We've been going there for 4 years, and have recommended it to friends who think it'a great too. Some of these reviews complain about the staff, but we've always been treated with respect. Today's visit 03/17/2020 was to discharge my children into vaccinations, who during the 7 years that I had been in this clinic had not been perfect, just as nobody is, but not as bad an experience as today! the worst! They ran me off for not allowing my daughter to be tested for covid just by coughing periodically, since my daughter is perfectly fine, I argued that if my daughter had any bad symptoms, everyone in the family would feel something and she is not like that! I asked that please, for being two years old, could they hurt her without reason or need, the manager without any justifiable reason asked security to escort me out of the building. This place was the most neglectful and racist thing I have ever experienced before. He did not ask me any questions or give reasons for anything, the nurses hid because they knew that the way they were acting was not the most decent or appropriate. Thank you Dr. Jessica, Dr. Yadira and Dr. Brian Gablehouse for all the time that you took care of my children and that it was very unfortunate that this time you were not there. We used this office once right after I had my twins back in 2015. We provided our information, our kids insurance, our address, etc. - all what was required to provide for billing purpose. November of 2021, I got a notification of a sharp drop in my credit score (34 points) only because Peak Pediatrics decided to send us to collections for the balance of $125.00 owed. We don't recall them contacting us, we don't recall getting invoices from them or any other appropriate actions prior to the collection agency. We paid the amount owed right away, but what a negative unsettled feeling we have about Peak Pediatrics. Please be aware. read more

My first 2 visits were great! Ashley, one of the MA's is truly magical with the kids, shots, and overall comforting care. Such a great experience that I wrote a glowing Google review. For the subsequent 2 visits I made, I specifically asked for Ashley when I made those appointments. I was made to feel like I was being difficult and neither time I did get the person that made my son so comfortable. On the last visit, and it will be the last, I saw the coldest, condescending, cranky PA that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing as a so-called provider. I didn't even get the sense that either, the PA or the MA like children. Such a vastly different experience. My son never had an issue with shots until that day. The MA was not good and it showed in her lack of skill. Now he brings up how he never wants to go back, but before he was excited to go see Ashley. Management of this clinic, you have a superstar here, and the others have caused yet another person to find a clinic elsewhere. read more

We used Peak Pediatrics for our son since he was born and he is now 13. The care overall was mediocre but we only used them for minor issues. I went through a horrible divorce and moved and apparently had a $50 balance with them. Instead of reaching out to me via phone (number has not changed) to try to secure payment, they "discharged" my son and refuse to see him any longer and also sent me to collections. They were very unkind and not understanding of my situation at all. After being a paying customer for 13 years, they simply tossed us out without any empathy. Stay away. I chose this office before my daughter was born and have been very happy with my decision. It initially appealed to me because the location is close to my house, it is in the same building as my Ob, and Dr. Gablehouse was one of 5280's "Top Docs". My daughter came over 3 weeks early so we did not have the opportunity to visit the office before her birth so the first time I met Dr. Gablehouse was at the hospital. My daughter had a bit of a rough start and was in the NICU for a couple days but Dr. Gablehouse helped us to feel more at ease with everything and I felt like she had my daughter's best interests in mind from the beginning. I like that their office has two waiting areas (one for well child visits and another for kids when they are sick). So nice to not have to wait in the room with a bunch of sniffling, coughing kids when you come in for all the infant check ups. They are very good at keeping the appointment times - we have always been shown to a room within 10 minutes of the appointment time and we have never had to wait very long once there. I love that they are supportive of the decisions you make for your child even when they are not "mainstream". We are following an alternative vaccination schedule (we will do all the vaccines but spread out more than normal) and they are very supportive. I would have given 5 stars but scheduling can be a bit of a hassle. Dr. Gablehouse is the only doctor at the practice and it can be difficult to get an appointment with her as she works in the Winter Park office as well. They only schedule 2 months ahead of time so the prime days and times (for working parents) can fill up quickly. There are 4 other women that also take appointments (two PA's and two CPNP's) and I have never had a problem getting an appointment - just not always the most convenient date/time. read more

I work with preschool children, and I chose this office initially because of their good reputation among the families I work with. This office is busy and sees a TON of kids. Most appts are with the PAs, not the doctors. Personally, I don't mind this, since my kiddo doesn't need to see a dr for a routine well baby check. If I ever had a serious health concerns, I might request an appt with one of the docs. FYI, they did recently add a doc to the practice, and they also opened a new office in Thornton. My experiences with the PAs have been overwhelmingly positive. We love Jessica especially. My daughter was a slow grower as a baby, and I watched her weight closely. She kept dropping percentiles at every well child check. I know this can be a cause for concern, but they never pushed formula or suggested that we do anything different. They understood that my kiddo is just a busy, active, small kiddo, and as long as she was growing they weren't concerned. As a nursing mom, I really appreciated this, because I've heard so many horror stories about nursing moms being pressured into feeding formula due to slow weight gain. We usually have been able to get in quickly for sick appts when needed. Recently, they squeezed us in at the end of the day for a suspected UTI. I really appreciated that they chose to do this instead of making us wait until morning. Well child physical appts can book up quickly, so I would recommend booking these appts a month or two in advance. Appts are generally on time. The nurses get us back quickly to check vitals, and the nurses are great. Very rarely, we've had to wait for a scheduled appointment, but for the most part, we're in and out quickly. Areas for improvement: extended hours, and weekend hours. Most pediatricians' offices have at least one day a week of longer hours, so that working parents can make their appts after work. Same with weekend hours. As a 2 parent working family, that would really be helpful for us. Also, the nurse message system needs some work. You cannot get through to a doctor or nurse directly; you can only leave a message which will be returned in a couple of hours. Of the 3 times I've called, 2 of the times the nurse has left a message for me but did not answer my question in the message (one was a question about med dosage for an infant, and one was asking how long my sick toddler could go without a wet diaper- easy answers). So I had to call back and leave another message, which took another few hours to return. How about having your nurse answer the phone live? read more

Had a really great experience with The Lactation specialist Jessica Johnson. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Really impressed with the level of care from her. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My kids have been going to this place for quite some time. What started as a great family-like practice has turned into production-line medicine for kids. More technologically advanced systems are put in place at the expense of providing quality care for kids. A receptionist used to answer the phone... now, contacting the office requires sitting through a 15 minute answering system in which the bulk of the menu instructs patients to go online to schedule appointments, get medicine refills, contact nurses, etc. If you are looking for online medicine for your kids, by all means this is your place! The doctors and nurses used to provide individualized and compassionate care to my kids. Now, the purpose of the practice seems strictly focused on acquiring more patients in an already bulging practice. Changes are frequently made without notifiying parents. My son had to go without his medicine for upwards of a week simply because office procedures changed and no one thought it necessary to inform us of the change! Staff seem very disgruntal and so far removed from making sure that quality care for kids is always kept in the forefront. And please... don't let your kids need anything because unless they are on their death bed, getting regular appointments (physicals, medicine refills, etc) will require booking visits months in advance, and appointment times are regularly an hour behind schedule (who cares if your kid misses another hour of school...) Doctors Brian and Barbara Gablehouse: we used to love your smiles and genuine interest in our children, but the constant changes all in the name of improving care has resulted in completely removing the care component completely your practice. I love that this office is teamed up with Children's Hospital. I love Childrens in general. I have an epilectic son so it's just so much easier when the drs, clinics and hospitals all have the same information on him and I don't have to carry papers around with me everytime I take him in somewhere. PROS: The doctors at PEAK are competent and the nursing staff seems well trained. I've never had any "bad" experiences with them. They are knowledgeable and caring, which makes me feel more at ease than going to a regular family practice doctor. Also, calling in to make appts is quick and easy. CONS: The wait time can be extremely and unnecessarily long because they seem to be short staffed certain days. I did have a rather rude encounter one time with a receptionist who couldn't answer my question. You could tell she just wanted me off the phone and would just say " Thank you, have a good day" repeatedly when I was wanting to talk to someone else. Their receptionists are inconsistent: some are great while others are just straight up b**tches. read more

I found Peak Pediatrics through a simple web search when I was pregnant with my son. My doctors were happy with my choice, and I must say, I am too. In my son's first week of life, the doctors at Peak helped me with some issues he had with his growth. They have always taken good care of him and make me feel like a good parent every time I go in. Yes, the reception crew isn't exactly the friendliest, as I've seen in other reviews. But I don't mind that because the PA's, nurses, and doctors are great to me and my son! read more

15 years we have been a patient of Peak Pediatrics. My OBGYN recommended Dr. Gablehouse when I was pregnant with my daughter. I though if it was good enough for her, it must be great! We go to the Wheat Ridge location for our services, this is NOT a convenient location for us as we live in East Denver. My daughter had her annual physical scheduled. We arrived 5 mins late and the front desk lady informed us our appointment was 30 mins prior. I apologized and told her I had it for a different time. I was informed I could sit and wait, but most likely would not be seen. I apologized again and told her we drove nearly and hour to get there. She stared at me blankly..I could take a seat, but..I would most likely not be seen.I get it, my mistake but I still am a paying customer and she could have been more accommodating. I think there may be some concerns about the fact that children are most often seen by physicians assistants rather than a doctor, but I believe that PAs are highly capable and often underestimated. The docs are really good... but holy cow, the billing and bookkeeping department are a NIGHTMARE. Compliment sandwich time! The Good: separate waiting rooms for sick and well patients. We all know that kids are little toxic cesspools of funk even on their cleanest days, so this is a huge blessing. I don't want my healthy, just-in-for-a-checkup kiddo being hacked all over by some festering phlegmglob of a toddler. And, of course, vice versa (although my kids are charming and sterile and always cover their noses when they sneeze... yeah right). The Bad: billing. Bookkeeping. Billing. Unfortunately, one of our visits was improperly coded and therefore not covered by insurance. When I tried to remedy the situation, I found myself between a rock (the insurance company, who literally gave zero sh!ts about the situation) and a hard place (Peak Pediatrics, who refused to admit that they'd made an error in the first place). After battling on both fronts for OVER A YEAR, during which time Peak sent our outstanding bill (not a huge amount, but still-- approx. $200) to collections, despite being aware of the ongoing dispute. Because it went to collections, they would no longer allow us to book appointments for our kids. Yes, really. Finally, we simply accepted that the error would never be corrected and we paid the bill. But guess what? Their collections department doesn't communicate with their billing department and their billing department doesn't communicate with their scheduling department and despite having paid the erroneous bill OVER A MONTH AGO we still can't book appointments for our children. The receptionist actually suggested I just "pay it again, and then have a credit when everything gets straightened out" in order to get my kids their long-overdue checkups. Because, you know, EVERYONE has extra money lying around to pay bills they've already paid, right? No thanks. So, yeah... billing and bookkeeping are ATROCIOUS. Pray you never have to deal with either one. The Good: the docs know what they're doing. And, in the long run, that's really the most important thing. Dr. Gablehouse (Barbara) is a real pleasure to deal with. She's funny and personable and sets kids at ease. Her son also works in the practice, so older boys can see a male doc if that makes them more comfortable (I know that, as a young teen girl, I was MUCH more at ease with a woman doc). The PAs are also great, for the most part. One (and I can't remember her name) is pretty brusque and a little off-putting, but we've only had her once. The others are kind and sweet and gentle with nervous little ones. They were even able to quickly diagnose a mystery rash as an allergy to the 'cillins. Very helpful! NOTE: if you are anti-vax, you might not want to take your kids here. They are quite pro-vaxxing (because, science). We opt for a staggered vaxxing schedule, not because I fall into the Tin Foil Paranoia camp, but because I believe that 5 shots on any one day is too much for ANYONE to handle, much less a one-year-old child. I did have one PA (the brusque one I mentioned before) tell me, "you know I could give her a hundred shots and she'd totally be able to handle it." Um, back away with that needle, lady. Until she gets her first tattoo, this baby ain't gettin' 100 shots from ANYONE. So calm down. read more

At first it was great the staff seemed friendly, now I can't even make an appointment without being put on hold for a long time. We LOVE Peak Peds!!! I have never had a billing issue in the 4+ years that my children have been going there. I can always get an appointment that works with our schedule. We drive 30+ minutes to the Wheat Ridge office. I made the mistake of switching to a ped Dr near our house and we missed the office so much, we switched back. I had found all the staff from Dr. Brian Gablehouse, Dr. Barb Gablehouse, and the pa's to all ask my input into care or treatment. I never have any issue getting an appointment with the Dr's or Pa's. They are all up to date on the latest medical journals. Besides being a 5280 top Pediatrician for many years, the records are all online and accessible with The children's hospital. If you ever need a urgent care visit or ER, they can access the medical history of your child. I would not take my children to any other doctor's office. read more

I love Peak Pediatrics. I love Dr. Brian, I love the nurses. My kids love them! They're great to my kids and Dr. Brian and the nurses always go out of their way to show me that they care. I have been with Peak for years, ever since Dr. Barb was around. I couldn't have picked a better team for my kiddos. My nieces and nephews all see Dr. Brian as well. I have been taking my children here for 5 years and have been so impressed. We have seen both midlevels and MDs and have had wonderful experiences with all. They go out of their way to help and give us the support and information we need. We have also received breastfeeding consultations which have been so helpful. I am writing this review about the Peak Pediatrics location in Thornton: I will start by saying that the nurse & Nurse Practitioner (Jessica) that my daughter and I saw were both great - very friendly and knowledgeable. Jessica took the time to ask specific questions regarding my daughters illness and I really felt like she cared about her well-being. She wasn't like other pediatricians that my daughter has seen in the past, that spend a minute looking at her and saying she's fine and probably "just teething" or "it's just a cold", since come to find out, she had an ear infection. The only negative part of my experience here was the receptionist. My daughter and I were greeted by a nurse when we got there who asked us to sign in, then told us someone would be with us shortly. A few minutes later, the receptionist (Itzhelt) came in through a back door and sat down at her desk. She didn't once make eye contact with me or even acknowledge us. She then says, "you're a new patient, right?" No "hello" or "hi, how are you?" Not even eye contact when she finally spoke to us. She was staring at her computer, typing as she talked. I let her know that yes, we were new and she says, "You need to fill these forms out first." This girl has no customer service skills whatsoever. Even a simple, "How are you? Are you a new patient here?" would have made a world of a difference. This girl is the first face you see upon entering the office. "The face" of the office. You would think it would be a requirement to have someone friendly working the front desk. She was just very straight, to the point, with a firm tone. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if she just doesn't like her job, but your patients should not be aware of either. I am a nurse who works in a hospital & I deal with patients all the time - I've had my sick days or not-so-great days, but I would never want a patient to pick up on that vibe. It's so unprofessional! When I was filling out the paperwork, my 20 month old was chatting away (more like baby talk), waving to the receptionist and again, this lady wouldnt even look at my daughter or wave back, say "hi", nothing! It was a huge turn off. If you're working in a pediatrician's office, you should be used to kids talking to you. She could have, at a minimum, faked it and pretended she likes kids for a second & just say "hi" back. I noticed she acted this way with another lady and her little girl (who was maybe 14 months old) - so that's when I realized it wasn't just me. I will be returning to this office only because Jessica & her nurse were awesome! I also liked that they offer a 20% discount when paying the bill in-full since I am self-pay (we are in the middle of getting new insurance through my new hospital, as we just moved here from the east coast). So that was a bonus! But the girl at the front desk either needs more training on customer-service and how to deal with people...or simply needs to be replaced. Overall, I do like it here a lot! We came from a multi-doctor office so that wasn't a turn-off initially. However, since starting with them, we have been part of a massive assembly line. It's hard to even get a person on the phone, just lots of voicemails. Even when my asthmatic son was in distress, the attendee was far more concerned about our insurance information than getting him seen. When I tried to make an appointment last, we couldn't get in for over a month for a knee injury my 3-year-old had. Our records paperwork got lost and it doesn't seem like communication among the staff is very strong. We like Dr. Brian but sadly, will have to find someone else. read more

My daughter has had good care overall here. Initially I was impressed with Dr. Gablehouse being voted best pediatricion in Colorado numerous years. I also really have appreciated the handout of developmental information and tips at each visit, but when it comes to really being knowledgeable of all types of parenting choices and the latest research on certain things I would say the staff is lacking. Especially for parents who are drawn to attachment parenting styles (in the way that Dr. Sears promotes), this probably isn't the place to go. They are inconsistent in their support for breastfeeding. Great for the first year and then not really beyond that is their perspective. I have a hard time understanding how a group of educated doctors, PAs and nurses can suggest that breast milk and breastfeeding no longer has any real nutrients or benefits after one year, especially when the research shows otherwise. I was sorely disappointed with their approach regarding my decision to breastfeed my daughter to age 2. Three visits in a row I was pressed (most emphatically on the latest visit) to stop breastfeeding due to my daughter's slow weight gain. She is very healthy otherwise and super smart yet I feel they have tried to scare me to stop by emphasizing that her brain could be poorly impacted by slow weight gain. Also the suggestion to stop breastfeeding cold turkey by a former lactation nurse seemed odd and insensitive regarding an approach that would be traumatic for my daughter. They didn't seem interested in taking into consideration that my weight and height records as a baby have been almost identical to my daughters and so her weight and growth may just be a genetic reflection. read more

So, I was in the Thornton location solely for a wellness check up for my 3 year old and 18 month old and I have never felt so disrespected by a health care professional in my entire life. For one the dr. Never introduced themselves to myself my wife or either of my children. Then she continued to talk with us like we were idiots, I assume not knowing we both hold degrees within the medical field. On top of all of the poor bedside manner, we also over heard our physician talking about us and our children to the staff outside the room. I am sure is also a hipaa violation. Dr. Brian is wonderful IF you are able to get in to see him within a decent amount of time. We have had numerous issues with the scheduling there. I was told for over a month to keep trying back to schedule an appointment as the calendar wasn't available for August. When it finally was available and I called, the Dr. was already scheduled out for over a month past when we needed to see him. Very disappointed in that. Having said that, we were very happy with Dr. Brian Gablehouse. He always spent an adequate amount of time with us and seemed friendly and knowledgeable. read more

I have taken my daughter here for three years. I've never had great customer service but she liked the nurses and doctors so I decided to stick with it. The Wheat ridge office is great!! But the Thornton office has the worst employees. I called today because we were late for an appointment, I understand there is a policy if you will be 15 min late (I was 14 lol) but if I call you and the response is ok I'll let them know you will be late and you show up then you would expect to be seen, right?! WRONG! After barely being greeted the receptionist acknowledged me and my daughter by saying your late you will have to reschedule to which I responded, "UM no I called you guys so I'm not rescheduling anything."Then the other person behind the desks proceeds to call the ones that answer the phones to confirm if I am telling the truth to which those weasels said no, I have a time stamped phone call that I spoke to someone though but I'm making it all up. Despite that call going on, isn't that something you address away from the customer? Then the DR comes out to tell me I was 15 minutes late to which I replied I was 14 but I called and I would expect the person who answered to tell me if I'm 15 minutes to reschedule to which she didn't. I work so getting off work and being told I'm SOL when I called in is not my ideal after non!! Then the DR flat out calls me a liar and asks me to leave!! I get the policy and I would appreciate it as a parent if someone else showed up late and it impacted my appointment however the reaction of the staff and the way it was addressed to me in front of other people and my daughter is disgusting. Last two times I had a prescription refill I called it in and got called back verifying the information, and the next day I go in and they aren't ready. This is a really good office if you want traditional care for your children. I only met Dr. Brian Gablehouse in the hospital when my daughter was born. We saw PAs for all our appointments. From the beginning, I was told my daughter was too small. At our 2 week appointment, the PA told me her birth weight wasn't great....um..not much I can do about that! Needless to say, I left that appointment in tears and worried that sooner or later they would start pushing formula on me. Sure enough, at around 6 months, I got the "you NEED to put her on formula" talk. We had been seeing Jessica and I really did like her, but I didn't agree with the notion that my daughter (who was gaining weight, just not fast enough in their eyes) NEEDED to be put on formula. Come to find out, they were using the formula fed chart to track her height and weight, so she wasn't off the charts (on the low end) after all, she was just on the lower end. As of right now, my daughter is 15 months and in the 75th percentile for weight, and I didn't put her on formula. I felt like Jessica felt my pain about having to put my daughter on formula, and when I brought up alternatives, she said that Dr. Gablehouse didn't agree with those alternatives. Right there I realized that anyone I saw there would have the same views. I get it, you want like minded people working there so children are all taken care of the same way. It makes sense, but it wasn't the kind of pediatrician I wanted for my daughter. Jessica did, however, agreed to a staggered vaccination schedule. That was a plus. This is a horrible office. When you call, they literally mumble their name and then immediately put you on hold, they don't even greet you in a friendly manner. I have actually complained TO one of the mid-level providers in person about their extremely RUDE front desk staff. I have received NO follow up and have even requested someone call me regarding my complaint and no one has ever followed up with me. The front desk won't smile or greet us when we approach the desk and they make you feel like you are putting them out!!! I have never been able to see an MD unless I schedule months in advance. They never followed up with me when my child was due for vaccinations, they said that my child never even RECEIVED vaccinations when I took him in for his 6 month check up. They did not update the state site where they are required to report vaccination dates. Once, when we had a 1pm apt and got there a little early, I asked if we should go and come back since we were quite early. VERY RUDELY and condescendingly the front desk gal said "I don't even know what's going on, I just got back from lunch!" I called to ask about Mychart and how I can only see one of my children on there, they did nothing to help and just gave me a number to call at Children's where I just got a voicemail. Honestly, I am so upset that we ever went to this office. They are horrible and I do not recommend them at all. Even when we do see the mid level providers, care is very mediocre. I am beyond disappointed. I can't even get my records from these people to send to another office because we are LEAVING THIS OFFICE to go to a much better pediatrician where I know I will be getting great care. My family has been patient's for almost five years now and have always had a great experience with both Dr. Gablehouse and the PA's. I have always felt they had my daughters best intrest, and have never felt they suggested any treatmeint that wasn't nessary. They have a very friendly, educated and careing staff. I would recommend this practice to any new mom. read more

The Thornton location is so UNBELIEVABLY unprofessional!! I cannot tell you how many times I have left voicemail's on their "Nurse Line" and never receive a call back. The front desk staff is complete incompetent. Anytime I ask to speak with someone, I'm forwarded to a voicemail which is completely pointless because they can't seem to return a phone call. The doctor's, themselves, are great but I'm not sure where they got the rest of their office staff.... totally useless! Do yourself a favor and find another pediatric office. read more

Only rating ONE star because it made me! The nurse didn't wash her hands or use hand sanitizer before touching my premature baby. She pretended too, the only reason we knew was because I had tried the pump prior to her coming in the room and it didn't work for me or my husband. They got mad every time I would bring my son to the "well" side vs the side where all the sick kids went. read more

BE CAREFUL! I had my twins at Lutheran Medical and they were the pediatrics on call. My son was in the NICU and being treated by their clinic. I was impressed with Dr. Brian Gablehouse at first. We were sent home with my daughter as my son had to stay in the NICU for longer on oxygen. The doctors from Childrens hospital took over for the weekend and were so informative and kind so I expected the plan for my son to come home on that monday on oxygen would stay the same. My husband and I were at the NICU from 9 am to 5pm and never saw the doctor from Peak nor did our nurse. In fact, my husband and I brought our little girl in to their office for a wellness cheakc and ASKED about the prognosis of my son and they said they didn't know but the doctor would call us. Around 6pm that night I called the office asking if the doctor had stopped by or what was going on because even the nursing staff had no clue why my son was not sent home on oxygen that day as he passed all of his tests to go home. The receptionist was rude and hung up on me and when one of the nurses FINALLY got a hold of Dr. Yadira Caraveo, she said she was there and assessed my son earlier that day but according to the nursing staff they NEVER saw her and she NEVER told them that she wanted my son to stay another night. When I spoke with her in front of the nursing staff she wsa rude and hurtful. As a new mother with one child in the NICU crying on the phone asking how my son was and why she hadn't called her response was I was going to get around to it I was just busy. Then she said "well what do you want, do you just want to change providers because I am fine with that." Even the nurses in the NICU were surprised by how rude she was and had me file a complaint. Thank God for the wonderful nurses in the NICU, they directed me to a new pediatrician and I love them. Please be careful with this clinic! I never want another mom to go through what I did. read more
