EGGPLANT CAPONATINA
Hope M.

The vibes in the restaurant are nice but the service was so slow. The CAPONATINA was interesting. There was a lot of capers and it was lacking eggplants. They also served this with a sliced loaf of bread similar to what you'd make a sandwich with. This was so strange to me! The menu said it was paired with a crostini and normally crostinis are crispy on a baguette of sorts. The Bartender pizza came out cold and it was spicy exactly how it was described on the menu. We loved the spicy hit. Overall not super impressed with the restaurant and probably won't come back. Sad because we really wanted a good local pizza spot!

Another great meal at Delarosa in Palo Alto. We have been here several times now and it's been great.

We've been to their Marina location in San Francisco a couple times and have enjoyed it. So happy they opened up a location closer. We came on a Wednesday evening for dinner. Decently busy for a week night. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. The man who gave us our table was really nice too. They have a children's menu - with crayons. Nice touch. Food was food. We got a children's cheese pizza, fungi with sausage, and a Cesar salad. The Cesar salad was great - I wanted to have the whole thing myself. Plenty of restrooms - stalls. Do plan to return.

We were excited to have one open up in the South Bay. The last time I've eaten at Delarosa was 12 years ago in SF. Reservations were easy through OpenTable. The restaurant is nice and bright. There's outdoor seating but noticed the sun can be a problem, as I watch this family of 3 go back and forth, deciding full sun or partial sun. They picked full sun but half way, they moved. It's a nice and bright restaurant. Service was good, the manager checked in with us several times. All our dishes were great. My fave was the burratta w/ hazelnut & honey.

This location used to be a CPK. In retrospect, I kinda wish it was still that based on my first and only visit here. Although we were quickly seated, our server was nowhere to be seen for over 15 mins. We were about to get up and leave when we decided to flag down another server (Xavier?). He was apologetic, took our drink orders, and went about trying to get our server. Said server still did not show up, so Xavier (?) took our order when he brought our drinks. Our Beet salad shortly arrived and we wondered where our Onion Focaccia was going to show up. Well, it showed up just before our pizza showed up. Talk about most of the items being premade! While the salad was good tasting, the Onion Focaccia was not that. It was simply pizza dough with pieces of onion on it. We were expecting it to be typical light and airy type of bread. The pizza tasted okay as well, nothing memorable. Overall, we were not impressed by the service or food. The only saving grace from us walking out was Xavier being so kind as to back up our server.

Happy with this new addition to the Stanford shopping center. Wonderful spot to sit down after waking around the mall. I really enjoyed my glass of Sangiovese - a full bodied red without a tannin finish. The beet salad was great - I do get beet salads often and liked that it came with kale along with farro which made it just a tasty and hearty salad. Normally I'm just trying to stuff some greens down before the pizza but I could've even used more of the salad ! (Comes in both a small and the large , and the large wasn't that large) The have a kids menu - and my son enjoyed his meatballs from that menu, which was also a mini coloring packet We thought the marguerita pizza was perfect . The crust was thin but held the toppings well enough with a nicely puffed crust . We added mushrooms which came with a nice exotic array of mushrooms, not the usual button mushrooms . The pasta dish we got was also super tasty and addictive. Overall will definitely be back to try more dishes !

Great food and great flavors! Price is surprisingly pretty good for the Palo Alto/Stanford area (low $20s for my pasta dish pre-tax). Staff are nice and food and drinks came out quickly.

Girl dinner is in full effect here. They even have a menu dedicated to it! Amongst the fries, salad, and drinks, they have a full array of menu items from pastas to pizzas to small plates. I would describe their dishes as simple Italian inspired dishes that are made to order. All the starters that my table ordered were great! They each came with their own unique aioli sauce. The Caesar could use some work as it was quite plain. Will need to try the pizza next time. Their drinks and mocktails were delightful. Both the food and drinks came out incredibly fast and staff was excellent. There is something for everyone's taste and will fuel you right back up after a day of shopping. Delarosa takes over the previous CPK.

Very impressed and I mean very impressed. Prices for these quality pizzas should be considered illegal. In the Bay Area where a sucker is born every minute this place will deliver the good and not make you feel ripped off. Service was friendly, and man these were some good pizzas. As someone who has been to Italy numerous times, this place hit the spot in reminding me of my times there. If you like authentic wood fire oven pizza, then this place will deliver.

My husband and I had a date at their San Francisco location years ago and I remember enjoying it. So I had to book a reservation for their Palo Alto location. It's much closer to home too! I booked it for 12:30pm on a Saturday for outdoor seating. I saw that they offer Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm. Delarosa Palo Alto is located at Stanford Shopping Mall so parking SUCKS on weekends. My husband had to drop me off so I could make our reservation. The hostess who led me to our outside table wasn't very friendly.. she seemed annoyed the whole encounter and didn't give us any menus. I had to eventually walk back inside to ask for them. It also took foreverrr for our server to come around to take our order. We were hangry at that point. We ordered.. CAESAR SALAD $9 -little gem lettuce, caesar dressing, croutons, parmesan cheese. Very refreshing, the lettuce was crisp and I loved the croutons. There wasn't enough caesar dressing though, so a lot of pieces were just plain lettuce. I would have loved this dish if there was more dressing! Maybe some freshly cracked pepper too. 3.5/5* CRAB ARANCINI (4) $13 -served with calabrese aioli. The arancini was a bit dense and heavy but I enjoyed the real crab. The fried coating was crunchy but also thick. Kinda plain overall but the aioli helped. It had a nice spicy kick. 3.5/5* FRITTO MISTO $15 -fried calamari, shishito peppers, served with herb aioli. I really enjoyed the crispy light batter. A squeeze of their grilled lemon made it brighter. I liked the variety and would switch up between the calamari and shishito peppers. Aioli didn't have much flavor though. 4/5* RIGATONCINI $20 -vodka sauce, pancetta. Vodka sauce was good but light, pancetta was tasty and the pasta was al dente. Wished the dish came out hotter, it was just warm. 3.5/5* MARGHERITA PIZZA $18 -marinara sauce, mozzarella, basil. Good marinara. Nice chewy crust with a char. It held up well. Simple. 4/5* The food came out pretty quickly but we got the pasta by itself first. Followed by the fried appetizers and then the salad. Which I thought was weird.. but whatever, we were so hungry. When we were done, we couldn't find our server anywhere. After almost 10 minutes of waiting, I got up to look for him and he peeked his head out of the restaurant door, just as I was about to walk over. Maybe because it's prime lunch time or just short staffed but it seemed so disorganized. Overall I enjoyed the food, good but pretty simple. It's a nice addition to Stanford Shopping Mall. But service DEFINITELY needs improvement. I haven't had service that nonexistent in a longgggg time.

Girl Dinner $25 (martini, Caesar salad, and truffle Parmesan fries)

Service was amazing from the hostess to server. Food came out FAST. Everything tasted amazing. And we wanted for nothing. Nowadays I am looking for family friendly establishments that do provide toddler friendly amenities without losing the feeling of having an adult meal. I think Delarosa - ESPECIALLY this location was great. There is a kids menu with basically the same items as the adult menu but with less frills, smaller portions and kid friendly pallet options. Crayons are provided for the various activities on the backside of the kid menu. I highly recommend making a reservation if you prefer indoor seating. We made a reservation on OpenTable. With young ones we have to eat early but we always make reservations regardless because there is zero flexibility with toddler hanger. We walked in and our table was already set up with our two requested high chairs. As a mom to two young toddler twins - this gave them 5 stars in my book. But the service for the rest of the meal was a solid win. Also!!!! I love that they are on trend with "Girl Dinner". $25 for a dirty martini, Caesar salad and parm/truffle fries. Obviously had to get that. We were STARVING so we ordered the hot honey pizza (omg! A must), a pasta dish, calamari fritto, and for the kids we got meatballs and ziti with butter. Not one crumb left. We ate everything!

New Italian eats in Stanford shopping center. So, plenty of parking...or not depending on the day. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of heaters. Inside its booth/chair combo seating. The tables seemed to get moved around to accommodate larger parties, but definitely easier to get a walk-in table with a group of 2-4 or come off peak times. They do also take reservations. The food is very tasty, this time we tried the appetizers and pasta, although their pizza is solid as well. The rigatoni had a better, heartier taste, while the pappardelle had more actual meat. So that was interesting. The prawns appetizer was super flavorful as was the beet salad and fries. The disappointment was the crab arancini. The lacked flavor although their pizza aoli was really tasty and has a kick. So maybe the idea is for the aoli to provide the actual flavor - which would be an unfortunate idea. Overall, solid foo for the price point to volume/taste ratio.

I LOVE Delarosa. I've been to the SF and San Ramon locations before. I enjoyed the Palo Alto location and the service was fast and nice. They even gave my service dog a nice big treat! We ordered the Prawn and Frito Misto appetizers and for entrees we got the Margherita pizza and the Rigatonici. Everything was wonderful except the Rigatonici. It was honestly pretty bland and didn't have much pancetta in it. But everything else was great! And they have some of the best pizza around! All Delarosa locations are really nice and chic

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Drinks are interesting and different, everything on the menu from the bites to drinks have a little Japanese fusion or influence going on. We pretty much tried every small plate on the menu. Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.

The cornbread seems to have been baked and kept in the warmer as it was starting to dry out. The dry aged NY steak was requested medium rare and turned out more like a medium well after sitting on the table for a bit... The NY Steak had a robust meaty flavor. The side of potatoes and char were great. The campanelle pasta was tasty although the pasta may have been a touch over-cooked as the pasta was no longer al dente. There were plenty of mushrooms. The mushroom side dish was rich and rather heavy. The highlight of the evening was the milk jam pudding which was a lighter way to finish off a rather heavy and bold-flavored dinner. ~$110/head after tax and gratuity.

At that point, there were only two other small parties in the restaurant. We were initially seated directly next to a group that was clearly enjoying themselves and being somewhat lively. Since most of the restaurant was empty, we politely asked if we could sit elsewhere. We were moved to another small table, and then asked if we could have one of the empty booths instead. The server said he would check with the manager, but the manager declined, even though approximately 90% of the restaurant was empty. We then placed our order. My wife ordered the salmon, and I ordered the mussels, along with the beet and strawberry salad. When the salad arrived, my wife noticed there were no beets in it. We pointed this out to the server, who said he would speak with the manager. The manager eventually brought out a corrected salad. Shortly afterward, however, the server informed me that they were out of mussels. This was especially frustrating because the mussels were the main reason we chose this restaurant--we had enjoyed them on a previous visit and specifically came back for them. To make matters worse, about ten minutes later, two families with children were seated directly next to us, despite the restaurant still being largely empty. Given the abundance of available seating, it felt unnecessary and made the dining experience less enjoyable. Overall, the combination of the seating situation, ordering issues, and lack of accommodation left us disappointed with what had previously been a restaurant we enjoyed visiting.
