I was on vacation in San Francisco and stopped at the store in the morning to purchase a tripod. The staff was very welcoming and even asked our opinion on some new neck straps coming out. I went on with my day and while site seeing someone broke into my car and stole my Peak Design bag along with some gear (thankfully not the tripod). I returned to the store and explained to the employee what happened, he went above and beyond to assist me in getting the products I needed to replace. This store is amazing and their staff are personal and welcoming to all that stop in. I will defiantly be recommending Peak Design to all of my family and friends for years to come. read more

I had never heard of this store before but upon walking in, Nico greeted us with a smile and gave us a brief history of the store, and answered all of our questions. He got to know us and asked about what kind of photography we were into, and gave us some information about events and meet ups that they host. I was a fan of Peak Design and their products before I ever set foot in their Hayes Street store. After having visited, I really had to leave a review, which is rare for me, but, wow, did they earn it. I am a strictly amateur photographer with more love than talent for it, but it is a passion of mine. I am now exploring how I might continue with it in a wheelchair, and want to minimize the inherent complications. I read on their website that they take appointments for a 1:1 consultation on equipment and options, and will share ideas. Additionally, I was free to bring whatever I wanted with me. Road trip!! I came in from the Folsom area, and I had the best time! The customer service was amazing, the ideas were outside of the box and wonderful, and I had free rein to play and experiment with all of their offerings. They had clearly read and considered the information I had provided through the appointment questions, and were totally ready to go. I already had and treasured several of their bags, straps and clips (and the incredible new tripod), but the staff that worked with me gave me packing ideas for the bags, ideas about maximizing the flexibility of their products, and truly extending the hand of camaraderie and the joy of the process. Zero pressure to purchase anything, just exploring ideas together. All of their merchandise is top quality, guaranteed to an almost unprecedented degree, and they are doing their best to be ecologically responsible on top of it. The staff member who met with me asked great questions, presented terrific options (which is difficult for the non-handicapped to conceptualize), and helped me find a couple of tools that will immensely improve my ability to pursue my photography and enjoy it while I do so. Peak Design is about the products, not the store, but while I was there I noted that every person was greeted, assistance offered, and no pressure was ever applied. They told me about some of the workshops and classes that go on at the store, and I can only say that I wish I lived substantially closer. Buy the products. Meet the people. I really need to enter two different reviews here. Based on product alone I would go for 5 stars. I got the 30L everyday backpack a few days ago and have been extremely happy with the bag's build and engineering. Unfortunately, my experience with the store itself forced me to take off 2 stars. I brought my bag with gear inside to hopefully get some pointers on organizing things more efficiently. At this point I just spent over $300 on the bag... please don't try to upsell me on even more bags to add to the bag. It does not work. There's a balance of being helpful and being a used car salesman. I truthfully got more the latter with this experience. I valued the input on the bag and organization but felt completely turned off by the quite intense added sales pitch. read more

Went in here with friends and was immediately helped by Brooks. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and easy going. He even brought his bag out to show us how he uses his bag. I often order their products on line but since I was in the neighborhood I decided to stop by the store to check our their wider camera straps. Not only did they mount those knarley triangle clips to my camera they also installed the loops and the strap. I also wanted to buy the pro pad but the sales associate told me he didn't use his much and just gave me his. Unbelievable! I love all of their thoughtfully designed products and needless to say I am a big fan. I've love to get their carbon fiber tripod but it's way to expensive. read more

We were visiting the area, so we called in to have a look at the products that were the subject of the Kickstarter campaign (which has now ended, successfully). We were welcomed into the store by very cheerful staff, and made to feel very welcome. Zona, Brooks and Janice were very knowledgeable about their products, and happy to let me 'have a play' with the new Travel Line gear. Their passion for the company and their products was obvious. I already have a number of Peak Design products, and my wife now also has an Everyday Backpack and 5L Sling. Great store set up with a really knowledgable and engaging staff. Really all the employees of the company are super nice and helpful. I got to attend one of their grand opening events last week and they put on a great time. Its refreshing seeing people so passionate about their business and craft and wanting to share that with the world. Add environmental consciousness into the mix and this company really has it all. I literally created a Yelp account just to say how incredible my experience with Brooks was. I've been a Peak Design customer since their first Kickstarter, and while I assumed their customer support would be decent to good, I hadn't given it much thought or ever had to interact with it. Flash forward to this past Wednesday, when I walked in with a banged up v1 Messenger with a zipper that had seen some better days. I fully expected I'd have to shell out for a new bag and was pulling out my wallet when Brooks walked over and was like "don't worry, let me take care of this for you." At first I was confused. Surely there must be some mistake. Surely I would need to produce a receipt or launch into an explanation of how the zipper got damaged or otherwise justify myself. Nope. Dude not only happily replaced the bag for free, he upgraded me to the v2 model. No questions asked. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. This is like old-school Apple level of support. I'm seriously impressed. I was a fan before -- now I'm an evangelist. Good on you Peak Design. You're moving from strength to strength now. This is how brands (and loyalty) are made. And thanks especially to Brooks. It may have been a routine swap for you, but I spent the walk back to my hotel thinking about how you set the bar for retail interactions. read more

Customer service is worthless. Product is 5 days overdue. PD doesn't list a phone number, and despite numerous requests via email no one calls to resolve the issue. Cancelled our order and reversed charges with credit card company who said they have seen this numerous times before with Peak Design. We won't support a company run by snowflakes who make commitments they don't keep or make any effort to resolve. read more

I dropped by the store on this rainy evening to check out to check out some cool Peak Design bags. I come from out of town every handful of months for doctor visits and when I do I try to visit the camera stores in the city, it is somewhat of a pastime. Everyone there seemed very friendly. Even though I didn't buy anything I was free to look at pretty much anything I was interested in. If I had any questions the staff were happy to assist and recommend the best ways to use their gear and the ecosystem as a whole. The demo table and bags were super helpful in seeing which bag was right for my mirrorless kit and honestly I could use any of the bags- they are well designed and look and feel great. After lingering around in the store a bit we started to talk about future products and some cool sounding color schemes for bags, it felt like I was listening in to secret company info. Sometimes the store even acts a venue for bands to play small shows (how cool is that!). This is why I like to check out stores in person rather than shop online, I get to meet real people and have actual conversations with them, possibly learning something cool I might not have while sitting in front of a screen at home. The Peak Design store has gracefully joined the Leica store as some of the best parts of my annual trip, and I am thankful for a wonderful experience. In my quest to find the perfect camera bag, I very much look forward to another visit. read more
