I see a few recent reviews on here that are critical of Dr. Pearce's successor, Dr. Andre, but I've had a positive experience with him so far. Yes, in general, he's not as warm as or into small talk like Dr. Pearce was, but Dr. Andre is an excellent dentist. I recently had to have a dental procedure done that I was VERY nervous about and Dr. Andre overheard me telling his front desk staff I was nervous. He came right over, asked me why I was feeling nervous, answered my questions, and really took the time to put me at ease. He was wonderful throughout the whole procedure and I'm very pleased with the results. We love Dr. Pierce he was the best dentist, but when he retired and sold his business to Dr. Azarinfar, Things changed big time. This guy is about as gentle as a pitbull with a rope. We have a great dental plan that pays up to $1500 a year, but with doctor Azinfar all of a sudden we need all this dental work for six to $7000.We went and got a second opinion and as we thought none of it was necessary! read more

After being a loyal customer for last 15 years, I had to discontinue using this dental office due to new ownership, under Andre Azarinfar. I found his demeanour to be very unprofessional, rude and discourteous. It took him 5 minutes to destroy my long relationship with the clinic and with Alice, who has been instrumental in maintaining my dental well-being for over a decade. The encounter I had with Mr. Azarinfar left me disheartened, as his conduct appeared to lack the professionalism and courtesy that I have long enjoyed with previous owner. Not recommending this clinic to anyone under new ownership of Andre Azarinfar. read more

I've now been here twice - first for a chipped tooth that Dr. Pearce quickly took care and now for a cleaning. This is a great practice. Dr. Pearce and his team are professional and nice. I have never actually been excited about a dentist before. I am posting this late as I went in late November for my minor cavity filling but I obviously have had this establishment on my mind long enough to finally post about it 2 months later. The staff was great & Dr. Pearce, himself, was great. They were friendly and inviting and informative. I'm not going to share the details of my personal experience but I will say that it was a great one and I have found a dentist that I will stick with! I've been moving around and trying different ones out for a couple of years now. Bonus points that this one is only a 5 minute drive from my office and within my budget, too! read more

Today, I had a dental emergency that I felt needed immediate attention. Unfortunately, my regular dentist couldn't see me for 3 weeks so I turned to Yelp to find something in my neighborhood. I called Dr. Pearce's office at 1:15pm and the office manager said, "if you come in now we can fit you in." AMEN!!! I filled out the paperwork and within 5 minutes I was sitting in a chair talking with one of his lovely assistants. Dr. Pearce sized up my tooth debacle and immediately addressed the issue with complete professionalism, humor & skill! (Who ever likes going to the dentist!?! I don't.) All of his associates were sweet and also very professional. I was so impressed by my experience I wanted to Yelp Dr. Pearce & Associates while I was sitting in the chair. I am forever grateful for his office accommodating me on such short notice and I can now leave on a business trip pain & worry free. I'm so glad that my regular dentist couldn't fit me in so that I could discover Dr. Pearce and his great staff. Annette called me to let me know they had a cancellation and I was able to be seen the day after I had called them complaining of tooth pain. I loved Dr. Pearce's conservative approach to treatment and not wanting to upsell on unnecessary procedures. My last holistic dentist insisted I needed to replace all of my fillings and i found out that wasn't the case. He's saved me a ton of money and gave me some great options for reducing my tooth grinding. The dental hygienist Dao numbed my sensitive gums for a quick and painless cleaning procedure. Dr. Pearce is the kind of dentist that returns your stressed emergency call from his own hospital bed....True story! He has a big practice with a family feel to it as evidenced by the great competency and vibe of he and his staff. I look forward to going to the dentist! I am intent on supporting local entrepreneurs and local business where I am a person, not another sale. This office is one of those places! Dentists are like hair stylists and massage therapists. When I find a stellar one, I stick close and sing their praises loudly. Its been over ten years since I found myself fortunate to end up in Dr. P's care. I visited Dr. Pearce when I worked in Point Richmond in late 2005. I found him and his staff to be very pleasant. It's the first time I've had a root cleaning, and was handled in 2 appointments, (left side / right side). I have to mention that the hygeniest, although polite and professional, wasn't what I would consider gentle. But I really believe she was working hard, and knew what she was doing. I could tell that the most pain / cleaning was in the areas I knew were most susceptible to decay. I know my mouth pretty well. It probably sounds masochistic, but the pain was more of a good pain - as opposed to the deep, sensitive, nerve pain. It was a "no pain, no gain" type of pain. She gave me lots of good advise - like rinse with warm saltwater, and described how plaque and tartar work to destroy enamel. She advised me to buy a water pik, and I've used one just about every morning since. I think it was one of my best investments. It forces water into the areas where even dental floss can't get. She also gave me instruments that could help to reach into 'pockets' where floss and a toothbrush can't reach. I don't think they had the latest and greatest equipment, and they took a conservative approach - not pushing costly, unnecessary work. The office is in what seems to be a converted victorian house. The only reason I don't go anymore is that I no longer work in or visit Point Richmond. But I would at least recommend them if you live or work in the area, and need a basic cleaning. read more

The best dental experience you could ever hope for. Dr. Pearce and his associates are extremely pleasant to deal with and good people to the core. I have had several fillings here with no fuss or pain and no problems. After my initial examination and cleaning I was given a clear and concise breakdown of my dental situation: my issues, their likely causes, better habits to prevent them in the future, and an explanation of the possible repairs and their costs. It's been very easy to deal with. Strongly recommend doing your teeth here if you can! My Dad has had some more complex work done, with nothing but good things to say. He, in fact, referred me. Upon first meeting Dr. Pearce I was impressed because I had read his Yelp reviews to a certain extent although not minutely. I had called to make an appointment regarding an inlay onlay on tooth number 15 and I had spoken with I believe Annette at the front office desk who told me that he does do inlays and onlays and he could do an inlay onlay on half the tooth even if it's half decayed. Now I realize I should have taken the advice of someone in the dental profession who told me that I should always get confirmation from the dentist preferably or alternatively the hygienist but I should never get any kind of promise of what the appointment will cover from the receptionist or front office staff because they're not that knowledgeable. Anyway when I got there he refused to do an inlay onlay on the tooth so I felt like I'd been betrayed. He pretty quickly told me that I would have to have all my upper teeth replaced to a total of between $10,000 and $25,000 depending on what I had done. To all of you who are reading this you should definitely read all the reviews including the one saying that he did not take care of a woman's implant correctly causing her a lot of pain and suffering. He did call himself the best in his field in the appointment as well as his hygienist being the best possible and the work that would be done would be the best possible I would have the best smile in the world too much perfection and not possible and I don't believe it. He even made some reference to the fact that if I'm out of breath which I had admitted on my medical form from the fires recently causing asthma-like symptoms that that could be a symptom of congenital heart failure but he has no knowledge to make that kind of statement because he's not a heart doctor or even a doctor; he's a dentist. Aside from all this the office was extremely clean and professional and there is ample parking available is very conveniently located in Point Richmond. The appointment did make it obvious that he does have some good qualities but they had nothing to do with my appointment and nothing to do with dentistry. read more

Nice hygenist, nice dentist... they're all nice and seem to do good work. But getting a reply to a phone call or email is, pardon the expression, like pulling teeth. First, I'll chime in to say that Robert Pearce is a smart, dedicated dentist who is enthusiastic about his work, and, as one person said, a perfectionist. He seems very educated to me and up on all things dental. I trust him. Also he uses holistic techniques--which is why I began going to him. I needed mercury fillings removed and my old dentist refused to use the proper safe techniques (rubber dam, oxygen, etc.). Also, he does have a nice staff. (Forget trying to call and get a real person to answer though. It is rare to get a real person.) On the other hand, this office is anything but peaceful. if you are someone who doesn't like a lot of buzz around you, who needs a calm and quiet environment, this is not the place. This noise factor is making me seek out a new dentist. I don't really want to, because I have confidence in Pearce. Just can't stand being there. He jokes around a lot, which might be nice, except it means there's a lot of chatter, mostly between him and his staff. And there's always music going. And the acoustics in the place amplify the noise. Last time I went I brought ear plugs! Also contributing to this: Dr. Pearce works on more than one person at a time (sometimes 3 at once); so he goes back and forth. And while this obviously has nothing to do with noise, it does create a sort of unsettled and frenetic feeling. It makes perfect sense for HIM logistically because during most procedures there are periods where something has to dry or set, and he would just be twiddling his thumbs waiting. But it does result in the patient waiting longer than necessary to get done and out of there. None of this would bother a normally healthy person, but if you are sensitive to noise, get sensory overload, or generally don't feel well, you might want to look for a calmer environment. Also, as one person mentioned, I was shocked to find an extra $30 on my bill one time, after I'd been in for a cleaning. I inquired. Oh, they said, that was for the exam. And as the other person mentioned, if it was 3 minutes it was a lot! Since I protested, they removed the charge. Eventually it was explained to me-- that he only does that check once a year. I still think it's outrageous. I've never had a dentist charge for this. I think it's just a slick way of making extra money. read more

I had a bit of an emergency where some temporary Veneer teeth had fallen out over night. It looked terrible and made it hard for me to talk. I contacted Dr Pierce and he was nice enough to see me right away. He fixed my teeth quickly and easily free of charge since I am a regular there and it didnt take much time. Dr Pearce and his staff are professional, efficient, friendly, accomodating and exceptional in their dental work! My daughter and I have been clients of Dr. Pearce for 10 years. We have never had a bad experience, in fact, I was afraid of dentists until I started seeing Dr. Pearce. I have had two crowns, cavities filled, and a chipped tooth and all my visits have been pleasant, relaxing and the results have been exceptional. My daughter who is 16, has had the same experience. I have also had a couple of emergencies and the office has always been able to fit me in. I am also very impressed that Dr. Pearce volunteers his time to provide dental services in Guatamaela. After three implants, numerous crowns, cleaning and whitening, I must say, this is the warmest doctors office I have ever encountered. Dr. Pearce's workmanship is excellent. He is focused, efficient and good humored, with a wonderful staff of skilled hygienists and technicians. It seems that every time I visit this office, I see new images of Dr. Pearce and associates serving the less fortunate in some Third World country. I had a really bad experience with Dr. Pearce & Associates! I went there for placing an implant, but the surgery went terribly wrong. It wasn't performed by Dr. Pearce himself but by one of his associates, Jasmine Bhuva. The hole that she drilled into my jaw bone in order to place an implant was too big and the implant didn't fit. After reading numerous dental articles and blogs online and consulting with several other dental surgeons I know that this is a mistake and something that should not have happened. Dr. Pearce was there as well and witnessed the failed surgery. I was disappointed that instead of being concerned about it, he made jokes - very insensitive! The hole was patched up and stitched poorly, 2-3 days later it got infected and the same dentist prescribed antibiotics without even seeing me. I was in a lot of pain during the following 2 weeks.The stitches were supposed to be removed after 2 weeks, but due to the poor closure, the wound was still open and had to be re-stitched - another 2 weeks of agony. On top of it all, I had major problems with Dr. Pearce's administration, asking them to fix their insurance claims at multiple times for over 3 months! In the meantime, due to their administrative mistake, I wasn't able to use my dental insurance. Overall - a major disappointment, to state it mildly. Please avoid this place, especially for dental implants! read more

I have gone here for cleanings. The hygienist is very good. I do not like their practices to extort fees for xrays when I go for a cleaning. I am uninsured and underemployed.and I was very clear that I wanted a cleaning, period and asked the price. 92 was the quote. I said that is all I wanted, Dr Pearce comes in to say hi, the hygienist, casually asks him to have a look. No lie, less than one minute, and they charged me 32 bucks for the privilege. If you want the best dentist this is the place to go! Dr. Pearce is truly talented and passionate about treating his patients with the newest technologies out there. He only performs the treatment that you need (breath of fresh air compared to some dentists out there who tend to over diagnose!) and gives you a straight answer when it comes to your questions or concerns. He takes his time with all of his procedures and makes sure you understand what is going on. When it comes to getting your teeth cleaned Alice and Dao, the Hygenists, are very gentle and thorough. Both ladies are extremely nice and tentative to their patients needs. At the front desk is the most helpful receptionist out there, Annette. She can answer any questions with treatment plans and financing. The office also participates in humanitarian work and continued education every year! Robert Pearce has been my dentist for 14 years. through many a dental problems, he and his staff have been the soul of consideration and help. I have had several emergencies, everyone connected with his staff has met my need with speed and curtsy. He stays up to date on new materials and procedures. He is very careful to let one know what is happening and what to anticipate as a result of a procedure. He also let you know what can be the result of not taking care of a problem. I have been to see Dr. Pearce more than several times in the past two years and have witnessed how he interacts with his patients and staff. He took my situation into consideration, and based his recommendations on what was the best treatment for me, given my situation, and not for his own benefit. He listened to my concerns, as I heard him listen to other patients as well, and will not give a standard treatment sales pitch. He will give you the best personalized dental treatment plan just for you. I even saw him take patients out of their dental chair, to another part of the office that had the proper natural lighting, so he could get the shades and color of their new front teeth just perfect! He is obviously very proud of his work, and wants his patients to be just as happy. His staff and his hygienists are thorough, friendly and accommodating. Dr. Pearce is great. I came to him after my Mill Valley dentist put a crown on tooth #19 resulting in a lot of pain and was told that would deminish after 6 - 8 weeks, if not I would need a root canal. I was recommended to Dr. Pearce (by my Naturopath) who found the crown did not fully cover the tooth revealing decay had been left behind, which could be causing the pain. He removed my new crown and the decay left behind and my tooth is pain free. He is putting a new crown on using a material much stronger than the CERAC crown that my Mill Valley dentist put on, explaining that CERAC crowns are not the best for the teeth we chew with (back teeth) which is another plus for Dr. Pearce and a minus for my Mill Valley Dentist. Dr. Pearce has 20 years of experience practicing dentistry, while keeping current on proceedures/materials/training. I highly recommend Dr. Pearce. I have had 3 dentists in the last 6 years, all have actually caused problems in my mouth, fillings too high changing my bite, or poorly fitted crowns. Dr. Pearce calls it like he sees it, and will take the time to expain your options and why he recommends them. I overheard him working with a patient in the next chair while removing his old mecury fillings. I was impressed with his explainations to the patient and his process which he step by step explained to that patient. Most dentists will not even acknowledge a problem with metal in your mouth. I also had my teeth cleaned by his staff, very gentle, the best cleaning I have had in years. The staff are helpful and busy, but not too busy to take a moment to make you feel welcome! read more
