I've been coming to Peerage for about... 6.5 years now maybe? I've tried out so many nail salons in the South Bay Area but was never happy enough with the overall experience to keep coming back to the same place. Other places have either consistently kept me waiting 15+ minutes past the appointment time, done poor work, provided poor customer service, were too noisy, too pricey, or too inconsiderate with how they handled my long nail beds. Amy consistently provides great customer service and work, and has a memory like an elephant because she never forgets! From my first few appointments she remembered to be careful with my nails because I have very high nail beds and in the past I've been traumatized with how careless others have been, clipping/nicking them. Amy also has me check my nails every time she cuts and files them so that I can point out any nails I want to file/shape differently because she knows how much attention I pay to detail. She's easy to speak up with and voice concerns. I always get compliments on my nails and when asked about them, I always recommend her. Additionally, she is the business owner so if you're looking to support a local SMB ran by a boss ass bi*ch, this is your place. Ambiance: Never crowded and always peaceful. Some of the more popular chains in the area are really nice inside aesthetically speaking, but are SO noisy because of their popularity and completely takes away from the peacefulness of a pedicure. Appointments/waiting: If you're getting a pedicure, 9 times out of 10 you'll be taken right away, or will hardly need to wait for long without an appointment. If getting acrylics/dip/gel (long nail styles) I'd recommend calling and booking with Amy in advance because she's always busy with appointments. However, once you get her number (or DM her on instagram) she's easy to schedule with. To this day I either text her or DM her to make an appointment for the week; I never call lol. Large parties: She will also shut down the salon for a few hours or the afternoon for a private event. She's hosted several bachelorette parties and will allow you to come early to decorate, bring food, drinks, play your own music, etc. Price: Very fair and reasonable. In comparison to others in the South Bay, I'd even say she charges on the lower end, however it will depend on the style and detail. For example, if you're getting fake nails, acrylic, gemstones, a lot of detail, etc. that will of course add to the price which is understandable and to be expected. However, even after add-ons, the price still remains very reasonable for what you're getting. Additional services: She even does lashes and waxing! I can't speak to either of those services myself because I only get my nails done there, but I wanted it to be know that those are services she offers as well. read more

I'm really disappointed by the care I was given today, despite the great conversation I had with one of the nail technician. Walking in, I noticed it's really quiet and dead. No clients at all so I was expecting good service since there's no rush but I was so wrong. I had two technician work on me too. I came in for a pedicure and manicure with soak off. The acrylic I had on 3 of my nails are still on my nail beds. The residual acrylic is still intact and I was charged $15 for a soak off. You can see how my manicure turned out from the pictures. My cuticle care was poorly done as well because there's dead skin on there and I wasn't given any cuticle oil or moisturizer so you can see all the dryness. I opted out for colors hoping they would spend more time on nail care : ( My pedicure (didn't want to post my feet pics) job is actually really comical. The nail isn't fully painted with the color because she didn't paint close to the sides and corners. I have never had a pedicure this poorly painted before. No one is going to stare and notice but it's my own toes, so obviously I'm going to notice and I paid and tipped :' ( read more

I stumbled in here one day and was met by May. And boy, am I happy I found her here! She is the best, especially when you're looking for a special design. May is quick but pays attention to detail. The best part is my gel manicure lasts at least 3 weeks before any chipping! And May offers to fix anything if they happen to chip the first couple of days. She's very sweet and genuinely wants you to leave happy. When May wasn't working one day and I had to get my nails done... Linda did both my gel manicure and pedicure. I coulda done a better job at home. I asked her to remove the previous gel completely and she said my nails were too thin because she filed it too much and didn't want it to break. I asked her to make sure my nails were even and she said they were, without checking. So I checked and asked her to fix some of them because she filed one side too much and she said it's because my nail is crooked. I asked her not to paint on my cuticles and she said she didn't but was irritated each time I pointed it out for her to clean. I asked her to make sure the polish was smooth and she said the second coat will be better. Then I said it's still not smooth, and she said the top coat will fix it. After the top coat, it still wasn't smooth and she said that's how the color was. Then she just layered another top coat on really sloppily that didn't even cover the full polish. I got tired of pointing out the bad job she did so I just left it. 2 stars for not talking crap about me in vietnamese but I will not be returning. read more

I'm just a regular guy, a regular guy with messed up hands and feet. My wife said it's time to go get a mani/pedi. I went in feeling like a weirdo, I'm the only guy in there! My wife said to ask for May, I didn't listen. I got lucky and ended up getting May anyway! She was awesome, she tuned up my hands and feet, and now my wife doesn't complain about me stabbing her with my toenails all the time. Life is good, May is good, Peerage Nail spa is good. Came in via ClassPass reservation. Amy helped me out swiftly but was telling me she didn't see my reservation and was determined I didn't make an appt. I said I got a confirmation email and was sure I have the appt set up, she then found the appt and said ClassPass sends her notification for everything so it gets buried. Understandable. I reserved for pedi so I chose a color and waited in the chair for the next assistant, for about half an hr. The service was great and attentive. Overall I will come back for the service. I was in mad need of a pedi & got a spa pedi with gel polish for $40. It was completely worth it after my feet received a much needed pampering. Before the polish was applied, a salt scrub was done. For someone who was rushing Amy to get started, she sure had a lot of time on her hands to write all that. She came in with an attitude, Amy said it would only be a couple minutes (which it was) but then Pooja unnecessarily said "well how can it be a few minutes when you just got started!?" (on my nails) to which then I personally responded, 'she's only putting the acrylic on my nails and then I'm gonna go start my toes and she'll finish my nails after my toes.' If the person working says it's going to be a few minutes, they're going to make it happen in a few minutes. Amy wore a mask while working on your nails, chewing gum is your own personal pet peeve you wanted to add to make this seem more than it was. Your hands are not hers, she can't tell if it's hurting you if you never say anything. My nails were tender from not getting nails for a couple months and when it started hurting, I told her and she fixed it. For someone who seems to like to argue, based on what I heard and seen from all her other one star reviews, she sure can't speak up for herself when really necessary. If she knows how a nail practice should be ran and wants to point in Amy's face and say "do a good job", she should spare everyone's time and do her own nails at home. Everyone in that salon was starring at her from the scene she caused, I don't blame Amy if she was side eyeing too. She charged her the same as she would charge anyone who wanted a fill that had a broken nail. I'm a regular, which should have been obvious by the way we were comfortably conversing when she walked in. No walk in should be jealous of a regulars relationship, which she portrayed when she asked Amy why she was treating her differently than me. What can I say! Hannah is literally the best! I have seen her in the past and decided where I had been going just wasn't cutting it. I can back to get the BEST pedicure you will ever get! The salon is large, clean and quiet (at least while I was here). Her attention to detail is unmatched. If like me you suffer from a lot of dry skin around your edges you know how painful it can be. The chairs had massage functions to them, they used liners in the tub, place was spacious, everything felt fairly clean and sanitized. No AC but that didn't bother me. My daughter loves Amy for gel nails and recommended this nail salon. However, I only wanted a basic manicure on natural nails. Unfortunately, Amy doesn't offer this service herself and so she set me up with one of her other staff. I had an appointment and the manicure was quick and inexpensive. She did a good job with shaping and cuticles. The paint was a little iffy - but she seemed to believe it was because the polish was brand new. (I brought in my own OPI because I needed a specific shade of red!) It was $15 without tip which I felt was a good value. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 is that it could use a better seating area. If you've made an appt or are a walk-in and need to wait, there isn't really a good sitting area. Also, it feels a little rushed and matter-of-fact. If you're looking for a group pampering, it doesn't really have the ambiance for that. Go there if you would like to see a display of Amy's ego while chews gum the whole freaking time (eww) and talks to you as if you are a charity case. Amy did the nails so fast she had no idea she was hurting my fingers so much. she buffed the nails while looking at other people and not even at my nails which is not how a practice should be run. She has no idea of How to speak to customers. And there you ask a question to her she's going to blame you for asking the question and is going to blame you for coming with a broken nail instead of reassuring that she's going to do a good job honestly, I'm trying to be polite, but she's just a mean asshole. She Is so full of herself, she is constantly chewing the bubblegum and giving you a slight egotistical side eye any time you ask her a question. She would also just charge you for every second she touched your finger. I can just summarize by saying that she is really at her shoddy at her job And not even trying to compensate that by giving customers a good treatment. 1 Star for how easy it was to get an appt. This was my first time at peerage and was very excited after seeing pictures others posted and how fabulous their nails came out. The salon is in an unexpected location. When you walk in, there are two sides. One with the nice, newer chairs and the other with older chairs. We were unfortunately sat in the order seats. The pedi seat my friend was sitting in, was peeling and my seat felt like I was sitting on hard rocks- it was not very comfortable. When I sat down, the tech didn't even ask what type of pedicure I wanted, she just went about doing her job. It was an ok leg and foot message, wish she would have put more effort into the scrub. The end result was poor-as you can see in the pictures. When I accidentally hit one of my nails and messed it up. I immediately notified them to fix it. The tech came, rubbed alcohol on it and then applied another coat on top. Which is probably the reason that nail looks the worst. After taking a good look at my nails, I realize the edges are so sloppy. Grant it, they probably do amazing gel and shellac's but if you can't do a decent/good basic manicure. I'm worried. Amy and her team are always on point. I've gone to many places here in San Jose before finding Amy and have had some interesting and questionable experiences at other places. Because of this, I will never go anywhere else LOL. I'm a creature of habit, so I always always ALWAYS get my nails done with french tips, and they NEVER disappoint. I'm very particular about the shape of my French tip nails, can't be too squared or straight across...has to curve! And they have it down just right!! SO thankful I stumbled upon Amy's salon a few years ago, and will keep coming back! Even if I move out of this area...I'd make the drive to see her and get my nails done lol. read more
