Honestly, why on earth would someone throw a lot of money on a car without it being inspected first? Is everyone this trusting of the selling party? It may not even be intentional but, maybe they don't even fully know what's going on with the car. It really isn't in the seller's best interests to point out everything wrong with the car. So, why are you not getting your car inspected before buying? I used PDX inspections to purchase a vehicle. It was a great experience. It made me also feel secure knowing that the vehicle I'm buying is fairly solid. There were things Josh noticed that I would have omitted or not bothered to check. Seriously, get a car inspected. Don't take the seller's word! $200 for their premium inspection is totally worth the peace of mind. Look at all the damn horror stories all over Yelp etc about car buying gone wrong. All of that is preventable. I would not buy a car in future without PDX Inspections or someone doing a thorough inspection. So far so good! read more

I had called other inspection services in the PDX area, and found them to be not as flexible as Daniel. His quality of work is excellent. Dan provided thorough reviews of the vehicles I was interested in, with quite a bit of detail and pictures. While he does provide all the info - he'll also give you a high level and let you know what to worry about and what are minor findings. As a busy single mom who knows almost nothing about cars, performing due diligence on a used car was a very daunting task. Then I happened to stumble across this service, and I'm SO glad that I did. My interaction with PDXinspections was smooth from start to finish. After finding a car I was interested in, I was able to schedule a next-day appointment with Josh through their website. The online booking form was very thorough and even included an area where I could list personal dealbreakers (fluid leaks, cigarette odor, human remains, gypsy curses, etc). Just a few hours after submitting my request, I got an email with the Carfax and Autocheck reports for the car attached. The next morning I was told that they had scheduled the inspection for between 12:45 and 1:15pm and that I would receive the report by 2:45 at the latest. Sure enough, at 2:12pm the report arrived in my email inbox. The report was 4 pages long and quite meticulous. My car only had two very minor issues - so minor, in fact, that I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed them had I tried to inspect it myself. Armed with this information, I was able to feel MUCH more confident in my negotiations with the dealership and also in my decision to proceed with this car purchase. All in all I can't recommend PDXinspections highly enough. For a very reasonable price, they made a very stressful process much easier for me. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

I was looking at a 2000 Mercedes 230C last week, and found the PDX Inspections ad on Craigslist. Because he appeared to have good reviews, I decided to set up an appointment with Josh at PDX Inspections. That turned out to be a great idea, and money well spent. Josh was extremely thorough and took his time to do his comprehensive set of checks...even though the weather was cold, wet and miserable. I was impressed with his automotive knowledge, and his unbiased opinions. (He does not care whether you buy the car or not, so you will get the straight scoop from him.) Turns out, he found about $800 worth of maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. With his written report in hand, this allowed me to negotiate $800 off the car price. So in essence, this inspection did not cost me money...it SAVED me $680! I will absolutely use Josh again when I buy another car, and would have no problem recommending him to my friends and family. This is the first time I have ever written a yelp review. Josh did such a good job that I feel like he really deserved a good review! The inspection report was very thorough and easy to understand. I purchased a Bronze inspection. Josh took the time to make sure that any questions I had were answered during the review of his inspection and he took the time to show me anything that came up on the car. He even gave me estimates for things that may need to be fixed. Josh really went above and beyond when I had a question after the inspection was over. Later that day I took the car to DEQ to make sure it would pass inspection and an issue came up with the car's computer giving a different VIN than what was on the car and paperwork. This freaked me out and nobody (DEQ, the dealership, and Honda mechanics) was able to give me an explanation that made sense or calmed my concern. I emailed Josh and first he apologized for not mentioning this in the report as it was something that he did catch to begin with and gave me a very thorough and reasonable explanation that answered all of my questions. He didn't have to take the time to write me a long email after he had already completed the inspection, but he did and I am very thankful. Some people might not like that it is difficult to reach these guys via phone call (I noticed this in other reviews), but Josh was very responsive via email, so I did not have any issue whatsoever with communicating regarding scheduling and questions. read more

I was trying to get the inspection done during the holiday period and wasn't sure if it would happen. I sent PDX an email and Josh responded promptly and walked me through the process. Once I booked the inspection online Josh got back to me and we worked to get the dealer to allow Josh to do his inspection. The inspection report I received was detailed and included so much more information than the average report. In case all the other 5-star reviews weren't enough, here's another one telling you just how good Josh and PDXInspections are! I recently moved to Beaverton and had been scouring the cesspool known as Craigslist for something decent to get around in (at around the $5000-$6000 ballpark). Already knowing the typical telltale signs of ripoffs and shadiness, I found a 2002 Honda Civic with around 120,000 miles. After email contact, conversing over the phone and referencing the name and number on google, it seemed legit enough to meet. After taking the car for a test drive, everything seemed pretty good and I was pretty sold, but since I'm not mechanically inclined, I wanted a professional to look at it first before I went through with the purchase. I went online and immediately found PDXInspections. I had a short time window, but emailed Josh at 10:30 at night on a Sunday to try to set up an appointment for the next day (which already showed FULL on the website). Josh got back to me right away and said he hadn't confirmed all the bookings for the next day and would try to squeeze me in. Sure enough, Josh let me know that it wouldn't be a problem and that he could meet (especially since he said this model car sometimes had head gasket troubles, which would set me back over $1000 to repair). I went with the Bronze Inspection since it was only a $5000 car, but Josh really took his time and tested all the major potential issues. In fact, the head gasket was broken!! He also noticed the Timing Belt had never been replaced (even though the owner told me it had!) which would have been another $500 or so. Overall, Josh saved me from buying a car that while looking good on the outside and currently driving ok, would have required about an extra $2000 in maintenance to get it back up in good condition. Not only were they unable to find anything Josh did not - but the items they found were identical to Josh's - fluid change, oil change, etc. They even missed a few things that Josh found. Josh is independent, so his finding things does not benefit him. (One note on that - we asked Josh to recommend a mechanic, and he would not, so he can stay impartial. That's integrity, folks.) I found a used car on Craigslist with suspiciously low miles at a really good price. I have been burned once before on a craigslist car that I didn't have inspected. I found PDXinspections from a Google search. I ordered an inspection online at 11pm after their next day guarantee had passed. Amazingly they were able to fit me in the next day and they put in a lot of effort to get ahold of the car seller. I feel they went above and beyond what another company would do. They replied to my emails promptly. I bought the Gold package, the middle one I think. I was super impressed with what I got. This guy was so thorough and even checked the a/c and heated seats and mirrors with an inferred camera and I got to see the pictures, it was cool! I don't know more about cars than the average person and the information and piece of mind I got from the car report was very much worth the price. I felt much more comfortable buying a used car after reading their inspection report. They emailed the report as soon as it finished so I read it while we rode to meet up with the seller.
