Starting off, my favorite food is wonton soup and I've been looking a lot since moving to Texas but I'm happy to say my search has ended here. Delicious food and the restaurant itself has the classic dimly lit relaxing environment. The staff were also very friendly and I just had such a great time. Got food to go. It was ready quickly and tasted great! I've had a hard time finding good egg fu young and this was very good.

The vegetables were frozen and had NO taste what so ever. The other food wasnt great either. No one wants frozen veggies.

First time visiting the resultant. Menu reported they've been serving the area since 1986. Great food and awesome service! Came often to ask if there was anything we needed and refilled drinks many times. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. We have been coming here for over 10 years. We moved and don't come as often. Since I was in the area came again foe dinner. Wow!! Ordered take-out for lunch and the estimate for when the food would be ready was accurate. Food was still hot and fresh when I returned home. I ordered the Garlic Chicken, Cream Cheese Crab Puffs, and Egg-Drop Soup. Everything was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the Egg-Drop Soup, Free Wontons, and Crab Puffs. I was very hopeful trying this place and it's conveniently near my home. I ordered the chicken and broccoli and it was some of the blandest chicken I've ever tasted. There was no browning of the chicken, it was as pale as could be. And the sauce was also flavorless. Wasn't a fan of the fried rice either. I gave it two stars as the egg drop soup and egg role was appetizing. May be brave and try it again but definitely avoiding the chicken and broccoli dish. read more

Pearl Chinese Restaurant in Grapevine, TX... what happened? I have been eating here off and on since the mid 90's. Food was always reasonably priced and pretty darn good. Stopped in for lunch last week and ordered cashew chicken and chose wonton soup as my soup option. As you can see by the picture, I was unpleasantly surprised when my bowl of soup was brought out. Broth and one wonton. No chives, mushrooms, etc. Nothing else! VERY disappointing. The cashew chicken dish was great, but the damage had been done by the soup. The food is really good and every time we come, it is served hot. The egg drop soup does not have all the extra veggies in it, a few pieces of corn, so it is true "egg drop" soup. They served crispy noodles when they brought the soup, and the egg roll came with a warm sweet and sour sauce. The sauce has a great blend of flavors, not too sweet, and not to sour, we also love that they serve it warm. The server is always pleasant and helpful. They even have the sports channel on, so at least we can catch a score. No mater what time we come, they have alway given us their best. read more

My wife and I enjoy the years we've been ordering our favorites. Always prepared just the way we like it.

The foods good for the money. I liked it. We ordered crab Rangoon, which was cheesy and crispy, but good. We had the Tonkatsu ramen, very generous portion, not quite sure how someone would Finnish it by themselves. Also ordered the Orange beef and Bean Curd family. Both were delicious as well. Many argue when it comes to cuisine that the original of whatever dish is in contest is always, by virtue of being the very first, cannot be outdone. Though this may hold true on most accounts, food tends to have an odd tendency of bettering itself when it traverses through different cultures. The kebab, for example, didn't become such a palatable and marketable idea until it came across the hands of Turkish immigrants in Hamburg, Germany and became doner kebab; another example of this is Chutney, the delectable sour-sweet fruit pickle condiment birthed by the Indians and perfected by the hands of Indian immigrants residing in the borders of Chutney, Britain. So why the semi-useless tangent, you ask? I found this place listed on Iroha (a local Japanese "kuchikomi" paper that covers the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area) which is usually a credible source of recommendations when it comes to authentic Japanese dining in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since I'd been craving ramen for months and since we decided to dedicate the entirety of our two day trip in Dallas to finding decent Asian food, we decided to drive about 25 minutes north from downtown Dallas solely to try ramen which was supposedly gaining "mass approval from the local Japanese workers who worked in the area." When we arrived at Pearl (which on Iroha is NOT listed as a "Chinese Restaurant") we did see an extensive ramen menu as advertised, but we were quickly disappointed to find out that the noodles served here were of the "lamian" variety and not that of "ramen"; instead of the chewy al dente noodles innundated in rich decadent Japanese tonkotsu, we were served skinny pulled noodles swimming in foggy sesame oil infused soup that tasted like it came straight out of a "demae iccho/chu qian yi ding" packet. We also ordered the shoyu ramen with chashu and some other ramen with cabbage, both of which were uninspired and were of imitatable quality. As for the "chinese" food here, we ordered crab rangoons and the jiao zi (dumplings) as appetizers -- this place reaffirms my firm belief that the crab rangoons should only be cooked by the vietnamese, and their jiao zi tasted like they were taken straight out of a frozen package from costco. I guess it's unfair to judge a restaurant solely based on something that it's not expected to be good at, so I'll probably come back here and give it another try next time I'm in Dallas -- but believe you me, I'll be staying away from the ramen here unless I see a sticker on the door reading "under new management" next time I enter the restaurant. Oh and Iroha, this review is almost entirely your fault. Shame on you. read more

This is truly a hole in the wall... At a corner of a not so busy and older shopping strip... But the food is fresh and very delicious!! We went with a group of friends that all have kids and we were sat in the semi private room with a large round table, service was very friendly and they were very attentive on water refilling and we also ordered hot tea. We ordered veggie soup, dumplings for the kiddos and they even had fries... And for adults we got lo mein and Xiao lon bao (soup dumplings) and tried their chicken lettuce wrap all were very fresh and inexpensive bc it's mom and pops style and I think one other dish we really liked was tofu family dish it had lots of veggies and the flavor was very good as well... Over all it's a 4 stars food and service minus 1 star for being an older restaurant their decor could use some updating but it's clean so it's not an issue at all... We'll definitely continue to come here when we have gathering with friends near by read more

Pure Japanese delicious food that can be made extra spicy if you'd like it that way. There's plenty of rice, not too much msg and a good amount of sauce. The setting is quiet and the staff is quick. Very disappointing. Fried rice had no onions or bean sprouts. Just tossed with soy sauce peas and carrots. My wonton soup smelled and tasted like tripe soup, disgusting! I had to order egg drop and it still smelled a little like tripe. read more

We have been looking for good Chinese food for a while and decided to try Pearl out. It didn't look like much from the outside and there were only two other customers eatting at the time. The waiter was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I have the pork fried rice and it was very good. It was probably the best I have found so far in the DFW area. My wife had the chicken with broccoli and she loved it. The broccoli was very fresh and the chicken was tasty. The prices were very reasonable. While we were eatting, around 5:30 pm the restaurant started to fill up and the counter was full of take out orders. I would recommend this restaurant and we will probably return even though it is not very close to our home. read more

Super Fresh. We always get the steamed chicken and vegetables with sauce on the side. The white sauce is garlicky and flavorful. I have to say vegetables at this place are better than anywhere else. They are bright and fresh Every. Single. Time. No inconsistency at all, and we've been coming here for years. When it comes to take out, I am an Americanized-Chinese food snob. I do not take this subject lightly. I've been coming to Pearl since I was a child and it never fails to please. Even as I write this review, my mouth is salivating thinking about the tastes and flavors of basically everything on their menu. It's really nothing special. A strip mall Chinese restaurant with your typical Chinese fair. It's a full service restaurant with wait staff, so don't expect a buffet. They also deliver (though not very far), and you can always call for pick up. Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef and Broccoli and Lo Mein are all favorites of mine. Staff is very friendly, and they always recognize the regulars. Stop searching for a good Chinese restaurant by your house. This is the one to come to, it's simply the best. read more

We previously loved Pearl for their delivery - I would always get their lo mein and be the happiest person to eat lo mein in their bed in the whole wide world. We finally got out of bed and actually went to the restaurant and loved it even more. I got the eggplant in garlic sauce and the hubs got the orange beef. We both got rice with our meal, and I was initially bummed at the small serving size. My woes were remedied, when after eating as much of the ridiculously large sized portion (I think at least two full sized eggplants met their demise for my lunch) as possible, the waiter popped by and offered more rice. When I asked for a to go box instead, he offered to throw some rice in the to go box. Awesome! It was all but empty on a Saturday around 2:30, so we got really fast service and awesomely delicious food. And I'm not ashamed to tell you I ate my leftovers for breakfast this morning and subsequently had an amazing, eggplant fueled day. Bonus points for the most ridiculous Chinese movie ever playing in the background. There were fake beards and lightning involved. It was magical. read more
