    Fried Noodle

This is your classic Chinese restaurant. Dimly lit, black tables, and a boy rolling up wontons in the back seating area. I got the friend noodles with pork! It was a lot of noodles. And their egg rolls are delish! It was pretty dead, being a day before New Year's Eve, with only one other family besides us. So our server made sure our drinks never went below half way. They had plenty of pick up orders tho! Thanks for being my final restaurant in 2023!!

We have been looking for 4 months for a great Chinese restaurant that we can call home. Our last Chinese restaurant that we had gone to for over 30 years had closed so we were on a mission to find an authentic Chinese restaurant. We read the reviews on Yelp and Google and decided to give Pearl Chinese Restaurant a try. We went on a Sunday evening and we were the only dine in customers most the others were people picking up their orders. The waiter was very friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant was neat and clean. The temperature of the restaurant was a little warmer then I would like during a summer time but it was bearable. I ordered Szechuan beef, orange chicken with fried rice. My wife ordered sesame chicken with steamed rice and an order of vegetable lo mein. For appetizers we ordered crab rangoon and steamed dumplings. Wow!!!!!! I was so happy to find a restaurant that knows how to prepare a Szechuan plate that was so perfect. For me if a Chinese restaurant can't make Szechuan properly it is a deal breaker. Pearl Chinese Restaurant definitely knows how to make Szechuan. The orange chicken was extremely good with a slight sweetness plus a hint of spice to it. The sesame chicken was totally on point slightly sweet but just the right amount. The vegetable lo mein is another plate that myself and my wife are very picky about. And yes the Lo mein at Pearl Chinese Restaurant was another homerun for us. Our crab rangoons with dipping sauce was extremely good and the steamed dumplings with sauce was also excellent. After speaking to the waiter he advised me that Pearl Chinese Restaurant has been in Grapevine for 30 years. This made us very happy to hear. I do know some people have given Pearl Chinese Restaurant a low rating or have not had a good experience at times. But our experience was beyond great and we now have a new favorite Chinese restaurant that we will now call home. Thank you Pearl Chinese Restaurant for the great food we look forward to our next visit.

The soup is so delicious. The service is so polite. I recommend the crispy beef. The ambiance is lovely, and they play some nice music.

The dumplings themselves absolutely lived up to the hype--perfectly delicate with a flavorful broth inside. We also ordered the dim sum combination, additional dim sum, and lo mein, and everything came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The variety in the dim sum was impressive, and the lo mein had a great texture and seasoning that tied the meal together nicely. You can tell there's real skill in the kitchen when it comes to the food. My only complaint was noticing the staff making the fresh dumplings eating personal food while working. It took away a bit from the overall experience and professionalism you'd expect, especially in an open kitchen setting. That said, the food quality is definitely worth it, and I'd still recommend stopping by if you're craving authentic soup dumplings in the area. Solid 4 stars!

The restaurant itself is attractive both inside and outside. Upon entering we were quite hopeful that the food would match the decor. I started with egg drop soup and it was good but not as flavorful as others I have had. That would become a theme for our meal. The kid had steamed juicy dumplings and liked them, but she said that they were not as good as dumplings at Jeng Chi in Richardson. I tried a couple and agreed that they are not as good. They were fine, just not as good as others. The wife had beef noodle soup with broccoli and on the positive side the beef (brisket) was incredibly tender. However, the noodles were way over cooked and the broth lacked something. It did not have a deep, developed flavor. I had garlic chicken and on the positive side, the chicken was tender and the many types of veggies were cooked well. However, the dish was bland. It really had very little flavor, and I said to the wife that if I did not know it was garlic chicken, I would never have guessed. It was just bland. The service was friendly but our server disappeared for long periods of tine. The dumplings and soups came out fast, but my dish took forever. I actually thought that our server went on break or went home for the day. it was a really long wait. We probably would not return to this restaurant again.

Should've done a side-by-side, but it was only me. Lol. The fish was exquisite. The heat was also good. This dish pairs really well with rice; I also enjoy taking the leftovers home, letting them sit overnight in the fridge, and enjoying with more rice. Mmm! But I am from out of town and was alone, so I ate it all there. They don't have WiFi, but there was some "guest Frontier" WiFi that was good for an hour. (And you can refresh it each hour.) Next time, I would try the "Szechuan Boiled Fish." Or if that's too much, the Mapo Tofu. The radio was playing like Christian soul; new to me, but as a Christian, I didn't mind. =) Oh, and in the pic I have my Kefir from Trader Joe's. I wanted something dairy to counter the heat, if needed. Mmm.

All the food was on the expensive side, but I heard it was good, so I didn't mine. One of the first thing I noticed was the entrees do not come with rice. There is a $1 up charge for white rice and $3 for fried rice, $5 for noodles. I have never experienced a Chinese restaurant that charged for white rice with an entree (not even PF Chang). I arrived 10 minutes after the time I was told my food would be ready. I checked in at the register and was told it would be another 5 minutes. I was told to have a seat and wait. Since there is no place to sit when waiting for a take out order, I sat down in the closet booth next to the register. After about 1 minute, a very rude lady came over in broken English and screamed that I could not sit there. I told her I was waiting on a to-go order and she just kept screaming "you don't can sit there", so I got up and stood by the front door. If my food had not already been paid for, I would have left after that rude encounter. The ambiance of the restaurant is very strange as they had a boombox loudly playing 80s music. It was so load, I felt bad for the customers who were eating at there. No way you could enjoy siting there listening to the annoying loud music while you ate. About 5 minutes later (15 minutes past the time they originally told me it would be ready) my food was ready. The food did come out very hot. I retrieved my food and took it home to enjoy. Overall the food is very basic and not worth the elevated price. The egg rolls were over fried and greasy. The spicy wonton were very bland and not spicy at all. The general Tso chicken was not good. Very small pieces of chicken, over breaded and a bland sauce. Again not spicy at all. The fried flat rice noodles were the biggest disappointment. Mushy noodles that were all stuck together. Not good at all. Overall the Noodle Works was a big disappointment. There are so many better option in the area (Dragon House or the Wok). Do yourself a favor and skip the rude staff Noodle Works.

But that wasnt the l kicker. I wanted to have a nice lunch and talk to my daughter. The waitress rushed us so that it bordered obscene! She interrupted us sooo many times and I'm not complaining that she was too efficient, she was annoying to the point of rude. I couldnt get in any good conversation as we couldnt even complete a thought! She was obviously wanting to turn the table quickly BUT A- they were not busy B-they had plenty of tables available C-they were not on a waiting list D- customers were only trickling in so she did NOT need our table, if she did I wouldve understood. People not only pick a restaurant for its food but also for the ambiance and comfortableness of it. I kept telling her we were fine, hoping she'd get the hint, she didnt. And unless you had experienced it, you probably are thinking it sounds like she was a good efficient waitress, but NO, it was so rude, and I'm sure she was trained to get customers in and rush them out as the manager lady kept coming over too as if we needed more interruptions! So by you rudely rushing us out may have got you a table quicker that you didnt even need but now youve lost a customer, so please make note of this, you were not on a waiting list, you did not need that table, so let your customer have an enjoyable experience and quit being interruptive and rude. Sure refill the tea, tale a plate, ask us if we are alright but then thats it, we were not there long, we ended up leaving and went to talk in the car. Thanks for a very bad experience, you only got two stars because I enjoyed my soup even though it was small, by the way egg drop soup costs pennies to make, you didnt need to make that smaller!
