Today I had the pimento chicken sandwich. I thought it was delicious and really enjoyed the chips component because it adds an extra crunch. I just wish they had some more chips in the sandwich to be honest and maybe a little less pimento cheese. However overall I really did enjoy the sandwich. I would love to come back and try their other sandwiches if this one was so good. My husband had their new tenders tossed in that new barbecue type sauce and I got to try it and I was impressed with that one too. Their fries are always a delight because they're thin and crispy. I also enjoy all their homemade sauces. How they're made in house. This is always a good place to come if you want it to hit the spot. And service was excellent ! I come here all the time as were are snowbirds and have a vacation timeshare just down the road. Love the strips and super salty fries. Their ranch is so good too. I've had a few meals where they were not as crispy but when it's good. its good! My peanut butter shake was excellent and creamy and I could see them inside hand spinning it. So I like PDQ overall, but sometimes I wonder about how certain locations are managed and whether a standard is set for consistency. This rating would be higher otherwise. Most recently, I had two recent issues that surprised me. On one occasion, all of their salad dressing was frozen or slushy!!! How the heck do you pour that on your salad and do you have to worry that it might be bad to eat? I've got to assume something was up with the refrigeration. This made me question everything else we were eating at the time as well. Second time the fries were so salty they were almost inedible. Luckily, my wife likes salty fries so she ate them as her grilled chicken sandwich was very bland! Other than those gaffes, we have had generally good experiences here. I do think the bowls, sandwiches, salads we have had are good overall. I just hope corporate understands that first impressions can skew to the negative when things like this occur. This place must be a Tampa thang. JUST SO YOU KNOW PDQ means People Dedicated to Quality (just in case you are as unfamiliar with this chain as I am). I suppose the best comparison to this place would be Chick-Fil-A. That being said, there's no comparison at all. PDQ prides themselves on never frozen chicken, fresh cut french fries and fresh made dipping sauces... something one of the managers told me "is not being done in the fast food industry." He also mentioned they were coming to Georgia soon, but I honestly don't think this place is going to do well in Atlanta. We kinda pride ourselves on good chickeny things and the flavor here is more like a cafeteria than a dedicated chicken franchise. WHAT I DID LIKE I really like the use of what looks like reclaimed wood in a simple, yet stylish interior. The communal sink for hand washing was also an interesting touch. The shift managers are dressed like executive chefs, but unlike a chef, they make use of a microphone loudspeaker system to call out the names of orders once they are ready for pick-up. Whereas Chick-Fil-A practically gives you table service at most locations because the staff will walk your tray to your table and often come around to refill drinks. Staff @ PDQ were friendly and everywhere I looked there was someone cleaning something, preparing something or helping someone. That was indeed a good thing. THE FOOD But if I'm going to give an honest critique beyond the hospitality and decor, the food flavor just wasn't noteworthy. I'm no die hard Chick-Fil-A fan, but I'm gonna keep it real since many other reviews have indicated the food is better here. I did find PDQ's chicken tenders to be EXTREMELY tender and juicy. However, I didn't think they were particularly flavorful (and not even remotely comparable to Chick-fil-a). I've actually had better flavored chicken tenders at Pin Chasers bowling alley. The hand cut french fries were also no comparison to Chick-Fil-a's waffle fries or In-N-Out's hand cut french fries. I LOVE potatoes, yet I could have easily done without these. Another good idea that just didn't seem to add any "quality" to our visit were the sodas. They use a self-vending system for sodas similar to the ones found at Six Flags over Georgia. One screen controls all the flavors or flavor combinations. At first we thought it was just one of the flavors that had an odd taste, so we tried another but it tasted equally as bad. We then thought it might be the weird taste of Florida water that was throwing off the soda flavors. However, after our third try with a different flavor, the problem to me seemed to be the carbonated water to syrup mix. It made everything taste like flavored tonic water. THE VERDICT Nice place, great philosophy, but not at all worthy of the hype. All the extra steps they claim to go through over similar restaurant chains is not immediately apparent to me when it comes to flavor. Sorry, that's just my first visit perspective. Who doesn't love a business that dedicates itself to quality? PDQ or People Dedicated to Quality jumps through that extra hoop to make sure you experience is a positive one. Founded by Outback founders - this place definitely has a bright and prosperous future ahead of it. When I visited the Carrollwood location it had only been in place for a week and the place was already packed. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, indeed. When you go through the drive-thru, you don't talk to a speaker - you talk directly to someone, making the experience more personable and you can see them cut the french fries through the windows. All sauces are made in-house and taste great. I had the chicken tenders and fries during my visit. The chicken tenders were juicy and just what you would expect from a chicken joint. The french fries, though, were amazing. A huge notch up from competitors and their seasonal apple pie milkshake was excellent. They have a side with apples and some kind of taffy dip that is also very good. The entire restaurant inside feels very modern, from the LCD screens to the soda fountains that have tons of options. The fountain to wash your hands with was a nice touch as well - it's hands-free and close enough to the tables that you don't have to wander into the bathroom when you just need to wash your hands really quick. After the Chick-Fil-A scandals this past summer, PDQ offers a great alternative where you don't have to offend anyone when you want some chicken and honestly I think PDQ is better than Chick-Fil-A. This is a fast food chain place......but wait......there's no burgers here, and the food is freshly-made, really tasty, and healthy for you! PDQ opened a few weeks ago in Carrollwood, and this place was rocking on a Friday night. This fast food eatery is located on N. Dale Mabry at the intersection of Stall Road. That would be across Dale Mabry from the Carrollwood Post Office, or at the same intersection as St. Paul's Catholic Church, or just north of the former Border's bookstore, or diagonally across the street from the Lowe's shopping center. Take your pick as any of those landmarks will get you to the right area. The menu is quite basic, but don't let the simplicity scare you away. You have three main choices as you walk in the door: Chicken Tenders, Chicken Sandwiches, or Chicken Salads. The Tenders come three to a serving, and they are long slices of fresh chicken breast, seasoned and fried until golden brown. You get a choice of sauces including Honey Mustard, Sweet Heat, Chipolte BBQ, Creamy Garlic, and Ranch. The Chicken Sandwiches come two different ways, either grilled or crispy -- plus you have the choice of Chicken or Turkey. I went with the grilled chicken sandwich tonight, and that was served on a wheat bun with honey mustard, lettuce, a thick slice of tomato, and pickles. Again, the chicken breast was fresh - not frozen - the lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the sammie was awesome! Imagine getting chicken that actually looks and tastes like real chicken. YUMMMM!!!! As for the salads, you can get a crispy chicken salad, a grilled chicken salad, or a chicken Caesar salad with a couple of different dressings. The Tenders and Sammies can be turned into a meal by adding a basket of fries or fresh mint coleslaw along with a drink. The fries are fresh-cut - none of that typical fast-food frozen junk - and they are seasoned with more than just a liberal dousing of salt. So the fries are very tasty, and it's easy to scarf up the entire basket with ketchup, hot sauce, vinegar, or whatever you like for dipping sauces. PDQ has my favorite style of Coke machine that allows you to play Russian Roulette with the flavor choices, and create something truly unique. They also offer iced tea, lemonade, and homemade milkshakes in a variety of flavors. There's seating inside on high-tops, tables, booths, and at the semi-circular bar area overlooking the open-air kitchen. There is also an outdoor patio with plenty of seating, and a lovely view of the cars flying by on Dale Mabry. Plenty of room for families and teens. Now the "PDQ" thing probably means Pretty Darned Quick, which relates to the speed of service. They must have had 15 people working in the open-air kitchen tonight, so the food came out fast and hot. Although there is a sign over the dining area which proclaims "People Dedicated to Quality" as an alternative meaning, and that would be true as everyone was very friendly and I had several different managers stop by to say Hi ("Hey, I see you're using Yelp....Cool!"). Uh oh, Chick-fil-A has some stiff competition! Actually PDQ is a notch above. And that's saying a lot. I tried their tenders which they are famous for. They are delicious and crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. I also tried their grilled turkey sandwich. Turkey is turkey, but the nice slice of cranberry was a nice touch. Their creamy garlic and sweet heat sauces are delicious. The fries are hand cut and not as greasy as Five Guys. Now, the MOST impressive thing of my visits is their soda machine. It has a touch screen control where you pick one of over a dozen sodas. Once you pick, you can then enhance it with another 8-10 flavors, like cherry, raspberry, lime, vanilla, and more. I had cherry Coke Zero. I was in Coke heaven! The place was packed, but the line moved very fast. Service was very efficient. My wife tried the Oreo shake and loved it. I am definitely coming back. Whether it be Wendy's, Chick-fil-a, or the kids meal at any restaurant, chicken tenders (with the right dip) can always put a smile on my face. I first heard of PDQ from my friend, who is also a chicken tender fanatic. We came on a Wednesday during the afternoon and it was PACKED. The drive-through was crazy long and the lines inside were pretty lengthy as well. I ordered the simple three pack of chicken tenders and the order came out pretty fast. The tenders themselves weren't all that bad, but also didn't really scream, "BEST TENDERS EVER." They had just the right amount of crispiness and just the right texture. What truly makes this place different from your typical chicken tenders type of joint is the sauce. PDQ offers a variety of different, and very unique dipping sauces. Everything from sweet sriracha to buffalo blue....seriously to die for. Even though I only got to try two of the sauces, I can personally vouch that you will be very happy with your visit here. Seriously, I'm probably going to stop by later this week because I'm already having a craving to try the other sauces. Essentially, a fast food place you could go on a date. But then again I am a pretty cheap date. I got the chicken tenders and fries and he got the salad (go figure) and they were both good, though I have to say while three small tenders were baaaarely enough for me, they are definitely not sufficient for a guy (or gal) with a big appetite. This was my second time visiting a PDQ. I like the drive through here and it is very easy to navigate the menu. The first time I had a mini panic attack because you read the menu first then place your order at the window and I didn't think I would be able to remember my order after I drove 10ft. Luckily for people like myself, there is a smaller menu conveniently placed under the window. Panic attack gone! This last visit I ordered the new pimento chicken sandwich--sans chips. Omg!!!! First time last time. As i drove past the drive thru and noticed a bunch of sauces enjoying the direct sunlight, I proceeded to park and enter this PDQ with my son. Prior to actually ordering I observed the register person who rubbed his nose more than once. No he did not wash them, immediately. To the back of the cooking area i then observed the drive thru person rubbing, nearly picking his nose. I informed a white coat chef management type. I advised him to address these issues immediately as the drive thru person once again had finger to nose and face while pressing the machine to dispense soda and serve the public. You really can't go wrong with PDQ and this location proves that. Every PDQ that I have visited has great service and the food is always accurate and tastes great. This location is spacious and well designed and has that open feel to it, even when it is crowded. The Coca Cola Freestyle machines that are placed in all PDQ's are a great perk. I love the option to add flavor to my pop and their ice nuggets are always a preference when it comes to ice. The homemade sauces that PDQ makes fresh daily are also terrific. The chipotle BBQ is my favorite and if they bottled it up and sold it I wouldn't think twice about purchasing it. It's that good. The employees at this location were friendly and my food came out very quickly during a busy lunch hour. Never heard of the place and spied the big PDQ letters so thought we'd try something new. Our thought was that it was like a Piccadilly or a Bob Evans with a large variety menu served quickly. Turned out to be a chicken place. Chicken on salads, chicken on sandwiches, chicken as a stand alone. The place was stylized industrial modern with high ceilings and open piping. The din in the place was unbearable--very poor acoustics. (Tip: Sit in the back past the bathrooms for less noise.) You stand in line to order at a register, then find your seat. They call you by name over a PA when your order is ready, you fill your own drinks.) They pride themselves on clealiness and swoop to your table to pick up baskets and trash as you eat. Lots of kids in this place. I ordered the grilled turkey sandwich. It came as a 1/2 inch slab of tasteless white meat (coulda been chicken, flavorless and dry) with a slice of cranberry and lettuce on a bun. Guess I was hoping for real turkey or shaved turkey. Edible but not enjoyable. Blah. The 3.99 sandwich becomes a 6.99 combo if you add a drink and side. I chose the blueberry coleslaw which sounded weird but healthier than fries. There was no reason for this combo. It was normal cole slaw with 8 flavorless blueberries on top. My guest ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. She said it was fine, but that "crispy" just meant breaded and that it was "too much meat". The coke machine was fun. You push buttons on a screen to select any kind of drink from the same machine. Working right next door to PDQ, I was of course curious. I gave into the tempation several weeks back and have given it several visits since. Let's get this point out of the way - The menu is chicken. And chicken. The crispy chicken sandwich is tasty; perhaps a bit crunchier than the Chik-Fil-A counterpart. When paired with the sweet heat sauce (you have to ask that they sub it) it's even better. As good as the sandwich is, the crispy chicken tender salad is better. Perhaps it's just myself trading off the fried chicken with the good mix of veggies and greens as "healther", but with the ginger-blueberry dressing, it's got a leg up on the sammy. One thing I haven't seen noted is their tea selection. It's fresh brewed with sweet, regular, and green. Me personally, I "freestyle" it and mix the green with the sweet. I know...rebel that I am! The thing that is mentioned here is worth noting again: the service is great and they get you in and out with a friendly smile. Now the bigger question - Which is better? PDQ or Chick-fil-A? Man...tough call. But if I had to choose sandwich to sandwich...I'd go with the Spicy Chicken at Chick-fil-A. It's a bit of a better value and perhaps just a bit more well seasoned. If they ever come up with a clever breakfast menu and opened up more restaurants, You might as well kiss chick fil-a goodbye. PDQ gets it! I'm usually the type to go on the drive thru and be on my way, but when Going to PDQ I almost always park and dine in. I can enjoy my meal inside while watching ESPN on one of their flat screen TVs or seat outside and enjoy the cool breeze. The service is great, I have yet to try something on the menu that I didn't like, and the prices are very reasonable. Recently a couple of PDQ restaurants have begun popping up in the Tampa Bay area. What is PDQ? Well, before today I had no idea. The first location opened in South Tampa earlier this year and, while I had driven by it countless times on my way to swim practice, I'd never been inside. Was it fast food? Sit down? Quick service? - I wasn't sure, but I was curious. The bright colors, fresh logo, and contemporary design was what had me interested. Without even knowing what food they served, or how they served it, I knew I waned to try it. I'm telling you, marketer's dream. right here. Make something look pretty and I'm like putty in your hands. After the location in South Tampa had already piqued my interest, I discovered they were building another location in Carrollwood. Perfect. The new location opened on Sunday and, when I realized I didn't even have an inkling of a desire to cook dinner tonight, I suggested we pick up dinner to-go. The restaurant was PACKED! The line for the drive-thru (yep, drive thru - we need to classify this as "upscale fast food") was 8 cars deep and I had to wait for a spot in the parking lot. The line inside was crazy too - it started before I even entered the place. Even though we were bringing the food back home, I wanted to go inside to check the place out. The restaurant was cute - lots of light, open floor plan, and wood tables (instead of booths) for dining. There was a fresh vibe that's missing from other fast food chains. I was handed a menu in line that included three sections of tenders, sandwiches, and salads, with variations of those options listed below. After watching various trays of food pass me by, I decided to go with the tender option with fries. Seemed smart to go the "classic" route, plus the fries looked amazing. They had that fresh cut look, which was a nice change from the typical frozen look found at other fast food joints. I put my order in and my name was called before I even had a chance to fill my fountain drink (LOVE the Coca-cole freestyle machines - I just got club soda). I grabbed my drink, grabbed the food, then headed home. (side note: I like the idea of putting each meal in a box to keep it a "meal" in the bag, but it really makes stealing fries from the bag just that much more difficult. Just sayin'.) Now, onto the food. I'd give the chicken tenders a 7 out of 10. They were good - crispy, nice size, and not too greasy - but nothing special. However, the fries get a 9.5. They were greasy (in a good way!), had a nice level of saltiness to them, and really did taste like they were fresh cut today. The fries sold me on the meal. Overall I enjoyed PDQ. Not something I would order everyday, but I would eat there again. Cannot believe I drove passed this place feeling starving after work for a whole year and never once stopped to check it out. As a lover of good chicken sandwiches, it completely boggles my mind. I love Chick-fil-a and tend to make it a priority of mine to try every new fast food chicken sandwich. I tend to be a big fan of Outback, I have loved their steaks since I was little. They always seem to have consistent quality. Whether PDQ stands for Pretty Darn Quick or People Dedicated to Quality does not matter to me, but what does matter is that they make a chicken sandwich as good as Outback makes a steak. Moreover, they have AMAZING lemon aid! Nothing is more satisfying when mixed with Florida sunshine on a weekend afternoon, or in my case, a late night snack. I was so happy that I finally got around to trying PDQ and I surely will be back for more chicken sandwiches and lemon aid. I feel slightly bad for Chick-fil-a, but when you double the quality for only a buck or two more, it is hard to argue with just plain common sense. read more

Just met Nina she is the sweetest, pdq is always the best ! I come here multiple times a week and there is never any reason to complain:)
