Poor customer service. I ordered a bag on 3/16/2020 and have still not received the order. I contacted Peak Design on 3/27 to seek help in resolving a shipping issue with FedEx. They simply reminded me that it's not their fault and to contact FedEx. Communication with FedEx is close to impossible at this time. I contacted Peak Design again to please help. They contacted FedEx and let me know that it would possibly be at one FedEx location. I tried to call that location with no success so I went and found the package was not there. I contacted Peak Design again and was treated as it was my fault for being frustrated as I did not call the FedEx location before going. I am totally frustrated with this situation and how Peak Design and FedEx is handling it. Peak Design is now just letting this issue fall on my lap. I requested a refund and Peak Design responded that they can not provide a refund or another bag. Overall, although it may seem Peak Design made some small effort, they did not go the distance that a quality company does to satisfy their customer. I've been sent another product when lost in transit as well as a refund. The attitude of Peak Designs customer service is unprofessional and not that of a top company. read more

Second time here, I've been looking for a new camera bag and spent some time looking at the "Everyday Backpack" on their website. Obviously shopping through photos and reviews is not always the best way. I decided to take a drive over to their store to check the backpack out in person. I was instantly greeted when I entered the store, there were 2 gentlemen sitting at the large table in middle of the store with a laptop on hand. Turns out they were both employees of Peak Design and they greeted all customers as they entered the store. I actually think that is a great concept that the employees hung out in the show room, it had a warm welcome feeling. To me it said that they are here to assist if I had any questions. As to employees sitting at the register waiting for me to bring items to them to purchase. I spent about 10 minutes looking at the Backpack, then I eventually was ready for some questions. I was helped as one of the guys finished with a customer he was talking to. I learned more things about the backpack and decided to give it a shot. It was quite high on my budget, but they have a 30 day return policy. I purchased it with 90% intent to return the backpack within a few days. Once I got home, i dug into the backpack more and loaded some of my gear into it. I was instantly SOLD on it! There is so much research and detail put into this backpack, I wasn't able to find any other backpack that came close to all the features that this backpack has. After a week of using the bag to transport my 15" Macbook Pro and Sony camera to and from work. I have no plans to return this backpack now. Back to their store, very simple and clean. They have a huge table for you to set down the bags you'd like to look at. Once you're ready to purchase, they will pull out a brand new one from the back room for you. No dirty display models sold here! read more

I won't do the story justice, but my mom and I were so impressed by the bags, the people (Kial, Brooks, and Jayson are AWESOME), and the values behind it all that we bought not one bag, but two!! I ordered a 15 messenger bag online and had a hard time arranging my gears to fit in the bag. I have canon 5d4, flash, 2470L, DJI Mavic and occasionally 70200F4 or F2.8. It's not a space issue but rather it's hard to arrange all those gears with the divisors inside the bag. I came into the store trying to get some idea to solve this. The first sales tried and basically came up with a set up as I did, but the gears are loose and hitting each other as there are basically only 3 big compartments inside the bag. The other sales came in and started talking saying if I have smaller pouches for my gears, everything will fit in. Then he went further saying their bag design allows million kinds of configuration so for creative people, they can always find out set up that fit their need. Too bad that I am not the creative type and neither were the sales. So I left without finding a bag that is fitting my need. This is the typical "it's all user error" attitude. With the company's stress in design and usability, they should have hired someone who is more user centric. read more

LONG POST ALERT!! WORTH THE READ Back in March of this year I purchased the capture clip, lens holster, and associated accessories. Previously I had purchased the slide camera strap and was quite impressed by the quality. I used the lens holster each time I used my camera as I am switching lenses frequently. Fast forward to October of this year, I clipped my lens into the lens holster, ensured I heard the click and went about my business. A short time later I heard a crash. Unfortunately the lens that was secured into the holster somehow disconnected and dropped to the ground rendering it inoperable. I immediately sent the lens out for a couple of repair estimates. In the meantime I also contacted Peak Design as I wasn't sure if there was a defect of some sort with the holster. Less than 12 hours later Jen with Peak design emailed me and asked for pictures, what had happened, and any estimates I received. Once I sent everything over Jen had replied with an email stating that Peak Design would cover the cost of repair of my lens! In this day and age it seems more and more that hearing back from customer service is half the battle. Having a pleasant interaction with customer service is just a bonus. So for Jen and the team at Peak design to not only get back to me but cover the damages I am absolutely thrilled! They will forever have my business for anything I may need that they offer!! I had a phenomenal experience in the store last week. I was in SF for the weekend and had the family waiting in the car waiting for me. Both employees greeted me as soon as I walked in even though they were busy finishing with other customers. Janice helped me for a few minutes while her customer was finishing up. Then Sean took over as he saw that the gear I brought was almost the same as what he used to shoot with. It was obvious he was a seasoned photographer and helped me select a bag and a few accessories. The messenger bag I bought looks bespoke and handmade. The fit and finish of all of their gear is beautiful. I am so glad I went into the store instead of just ordering online. read more

Terrible product and even worse customer service. I bought a camera strap for my DSLR about a year ago to compare it to the superior Spider handstrap and it fell apart right in the middle of an event making me almost drop my camera. Having spent some good money on it, I figured that the customer service would take care of it. They just said: so sad, too bad, you'll have to buy another one. Really! After this poor experience, I think not. You just lost a customer over a cheapass piece of cloth. My Spider handstrap is still going strong after 3 years of use, by the way! read more

I came into the store in a hurry wanting to find a bag for a trip that I was going on. As soon as I walked in Niyor immediately came to my aid and walked me through the store and most of it's products. He was very attentive and inquired about my travel needs and destination, he really catered to me and my wants. I ended up with the perfect bag that I'm still in love with it. Niyor was a huge help and he had a lovely personality I actually enjoyed his company a lot the few minutes we got to spend together. I would totally recommend others to venture into Peak Design to see what they have to offer. You definitely won't be dissapointed! read more

As a photographer, I went into Peak Design to look at the tote bag and the messenger bag. The two men that worked there could not have been less helpful. There was no one in the shop and before I forked over $200.00 plus for a bag, I wanted to check out all of the storage etc... to see which one would best suit my needs. They did not have a sample messenger for me to look at. When I asked about the cuff, the person was so blase about my being in the shop. I promptly went across the street to Timbuk2. They guy there spent 30 minutes showing me the different bags, how the storage worked, how the straps could reconfigure etc... etc... He was patient and helpful. During my time at Timbuk2 several people came in with questions and returns, the guys working were helpful and nice to everyone. I found a bag that would work as either a backpack or messenger bag. With the Timbuk2 insert it is perfect for my needs. I invested the $250.00. I wanted to walk back across the street to Peak Design to show them my purchase. I passed on the idea. The sales guys would not have cared that they lost a purchase. read more

I really hope this isn't the future of retail. This company sells great products, but puts its talent into YouTubers and persuading influencers -- and not into training or motivating the store staff to deal with customers. I walked in with a specific problem to solve - and plenty of inclination to buy products (I'm a professional photographer). I walked out with nothing. The staff were disinterested, amateurish, and lacking in problem solving skills. Basically I was pointed to a row of unsuitable bags and told to go and help myself. It was a quiet time but the staff were chatting to themselves not us. If this is the millennial view of high-end retailing, that would be very depressing. read more

I brought my old camera bag that was held together with a bunch of duct tape. The staff was totally helpful in letting me try out different configurations. I really liked the 20L with my tripod on the inside. I was told about a 30 day return policy and got my new Everyday Backpack real quick. I stuffed everything in my old camera bag into my new bag, and there was even room enough for the old camera bag. read more

I agree with John D. The only way you can communicate with them is online...no phone #. So, 'after' I had placed an order for over $350 on a Sunday morning & I emailed them 20 minutes later to add the Suite# I had forgotten to add of the business it was going to, they replied in a return email it was too late to add it because the shipping process had already begun, even though on the order it said the shipping process would not take place until the next business day. I had to watch for the Fed Ex truck the entire day of expected delivery. After chasing down the truck in our neighborhood, the driver consented & gave me the package. Because of the address not including a Suite #, the driver informed me he would have dropped it at the Postal Net in the neighborhood. **Innovative, well-designed products, friendly/helpful in-store experience.** I visited the store last week while in town for a seminar. I had recently ordered Peak Design's Travel Backpack on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/peak-design/the-travel-line-versatile-travel-backpack-packing) because I was really impressed by the thoughtfulness of their design choices. I went to the store because I was interested in also getting their Field Pouch for my mirrorless camera (Sony Alpha 6300), and because I was in town, I had a chance to check the pouch out in person. I also wanted to pitch a product idea because, well, as a consultant and pseudo-entrepreneur, I'm like that. I got there as the store was opening, 11 am (very SF), and was warmly greeted by the woman (Janice) opening it up. I told her I had ordered the Travel Backpack. She was delighted to hear that and let me try on the "first article" from the factory. Very nice - I'm glad I made that purchase and am eager for it to arrive. On to the Field Pouch...she asked to see my camera, and I got to see how the camera fit, etc. Sold! Janice also showed me PD's clip system (kindof a quick draw system for cameras), and secured the components on my current backpack and camera so I could try it out. Sold! Finally, with her guidance, I selected one of the strap options for the pouch. She then configured everything (updating some of the attachment thingies with a new version) so I that was ready to roll out the door. Back to the product idea...I'm not going to say what it is, because I might go crazy and design it myself (Peak would do a much better job, but sometimes you just gotta...). But the point here is that the clerk and the manager (Zona) listened respectfully, and Zona even followed up with me afterwards to ask questions about requirements. Much appreciated, even if the odds of them making the damn thing are pretty low. There's also a more well-known bag maker on the same block, so you can do a two-fer trip, but I'm pretty sure you'll spend more time (and money) at the Peak Design store. read more

Great place to check out all the Peak Design products including the new Travel Line Back Pack (TLBP) which is what brought me into the store. Shaun (spelling?) was of great help and very friendly. There was a pretty vocal Customer in the store when I was there but Shaun was able to concentrate on me and help me decide whether if I should get the Medium or Large Camera Cube to go with the TLBP. I intend to use the TLBP purely for the "travel" portions of my journey. Once I get to my destination, I usually use the 10L bag every day to carry specific gear for the day/night. If necessary, I could even use the TLBP during the day to haul gear with room to spare. I currently use the 30L BP to carry my gear when I travel so I was hoping to get more space out of the TLBP. Side Note: While I've never had problems hauling gear around with the 30L BP, the straps on the new TLBP feels more comfortable. Shaun and I were both unfamiliar with the new Divider system, how to fold / organize the Dividers to make efficient use of the Camera Cube space, how many Dividers will be provided with the TLBP, etc. It looked like I had to get the Large Camera Cube to carry my gear (6 lenses + A7R3 + A6500) which would mean that the TLBP would end up being used purely as a camera BP. Shaun spent about 30 minutes getting familiar with the new Dividers and readjusted the gear in the Medium Cube until we got the gear to fit. Thanks Shaun :-). This not only allows me to put more stuff into the TLBP, I can also store the 10L bag which I intend to fold flat into the front portion of the TLBP. Upon leaving, Shaun and another guy (apologies I currently can't recall the other fellows name) gave me a cool Peak Design patch, sticker, and replaced my thin anchor links w/ the slightly stronger version. I shoot on a Fuji X-T2 and occasionally shoot with the battery grip attached as certain jobs call for more photos in portrait orientation and that extra grip is really helpful. When a young white dude in a beanie welcomed me in and asked me what I needed help with I asked him if the Slide Lite would be sufficient if I sometimes shot with a battery grip... He thinks for a minute... takes a deep breath... and tells me "Honestly man... and this is just my thoughts here... but I think if you're shooting mirrorless a battery grip is the stupidest thing in the world... like you're getting a small mirrorless for the size and then making it almost as big as a DSLR... I don't get it." He didn't say a single thing about the actual straps or the benefits Peak products provide... just told a customer who was in store WITH a battery grip that his battery grip was stupid. I just moved on and went with a black Slide Lite but the face-to-face experience I had in Peak's retail location left a horrible taste in my mouth. I'll stick to ordering off Amazon from now on. Let me say that I LOVE Peak Design and their products. I own 3 of their bags and have been following the company since their kickstarters. Their products warrant a 5 star rating. read more

I was stoked the moment I walked in the store. I eagerly picked through the display bags, admiring the design and many hidden pockets. The only problem was actually choosing one over the others. Thankfully, Zona was there to guide me through the process. She helped me for about 45 minutes as I mulled over the benefits of one bag or the other. In the end, I took her suggestion to try out the 30 liter everyday backpack with the option to return it within 30 days just in case. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. First, I've been a fanboy since Kickstarter. So I'm a bit biased but deservingly so. The Everyday Messenger was and still is one of the best bags I've ever invested in. To see this company come as far as it has and giving back to the community and other causes is beyond admirable. The flagship store is a destination for my SF trips each and every time. Nothing beats hands-on and not once have I gone to the store and experienced anything less than uber-knowledgable and personable service. Sitting for literally hours and having the staff discuss products, techniques and just having a good time makes this an unbeatable experience. It's not a store, it's a meeting place for like-minded, photography people. Nothing but smiles and great advice. I recently went to peak design studio "Coworking for creatives" event at their flagship store hoping to use their space and meet new creatives. I went on a Tuesday and ended being the only person there. The staff was friendly but the lady who managed the store went out of her way to make me feel unwelcome. I was appalled by her behavior and the way she managed the store. I don't understand why they would be willing to host an open studio event for creatives if they are not willing to accommodate one. read more

Where can I begin? We are wedding videographers that absolutely love Peak Design's products. We started with the everyday messenger and it just grew. When we had the chance to go to SF I knew my wife and I had to stop by their retail store. We just preordered the travel line and wanted to see it in person. It only made us even more excited to receive it. We ended up making conversation with some of their best employees, Sean and Brooks. They were so helpful in showing us the product. Showed us possibilities with the gear we have never even thought of. They even dropped knowledge. Sean is a wedding photographer and Brooks showed us how he set up his daily carry using a small camera cube. He attached anchors to it and a strap and had a brand new edition of bag. So slick. He used it for his large format film camera. He showed us how film worked and learned so much. We were so excited about everything, we ended up buying some stuff that we have been wanting like the capture clips. I highly recommend this spot, buy it online, go in person but support this brand. They are doing big things. I think this location is awesome because they do a lot of events for photographers, video graphers, and the community in general. read more
