In a word, my experience at Pedro's was so above and beyond that I felt it was necessary to create a Yelp account and leave this review. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. What more could you ask for? Friendly conversations with the staff, an attentive waitress, and a personal check-in from the owner. Especially considering the pandemic, and that we were sat within an hour of their close, the staff and service were top notch. Let be clear here though, the service would have been nothing without the delicious food and drinks. Everything on the menu from the sauces to the barbacoa to the hand squeezed margarita ingredients took the experience to the next level. Pedro's is one of my favorite places to hit when in Maine. 2018 Christmas Prelude. You absolutely must get the salsa, chips and guac! To die for. Hibiscus margarita is another great hit! Very disappointed! We come here every year during vacation and have always enjoyed it. It was horrible! An over abundance of cumin in everything, the tacos, the beans, the rice, the pork burrito! Service was good but this is not the same Pedro's. Margaritas were glowing neon green and not drinkable. Their once delicious fresh tomato salsa is now some strange cream based non edible mess. First time eating at Pedro's. Atmosphere and decor was fun . Our waitress was great but I'm sorry to say the food left much to be desired. Appetizer of guacamole proved to be way too chunky to even get out of the bowl with chips. And it was somewhat bland- even for guacamole! My husband had a fish taco and a gringo( ground beef) taco with refried beans and rice. I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco with rice and black beans( was expecting refried with my order also). The beef taco was the best of the bunch. The piece of fish in the taco was barely visible ( not kidding) and all but the beef were dry and tasteless. My friends and I visited Pedro's for the stroll and we were so pleasantly surprised with everything. The margaritas were amazing along with the food. There was a live band who were great and the vibe was just so fun. We got to meet Amber and the owner Norm who couldn't have been any more gracious and nice. They both helped us to resolve a transportation situation and without them would have been stranded. Only in Maine do people go out of there way to help others like they did. The drinks were delicious. That is where it ended. My family and I have been to realistically hundreds of Mexican restaurant having lived in Texas. . First, I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that you have to order and pay for chips and salsa. The salsa was like cold spaghetti sauce. Absolutely no taste. I asked if it could be warmed up and was told no. My husband's burrito was good if it had queso served with it, but apparently queso is a special order. They make it up special, you have to order it special. My taco meat was good but the tortilla was hard. My son's fish taco's literally had no fish in them, just fried batter. My friends and I were having a great day and decided to grab diner together before going home. We have all been to Pedros before and decided to grab diner there. (For context were aren't very old so people don't take us seriously sometimes when we go into restaurants or stores.) So we go in and we can tell the lady working there wasn't happy we were so young. She told us a 15-minute wait and she would call when there was an available table. After about an hour I called back reluctantly she said she could get us a table in about 15 minutes. We arrive and she leads us to a tiny half table against a wall in the very back of the restaurant behind the bar. It was both uncomfortable and humiliating. She takes our drinks orders and she grabs them quite fast. Then we have to wait another 15 mins for a completely different person to take our order. The food took probably 30 minutes and was only ok. We got nachos and Barbacoa burritos. The nachos were good but they put all the guacamole and salsa on the top when they could have easily put them evenly across the nachos. They make their own corn chip and we ran into a group of chips that were still soft and not cooked. The burritos were decent and were the only someone good part of the meal. When we were finished it took them ages to take away our plates and Evan longer to get us the bill After this a couple of days later we decided to go back because we wanted to give them a second chance. This time they got us right in and we got a regular table. We ordered guacamole and chips this time because we knew better than to get the nachos. The chips were way over salted with some completely covered in salt in was horrible. We got chicken enchiladas which were quite good until we found short white beard or nose hairs in our food. We all found one and could have found more if we hadn't wanted to just leave. We got the bill and left. Overall i would not recommend it going there unless you are starving. read more

Best margarita in town, and fun ambiance and music! I once ordered a drink (trying something new) and when I didn't really like it, I asked my server/bartender if she would doctor it up and kind of make it into a margarita. She happily obliged, and made it much better without a trace of fuss. Also, the smoked bourbon flan is v yummy :) I've also had a really good burrito here. This place is a hidden gem. Exceeded my expectations (unlike Robert's Maine last night). Limited seating due to Covid. We ordered both the margarita clasica and the margarita prima....when ordering round two we both went with clasica. We tried the tacos: chicken tinga, vegan cauliflower and carne asada. First problem, we understood the covid issues. We went to Pedro's gave our number and were told we would be called. After a 30 plus minute wait I went to desk and was told " we tried to call" which was a lie. We were seated ordered and the food delivered, we had to ask for cutlery while our meals began to cool. Wish I can give zero stars. Started with a margarita that was too bitter to drink after two sips I had to give up. Then I had asked for queso and chips and ended up getting some nasty half melted cheese with some salty greasy ground beef under it. Took one bite and I couldn't continue I didn't want to get sick. I ordered for my entree the barbacoa plate which is $25 and the beans were not cooked, rice was mushy, and the meat was just disgusting. Waiter was rude when I gave him my food back and tried to charge me for a plate that I took one bite from. If you want food that's Mexican DO NOT go to this place. One of the only places we could find food with a decent waiting time in Kennebunkport during our first time here. Our server was very friendly and prompt. MY husband and I had dinner at Pedro's last night and really liked it! The decor is fun and lively and appropriately tacky (and I say that as a good thing!) There's an outdoor patio as well, but we sat inside because the weather was a bit dicey. We both had red sangria that was fruity without being overly sweet. The hand-cut chips and salsa were very good, although the amount of salsa for the chips was rather measly. We should've asked for more. I had their vegetarian burrito- with sweet potato, black beans, spinach, cheese. MMMM! my husband loved his barbacoa platter! I snuck a few bites of his meat and it was perfectly spiced with a little kick. The service was quick-even though the place was packed, which is good. Our server was attentive too. My family has been coming to Kennebunkport every summer for the past 20 something years, and for the last few years we have been eating at Pedro's. They have delicious, authentic food and the restaurant itself has great character. The building is lined with cool and fascinating Mexican antiques from floor to ceiling. I always notice something new every time I visit. The meals are not too pricy, but as I said, they are authentic. This place is for everyone but the picky eater. I traveled here on my anniversary for a little happy hour celebrations! The happy hour prices were fabulous! After having a relaxtion massage from the Cottage Day Spa we were in the mood to just grab a bite before heading home. My significant other had been suggesting trying this place for awhile and we decided today would be the day! I am very happy we did! The place is a lot bigger than what it looks like in the pictures I have seen on the internet. The insides is super festive and nicely decorated! I can't wait to come back in the summer and sit on the deck! Their $5.00 Margarita didn't taste like it was premixed (even if it was) and had a great refreshing feel to it! We tried the guacamole which came with warm tortilla chips and salsa that was fabulous! It had a tang of tomato with a small kick and lot of underlying flavors! I am always impressed with a great salsa! As part of the happy hour deal we also indulged in the $3.00 tacos! I had a Street taco which was filled with luscious, juicy and well flavored chicken with fresh cilantro and creamy queso fresco! The first bite was amazing, but when I added a bit of the guacamole and the salsa to it...it was just plain delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed the pork tacos he ordered and the ghost chili sauce that he could put on it. I can't wait to go back to try the fish tacos and maybe the sangria! Met friends at Pedros on a Friday night. We had a table reserved, lucky for us. I ordered the classic margarita, very nice. Others at the table paid way more for their drinks. Stick with the basic drink and it is a good thing. After drinks arrived no server for nearly 45 mins. Three tables around us had food by this time and they sat after we did. Finally we wrangle the server away and order. My meal arrives sans chicken, which I spent $4 extra dollars adding to my meal. I sent it back and I get four pieces of dried out chicken a little bigger than a silver dollar in size. I know that things are tight, really? I could have nearly a pound of chicken for the $4s I paid to add that to the $8 taco salad. Rest of the food looked good, no word how it tasted. I am not sure that they can over come the bad service and survive the summer. read more

I had very high hopes when they opened a few years ago knowing this was the same ownership as the Ramp in Cape porpoise. The food has steadily improved. The service is hit or mess. This is very understandable considering the boom and bust tourist traffic through Kennebunkport. Sometimes a simple lunch can get confused and protracted. More than once a server here put a plate of nachos down in front of one of my young kids only to say "this dish is extremely hot". Completely annoying. read more

This might be a fantastic Mexican place for Kennebunkport. I've been to plenty of Mexican places. This is one of the worst. Service is pretty good. No complaints there. Both the chicken and carne asada have absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. Very good Mexican restaurants marinate chicken, beef, and pork. Certainly not at Pedro's, though. The food is tasteless. On another note, I asked for a side of salsa. Figured, what? $1-2 for a side of salsa? No, $4!!! For two tablespoons of pico. You can get a bowl of Italian salsa and Parmesan bread at Grissini's for exactly $4. How do I know? I ate at Grissini's the following evening. Pico de gallo is the only type of salsa Pedro's offers. Every Mexican restaurant I've visited in Cali, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, NYC, and even Connecticut have various salsas on-hand. Finally, Pedro's is probably great for Kennebunkport-area residents who need something close to Mexican. But every time I vacation in Kennebunkport, there's no way I will eat Pedro's. There's a way better Mexican place, with better quality and above average food (especially the burritos) south of Kennebunkport near York, ME, called Loco Cocos. I urge you to try Pedro's and see for yourself. If you have taste buds, you'll know what I'm talking about. read more
