Pea pod needs to redeem themselves with us after yesterday. My girlfriend placed our order for 4-6pm delivery, truck broke down, no phone call, call them at 6, they tell my it will be there by 9pm.....9pm comes, no pea pod, no call....we call them and they tell us that it cannot be delivered for 2 days, and only between 9am and 1pm, we work till 4....Ended up canceling our order unfortunately cause we could not wait 2 more days or get a good time. Hope they get it straight next time or we will not be returning customers. Super unprofessional. Safeway delivery is looking like the right choice when we need a delivery. read more

- 10 stars if I could! horrible company and system. didn't get off the delivery charge or $20 off as a first time customer. had issues setting up account that I had to call them about for starters. no biggie those things happen but then it gets worse. adding things to the cart goes ok but you will have no idea of how much your total bill will cost until after you get the food. we got a meat item that had an approximate price when adding to the cart but price goes way up once they weigh the item. ordered produce that only tells you its on of stock after you place order. the biggest pita is trying to get a hold of them! tried contacting them from the account but when you submit question it does not go through. so I called them and on hold for 27 minutes!! spent 10 minutes trying to understand their complicated way of billing after I got through. I am still convinced I'm getting the shaft even after they take off the delivery charge and 20 bucks. they use fuzzy math. bottom line you will have to check every order and make sure you are charged correctly and expect to waste a lot of time going over everything and being on hold forever! I could have gone to the store and been back in less than 40 minutes. my bad for being a lazy a$$ . Don't use Peapod. They have delivered my groceries late repeatedly. The customer service line just acts like it's not a big deal.

Convenient, but flaky. Produce is VERY hit or miss, and by hit or miss, I mean they send both under-ripe fruits and veggies and rotting fruits and veggies. Very poor quality control. So easy! really cuts down on my shopping trips & saves gas & time! All i do now is order on Thursday or Friday about every 2 weeks & then on Saturday just go to the farmer market for my fresh veggies. At times I do go to teh store just to pick up a few things that i just rather pick up myself like ice cream, little things, I have not had a problem on the freshness of my fresh products that i do order, they are always really fresh & my dairy and meat are always perfect. Order your vittles and you got a full day to edit right there on the computer. Go to a store and they got you by the mittens. One time I went to get Brie cheese and walked out of there spending $210. That was a bad year tho. Now I find that a store is so distracting that it agitates. Its like a tailored suit that fits like a glove when you adjust your order to a masterpiece of frugalness. If there is mould on the blueberries in a few days in the Debbie Myers ( Green Boxes ) they will refund with just a call. No problem. Kind of got addicted to Peapod when I had eye surgery and was hopping curbs driving the car. I think the more they see you as a reg. customer, the more they play ball is what it is. read more

To whom it may concern, On 7/13 my mother-in-law was to have received a dozen roses for her 90th Birthday along with the goodies I usually send her through Peapod. She did not get them. On 8/14 , I spent hours on hold with multiple phone calls trying to get her the flowers to her on her birthday!!!! IT WAS HER 90TH BIRTHDAY! I was assured that it was "impossible" to deliver them on Friday but that she would get them on Saturday. SHE NEVER GOT THE ROSES! I can't describe how angry and disappointed I am in your company. I am about to write a seething review and post it on every website I can. I have been a long time customer, as originally a CT native, Arizona transplant, I have always used you to take care of my mother in law. You have lost my business. The eggs came absolutely crushed And the driver left three big ugly dirty food totes in my driveway and so far I haven't been able to get Peapod to come pick up these eye sores. At different points they've suggested that I put it out with the garbage or that I recycle them. They must be doing well financially to throw out these items. I still want them to pick them up. I agree with many of the other reviewers that Peapod started out so impressively, and in the past, always delivered in the scheduled window of time. But the last four times I have ordered have all had late deliveries, way past the designated cut off time, and the last time, they stated that they were out of stock of 30 gallon trash bags. I would have thought that this might be something which could have had a replacement? Instacart has proven to be far more reliable, with fresher fruits and veggies, and hasn't yet made me sit at home waiting for 3 hours for the truck to arrive. read more

Been out of stock on almost every product for MONTHS-but Stop&Shop at Instacart-has the products-and they are my local Peapod store-used them at least 5 years but done until they meet customers needs-why do all other stores have the supplies and they don't? If they don't have it you can't correct it-like "no substitute" for Tide-but would have to order 3-4 other detergents-and still get maybe none-or all of them!! Last night I submitted an order through Peapod online for pick up today. I didn't get even half of what I ordered. They have this "no contact" pick up. You open your trunk, they load it up and they tell you to drive away. Well when I got in to check my items, more than half were missing. I would expect maybe one or two items but not more than half. I don't know why they are missing. They had from 11:00 AM (order lock in time) on the Peapod site to 8:00 PM to pick the items. I honestly think it was laziness. They just didn't want to do the shopping. I never got a notification that any of the items were unavailable. The website showed that not only were the items available, it was new stock. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! Take the risk. Go inside Giant and do your own shopping that way you don't have to do it twice. read more

I have been a customer of Peapod since they started and it has been terrific - I am a senior in my 70s and when weather is bad or I'm feeling badly, Peapod helps me out. What a relief!!! However, over the years Peapod is no longer the only game in town. I am now shopping regularly on Amazon Prime where prices are great and selections are fantastic. Yes, I still use Peapod but am disappointed regularly in their veges that arrive banged up or overly ripe, selections are out of stock too often etc. Yesterday their website was not working properly so I called and was told that I need to upgrade my browser to Google Chrome ... no, I have a computer business and why should I have to do that? My neighbor was having a delivery today. The driver blocked our street with her truck, even though there was plenty of avaiable parking at the curbside. I asked the driver if she could park her truck, so I could get by. The driver said, "DO YOU WANT TO DELIVER THIS $400. WORTH OF STUFF?" I said no, all I would like to do is drive up my street, and your truck has the entire street blocked. The driver picked up a 12 pack of Coke shook it at me, and told me to get the "F**** out of my face!" and slammed the truck door. When she finally exited the truck, she went to the wrong house to make the delivery; to further delay the occurrence. I called the police and reported the threat. The police came and basically told her to get the delivery finished, and move the truck. The truck had the street blocked for over 20 minutes. The police told me to report the incident to Giant Foods. Unfortunately, Giant manager said the stores have "nothing to do with Peapod." He promised he would call me back with information on reporting the incident. WOW...Peapod! That incident should not be taken lightly, since this employee is your representative. read more

I have been using Peapod almost weekly since my children were little and I didn't feel like taking them grocery shopping. I used to love it. When COVID-19 started I felt like they were a godsend, but since then, the quality has deteriorated steadily. The driver is always super friendly and I still appreciate not having to shop in the store, but the quality of the food has become horrendous. The last few times I've ordered lettuce it was brown; the apples were rotten; grapes moldy; tomatoes were smashed; avocados were so overripe my finger went through it when I picked it up; eggs broken; bread flattened. I've submitted requests for refunds for these items, but weeks later still nothing, and no response. I realize with the current situation, things are more difficult and although I'm not thrilled with "out of stock" items, I can live with it. I can also live with an occasional smashed item. But by repeatedly sending old, rotten, moldy, produce, not hiring enough people so the packers/drivers don't smash bread, eggs, etc., Peapod makes it clear it doesn't care about my business any more. We have been using Peapod for years. We have always been concerned about the amount of plastic bags they use but this last delivery was the worst. 112 items ordered and 68 bags used. Each can of cat food had its own bag and the english muffins were double bagged. It was unbelievably wasteful. Especially given the ban on plastic bags why they are still using them is beyond me. Other services use boxes that they reuse. We will be ending our delivery service through Peapod until they become less wasteful. read more

Peapod can be good or bad. DO NOT order frozen meals from them. Sometimes they are thawed and refrozen and one was slightly open. I told them about cucumbers I got that were too soft to use and they gave me a refund with an apology. I realize that the packers are rushed with a lot to do but they need to choose and pack as if they were packing for their own family and that's what I told Peapod. Mostly the food I get is fresh and delivery is on time. Sometimes I will get a call that delivery will be an hour late. That usually happens if a driver calls in sick or his truck breaks down and they have to reassign that route which doubles work for other drivers. I tried using the curbside pickup several times so I didn't have to go inside during the pandemic. They were only loading dry goods. They removed anything that was refrigerated from my order under the guise of 'no availability'. This included milk, OJ, meat, ice cream, etc. Since I still had to go in to buy these items, there's no reason to use the curbside pickup. read more

I've always gotten the freshest and best produce and meats in my orders in the past and bragged about to all my naysayer friends. But recently I got tuna fillets that were only good for 1 day past my date of purchase ( and were not on special or clearance), a pineapple that was already overripe and a few other less than top quality items. I hope it was just a one time thing. I have been using Pea Pod for over 2 years now and the past 3 months have been an absolute nightmare. I have repeatedly been told by Pea Pod management "oh yes, we see that your area has been experiencing difficulties with shoppers & drivers"....awesome! It has come to the point that if I schedule a 2 hour delivery window, I know to buffer that by another 2 hours when the groceries will actually show up. It's a shame; it's such a great concept but something tells me I can find a better grocery deliver service with less hassle. My driver was extremely late and all of my frozen stuff had melted. I tried to call the customer service number but they closed and stopped taking calls before my driver arrived. So they have delivery people out making deliveries but no way to get help or updates at the same time the delivery is supposed to be happening. I've been continually disappointed with the freshness (or lack thereof). I've had to get refunds for a large pack of green lamb chops, 2 large packs of smelly chicken, stale bread, produce that spoils within a day or two, and bags packed so badly that pastries and bread had been ruined. Customer service is great. They issue refunds for any complaints, but that doesn't fix the holes in my menu nor get replacements delivered. Today, I waited from 10:am to 12noon for delivery. no show!! no call!. I called and they said my delivery is been moved to sometime between 7pm to 8pm. Peapod has the worst website in the business. The worst site I have used in many a year. I will not do any more business via Peapod. After placing a large order for delivery, where the first delivery date was two week away, I wanted to place a pick up order for a few things. When you sign onto the site, it defaults to your existing order. It only allows you to alter the existing order set for delivery. You cannot start a differnent order. You cannot check aviaiblility of curb side pickup for any store. (I live within 15 minutes of 4 Giant Food Stores.) If you wish to change your existing delivery order to a pick up, you must CANCEL the delivery order. After you select a store for a pickup order, if there are no available times, you CANNOT CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT STORE. It defaults to that one store. Absolutely terrible "service". Please never use this "service", take it from me. Save yourself time and hassle and stress. I honestly can't believe their rating is so high at 2.5 stars. I filled up my shopping cart Saturday morning with $200 of food, pet supplies, and BABY SUPPLIES. Not until you're all ready to check out do they tell you the only "delivery" window is for 4 pm to 11 pm on Sunday evening. OK, fair enough. I wish you'd told me this sooner, but ok. I usually go get groceries on Sunday morning for the week, but figured we can wait until Sunday evening. Really need those diapers though. They call at 8:30 pm and tell me the driver is being re-routed by police and can't get here. Also the driver has been trying to get in touch with me for over an hour. (A total lie - no missed calls at all). They want to reschedule. I tell them the block starting at the corner where my apartment is is closed for a festival, but if they just come down 6th street, they can get to the corner of 6th and C where we are, no problem. She said ok, she'll tell him. She calls back with a big BS sob story about how he cant' get here. LAZY! Just found an excuse to get out of doing his/her job. So I have to reschedule. She says she'll transfer me to customer service. She sends me to some 800 number, where I have to start at the very beginning of the menu. Press "1" if you are an existing customer, and on and on. THEN I SIT ON HOLD FOR 30 MINUTES! I'm not exaggerating. That's right. They failed to live up to their very simple and very easy side of the agreement of driving food to my house. And then they make me wait on hold for 30 minutes. At this point it's so bad it's almost funny. When I finally get someone on the phone the very nice lady tells me that unfortunately there's no deliveries available for tomorrow. I explain that my delivery was for Sunday, and if they can't do Sunday they'll have to do Monday morning. She said they can't make any deliveries Monday morning. So I get up Monday morning and head out the door at 5:30 to walk the dog and I s--t you not, there is a Pea Pod truck right outside my building, presumably there to deliver someone else's order. This is so bad. I would say only use Pea Pod if you don't really care if you get your delivery or not, and then you should be 100% satisfied! What Peapod does for me.. It saves me gas, time and aggravation. I do not have to go to the store, look for a space, deal with some screaming kid at the register, nor deal with the People at check-out who don't have money, who do have money but do not know where it is, who have a check, but it is back in their car.. Peapod delivers right to my door.. Over the years it has been progressively better.. During this past Summer they did an upgrade in their warehouse that caused a lot of on-time issues, these seemed to be their worse in late June through July.. As of late, they seem to be back to normal. What I really like is that their Dispatch team DOES call you if the Truck is running late.. I do **UNDERSTAND** that the Peapod truck cannot fly, and that it can be held up by weather, traffic, another customer (I understand the reality that the driver has more then one customer to deliver to on the truck).. Most of the drivers I deal with are extremely nice, one of them always highlights anything that may have been out of stock. And as of late, it seems to be on the Bill, so I know right away if there is something missing. Their delivery fee is only 6.95, I fond that an excellent deal.. 6.95 is less then the gas and time it takes for me to do it for myself, by a long shot. When you go to the store, they might not have everything you are looking for, when you shop at Peapod, you don't know if you are going to get everything or not.. But I will tell you all this, if something isn't right a call to their Customer service gets it right.. most times it is a credit for the food, and they even take the delivery charge off. I find Peapod very responsive to my complaints.. Drivers have been better as of late, and they moral seems to have improved as well. I truly love using the service, I do not wait for them to come, if I need to do something, I call their Customer Service and let them know, they will then leave the order in boxes that have dry ice and ice packs right where I want them left, for me, I have them leave them in my enclosed porch. next time they deliver, they usually remove the boxes, sometimes they don't, but they usually do.. Couldn't live without this, as I am very attached to it.. Once in a while I drop by a Shoppers or Giant to get a few impulse items, but not having to go to the store, having all that time to myself, not dealing with screaming kids, and not to mention the sickness in people that is all around the Grocery store.. Welp, fairly consistent with the other reviews, my first experience with PeaPod sucked ass. I scheduled my pick up window for 8-10 pm, when I knew I would home. I get an email from my leasing office, not PeaPod, saying that my delivery had arrived around 3 pm and that the office would close at 7 pm. But wait...my delivery window was supposed to be 8-10 pm. This was all wrong!!! I had perishable items. Fortunately, when I got home, the office was still open later than usual. I had to lug three heavy boxes up 6 flights of stairs. What's the purpose of grocery delivery if you still gotta carry the items? At any rate, I'll stick with InstaCart. Ain't nobody got time to be messing around with PeaPod and their foolywang. I've been using Peapod regularly for about 4 months now (~ 1.5 orders a month) and I'm fed up with it. There are good things that they're trying to do... but those do not remotely outweigh the awful end result. Let's start with the good: The Good: * Phone customer service: never had to wait, always take my word for things and credit the account and/or remove items from the order total. * Range of products available: With the caveat that even things that say they are available at the time of ordering may be out of stock once the order is loaded onto a truck... in other words, absolutely no way for you, the consumer, to know if you'll actually get your item. * Timing: While I haven't always been able to get my preferred delivery date or time, it's always been reasonable, and the driver shows up within the window all but one time (and that time just a little late). The texting before they arrive really helps. * Cost: Just about the least expensive. The Bad: * Availability of items: (see the last entry in "The Good") The fact is, their inventory system just doesn't work. I have never had an order where everything was available at the time of delivery. Never. * Missing items: Of my 6 orders, all but two were missing an item. Twice (30% of the time) there were multiple missing items. On this last order (my last ever) 20% of the items were missing (5 of ~25). * No redelivery: When you have missing items the *only* recourse that customer service has is to remove it from your order total. They have no ability to resend an item (or two or three or...) that day. In other words, when they don't deliver 20% of your order, and you need at least a couple of those items to make dinner that night, you're just screwed. * "Extra" items: I'm not talking about freebies (which they also do), I'm talking about random items from other people's orders that make it into my home. Today it was 3 jugs of sweet tea... I do not drink sweet tea. * The bags: ... oh my god the bags. You can read other reviews on here for more on this, but for a 25-item order I had 12 plastic bags. * Delivery people: Yeah, I get it... it's a low paying job that doesn't really demand the friendliest people, but I have never gotten a repeat driver, and I have only had one "friendly" person. Most just grunt in my direction and shove the paper invoice in my hand. Half of them have left my gate open, but luckily I've learned to catch that so my dog doesn't run away. * Produce: Don't do it... just don't. Ordered over $200.00 worth of groceries Jan 8th with a time frame delivery of 8pm-10pm. I get an email at 10:42 stating my delivery is up next. I wait until 1:35 am for the order and still no one. It's now the next day and I STILL haven't received my order. I've been on the phone with customer service for like fifteen mins. Pea pod has horrible delivery and there have been times I've ordered fruit from them, it would always be old in a day or two, if not moldy when they deliver it to my door. I have been ordering my groceries for a year now. It seems like depending on your delivery window, service can be great or it can be horrible. If I can get a discount on delivery, then I probably would not complain, but I get ticked off when they are not on time. First of all, the unattended delivery windows are quite large, so if you tell me you will be there between 4:30 pm and 9:30 pm, I expect you to show up then. This dude arrived at 10:30 pm on a Tuesday night last week. I was highly irritated because I got off work late, and planned on putting away my food and going straight to bed that night. I didn't even get a status update to let me know he was running late. I thought that maybe they missed my delivery. When he arrived, he was stacking food outside my door without even ringing the bell. I opened the door and asked him to bring my food inside. So basically, if I went to bed, my food would have been sitting outside my door until morning without me knowing it. Unacceptable! I will only do morning deliveries from now on. read more
