Reviewing this place is a moot point but I experienced some very unprofessional service a few months ago. I came to get a bike tune-up and cable changed on my shifter. They told me it would be ready next day. I come by the next day, and they haven't even started on it. No problem I can wait. So, I call the next day, and they still don't have my bike ready. I ask what is taking so long and they said if I am in such a rush I should just buy a new bike and stop complaining. Some people don't have people skills, I get that. This place was just downright rude. A week later I got my bike back, but I never went back. If you are a small business competing with big chains like Jenson, you had better set yourself apart with good customer service and pricing. Otherwise, the big chains will eat you alive. I try to shop small businesses but when they act like this, it's hard to have sympathy for them when big chains put them out of business. I also witnessed them being condescending to people who are new to the MTB world. Those are potential new customers, and you should absolutely cater to them if you want to stay in business. The fact that Pedals has closed isn't surprising. A combo of Jenson's offering better pricing, their bad customer service, higher interest rates, MTB brands downsizing and a looming economic slowdown sealed Pedals' deserved fate. read more

They are closing for good. There are signs in the windows saying Everything 50% Off. They have had their struggles staying in business though they are nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I guess the homeless people camping on their doorstep has scared away customers. read more

Came in to get a brake line replaced on my daughter's bike and they tackled it right away, efficiently and for a fair price. We were on our way just a few minutes after coming in. Just a strange place with no regard of COVID protocol. There idea of customer service is skewed. Especially with RC car stuff. I've never been to a shop that charges to look at your car for something as small as resetting your controller and speed. And then asking to leave it for a week. So I did.... ‍ and called back (a week later) and they still hadn't looked at it. I asked to have it back and would be on my way to get it. When I got there, they quickly took it apart and said I need a new speed unit and charged me 45.00 for the service, not including the part. "No thanks"! Paid the 45.00 to get my car back and ran out! ‍Go to Hobby Town or Extreme RC. They will test and/our reset your stuff on the spot for free. I purchased a phone holder for my bike. Took it home and began to assemble it. While there were instructions they weren't the best and I thought I'd read them carefully, only to find that it wasn't working the way I thought it should, so I took it back to the shop. I was certain I was putting things together properly and had just gotten a defective holder. The young man who helped me was there and defined patience, working with me in my frustration to get it assembled and ready to use. Sometimes we need to eat humble pie and admit our mistakes, and I quickly apologized and thanked him for his help. However, one of the other employees wasn't as patient with me and my frustration and essentially threw up his hands and said I could have my money back. But the guy who helped me allowed me to work through things with him and I left a happy customer. Lesson learned on both sides -- be open to learning new things and patience pays off in the long run. Stopped in on my way to the gym and was immediately greeted asked if needed help. I needed some dry chain lubricant but found out that I didn't really need what I thought I needed. Jason was super friendly and helped me find the perfect purple chain for my project. Great place with large selection of bikes and parts and everyone was friendly. It's nice when someone in a business takes the time to explain to you that you don't really need something instead of just taking your money and sending you on your way. I really enjoyed my shopping experience at Pedals! The staff is so wonderful, they greet you immediately and are interested in helping you find what you need. I feel that they are really knowledgeable in their craft so I was comfortable asking them questions that helped me better choose something I would really love. This bike shop is amazing! My story: I'm not exactly what you'd call a coordinated rider. Seriously folks, there's a 50/50 chance I'll end up horizontal instead of vertical when I'm riding a bike. Recently, my husband purchase a Kona Remote+Ctrl from Pedals, and he really, really wanted me to try out an e-bike. My regular bike was an older Marin purchased quite some time ago from a major retail chain (who has since gone out of business). Anyway, we went back to Pedals, where the owner, Jason, patiently helped me try out many models to find the perfect fit (even allowing me to try out his own personal bike). I was torn between two models, a smaller version of my husband's bike, or a bike made by Liv. Jason encouraged me to keep riding and switching between the two models, so that I could choose the bike that fit me the most. I ultimately went with the Liv Amiti E+2. Keep in mind, there's a significant price difference between the two bikes, yet Jason never pressured me and his only goal was me feeling confident in the bike I chose. You can tell Jason has a true love and passion for riding, and it's contagious! I'm so happy with my new bike. It gives me so much confidence to tackle those challenging stretches of road. I'm so appreciative that we have a local bike shop run by someone who is truly dedicated to bikes. Jason's staff is also amazing, very dedicated bike people! We've already gone back for miscellaneous accessories (KEVLAR bike lock, hello, genius!). We know we'll be back when it's time to purchase bikes for our daughter (she's working on getting out of her training wheels) and son (I suspect there's en ebike upgrade in his future). My wife and I visited this shop shortly after her bike was stolen. Initially, Ethan helped us pick out helmets as well as a replacement bike for her. Ethan helped us size our bikes and took the time to show us how to properly install the bike rack on our car. We later, came back when we realized that the bike I bought from my buddy was the wrong size and the guys at Pedals clearly explained the different ways in which they could help. Jason and the rest of his guys are fantastic at explaining things in a way that a complete beginner like me, can understand. We took my husband's custom made wheelchair in here for a tire repair. While they weren't able to fix the tire, they called another bike shop in Riverside who could. Had the other shop hold the tire for us to get repaired. I am grateful to Pedals for researching and helping us get my husbands wheelchair back up and running. I will be going back to Pedals for any of our bike and wheelchair tire needs. PS the dog in Pedals is worth a trip in their store. So so cute! Thank you Pedals for being so kind. read more

I brought my e-bike in after calling on the phone and speaking to Nick he told me it would be $120 reasonable so I came in and he proceeded to tell me after I've rushed here before closing that they charge $150 just to look at the bike...I was really confused how it came from $120 on the phone to now $270...seems like a scam to me. Took my e-bike here for a flat tire repair and they wanted to keep my bike for just under a month and tried to charge me $238.00!!! This is such a rip-off. Aaron was awesome. We went in for a tune up at the UCR location. We dropped off our bikes at 10 am and both of then were done the same day before closing! He took great care to look at the details and fixed them. Specifically, he cleaned the bikes, tightened my brakes, fixed the tension on my chain/gears, adjusted my seat so it wouldnt squeak, and also sanded my friend's brakes down so they wouldnt squeak. I went in to return a water bottle attachment to a bike because it turned out that the bike I was gifted already had one. The people there said they can only give me store credit, even though it was purchased a week before, I had the receipt, and it was unopened in the box. I've never heard of such a horrible return policy, but they said the owner had this rule. Shocking for a customer who spent over $650 for a new bike and two water bottle holders. The item I wanted to return was only $25. Other than spending the store credit, I won't be returning to provide my business. read more

Like many others during COVID-19 I have spent a LOT more time with my bikes. Pedals has always been there for me with exceptional service and quick repairs. I don't like spending much time away from my bikes and they call be as soon as my bike is ready. They make solid recommendations on parts upgrades when asked with multiple price levels.
