Perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion in Half Moon Bay! We came here for dinner and were immediately impressed by the beautiful ambiance. The restaurant is aesthetically stunning, with an open kitchen where you can watch multiple chefs making pizzas, preparing desserts, and crafting dishes right in front of you, it really adds to the experience. We started with the tempura stuffed ricotta squash blossoms and the pea & fava dish. The pea & fava was incredibly flavorful, made with French feta, lemon zest, and mint, it was absolutely extraordinary and one of my favorite dishes of the night. Everyone raved about the pizzas, so we had to try one. We ordered the Spicy Rock Shrimp Pizza, entres included Moon Chicken Parmesan, and Ravioli. Their pizza crust is hand made and very thin and soft. Every dish was delicious, and there wasn't a single disappointment. Their drinks were great too. We had a reservation and were seated immediately with no wait. The only downside was the seating arrangement. Our table for five was quite long, making it feel less intimate and comfortable since we were seated far apart. The customer service was excellent throughout the evening, making the experience even more enjoyable. Came here to celebrate Mother's Day with treasured family. The place was filled with lots of other families celebrating Mother's Day as well, but we were able to get a nice table that didn't feel crowded. Unfortunately service was pretty slow, likely related to it being a packed restaurant. We managed to get our orders in after 30 minutes of wait then finding a staff member, but after then we were more attentive and proactive about making sure our table wasn't forgotten again. The food was interesting. It was too oily for my tastes, which is likely a direct result of my choices to get a brown butter-based butternut squash ravioli and friend green tomatoes. Something to be aware of when selecting your own menu choices (something I wish our party had more carefully considered, especially since someone had to run to the bathroom an hour later). A lot of the negative experience here is hopefully explainable due to the special circumstances of it being a special event. However, since we paid a premium for Mother's Day seating, and that the venue knew the number of guests to expect, that bumps my score from a 3 to a 2. read more

The best American Italian restrauant I've had. The outside looks very much like Bridges, that restaurant from Mrs. Doubtfire. Well decorated inside and out. The service is A+++++ our server new every detail about each dish. It's incredients, it's portion, everything. He was attentive and kind too, made us smile with jokes sometimes. The food was fantastic. We got the corn and crab soup (could have used more crab) the squash blossoms, well flavored, well stuffed, huge in portion, split the mushroom tagliatelle, and some kind of dessert. Stick to splitting one appetizer and one pasta and you will be full. Huge portions, low prices. Cannot recommend this place enough. It is not child friendly. Despite the heavy rain, we traveled one hour to Pasta Moon for my celebratory Birthday luncheon. Where to begin? Location is very close to the shops and stores. But I love that Pasta Moon has a parking lot and the restaurant itself is very spacious. It's very charming and romantic, the lighting, the decor, and the space in between so that each table has privacy -- all very calming vibes. Very welcoming and relaxing environment. Our hostess was incredibly kind and bubbly. As we were first time diners at Pasta Moon; we asked about the entrees and she took the time to explain to us. We decided to go with the popular ones -- Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lobster Linguine and Tagliatelle Bolognese. All very popular entrees but my favorite was the Bolognese. I enjoyed trying the Butternut Squash Ravioli but it was my least favorite, the Lobster Linguine did have a fair share of lobster but the sauce was bland. I enjoyed the Tagliatelle Bolognese and that was my favorite entree. After lunch, we ordered the Mascarpone Cheesecake, this was so incredibly delicious. The best dessert ever -- cheesecake with chocolate sauce, with roasted nuts. Lovely dessert to end the meal! As we had celebrated my Birthday, before we left, our hostess gifted me a bag of biscottis. I appreciated the lovely gesture! Came here around 7pm because I was in the area and severely craving butternut squash ravioli. The restaurant was beautiful and spacious, and our servers were so welcoming and kind. If you take a look at my reviews, you might notice that I have been on the search for the best pesto gnocchi and the best butternut squash ravioli. The ravioli here at Pasta Moon most likely takes the #1 spot. I'm not sure what the crumble on top of the ravioli is, but it almost tasted like brown sugar. I was very impressed with how well the squash and mascarpone blended and tasted together. I honestly wanted to come back the next day. Came here for a celebratory dinner with some family. It's a little bit of nicer spot and made celebrating an occasion feel more special. There are a bunch of different seating areas and the one we were in we had almost to ourselves. It was a little more quiet and closed off than the main dining room. There were four of us, and with so much on the menu we wanted to try, we opted to share a bunch of things from the menu. To start we got the Nectarine salad and Squash blossoms. Nectarine salad was a hit, and the squash blossoms were good, but not my personal favorite. For mains we got the Pappardelle Pancetta, Swordfish (special for the day), Spinach linguine with Manila clams, and Tagliatelle Bolognese. The Pappardelle Pancetta was one of the best pastas I've ever had. I was glad there was plenty of it to go around, because upon my first bite of it, it was favorite thing I had tried and I knew I'd be wanting a lot more of it. The Bolognese was also good and the pasta was cooked perfectly, but after having the Pappardelle Pancetta, it just couldn't stand up to it for me. The Spinach linguine with Manila clams was a little disappointing. The dish wasn't super flavorful and didn't feel all that cohesive. It did come with some big clams which was nice, but I would personally skip this one next time. Swordfish would've been a good size for 1 or 2 to share if you were getting other things as well. Fish is always hard to split amongst that many people. It was quite good though, as was the sauce it was served atop. Service was great, and after trying a few wines we found one we liked to enjoy the bottle of. Excited to some back and get the Pappardelle Pancetta again! read more

I had bookmarked Pasta Moon for a long time after hearing so many positive things, so we chose to come here for Mother's Day lunch. We were initially very excited, as the interior is beautiful, cozy, modern, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. It started with something simple: drinks. We were offered water, so we also asked for hot water and coffee in addition to iced water, but the busboy responded with, "I only do water," which was fine. However, the two water cups he brought were visibly dirty with stains both inside and out. We wanted to ask for replacements, but couldn't find him again for nearly 15 minutes. When our server came to take our order, we mentioned the cups, and she said she would ask the busboy to come over. About 15 minutes later, she returned with appetizers, but still no busboy. We asked again if someone could replace the cups, and she finally waved the busboy down. Even though he was already standing right beside our table, instead of addressing the issue directly, she pointed at us and told him to "ask them." When we explained the stains, the busboy initially argued and said, "I don't see it," and we had to point them out before he reluctantly agreed to replace the cups. Ironically, one of the replacement cups still had brown bits floating inside, but at that point we just gave up. During the meal, we also tried to order a cup of coffee. The server simply said, "hold on," and never came back. Throughout the entire lunch, she never once checked on our table, despite checking on nearby tables multiple times and repeatedly walking past ours. What stood out even more was overhearing another table next to us complain that they had been seated for 30 minutes and were still waiting to order. Instead of apologizing or showing any empathy, the server smiled and responded with, "good." By the end of the meal, we had to ask another staff member just to get our check. Only then did the server finally reappear and casually ask if we needed anything else. The food itself was average at best and nowhere near memorable enough to make up for the experience. Between the poor service, lack of attentiveness, and cleanliness concerns, this was deeply disappointing, especially for a place with such a strong reputation. We were a large party (9 people ) and we made advance reservations here for a birthday celebration. We were given an almost private room with beautiful Christmas decorations. We started with some drinks which were really good and appetizers. The fried Brussels sprouts were so light and crunchy, we loved them ! We got a bunch of entrees - the butternut squash ravioli was really good, so was the pizza. Overall food was amazing and we had a great time ! For dessert we ordered the pear and ice cream dessert, tiramisu and molten chocolate cake. All of those were also amazing. We shared a Della Casa salad - yum - my favorite. I ordered the salmon with ratatouille and tabbouleh; and he ordered the lasagna - absolutely delicious - the salmon was cooked perfectly - I would definitely order it again. After strolling and shopping nearby we came over to Pasta Moon for dinner. We had previously been to their old location many years before, but haven't been back until now. This new location is a lot grander and more beautiful with a parking lot in the back. But even with the parking lot, we had to park across the street because the lot was full at the time we arrived. We checked in and got seated outside with my pup, the heat lamp was turned on for us as it was chilly. Complimentary bread with olive oil and vinegar provided to our table. My friend got the pea & fava. It was delicious, light and refreshing. I got the Pasta Moon Clam Chowder which is a New England Clam Chowder with pancetta. It's really good. Got lots of clam meats and the pancetta adds a great texture and flavor to it. For entree, my friend got the Spaghetti Puttanesca and I got the Center-cut pork chop. She said that spaghetti puttanesca was really delicious with lots of mussels. I really like the pork chop, but it was a bit too sweet with the stuffed pear. The corn puddin is like cornbread. I've been coming to Pasta Moon through multiple phases of my life. I grew up coming here with my dad and brother after we spent the day at a Half Moon Bay beach at their old location (they've since moved.) I came here with my new grad friends on a day trip from SF early in the pandemic. And I came here recently with my partner on a long weekend day trip down to HMB! We parked on a residential street a few blocks away and walked, but they have a nice parking lot. Service is very good and friendly and I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time just in case. Both the interior and exterior are elevated yet welcoming. They have fresh seafood, yummy free bread, unique drinks, and a pretty nice charcuterie board. With my partner, we shared 2 pastas: Tagliatelle Scallop - Sweet Com, Smoked Prosciutto, Roasted Red Bell Pepper, Lemon, cilantro ($42) and Linguine Ahi Tuna * Garlic, Anchovy, Capers, Oil Cured Olives, Red Chili Flakes, EVOO, Lemon Garlic Toasted Bread Crumbs ($38). Both were house made, delicious, and different. I preferred the overall flavor of the tagliatelle scallop, but the unique linguine of the ahi tuna linguine was better overall pasta. Portions were large and they did not skimp on seafood when they could've in the linguine, but the overall number of scallops were lacking in the tagliatelle (though the scallops were large.) Flavors were good and not overwhelming. My one complaint is when eating outside, there was a pesky bee! Will keep coming back. read more

I loved everything about this restaurant! I came with my family including an 8&10 year old even after reading reviews that they weren't very kid friendly. I found the exact opposite to be true! The hostess complimented by boys dressed up styles they had kids menus and crayons and our server was very kind when my son spilled a little water. I would say very family friendly ambiance. All of our food was delicious except we did not enjoy the Caesar salad. It was just too heavy on the anchovies for our taste but presentation was nice. The lemon dessert was phenomenal. So when my friend was in town and staying in Half-Moon Bay, we jumped to make reservations for a party of 3 for Thursday at 6:30 pm. The decor of this place was beautiful, given the string lights and their preparation for Valentine's Day. What we ordered: - Ribollitta ~ a light vegetable soup for a starter. Served with bread at the bottom of the soup bowl, the texture of the soggy, spongy untoasted white bread was unappealing. - Affettati Platter ~ this was a miss. Roasted garlic was served whole and refrigerated cold. When attempting to retrieve the roasted garlic cloves, only oil came out, which was packed away and transferred to our grapes. Large Parmesan slices were served. We even got rind on a piece. - Roasted Beets Salad ~ refreshing appetizer for the table to share, burrata was very smooth and creamy, which added to the fresh texture of the beets. - Pappardelle Pancetta ~ for a dish recommended by three different servers, this dish was disappointing. Despite the fragrant ingredients listed in this dish, the flavor fell flat, and we had to confirm with each other that we didn't really taste anything. The pasta itself, however, was made beautifully and retains the perfect texture. - Pear and prosciutto de Parma pizza ~ the thin style crusted was great for texture and crunch. However, the pizza's flavor also fell flat. With caramelized onion and pear serving as the sweet components to pair with the prosciutto, the sweetness wasn't detected, nor was the saltiness from the prosciutto. All in all, our experience at this place was disappointing. Texturally, the dishes were great! Crunchiness from the pizza was satisfying. And the perfect bite/bounce to the pasta supports their statement that pasta is made fresh every day. However, the entire experience left us questioning if our taste buds were off or if the dishes lacked flavor and salt. Went to Pasta Moon this weekend with family and had a lovely experience overall. The decor was super cute and cozy, still dressed up with Christmas touches, which made it feel festive and warm. The pasta is definitely the standout here. We ordered the pappardelle ragù and a mushroom pasta (can't remember the exact name), and both were well executed and flavorful. That said, it did feel a bit pricey for the portion sizes. We also tried a pizza, which was solid and enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. I've written about my experience in an earlier review -- the food and service here are nice for HMB but unexceptional for Italian food in the Bay Area. Honestly, it was one of the more mid meals I've had recently, with slightly overcooked pasta coated in a fairly bland sauce. Beautiful views though! I was surprised to notice that their website lists an image of the Michelin Guide two stars. Pasta Moon has not earned any Michelin stars (and to my knowledge never has). They don't even have a Bib Gourmand distinction (less than a star but still an accolade). The restaurant is *listed* in the Michelin guide, which is a prestigious level of recommendation from Michelin, though below the distinction of Bib Gourmand or any number of stars. If you search reviews for this restaurant for "Michelin" you'll find a lot of people mention being under the impression that Pasta Moon had earned Michelin star(s), which I suspect they inferred from the use of this graphic on their site. I don't know if it's an accident -- like someone just grabbed a random Michelin graphic to put on the site to show they were listed in the guide, not realizing that the two stars indicate a level of award they have not received. The Spaghetti Puttanesca looked wonderful, but unfortunately, some of the mussels tasted very fishy. Not surprised, mussels can go bad quite quickly! My advice is to be cautious when ordering this dish or inform the host/hostess. Clam chowder was great! They were accommodating to let us pick where we want to sit which I really appreciated. We sat down near a window and were greeted by our server. We quickly found out that he was new because he wasn't able to answer any of our questions. So from the first drink and appetizer, we just decided for ourselves without getting any help from the server. We ordered olives, bruschetta & clam shower to start. All were okay. Olives seemed a little old. Bruschetta taste was masked by the burrata cheese and served on a big piece of bread. Just many too. Clam chowder was delicious. It wasn't until the hostess came by to check on us to realize we didn't have any bread. So they served us after the appetizer. This made us realize they could have been short on staff or potentially our server was struggling to keep up. It has been slow with a few apologies. After my husband got the bolognese & I got the pappardelle. Both really good! I LOVE creamy tomato & mushrooms so it really was the perfect dish for us. My husband's drink was dry for along time with no ask for another one. So in a normal experience where he would have had 2, he enjoyed 1. Dessert was the best part! Truffle hazelnut cake. One of the best desserts I've ever had. Not the best experience for an anniversary dinner but most of the food was really good and I'm sure there are way more delicious items on the menu. read more

On the weekends open for lunch from 11:30 -2:00. Went for lunch today, we had the Clam Chowder, Ceasar Salad, Salt Spring Mussels and the Tagliatelle Bolognese.
