cursed a lot, said that no one could treat his employees as we did and said that we should leave. Beyond that, this place was personally recommended to me by someone who grew up in San Carlos and says this is the place he frequents when he goes on dates. I came here one Saturday night, the place was loud and packed, and we waited 25 minutes for a seat. However, we were quite looking forward to give this place a try. Among the 3 of us, we ordered 2 pizzas and a kale salad. The kale salad was overpriced, but not bad. Now, onto the pizzas - we ordered a margarita pizza and a clam pizza. The clam pizza was mediocre. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't taste like clams at all, instead, it just tasted like a cheesy pizza. Maybe reminiscent of a clam linguine with white sauce. Overall, pretty edible. Now the margherita pizza. Wow, this was embarrassingly bad. Tasted like something you may be able to get at Dominos for a fraction of the price. There was almost no bazil on it; this was really nothing more than an unimpressive cheese pizza. Very disappointing. As I like to say, places like this get deceptively high reviews in the Bay Area (suburb, might I add, not SF), but if it was a restaurant in NYC, I think it'd be out of business. read more

The toppings plus the size of the pizza is generous. Flavors were incredible on my fennel sausage pizza and my friends white potato pie was also delicious. Kind of lame that this place is only open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday. I would love to come here for lunch too. The first time I noticed this place was when I was walking to some Chinese restaurant on the same block. I'm so glad I finally got to try this place. We called and made a reservation at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Didn't seem that crowded around 7pm so a reservation might not be necessary but it never hurts. With any Italian restaurant I feel that's only appropriate to try their meatballs to set the tone for the meal. The meatballs al forno is amazing. You get 4 meatballs with a 2 pieces of toast. The meatballs were seasoned very well and the cheese and tomato sauce was out of control. Everyone needs to get this an an appetizer. They really should give you 4 pieces of toast. I was able to use my napkin to dip in the sauce because it was that good. Along with the shrimp and gritts! Photos of the shrimp and grits got me hooked on coming here and it was not a disappointment. Nothing better than fried polenta with shrimp. The shrimp tasted super fresh, the only thing I wish they would change about it is the portion because I could not have enough. It's good but not another $12 dollars good. My friends ordered the house fennel sausage pizza and the margherita pizza. Both good but on the sausage pizza was a bit burnt so it had a bitter kick to it. Another friend ordered the spinach ravioli which was a special that day, it was good but nothing really that unique about it. I honestly enjoyed the appetizers much more than the entrees. I can't say enough good things about Pazzo. I recently moved to San Carlos from SF and Pazzo is one of the few places down here that easily rivals the best food spots in the city. Our rating is on the Fennel Sausage Pizza but we can't wait to try the other menu offerings. We ordered on line which didn't give me the opportunity to choose a pick up time so I called and the Dude I talked to was so upbeat and helpful and told me he could let the kitchen know we wanted a 6:15 pick up. We added a focaccia bread for another meal and I had to taste it because I had to even though my pizza was right there and I was floored.
