After I asked a server if I could sit anywhere (there were only two tables set though the place just opened 20 minutes earlier) she gave an attitude and said not to then disappear again. Been coming here for years not sure why there is outdoor seating. Kitchen and staff is the same size. I waited 45 minutes before my appetizer came. When I asked why it took long the manger said others have waited longer... The entire time I got to enjoy 5 dudes yelling at each other across the street throwing up gang signs while we are sitting It was better when it was completely indoors. However, the fried chicken was drowning in the hot honey. It wasn't super spicy but just made the chicken kind of wet, I'd get it in the future with the honey on the side. The fries were perfect. The cornbread was a bit burnt and very dry. We also had some cocktails which were good but nothing to rave about. This establishment being Black Owned has much history for the black community to follow and learn about and should be taught to kids and adolescents and also adults as a foodie and interested in food but I technically don't want to be a chef but I do love learning about the many aspects that consist of food for I have forever been curious about what we eat and how to make it better and the dishes that we come up with sometimes original or just something fresh and exciting. Ordered a cheeseburger, which they call a hothouse burger and the basic breakfast (eggs, grits, toast) and a side of home fries; sounds simple enough-- well I thought so, but apparently not here. As I mentioned earlier, it was relatively empty, but it picked up well after our order was placed. Yet, the food took quite awhile and the order was incorrect. There was no cheese on the burger and for some reason I had eggs and French Fries (which I never ordered) but what happened to the grits and home fries? I track down the waitress and she seems a little confused-- she informs me that she will find out what happened. She returns and lets me know she can bring me a piece of cheese. I then inform her I'll just keep the fries and forget about the home fries and just give me an order of grits because I didn't want to give her a hard time but I was just confused about why this was such a difficult mission. The food was good, but the service turned me off a bit. I've been to Peaches before and the wait time is extensive, but the difference is, at the main location on Lewis, it's wall to wall with people-- this wasn't the case here. Typically I opt in for the burger or the catfish with grits, and gobble it up every time with no breathing breaks in-between bites!! I love it here !! The food is consistently amazing. Some pieces we dry and some were under cooked. The shrimp and grits were swimming in oil. After draining some of the oil, I tasted it and noticed it lacked flavor. There was no love in the grits or the shrimp. Epic fail! The bourbon butter cake: there was nothing special about it. It was really dense and it had no special flavor. It was just cake. In my opinion, this is the Better of the two restaurants. Everything was deeelicious. The hot chicken was perfectly done. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the I side. It didn't need any sauce. And TRUST, I am a saucy saucy girl. I like me my sauce. I needed none for the chicken. The cornbread was ok. The sandwich is an upscale version of the Popeyes chicken sandwich. It lacked flavor and I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was super busy bc of the holiday. I recently visited this place again and the experience was so horrible that I ended up walking out and will never return as a paying customer. The staff was very rude especially the Asian girl with very short hair. I walked in hoping to grab a quick meal before a planned meeting. Upon receiving my food. I noticed that they made a mistake. I pointed it out to her and she immediately became defensive in her tone and body language basically saying "if you don't like it you can leave if you are in a hurry or wait for another.
