First time patron here today. Very favorable impression upon walking through the door. Greeted with a poster/banner promoting a menu item called BLAZING DRAGON IN THE SKY....so, hey, what's not to love? We were shown a corner booth that was just perfect for our party. Our server was attentive to our needs and answered our inquiries thoughtfully and with enthusiasm. The atmosphere was the ideal setting for our gathering and the mood in the establishment was pleasant and friendly and bordered on festive. Gosh, when examining the menu was struck by how extant the variety of the appetizers were .......so we ordered four different types and were very pleased with the dumplings and the miso soup and the others that arrived. I had been to Dragon House before, but this was my first visit back after the restaurant received significant public attention due to past allegations. Rather than focus on that, I wanted to see how the food held up on this visit. We started with the Wagyu Beef Dumplings, and they were one of the best dishes of the night. The filling was juicy and flavorful with a nice balance of Wagyu beef, ginger, onions, cabbage, and scallions. The wrapper wasn't too thick, allowing the filling to be the star. The Stir-Fried Hand-Pulled Noodles were easily my favorite dish. The fresh noodles had the perfect chewy texture and were tossed with vegetables in a savory soy sauce that coated every noodle perfectly. It's a simple dish executed extremely well. We also ordered the House Chicken Fried Rice. The fried rice itself was excellent--well-seasoned, fluffy, and flavorful. My only criticism is that the chicken lacked seasoning and didn't stand out the way the rice did. If I ordered it again, I'd probably choose beef instead. Based on this visit, I'd absolutely recommend ordering the hand-pulled noodles and Wagyu dumplings. We went here for lunch after spending July 4th at the Gaylord Texan Resort. The reviews were good, the restaurant is close to the resort, and we were in the mood for Chinese. The restaurant itself is attractive both inside and outside. Upon entering we were quite hopeful that the food would match the decor. I started with egg drop soup and it was good but not as flavorful as others I have had. That would become a theme for our meal. The kid had steamed juicy dumplings and liked them, but she said that they were not as good as dumplings at Jeng Chi in Richardson. I tried a couple and agreed that they are not as good. They were fine, just not as good as others. The wife had beef noodle soup with broccoli and on the positive side the beef (brisket) was incredibly tender. However, the noodles were way over cooked and the broth lacked something. It did not have a deep, developed flavor. I had garlic chicken and on the positive side, the chicken was tender and the many types of veggies were cooked well. However, the dish was bland. It really had very little flavor, and I said to the wife that if I did not know it was garlic chicken, I would never have guessed. It was just bland. The service was friendly but our server disappeared for long periods of tine. The dumplings and soups came out fast, but my dish took forever. I actually thought that our server went on break or went home for the day. it was a really long wait. We probably would not return to this restaurant again. read more

This restaurant is the BEST chinese restaurant I have experienced in a long time. The dishes are cooked to order with a gourmet taste and appeal. When it comes out, it's so attractive on the plate you almost don't want to touch it. It's pricey but worth every penny and the serving sizes are HUGE. The service is friendly. I was looking forward to Dragon House, but it was average at best. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer and the hand-pulled noodles with veggies. The tofu actually came out after the noodles, and the sweet chili sauce it was served with was rather thick. I think a different sauce, or having the tofu coated in the sauce, would have been much better. The noodles had good flavor overall, but there were barely any vegetables, and the noodles seemed a little chewy. I would have preferred lo mein noodles instead. The price was also pretty steep for the noodle dish. I've had better tofu and noodles elsewhere. I had to ask for chili oil, and our server only checked on us once. It was an early Thursday evening and the restaurant wasn't busy. I think this place is probably more popular for its soup dumplings and dim sum. After a couple years I decided to this place again, twice this month. The lunch hour is INSANE. Waiters and waitresses tossing plates onto the table after a rush info of what the plate is. (This caused some confusion). They were so busy they forgot my crab ragoon, sob. We tried again after the big freeze for lunch. Nearly empty. Perfect. Much slower, caring service. The lunch special for 15 is plenty of food! You get your choice of rice or noodles and a choice of protein. It comes with a soup, egg roll, and edamame. I highly recommend steaming for all your dumpling choices. And be careful they are served H O T. They do cool quickly on the outside but the meat will get ya! We were in the grapevine area and craving Asian food. I'll preface this by saying I always go to Richardson/plano/Frisco but this was an opportunity to explore a new area and measure it against the same bar. Firstly, there were mostly caucasians in the restaurant (nothing wrong with that, just that it's an indicator of the clientele and potentially authenticity). The service was awesome and one of the main chefs was having a lot of fun with his hats where the ears pop up when you squeeze the long ends which the kids seemed to love. The food- I really wanted Peking duck and this was not up to par. The duck was a bit dry and the skin was more like roasted duck, not the crispy skin with the fat trimmed off that you eat with the pancake. The scallion pancake was delicious and the noodles were a generous portion. The soup dumplings were good but only 6 for the price point was a bit disappointing. Definitely more of a PF Chang style menu for the local crowd which is smart. I enjoyed the meal but will likely return to some of my more usual haunts. read more

The real star for me was the stir-fried hand-pulled noodles. The texture was chef's kiss!Perfectly chewy, not soggy, and packed with flavor. The kind of noodles you keep thinking about after the meal is over! We also ordered the truffle xiao long bao, chili wontons, Wagyu dumplings, and cucumbers, and honestly, there wasn't a weak dish in the lineup. I recently visited Dragon House for their famous soup dumplings, and overall it was a great experience. The dumplings themselves absolutely lived up to the hype--perfectly delicate with a flavorful broth inside. We also ordered the dim sum combination, additional dim sum, and lo mein, and everything came out fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The variety in the dim sum was impressive, and the lo mein had a great texture and seasoning that tied the meal together nicely. You can tell there's real skill in the kitchen when it comes to the food. My only complaint was noticing the staff making the fresh dumplings eating personal food while working. It took away a bit from the overall experience and professionalism you'd expect, especially in an open kitchen setting. This was my first visit to Dragon House, and the food did not disappoint. I will admit, my heart was set on Nikko, but the vote was for Dragon House, and that is where lunch was to be had. We were quickly seated and greeted by our waitress, and our waitress was prompt with getting us started with our order. Their menu is abundant, and you don't know where to begin. I say that with excitement, there's so much, and it all looked so good as it was being served to the folks at the other tables. Alright, I heard a lot about their juicy dumplings, and that is what I went with, and what a great choice I made. Cucumber salad: This was okay, it isn't like what is offered in some other places, but it was a nice snack after packing it to go. I will not get it again. Shrimp & Pork Juicy Dumplings: These were so good, the broth and seasoning were perfection. The pork and shrimp, you could actually taste, and they had small bites of shrimp. Delicious! I will say, what took away from this dish, the dumpling was a bit chewy at the tip. Black Truffle Juicy Dumplings: These were okay, but I will not get them again. I came to try the dim sum at Dragon House. I got the hot and sour soup and the cream cheese raccoon appetizer. The hot and sour soup was amazing. Perfect bite perfect flavor. Lots of tofu and mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The cream cheese raccoon was OK. I also got the dumpling sampler. With two seafood dumplings, two chicken, two pork and two vegetable those were magnificent. Beautifully done and very tasty. For dessert I was gonna try the red velvet crêpe, but apparently they don't have that anymore, but they did have the ube crêpe, so tasty... Not super sweet just creamy and delicious perfect ending. I talked to the amazing wait staff and she left me a picture of tea. And that was perfect... I went there later in the afternoon so it was pretty empty but that allowed me to really appreciate how beautiful the dining room is. This has always been our go-to spot for great Chinese food, consistent, flavorful, and always welcoming. It's also not far from our home. However, during our most recent visit, my orange chicken missed the mark. It tasted a bit burned and overly crispy, with very little chicken inside. After just a couple of bites, I decided to skip the rest. That said, this place has been a longtime favorite, and one off meal won't stop me from going back. I'll just be ordering something different next time! One of the best (and most fun) parts of dining here is watching the hand-pulled noodles being made. There's a friendly gentleman behind the glass who tosses the dough through the air, sometimes even across the restaurant, and never misses! It's always a highlight. Was told the wait was gonna be 45 mins. We opted to order take out and it was going to be 25 mins (still excessive in my opinion but apparently this is a good restaurant). Multiple tables were sat that came after us which defeated the purpose of not waiting and getting takeout instead. 40 mins or so passed and the food is still not ready. We asked the hostess what is going on and she said they were packing the food which clearly she lied about bc this was 15 mins later and it doesnt take 15 mins to pack food. I went to Dallas to visit family and was craving dim sum. I'm from Houston so the dim sum scene there is so good and I wanted to find a good place in Dallas that can compare. I'm happy to say that this place was very very good! The dim sum was very fresh and felt healthy & not greasy. The location was clean and quaint. The service was impeccable!!! I would come back here even just for the service alone. We came right at opening so we got sat right away (party of 8). Other than the server being super attentive (I believe her name was Jean), we had a 3 year old who fell from the chair (not the restaurant's fault, it was pure accident), but all of the staff were extremely helpful once the accident happened. We asked for a bag of ice and explained what happened and Jean came and grabbed ice right away for us, the hostess came and comforted our baby and checked up on us, the chef even came by and cut up oranges for the baby, they also gave him toys and a bunch of fortune cookies to distract him from crying. The staff came to check on us and him multiple times to make sure everything was okay and they really didn't have to. It was not their fault at all but they were so patient and attentive.
