Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.

I didn't have much interaction with staff here, so can't speak on the service. There are lots of self-checkouts available. I'd say we ended up in this Whole Foods about 3-4 times in our 5-day stay. Also a large pharmaceutical selection (non-prescription). Staff was very friendly - noticeably so. While checking out, I used two paper bags and was confronted by an employee who essentially forced me to add the bag charges to my bill. While I understand there is a Washington state bag law, the employee's approach felt completely aggressive and unnecessary for a 24-cent issue. Metropolitan Market already charges premium prices, and being policed over paper bags at a self-checkout is an incredibly uninviting customer experience. I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. If you are shopping at the nearby Capitol Hill Farmers Market on Sundays, it is a nice store to stop by to supplement your finds from the market.

Coffee Bar was already closed, deli department was also closed, but few items to choose from the deli were in the refrigerated section, beer and wine department had an assortment of items to choose from. Yet alcohol wasn't on my agenda. What I did find was a few bakery items, breakfast burritos looked worth a try, and this was my first attempt to healthy sodas and fresh squeezed juices. Appreciated a staff that guarded the front entrance for safety and security. The cashier offered me to join and become a member. Membership fee was a bit high, although if I return more often, it might be a better investment. Almost all businesses in Capital Hill cater to the LGBT community, you will see rainbow flags flying at store fronts. Seattle is such an inclusive and diverse city.
