They are trying hard. I give them that. I upped Petes from a 1-2. Just because the service is getting better here as the months go on. Entrance still confuses people. Especially the older crowd it seems. The pastry still semi frozen and not so delish. The coffee doesn't always seem fresh in afternoon. And the. Mochas are dreadful. Which is a problem because it's my fav coffee. Never a consistent mocha made either two sweet or no taste or that in between taste that I hate. Will try again in another week see if they can make the perfect mocha. read more

The coffee is really good. I wish that they covered up their baked treats so that flys and nats do not swarm them when their doors are open in the summer. This is gross so beware of this. I tried to suggest to the cashier today that they put 1 item out for display and cover the rest. She just acted like it was not an issue and that I should not buy them if I did not like the flys. There are simple solutions to increase sanitation of the baked items. I hope the manager reads these posts. read more

All you need to know, havana cappuccino, that's it, best drink ever. Hot or cold it's amazing. The staff here is always so friendly and sweet, the place is always clean and organized. I know I can pop in for a drink and be in and out in minutes. The only downside...it's next to a Trader Joe's. Which means I walk in after to spend all my money. I love coming here every weekend morning on my way to the the Shirlington Dog Park! The staff is very professional and nice!

Summary: Peet's should receive 4 stars for the quality and variety of its coffee, but its unprofessional staff must improve. # of visits: 3 Pros: - Excellent variety of drip coffees. Peet's serves a light, medium, and dark roast coffee every day as well as espresso beverages and teas. In addition to the drip coffees, they also sell fresh roasted whole coffee beans (again in either light, medium or dark roasts and from a variety of source-countries). - The quality of said coffees far exceeds their competitors'. Peet's lists the roast dates of all of their coffees and the commitment to freshness, good beans, and careful roasting is evident in the quality of their beverages. Flavors are clean and subtle. Dark roast lacks the bitterness of Starbucks. All in all, Peet's makes a superior cup of chain coffee. - Good neighbors. My wife and I attended Peet's "Get to know your neighbors" party and we were one of the lucky few to get a week's worth of free coffee and a free travel mug! Cons: - The staff are inexperienced and it shows in their service. On one occasion, I ordered a medium roast coffee. As they were filling my cup, they ran out of the medium roast. My server then tried to top off my coffee with light roast without me noticing (she actually called the cashier over to stand in my line of sight as she did this). The cashier then handed me my coffee as if nothing had happened. When I asked if they had mixed light roast in with my medium roast, the cashier said no! The server then came over and admitted that she had, in fact, mixed the two coffees and offered me a replacement... Running out of medium roast coffee was a minor issue that was out of the server's hands - mixing coffees and trying to cover it up/lie about it was completely unnecessary. I am sure that problems like this will be ironed out as Peet's continues to train its staff, but ultimately they keep Peet's from maximizing its potential. read more

Not my favorite Peets Coffee location. We visited on a Saturday morning after brunch and they had a very scant selection of pastries. Ended up going with the last blueberry muffin they had and it tasted rather dry. My bf was moderately more impressed with their coffee, but nothing to warrant us visiting too frequently in the future. There are just better cafes in this area. read more

I headed in here on a whim because it was hot and a little too early to go to brunch and I'm so glad that I did! The shop is smallish inside, but, if I remember correctly, there are 4 tables inside with additional patio seating. The barista taking our order was awesome and I'm so mad at myself for not getting her name, but she was a late 30s to early 40s short haired lady who was super helpful without being patronizing or weird. She is literally the nicest barista to ever barista. Anyway, since it was hot, I ordered a black tie cold brew, which is sweet condensed milk at the bottom of the cup, plus cold brew and ice on top, with half and half. It was incredibly tasty and refreshing on a hot day. read more

This is a nice Pete's, convenient to the Shirlington Dog Park and the Four Mile Run bike trail. Staff is friendly and there is never much of a line. Minor issues that prevent a five star rating are the lack of electrical outlets and the lack of real bike parking. Seating is also limited, though in the nice weather the outdoor seating is lovely. read more

Don't come to this peets. Forgot to give me my food, then told me ham croissant was the same price as the butter one, so charged me 1 more dollar. Space is tiny and noisy, and the wind of the air conditioner right on the tables is very strong, blew the sugar bag and tissues down the table, sugar spilt on all over my legs and into my shoes. They can't do anything to that air conditioner. Worst peets ever seen! read more

Peets Coffee took over for Caribou last year and they have done a great job! I was a fan of Caribou Coffee but Peets coffee is also great, always fresh, and their snacks or breads (pumpkin bread, banana bread) are great. The staff is mixed from old Caribou Staff and new Peets Staff so still great Shirlington Village customer service. read more

Let's start by understanding that I do not have a refined taste for coffee. That being said if you are looking for a review detailing every essence of various coffee beans you make want to read a different review. I love the taste of coffee without any additives such as creamer, sweetener or milk. I drink my cup if joe black. I am a fairly heavy coffee drinker and I prefer to brew my own than buy. I avoid gas station coffees because, well, they suck. Peet's is leagues above Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. I very much enjoyed a medium dark roast. Excellent tasting coffee. The only issue was the Internet wasn't working but I was told it was only because it was down in the area for the day. I like Peet's coffee. I've gone to this spot a few times. They make a nice capuchino, usually with a friendly smile, but they do tend to get busy and their inside space is a bit cramped. Today, they sorely disappointed me and I will likely never return. I dropped my iced coffee, within 1 minute of purchase. The plastic cup slipped from between my fingers. I immediately set about to clean it up, taking paper napkins to sop it up. It was my fault, and I did not want to just walk away. Well, I was promptly scolded by a young woman behind the counter for using their napkins. I continued to use the pile of napkins that I'd first used. A few minutes later a young woman with a bucket came over and started cleaning the area. I apologized and said thank you and walked out. All toll about 4 minutes had passed by and no one offered me a free refill. No one. It was almost 100 degrees outside. read more
