**TRIGGER WARNING**…read more I had PT at courage fitness for a year. It wasn't until a few months in that Klaus sexually assaulted me. In the bathroom, alone in the building he told me to pull my pants down, he said "oh look you got a banana" which he used to describe the bend under my butt. He had measured me in my underwear before, it was kept professional in the past and I didn't feel uncomfortable. I trusted him, he was my trainer for a year and he monitored how my body was changing. This time was different though. This time he asked "Can I spread your butt cheeks?" Shocked, I immediately responded "absolutely not!" Still unsure if he was kidding and I just didn't get the joke. He wasn't. I felt him suddenly jerk my butt cheeks apart as I screamed louder "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO " and felt him lick me. I turned around abruptly and he said "I'm hard do you want to see?" I said NO! and pushed my way out. I was in complete shock. I STILL stayed and finished my work out. Something that will haunt me for the rest of my life. I'll never understand why I was more concerned about making him feel rejected then I was for my self (something that he used when pleading not guilty.) He clenched his fists together and begged me not to tell my friend, who also went to him. Not "don't tell the cops" not "don't tell my fiancé who owns the place", don't tell my friend... In retrospect it's very obvious he was planning to do the same to her. It's easy to say why would you go alone in the bathroom with a man and pull your pants down... but I didn't think of it that way. Looking back the signs were all there. Inching past me and rubbing his dick against my leg, which I always thought was a result of the tight quarters of the gym. Holding my body to "help" me with my push ups. I recall him actually texting my friend "I'm going to lick your ass this week" instead of "kick" which we all laughed off as a result of auto correct. You can call me dumb, you can call me naïve or too trusting but this isn't about me this is about what HE did when he heard me screaming NO! I was yelling "no no no no no no no" like a doctor was about to give me a shot, I wasn't prepared for. The feeling and shock of wetness between my butt. The confusion and self hatred that followed. The feeling I was always going to bump into him in my neighborhood. Always trying to look ahead to make sure we weren't on the same block, in the same restaurant. Having to break my lease and move away from my friends. I drove past the gym sometimes and would feel like I was going to vomit, seeing the lights on, knowing there were still women alone with him in there and there was nothing I could do. Not even a yelp review. The DA said if I did, it could affect the trial. I went on my honeymoon shortly after, looking back on the pictures I recall how crushed I was as a person and how desperately I tried to live in the moment. My husband slapped my butt while I walked up the stairs, while we were there, and it resulted in me having a panic attack. Whaling in hysterics with my face buried in a pillow. I felt like I couldn't breathe, the unfriendly reminder of feeling touched and not seeing it, jolted me back to that place. I'm still not over it. He had the nerve to plead not guilty and every month at my new job I had to tell them I might have to use my "vacation days" bc I didn't want to say I had to testify at my own sexual assault trial. The fear of facing a jury who didn't believe me, when I have no reason to lie. There was no money, I didn't need to look bad at a new job, I didn't want to break my lease and move all my things. All I wanted was one thing and that was for him to not be alone with women, so this wouldn't happen to anyone else. The trial is over now, he finally pled guilty and I can "move on" but I know I'm not alone. If you're reading this I enCOURAGE you to go to the police and tell your story. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I'm a woman in my late 60s & have always been fairly active, but got a bit lazy recently, so I decided if I want to get stronger & fitter as I age, then I need to make the effort...for me! I started with CrossFit Sunnyside just 2 weeks ago & from the friendly welcome on my initial visit for info from Mike the owner to my first few workouts I'm happy I did. Mike & Leo have guided me thus far & there is a genuinely friendly & professional atmosphere in the gym. Everyone is pulling for your success & adjustments can be made to suit your fitness level. I love the idea of the 1:1 for 5 sessions upfront, which helps show what to expect during the classes & assesses what my strengths & weaknesses are & therefore knowing those things I can work to better achieve my goals. Their prices are very reasonable for what's on offer & there are several programs to choose from. I have one more 1:1 session on Monday & looking forward to getting in the team sessions soon. You may think you've been working out, but a couple sessions with John Shams, founder of Scorpion…read moreFitness, and you'll realize you were sadly mistaken. I met John in September of 2007 when I found him through a Google search after attending a wedding in Spain and realizing once I got there that I didn't fit into my outfit for the big day. That was the last straw in a series of such frustrating situations when I finally had enough of myself getting larger and larger, so when I returned to the US I contacted my trainer from years ago who had gotten me into great shape. Unfortunately he had moved to L.A., so I searched online for NYC trainers and found John and four others. After consultations with each I started a 3 month package with John, and it changed my life. In those three months I worked out harder than I think I've ever worked out in my life. At first I thought I'd be self-conscious at the gym (being a bit of a porker at the time), but he makes you feel like you're the only person there, giving you so much focus and absolutely getting every last effort out of you that you don't even see all the other people around you. He pushed me to new limits in weight training, which really (for me) sheds the pounds. That in combination with a good diet program and I was able to lose nearly 40 pounds in those first three months and gain solid muscle. Not only did I lose weight and drop a few dress sizes, but my body composition changed and my clothes fit amazingly well. I had some serious tailoring bills, but not complaining! The before-and-after shots were something else....I couldn't believe it was me. John's in-depth knowledge about the musculoskeletal system and what works and doesn't work was terrific, as was his keen ability to know exactly when you've really executed the last rep in the set and couldn't possibly do another. He's always learning new techniques and reading up on the latest research to incorporate in his sessions, and shares the information freely. He also changes up the types of workouts, so your body never gets used to one thing and is constantly challenged. The way he pushes you to new limits in the workout goes beyond the training session and into your daily life. You develop a new confidence, not only because your body looks so much better and is so strong, but you've achieved such amazing results in one area of your life that you start creating positive results in other aspects of your life. What I love also is that I can go into the gym after a long day at work having made multiple decisions and then just let him take control of the workout, telling me what to do and just going through the motions of executing the sets. It is so great to not have another decision to make, and just put yourself in someone's capable hands and come out of the gym de-stressed and feeling physically tired but mentally rejuvenated. I've continued with John even when not working, as I decided I'd budget to remove other expenses but not this one. He's worth every penny. Over the years he's become a great friend, someone I have shared many laughs with inside and outside the gym. I can't imagine working out with anyone else ever. I absolutely love New York City but if he ever said he was moving to Asia I'd have to say I'd be packing my bags tomorrow. I would say try a session with him, but really to do it right give yourself over to John for at least three months 3 times a week. Then trust me, you'll be on here writing your own rave review.

He is not your typical trainer who got a certificate from some random gym. John knew everything regarding reshaping my body including all the do's and dont's. He is not the type of guy who spends his time talking to you when working out. He focuses you in the workout... And if you are talking too much... He will tell you that you are not being pushed hard enough to get your money's worth. He does not spend time with you on any exercises that really do not need his help - such as Cardio. He really tailored all the workouts to meet my individual goals. None of this cookie cutter deal that many trainers implement (and believe me - I had my share). He writes down the plan for you and explains it to you step-by-step so that you are excited and part of the process. One of the great things about John is his knowledge of food and diet. This is probably the most important aspect that complemented my workout. I was able to gain muscle and decrease the fat very fast. His diet got me to lose 12 lbs in one month! That is what I call results and getting my money's worth. In a short time, I was able to build my body in ways I had never thought I could do. He is the reason why I get to take my shirt off and be more confident about my body. On top of being a great and knowledgeable trainer, he is a really nice guy that really cares about getting you to your goals! I…read moredecided to come here after I developed pain in my right thumb after using an ergonomic mouse for a few months. I also had some older issues (legs, feet, back) that I wanted to work on. My thumb pain ceased between the first and second sessions. However, the approach to my other issues were pretty obviously an attempt to drag out treatment and keep me coming back for as long as possible. My second session wasn't even a full hour (yet I still paid full price) and I was given one (!!) stretch to do at home after my third--just a basic hamstring stretch. I'm an active person and I don't have limited mobility in my legs, or anything that would warrant such a timid approach. (I went in the morning, which is when everyone's body is stiffer than usual...is that what mislead him?) I also did some exercises with bands during that third session, and I asked if I should do those at home as well (since I have bands at home), and was told I should focus on one thing at a time...I'm all for being careful, but it was just too suss. I canceled the rest of my sessions after that. When I canceled, the front desk person made a big deal out of the fact their treatments had stopped my thumb pain as proof that their approach works as is better than other PTs. Well...it's a thumb. It's a tiny part of the body. I would've canceled and found a different PT if the pain had continued after the second session! Another big complaint is that the PT did not write down any of the exercises. (I had to ask him to make a video of the stretches for my thumb.) The last PT I went to at this price point had an app where you could count reps and see someone performing the exercise properly. I'm not someone who loves apps or needs them for everything, but it was extremely convenient and helped me get better much faster. Also, the website advertises Hyperice massages/treatments during each visit and I got ZERO.
