Pazzo has fabulous tomato pies! It's crispy, low flop, and the sauce is just so flavorful. Pair it with an Italian Lager or Pilsner and you're good to go! One small tip - for crispy pizza lovers out there, ask for your pie extra crispy. A few years ago they used to do it for each pie but I suppose based on their client's tastes, they've softened up the crusts a little. Once you ask for extra crispy, they know they gotta make it more New Haven style. Also, do not miss out on their amazing cheesecake and cannoli! Consistency is everything and 2.5 years later, Pazzo is still killing it! We went there last night and I'm so happy they are back to in-room dining. The service here is excellent and the pizza is off the charts good! It's a thin crust, lightly charred and I know this sounds crazy but it's very light. Their pizza is not a gut bomb, it's just plain and simple delicious and fresh. We also have a cannoli for dessert which was outstanding. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even came by to ask about drinks let alone to take our order. This place was hopping on a Friday night. Service staff sufficiently attentive. On the food, ordered the arancini, caeser, and one of the pizzas. The first two were delicious. The pizza was the downfall, not sure if it was an off night. The sauce was on the light end. The plate facing surface of the pizza was covered with burnt flour. It was impossible to get off. Any toppings that fell on the serving dish could not be eaten as it would be covered with burnt flour. We brought most of the pizza home and it was soggy even after reheating in oven. read more

This pizza is soooo good!! It has been on my radar for a while, and I recently finally tried it on my way home from dropping off my roommate at SFO - it's not too far from 101 so was perfectly situated in the middle of my drive home. I ordered the eggplant & peppers pizza. Anything with eggplant will get me. A polarizing vegetable but definitely top 5 in my opinion. Pazzo is currently takeout only, so don't plan on dining in (although check to see if this has changed!). My pizza was delicious. The crust was super thin, sauce really flavorful, and just the right amount of cheese and toppings. You don't need to overdo it, especially with such a thin crust. The cheese on the eggplant & pepper pizza is actually smoked mozzarella, which I wasn't initially sold on, but it really added a great flavor to the whole pie. I think the eggplants could have been cooked just a tad more, but that wasn't a dealbreaker. After my 18-minute drive home the temp was just a tad lower than I would have liked, so now I know for next time... just scarf this down in my car. And I won't be ashamed. There are a few more pizzas on the menu I'm interested in trying, so I'll be back! read more

We actually were just about to leave when our table opened up. Food is amazing! We understand why it's so popular! Party of 7 and we basically order something of everything to share family style. Appetizers: Crispy Cauliflower , meatballs . The sauce for the meatballs is amazing! Beet salad - delicious & refreshing! Pastas: shared Cavatelli & the rigatoni dishes and could've had just either of those alone, lol. Pizzas shared: New Haven clam pie (yum!), Eggplants & Peppers (double yum), and Pepperoni. HOLY MOLY!!!! This place was fantastic!!! I had to give it a rare 5 stars. We came here because we saw this on one of Guy Fieri's shows. Am I glad we did. The place is not only very clean, but the decor is beautiful. We arrived and were met by our server. I think his name was Axel. He was awesome. He was right on top of things. We were served a great Caesar salad that had just the right amount of dressing. I would have liked a little more anchovy flavor, but still good. We ordered the bread app. Well worth the $3. Their roasted bread was served with a walnut sun dried tomato spread. Excellent. The bread was incredible. Then we had the smoked bucatini and the branzano. Fabulous! The bucatini is a smoked pasta. The flavor was excellent. Don't be put off by the word smoked. It was just a hint, but so flavorful. I could have literally drank the sauce. The fish was a light white fish. No fishy taste at all. Arrived right when they opened at 5pm. Within 10 minutes of opening the restaurant was completely filled. Always get here early and make a reservation. People tend to hang out after eating. The interior is cozy. Small and intimate. Roaring fire in the background. Super nice servers and hostess. All of whom are probably high school and college kids. Very polite. We ordered the spaghetti and meatball, two cavatelli, ravioli special with white sauce and a two pizzas. I'm surprised to say this but the spaghetti was by far my favorite. The spaghetti noodles were thicker than traditional noodles. In a sexy, little spicy tomato cream sauce. It only came with one meatball which was delish. Wish it came with more meatballs as they were a highlight. Meatball was thick and juicy, without being heavy and dense. Just full of flavor. My bestie loves their cavatelli and it gets rave reviews on Yelp. I wasn't blown away by it. The pork ragu sauce was missing seasoning and herbs. Tasted bland and the pork wasn't tender enough. The cavatelli was gummy and gnocchi like and I don't like gnocchi. Would pass on this and try another pasta dish as they have so many to choose from. The pizza was bomb. Got a margarita and a sausage and mushroom. Tasted best right there out the oven. Brought pizza home and it just didn't maintain its luster. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner from Pazzo last night. But please note it's still only takeout at this time. He ordered the gnocchi and the shrimp and grits and the Toy Box Tomato pizza. (Pizza to take home) I ordered the cesear salad without croutons and the shrimp and grits- I have celiac so needs to be gluten free. The shrimp and grits are AMAZING!! I super highly recommend!! My BF said the same. I could have eaten two orders of it! The staff were all incredibly friendly. We had a glass of wine and a beer for him outside while waiting for the food. Somehow my husband hears about this place, so we decided to stop in on a Saturday evening sans reservations (around 6:30). There was a 45 minute wait, and just as we were about to give up and try our luck elsewhere, my husband decided to call (after about 50 minutes) and see our place on the list. We were told that it would be another 10 minutes or so. Ten minutes later we got a phone call, and our table was ready. Our actual meal was about as long as our wait! Our waitress was quick and attentive. We ordered basil lemonade (very basil-y...I don't think I need to order this again), fennel sausage pizza, and rigatoni. Our food was out in less than 12 minutes. Wow! As far as food as concerned, the sausage was tasty. The pizza is thin, and while we probably could have eaten less of it and taken the rest home, we realized the pizza probably wouldn't have held up for a midnight snack or breakfast. While it was a good pizza, most of my toppings slid right off and the crust was flimsy. I ended up eating most of my slices with a knife and fork so I wouldn't have sauce and cheese all over my faces and the walls of the establishment. The rigatoni was pasta was okay. It was very "light" as far as pasta and sauces go. The broccoli and spinach also tastes very green. I would have liked for those veggies to be seasoned before being tossed into the pasta--or maybe just the rigatoni and sausage. I could have done without the greens. Overall, the food was okay and the service was pretty good. I'm not sure this will be my go to spot for pizza or pasta in the future, but I will definitely visit again. read more

An Instagram post by Kenji Lopez of Serious Eats fame was how I found out about Pazzo. He posted a picture of a perfectly bubbly, charred Sausage and Mushroom pizza from Pazzo - with this dark red, spicy looking sauce. He sung the praises of this pizza and I knew I had to have that very pizza. So I went and got me one. And a few pasta dishes to go with it. Here's what we had: FENNEL SAUSAGE PIZZA (5/5) I used to *not* be ok with the char that you find on an artisan-style pizza that you find at Pazzo. But over the years, I've come to love and appreciate it. No my friends, it's not burnt. It's flavorful char that comes from a screeching hot oven. I find that it enhances the flavor of the pizza but if you don't, then when you order, ask that they take out the pizza early to avoid the char. Another good thing about this pizza - the crust held its own. It never got soggy! We ate the leftover slices the next day and the pizza and all the toppings were *still* right where they were supposed to be! I hate those flimsy slices where the toppings slip and slide off the pizza. You know what I'm talking about. This pizza was put together right! RIGATONI (5/5) This was our favorite. It tastes just like it looks in the picture. So satisfying. Fennel sausage and broccolini in the mix - very little sauce but it was delicious, mostly pasta water and drippings from the sausage and broccolini. Lots of parmesan. Just perfect. CAVATELLI (1/5) This was the only loser dish. The pork was super fatty and I spit out the pieces I tried to eat. I didn't like the taste, and I didn't like the smell of the dish either. No one touched this dish. I have no idea if this dish is supposed to taste this way or if something went wrong in the kitchen on this particular night. I would not order this again and would not recommend it. SPAGHETTI (4/5) Fresh pasta, with a fresh tasting, simple sauce. It's a little bit of a drive to San Carlos from San Jose, but it's worth the drive. I'm going back next time to get the SAUSAGE PIZZA again, and the RIGATONI. Those two are winners - you can't go wrong with these two. The pasta suffered a bit sitting in the to-go boxes cooking a bit more than they should have. Slightly over-cooked for that reason but I'm excited to dine-in when the Covid restrictions go away because I know the al-dente factor will be perfect. Excited about my next visit! read more
