It appears that the carburetor part of the business has split off from the other auto repair business on the same site. Peter is the main guy and is very friendly and helpful. I brought in my 57-year-old Ford 4100 4-barrel because the idle couldn't be made to work properly, and after the car was warmed up, the engine would die at stop signals in spite of my best efforts to adjust it. Also a former owner had been into the carburetor and although the float levels were right on the money, the large air horn gasket had been installed upside down. It took a week for the repair and the price was exactly what had been quoted. Even before I got the carburetor back on the car, I was impressed at how much the appearance had been improved; every external surface had been buffed including all the little brass surfaces like the screws on the throttle plates. Even before I had given the carburetor the final adjustments on the car--the pair of idle mixture screws and the choke thermostat--it started and ran better than I can remember. I think the performance had deteriorated so slowly over time that, until it started dying at stop signals, I had just ignored it. Now it starts, idles and runs as good as new. Time for the smog check on my car. Obviously, this is something that I will always try to save a buck on, so I turned to the trusty ole Pennysaver, where I found a coupon for United. $30? Perfect! I didn't call ahead, I just kind of mozied in on a Thursday afternoon in the middle of lunch. I was promptly greeted and signed in by Bryan, who was extremely pleasant, and sat down and waited for the technicians to return from their lunch. At exactly 1pm the guys returned from lunch, and they immediately took my car back and smogged it. I'm not really sure what else to say about my experience. It was pleasant, efficient, cost effective, clean waiting area, 75 cents for a soda, and excellent customer service. What more does a girl need? I will definitely return for future smogs! read more

This business is ran by Hon. He worked on my Avalon that only needed knock sensors. Quoted me a price of $350 and to make a long story short, after 3 weeks & having to bring the car back because the check engine light came back on. He ended up fixing, but in the process cracked my radiator and claimed it wasn't his fault. However, u are only supposed to replace the part...took my car to his house away from the business without my knowledge. Doesn't write u out a receipt either. If you try and smog one all the shops will give you some BS about how their machine is down, the guy who smog's them is on vacation, etc. etc. The fact is they don't want to bother with them but they wont tell you that or who to go to for help. They performed alignment on the car but not very customer friendly. They take there time in getting you out even after the car is done. Waited for 10 minutes for someone to give me keys after car was completed and the place was not busy. More of no care attitude. They say what you need instead of "can i help you"? read more

There are very few shops left that will do this kind of work so I am eternally grateful that they have the expertise. I took my 87 Nissan pickup there for smog diagnostic because my truck didn't pass smog..(hi Nox)..I had called a few other shops and they wouldn't do a diagnostic check because they said they didn't work on older trucks. These guys were real nice and worked with me. After an hour after I dropped it off they called me and said I needed a cat. converter which I figured. I already had a major tune up on it, new plugs, wires, all the smog hoses, ect. So I went to pick up my truck, I had them do the retest which they threw in and my Nox number NOW was "1" @ 15mph, couldn't believe it!! They gave me a great price on the cat. too. When I got there I had to ask if they are a "test only" smog shop and they told me they do 'test only' AND reg smog testing..WOW. I have another newer truck and United Auto Care is the shop I go to from now on. They do tune-ups and all kinds of other work. They even had ordered pizza and let me have a couple slices!! read more

It's a odd thing to be told a shop can't work on your cars carburetor. Apparently it's a dying field of auto mechanic shops. This of course does not apply to the good people at United Auto Care Center. My 1981 Toyota Celica Sunchaser has never driven so good. I have no idea why everyone is so excited about this place as I read the reviews. They have been trying to re build a simple carb. on a Dodge from 1978 and it has been a real joke. They even took 4 days on the second attempt and "dialed it in," We are talking 3 months and 2 attempts. Our time and money completely wasted and the van stalls. It runs like shit. The world has gone to fools. We should all learn to do it ourselves and then we would be free of these people. Hell must be full of mechanics, lawyers, priests and politicians. I purchased one of their crappy carburetors from Autozone, and was completely dissatisfied with the level of so called craftsmanship and attention to detail one would expect from a company that supposed to be rebuilding a precision piece of equipment. The idle air adjustment screw looked like it had been chewed on by a pit bull, the choke linkage was not correct and ended up breaking at the 90 degree bend, the crappy spring clips they used to hold it on with were junk, and it leaked from the bowl gasket. Which leads to the last point if all of the obvious things that can seen with a few seconds of visual inspection, what is going on with the quality control, and what other surprises are waiting internally on this "professional rebuild". This work was done at an American company,take some pride in what that means! read more

This is the cheapest place in Sacramento to get a car alignment. You can't beat the $35 price. But be forewarned they have poor customer service and manners. Be prepared to be ignored and treated poorly. I think its a cultural thing. Even though the service is poor the quality of work is great. I keep going back because of price. read more

It was a no brainer to return to United Auto Care Center this time. Some of the faces have changed but the exceptional customer service and overall quality of service remains the same,"outstanding". I had carburetors rebuilt on both occasions, but I would recommend this shop for smog and repair based on the high quality of service I received. "The New Guy", in the office is polite and friendly. Pete is very knowledgable about all makes and models of vehicles. I did not have much contact with the others but I could see that they were happily and diligently going about their business which means work was being done right and efficiently. I called a bunch of shops to get my carb adjusted and nobody wanted to touch thing. Finally someone recommended United Carburetor. I called them they gave me an estimate over the phone. I drove down dropped it off. They called me back the same day and said my Carb needed a rebuild and told me the price. The price was more than fair considering most shops wouldn't even work on it. Horrible place I will say that the front counter guy Brian seem like a nice dude but the owner is not very knowledgeable on pre smog vehicle's ie. 60 -72 with modified carbs ie elderbrock ; holly very disappointed with his service knowledge .I agree with the one review that says why are people so in love with this place the owner is a morron told me that a 70 chevelle with aluminum heads on a goodwrench motor is no value I have him know that that same vehicle appraised and insured @$32,000. I felt that was insulting since it was once my father's vehicle but I figured he said that only because I didn't wanna leave my vehicle I was reluctant from a bad shop experience on my 71 elco but that was my wake up call to get more experience on my own carburetor and adjust myself Thanks United for the motorvation you guy suck but are awesome at the same time (r.i.p 2 my pops who was a do it yourself guy) read more

This place is great, by far the cheapest smog in town. They did my 2002 Honda van for $30 flat with the pennysaver coupon. The staff was friendly and they were very fast in and out in 20 minutes. They even have awesome music in the lobby to boot. Highly recommended. read more

Took 1988 Ford Ranger to have smog. Passed smog and after smog check asked how much they would charge to do the valve cover gasket which was already done once serveral months previously but thought the job was not done right as it was still leaking. So UNITED AUTO CARE sound reasonable and the truck was left with them to fix on 1/21/12 at $120.00. Got it back on Monday 1/23/12. Drove it to work came home and it was leaking. Called them a few days later and they said to bring it back in. Left it there on Saturday 1/28/12 around noon and they said that they would call and let me know what they found, but at about 3:30 I did not hear from them so i called and they would not answer phone. Closed Sunday, called on Monday and they said it needed the head gasket replaced at a cost of about $500.00. On Wednesday 2/1/12 took the truck to another mechanic who cleaned the oil around the heads and said it definitely was not the head cover gasket, that it was fine. He was closing shop and needed me to bring the truck back to him the next day to further investigate exactly where the problem was comming from. Not even sure they did the job at all. United Auto Care Center is not trust worthy. Who ever the mechanic was did not take the time to investigate really where the problem was comming from to begin with, but said, they did what I said, it might be in the first place. Maybe they better stick with carburators and smog. read more
