The head work was solid with all new valves and passed a leak down test before installation. The block machine work was superb as the hone was done to tolerance on the piston and ring kit I purchased. Rich tanked and blasted the block for a slight extra charge but worth the money. When that dealer didn't fix it I had it towed to a second Chevy dealer. When it looked like the second dealer wouldn't be able to make the repair, I called Precision Auto Service in Sacramento. I spoke with Rick. After days of dealing with the problem, I had gained some knowledge concerning TCMs (essentially a computer that helps the vehicle's transmission be as efficient as possible). From speaking with Rick, I could tell he knew his stuff. I explained the problem and asked if Precision Auto would be able to fix it, in the event the second dealer could not. Rick assured me they could make the repair. Next, Rick asked me about my warranty with Chevy. My truck is six years old and has 63K miles - well over the warranty - or so I thought. Rick educated me as to the Federal Emissions Warrant that goes beyond the GM warranty. I looked into it as neither dealer had mentioned it. Chevy was able to make the repair and was ready to bill me over $900. Because of Rick's technical expertise and his mentioning of the Federal Emissions Warranty, I knew the dealer wasn't being 'up front' regarding coverage under warranty. In the end, I didn't pay a dime! Next time my truck has any need at all I will have Precision Auto Service do the work. Before I could write a Yelp review on this business, I wanted to personally visit Precision Auto Repair; I had dealt with them over the phone only up to this point. I met Rick and his partner Scott. Both very personable and knowledgeable. I viewed the business and the repair bays. Precision Auto Service is clean, well run, and professional automotive repair shop.

So I had called to make sure they could tackle this problem and was told "it should be no problem at all!" Except there actually was a problem! It wasn't until after I dropped off my car and waited about a week that I found that they were able to acquire the part...but they couldn't program it.... I was then told they needed to find an outside party to program the module! After giving them a few more days and not receiving any updates, I had to reach out again only to find that they still had not found anyone to program it. Going on two weeks without a car might not seem all too long but as I was initially told, the job would be "no problem". I will say I appreciate not being charged the diagnostic fee, but I don't appreciate them not being completely up-front about everything from the beginning. Had I been told "hey, we can easily get you the part BUT it will take a little bit longer since we will need to reach out to another vendor for them to flash and program the computer module", then I wouldn't be upset. I just didn't appreciate being led to believe it would be a simple and easy task they could tackle right away. I also don't like the lack of communication or follow-ups along the way. I literally had to reach out and bother them every time to find out if everything was going okay. But essentially my car sat in their shop virtually untouched for about two weeks. And within that period of time, I could have had my car sent elsewhere and the problem resolved by now. I'm sure this business does other fine work when it comes to car maintenance. I just wouldn't recommend going here for any electrical issues with your vehicle's computer systems, even if you're told it'll be "no problem".

I brought in my 57-year-old Ford 4100 4-barrel because the idle couldn't be made to work properly, and after the car was warmed up, the engine would die at stop signals in spite of my best efforts to adjust it. Also a former owner had been into the carburetor and although the float levels were right on the money, the large air horn gasket had been installed upside down. It took a week for the repair and the price was exactly what had been quoted. Even before I got the carburetor back on the car, I was impressed at how much the appearance had been improved; every external surface had been buffed including all the little brass surfaces like the screws on the throttle plates. Even before I had given the carburetor the final adjustments on the car--the pair of idle mixture screws and the choke thermostat--it started and ran better than I can remember. I think the performance had deteriorated so slowly over time that, until it started dying at stop signals, I had just ignored it. Now it starts, idles and runs as good as new. Thank you, Peter!

Car problems always cause me anxiety, especially as a single parent. These guys were amazing. Not only did they fix the problem, they fixed several other problems that popped up as well (legitimate problems that I knew were going to be a hassle down the road eventually or were already making life challenging). They were kind, polite, and very fair. On top of that, they even offered me a loaner car so that my son and I didn't have sit in their shop for hours waiting for the service to be completed. This is now my go-to shop, and as much as I hope I don't need to return, I definitely will if something else pops up.
