This was my second visit. Obviously I liked it well enough to return, but this visit was disappointing and off-putting. First off, the hostess is so abrasive and hard and cold. If I had not been waiting for friends to join me, I would have left then. Secondly, the food was lackluster and took a long time to arrive. My friend had a brisket dish that was tough and chewy. My cassoulet was pretty unmemorable. I concede, it is a hip spot in a cute part of town. But between the hostess and the mediocrity of the food, I will not be going there again, and I have already warned friends to stay away. read more

WOW. wonderful flavors! We shared the buckwheat polenta, one with a squash topping and another with a walnut basil pesto. YUM. then followed by grape leaf wrapped local halibut. Off the charts flavor. Poached perfectly. Service was great, patient explaining different dishes. And the prosecco with bitters and orange a great counterpoint to everything. Found this restaurant on a whim one morning looking for brunch. The staff was so friendly and the food is excellent. We have been back 3 or 4 times since traveling up from San Francisco. Amazing. Dishes we have loved: waffle, seafood stew, lamb burger, razor clams, frittata, chicken falafel, and more. We now come here monthly. Very covid friendly as well which we love! read more

My favorite restaurant in Petaluma. I've never ordered anything here that I didn't like. My favorite dish right now is the person meatballs and I have to stop myself from ordering it every time I go (because there are so many other yummy dishes to try.) It has so many different flavors that are just perfectly balanced with each other. The drinks are great too and use unique ingredients. The sangria or mulled wine is my go to (seasonal so when it's cold they have mulled wine) but I've also tried other drinks such as the bonal and tonic, which was new to me and very delicious. The owner and servers are just as amazing as the food. I love pearl!! read more

At the corner of 1st street and G street in Petaluma is this gem of a restaurant! I saw it written up in the local Petaluma Visitor magazine and decided to check it out. It turned out to be the perfect choice! The dishes we chose were the Shakshuka and the Tagine lamb. Both these were obviously created by a masterful chef who knows his art very well! The layers of flavors and the play of spices were so beautifully arranged. It was a party for the senses. We had the dessert - doughnuts and Turkish coffee. The dessert was really good and not very sweet. The Turkish coffee was SO good - I'd call it 'perfection in a cup!' I need to come back here to visit just to check out another amazing meal at this restaurant. The server Kandace was so attentive and knowledgeable- we wanted to tip her but found out that that wasn't possible! I wish the locals would support this place. Such master chefs and restaurants need to be supported through the trying times that we are working through right now. I would recommend this place to everyone. We had a really great experience! Wow. This place is amazing. We had a group of six and we ordered several different things - all delicious. I had the lamb and beef meatballs with a sunny side egg and rice nicely spiced. The food here is fantastic! I had the Lamburger with small salad. By far the best Lamburger I've had. The salad was just as good. I also had rice pudding for dessert. Overall amazing. It was very unique and different from all the other crappy food I eat. Another positive is that they dont accept tips. I assume this means that the employees make more because of this. My only complaint would be that the portions are a bit small, BUT looking at the bigger picture, they serve healthy food and you arent supposed to be overly stuffed like normal restaurants. I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the French omelette; it came with a nice salad with a quite refreshing dressing. The omelette was a bit lackluster; the eggs were not fluffy and the flavor was not remarkable. The service was quite nice. Hit up this new hot spot in Ptown for brunch yesterday. I had the brisket with baba ganoush and tahini and my hubby had the meatballs. It was so scrumptious and flavorful that we were both impressed. Wow. We stumbled across this place thanks to Yelp. Absolutely stunned. So many great options on the menu that I struggled to decide. Selected the beef brisket with soft scrambled eggs and a "cold fashioned" coffee drink. Everything was excellent. Bright flavors. Fresh ingredients. Perfectly cooked eggs (like Michelin star perfect). Charming, friendly service. I'm blown away. Definitely worth driving to Petaluma just for this brunch. Not my cup of tea. We used to come a lot to this place when they were Luma and we loved the food. We came on a dinner night under the understanding it was a Spanish menu, and we know Spanish food. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment, none of the plates that we expected to find were there and none of the food looked attractive. Pearl has a tasty (seasonally changing?) menu with delicious, deeply flavorful offerings that are different from many of the restaurants around the downtown Petaluma area. Their restaurant patio is pet friendly (we've only seen dogs on our two visits) and pleasant. Pearl refuses to accept tips - it seems that the price of each menu item is calculated with a living wage for their employees. We'll be back the next time we're in the area. read more

I forgot how wonderful this place is! We came pretty regularly a while back and then life got in the way. We always share a small plate or dessert and get a dish. Today we shared the fresh baked donuts filled with apple butter and topped with tahini caramel sesame seeds and sugar. Perfect not super sweet treat. We had lunch today at Pearl and were so blown away by the flavor profiles of the dishes! The trout sandwich was a delight of surf (and turf- it had some bacon in it) and the Turkish flatbread with lamb was surprisingly light! And you know how lots of places serve a "side salad" that seems like an after-thought? Not at Pearl! - the trout came with a delicious carrot & greens that was bright and the Turkish flatbread came with a beet & greens that was sweet and perfectly matched with th dish. You can tell that a lot of thought and care goes into the dish and preparation. And make sure to have dessert- the fig & almond cake was stupendous! And the service was impeccable too! read more

Pearl is a fantastic Mediterranean oasis in a cool industrial part of town. Pearl is thoughtful, eclectic and delicious. I had the Israeli breakfast: a pita sprinkled with a Za'atar herb blend and grilled over wood. It was served with green hummus, labneh (a strained yogurt) and a sweet loquat jam. Yummy! Wonderful new restaurant in the old Luma space. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. Menu prices include all service; no tips. My wife and I shared 3 items and each was outstanding. We had the Israeli breakfast (labneh, za'atar pita, green hummus, fruit compote) ($12), Shakshuka with za'atar pita (chickpea, fava & tomato stew, grilled halloumi, baked eggs) ($18) and Moroccan rice pudding (Madagascar pint rice, rhubarb) ($8). Pearl is a Petaluma gem!! The foos is other-wordly both in concept and execution melding several different ethnicities. The cuisine features fresh, local ingredients with bold flavors. The fish stew is a mixture of delights from the sea in a spicy tomato broth. The Jerusalem Bagel, served with a changing variety of fish, is almost like a bagel-pretzel hybrid that is so delicious. My friend took me to lunch and neither of us had tried Pearl yet so that was the plan. It has a European flair with dishes like Spanish Frittata, Persian Fish Stew, and Moroccan Hangtown. It's an adventure just reading the menu. We split Grape Leaf Wrapped Local Halibut, Smoked Trout & House Ricotta Jar, McFarlands Spring Trout Salad, and finished with a delightfully warm Moroccan Rice Pudding with pink rice ,rhubarb and almonds. They incorporate spices you may not be familiar with like coriander and sumac which add to the feeling of adventure with each dish.
