Horrible customer service. Rude employees that were completely un-accommodating. Coffee was mediocre at best.

Stop by just before leaving town wanting a few drinks before our 2 hour ride home. There was no greeting and my granddaughter wanted a Carmel frap. When tiring to put the lid it would not go on and kept smashing the cup. It was so over filled with Carmel, chocolate and whip cream it started to run out all over the cup. I asked if they could put a lid on Gabi was so rude and looked at me like I was stupid. Rudely asking for a lid from the counter it just pop on for her. Then I asked if she could please wipe it with a wet cloth she gave me lip. I wanted it wipe so my granddaughter would not get her hands dirty for the road. Once preparing the other drinks she was taking in her language to some friends. Then her friend said I do not need help, as I was standing in back of my wife she busted through between my wife and I. It almost seemed I was in the ghetto ready to get into a fight. if I did not move back. I was so pissed off I left burning with anger on how I was handle I went back in to get the address and number. Greeted by another she said they not not have business cards so I gave her my pen to write it down, while waiting I asked Cate what was the name of the girl that helped me. She said I do not know, I asked if she know the names of the people that work here, she stood there with her mouth open then gave me Gabi's name. She then ask if she could help stating she was the manager. Looking at her very young no sense of business I said YOU are the manager she said yes. I knew it was a lost cause and said no. Let me tell you there is a McDonald's very close by just go there and across from McDonald's is Star Bucks. For me....it's a mix--mostly great. It's Peet's. I love Peet's. The coffee is good. Great foam on the Cappucino. And yet..... Maybe it's a Louis XIV complex ("I almost had to wait.") The last time I was in Peet's Half Moon Bay, there were were three staff behind the counter and none seemed busy, but it did take a moment to be acknowledged. They were (still) out of Splenda (yellow packet sugar substitute) and the nutmeg never seems to ground out much nutmeg. read more

I went in here for the first time, and I can't believe the blatant disrespect from the staff. Are all the coffee shops in Half Moon Bay this rude? I went over to order my coffee and the guy was so unenthusiastic and probably wished he wasn't there. He was so unwelcoming, it made me want to run out the door. However, I really wanted coffee so I sucked it up. When I got my order, I realized, that there was too much foam so I asked the barista nicely, if she could remove it and add more milk (after all I did not order a damn cappuccino!) She rolled her eyes at me and said "I have to steam more milk." How rude! Then another gentleman asked if the coffee on the counter was his and she rolls her eyes and says "I don't know." So, he asked politely when his will be ready,. "I don't know, what is your name sir" in a tone so condescending, it made me want to climb over the counter to slap her. The guys said they did not take his name, but she was so rude and kept talking over him and finally the guy said "my name is (his name)" So finally, one of the other barista's came and helped the gentleman. While she went back into her own world seething with anger. I had never in my life encountered such blatant rudeness from a barista. That girl needs to be fired or be given further training in customer service. If you don't like your job, quit. There a lot of people who would love to take your place. I am never going back there and I hope the management reads this and consider my grievance! read more

Peet's is my favorite coffee joint I pull off the freeway quick, fast and In a hurry once I see one! Normally putting sbux to shame currently I'm stationed out of town Pete's sometimes gives me a military discount. I asked if this location did it and I got a rude no it's not Veterans Day don't do it. To the obviously new woman at the counter(who was very sweet btw) that's the only reason this place got an extra star, the other one was the convenience of the location. I proceeded to get my usual Havana cappuccino, before I took it I asked for whip cream the same lady from the back rudely declined and said no you have to pay for that. Not gonna lie I don't usually make a gripe over a rude coffee lady but it was a terrible burnt tasting drink ugh go to the next Peet's. This place is gross and the lady looked trashy behind the counter with black lipstick, be professional and leave that at home .. good luck Peet's. Solid wifi. Very interesting seasonal drinks, friendly service and baristas, lot of seating, clean bathrooms. Gotta love clean bathrooms!

Peet's is a great place for locals to hang out on the weekends in the morning. I enjoy their Chai Tea and am happy they hopped on board the warm breakfast sandwich train! Better than Starbucks and it saves a trip to Main, which is infested with tourists Saturday mornings. read more

We love peets and the maple latte rocks. This location was super busy and the bathroom was yuck! Customer service wasn't so friendly.

This Peet's location is one that my family and I frequent when we drive up to the Half Moon Bay area. It's very consistent with respect to service. There is parking readily available often. It's located in the same plaza as a Taco Bell and a grocery store. Large space to stay, have coffee, read a book or socialize. I would not recommend staying here to do work because the WiFi is terribly slow. I still recommend this location, coffee is as good as all other Pete's locations! read more

I used to work for Peet's and this is one of the best stores they have in the Peninsula. Severely underrated. Three times bigger than the competitor across the higway, half as many people waiting, VERY clean and organized, and excellent service from any of the associates. Personally, I feel the guys that work there are faster, better and nicer than any of the girls that work there and it's rare that I won't side with my own gender. Regarldess of my bias, it is a very good representation of the best Peet's has to offer. read more

I see the average ratings are a four star...so I will assume this is an anomaly. But a couple of things I hope management will address. 1) it took more than 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering. At least consider doing what sbux does and give a coupon for a free drink acknowledging the customers's inconvenience. 2) Men's restroom was disgusting. Not a good experience overall. read more

This Peet's is definitely one of the better ones in the area. There's always plenty of room sit/read/study/etc., it's very clean, and has great coffee. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I know, as soon as I walk in, I can expect a "Good morning, how are you today?" from Shannon along with a fresh cup of coffee almost immediately. The personal feel of the store is a big plus for me. I bought a pound of coffee, Aged Sumatra...for whatever reason, it was not good. I took it back to Peets. The manager replaced it with a selection of my choice and was very kind. This is probably the worst Peet's I've ever been too. The manager Kyle there is so rude and he treats his employees like crap. Everytime I went in Peet's and it was busy the person on bar would ask Sarah the other manager for help and she would tell them no. The management sucks here. I drink A LOT of coffee and ice tea - caffeine is truly my drug of choice. I find myself in a coffee shop (on average) 3 to 4 times a day. While I usually end up at the "other major competitor's" shop because of location, I prefer the taste of the ice tea at Pete's. However, I am sick of this particular location. Since the shop has opened, I've been in around 20 times. Almost invariably, the service is abysmal. Waiting at the counter for the waitstaff to complete their non-work related conversations is annoying, but, as I said, I like the taste of their tea so I usually just bear with it. Enough! This morning, at 9:00, the staff still hadn't gotten around to making any ice tea. While I could understand a periodic problem, this is (approximately) the 4th or 5th time in the past 6 months that they have either had no tea prepared, or no ice tea available at all. Perhaps the staff is unfamiliar with the recipe? You know, tea leaves, water, soaking, etc? I guess that I'll just stick to the "other guys" from now on. It doesn't taste as good, but maybe I'm not cool enough for their store. read more

I love having Peet's here. I do not have to go over the hill to get a good cup of coffee or to buy a nice quality coffee to take home. I go to mom and pop coffee shops as much as possible, but Peet's is my mainstay. read more

Customer service here was non existent. Two days in a row my friend ordered a medium iced drink with soy. The first day they gave her a 2% drink in a small cup. She's lactose so had to send it back. No eye contact nor an apology for the mistake, a small soy iced drink is set on the counter. The order STILL wrong. The next morning the same thing happened. Poor girl paid for a medium soy latte and got a small. I know this because I paid for and received a small. My friend was too afraid to ask for the right sized drink because the staff there were distastefully rude. Jackie is by the far the rudest barista I have ever seen. I asked her if one of the drinks was a peppermint mocha and she ignored me. It was for my dad at home, so I wanted to be sure. My sister asked for a cup of ice which was a HUGE deal. Jackie not only ignored her (because she put a cup of water on the counter eventually) but never said anything but rolled her eyes. It was extremely cold. Then another older lady with glasses piped up and said, in response to my sister's request for ice, "Can you hold on we're busy!" Not, "One moment Miss, it will be right out."Sadly, it wasn't really busy. We both have worked years in customer service and we're just appalled. For such a great coffee place, this establishment lacks everything a coffee goer returns for: good service, friendly attitude, an inviting place. Will not be returning to Peet's again. read more

Peet's has always been my favorite coffee and the HMB store is a great local hang out space to have great coffee in.

There was just one person making the drinks for people and 2 to 3 people taking the order. Not sure if the operations manager of the place knows how to reduce waiting times and help improve turnaround. Pretty ridiculous! read more

If I were the manager here everyone would be fired. In short, the batista's here are slow and rude. They ask for your name but never call out your order. There's at least 5 people working behind the bar yet a Starbucks team of 3 is more efficient. Go elsewhere. read more

This place could be great if they would clean the tables (as noted by another reviewer) and if the service were better. I only order a simple cup of coffee but they manage to spill it over the side, or forget I'm standing there, or act snippy. I don't like that the wi-fi runs out after an hour although I suppose some would not agree with me on that. On the plus side, the space is welcoming and bright and of course the coffee is good. read more

This is a Peets that actually has a decent amount of space and a few good places to it, making it conducive for studying or laptop use, unlike most Peets in the region. Its location is also very convenient, especially compared to the tiny Starbucks across the street. read more
