Some pros: huge menu including those fun and yummy bubble donut thingees, which come out piping hot. Some cons: untidy dining area and lackadaisical staff. I often wonder, tho, if the staff at some places just treat people differently if, like me, they are a bit clueless about bubble tea lol. Grace for the dirty dining area would be that the staff was all by themselves and probably with steady customers to prepare orders for. Would be hard to get out front. This place isn't as great as I remembered it to be back then... I went here with my mom on a Sunday afternoon while shopping in Southcenter and decided to get some of their drinks to go with our tater tots we got from nearby Undercover Fries (which I'm not sure if they have a Yelp page). Ambience is very casual, with plenty of seating. Nothing to say of service since I only ordered at the kiosk closest to the entrance. I got their passion fruit & lemon green tea, and my mom got their peach green tea, both at 70% sweetness and ice levels. We both ended up tossing our drinks after having about half of it for similar reasons, the biggest one being that the drinks didn't taste at all fresh. They were also watered down to the point where we weren't sure if we got 70% sugar as I saw on the kiosk or 25% sugar. I've been here several times before and have tried their bubble waffles and other milk tea drinks, so this review on its own isn't an accurate representation of my experiences overall. But for this one visit, I wanted to get the mango desserts from Hui Lau Shan again at Southcenter... those who know what this place used to be will know what I mean. read more

I cannot really speak for too much of the service as we used their self-order kiosk but the barista was friendly and even let us have our dogs at the edge of their café. She called out to us in a polite and friendly manner once the drinks were all ready. She made our drinks exactly as we ordered and it was the perfect pick me up as we went about our day. I think this is one of the best places that actually follow your customizations as I feel other places don't even bother sometimes or just keep making it sweet. My boyfriend got their oreo milk tea which he really liked but just be wary to not sip from the bottom as the oreo crumbles are below and it was just a very dry sip. I got their ube mochi milk tea which was delightful as the mochi wasn't like little bits that could get stuck in the straw but rather like a pudding. I ordered online and they took a really long time for my order I had to go up and ask them what is going on and they all looked confused (like they didn't know what they were doing). I was a little sad to see that a new fruit tea store replaced Hui Lau Shan. HLS had some amazing mango drinks and I didn't mind having them every week! I still decided to check out this spot since I wanted some fruit tea. We got the mango jasmine green tea with crystal boba. We stopped by and ordered a bubble waffle from the kiosk. After waiting about 15 minutes, they let us know they ran out of batter. They refunded me but I wish they would have let me know earlier on so I didn't waste our time. As we waiting, we also noticed the workers were not very sanitary. The male worker was assembling the bubble waffles without wearing gloves. We noticed him handling the ice cream and fruit on top with his bare hands and also saw him spraying cleaner onto the countertops prior and wiping it without gloves as well and then going back to the waffle. Upon seeing Peekaboo's whimsical desert display, I knew I had to try it out! The food: I ordered the fruity bubble waffle ice cream - whatever it was called. It consisted of soft serve vanilla ice cream, strawberry syrup drizzled on top, and a bubble cone that tasted like a cream puff, once combined with the ice cream. Sweet, sliced strawberries and fresh blueberries adorned it as well. It was delicious! However, I ordered it with Nutella, but I got marshmallow cream with it and no Nutella. I didn't pursue the matter. All the food on the menu looked scrumptious. The majority of it was tea and coffee and deserts. The service: It took 10-15 minutes waiting for my food to be ready. We came in for a drink at Southcenter and tried something we have never had-rice and beans in our tea! This surprisingly worked for us. Peekaboo is conveniently located within Southcenter mall, and it was easy to make our order at the kiosk. One great thing about them is that you can personalize your order through the kiosk, so there is a chance to adjust your order based to your liking. There are lots of pictures of their food and beverages as well. While this trip was short and sweet, there are plenty of things I would love to try. Their Taro tea was great! It is right across Jollibee and beside Chowking so I usually end up going here after a full meal from my go-to Filipino restaurants in the area. They have a self-service screen which I adore. I like taking my time when choosing a drink so when it's not busy, i spend a few minutes adding the toppings I would like and the sweetness level I would want for my boba. It could get busy during weekends so I always order to-go. I liked everything I ordered (ube and matcha) except for the dalgona. In Asia, dalgona is supposed to be a tad sweet. Was here 1/28/25 at around 3:30pm. I was the only one in when I ordered, yet it took longer to get 2 hot taro milk teas than it did to get our food at Jollibee. There were two girls working, and one was talking non-stop, barely paying attention to what she was doing. Service is very forthcoming, they have two automated self order terminals a stand alone and one by the cash register. We ordered from them and asked for a sweetness adjustment over what was available in the terminal menus and were accommodated accordingly. We ordered the oolong milk tea(70% sweet), matcha coffee late, and got the pleasure to try a surprise secret menu option, the strawberry crystal crema.
