Better than the best! Their coffee is excellent and in addition to my favorites on occasion I'm enjoying new (to me) brews and presentations. Location is great and I often meet my friends there. Here's the clincher: A while back my Yelp of the place was much like the above but I'd knocked off a couple of stars because the naugahyde seating had tears in it. Presto. First off it was a rainy Sunday afternoon at 3 there was no fresh coffee made there was one girl at the counter and 5 customers deep in line 5 customers deep in line. Not one other employee attempted to ease the line. When I finally got up to the cash register I was told there was no fresh coffee this is the longest wait I've ever had to endure at Peets ever. Employees are great. Coffee is good. But the internet speed is a joke. 2 months ago I clocked it at 0.1MB per second or 100 KB per second. I.e. not even fast enough to use email. 2 months later and the problem hasn't been fixed. It's quite frustrating when decent wifi is ubiquitous and we are so close to silicon valley. I'd give this store a five star rating if they would check to see if the seating area is clean. I would say that 75% of the time, the floors have crumbs all over them (especially after customers with small children have been there). Often the tables are dirty. On more than one occassion, I have had to ask for a table to be cleaned, or have wiped down a table with a napkin myself. I like the staff, the location, the physical space, the pastries, and the drinks. Starbucks has employees come through and sclean the seating area regularly. Peet's needs to do the same. read more

Briliiant spot, ideal for coffee, pastries, sweets and the rest if you're shopping in HMB, stopping off Highway 1 or recovering after a delay on 92. Large, bright, and spacious premises and friendly staff make this a great spot to do some catching up with friends or just chilling out. Peets get it so right with their WiFi rule too. No pesky kids and hipsters hogging the seats all day and ruining the atmosphere - LOL! Really, this is the place to go for coffee in HMB. Don't believe me? Only recently started coming to this shopping center with the arrival of New Leaf. Love the smell of coffee at Peet's although I really hate the taste -- of all coffee, not knocking the Peet's coffee :-). Staff are nice, and glad to see they have some vegan baked items, too! For wi-fi, if you purchase a beverage, you get an id that gives you some time for "free" (or shall we say, no additional cost). I think it's an hour that you get. In a nutshell: + Lot of seating, has outdoor ones too. + Not noisy. + In a mall complex, so plenty of parking. ~ Drinks are okay - not fancy, not bad either. ~ Restrooms could be cleaner (but hey, depends on people who use it too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) This is my regular pit-stop to grab a drink and refresh whenever my motorcycling adventures take me through Half-Moon bay. It has plenty of seating, coffee-shop indie music playing at the "just right" volume. I have tried their lattes, specialty lattes, and hot chocolate (mostly hot drinks) and like them in that same order (less to more). The baristas I've interacted with have always been friendly and make good drinks for a big-chain coffee shop. Don't expect to be amazed - set your expectation right :) You won't be disappointed though. This place is good for working (or reading) too. Noise levels are pretty low and there's usually 2-3 people working on their laptops. I've spent ~1 hour-ish here reading a book and wasn't too distracted or asked to leave or other shenanigans. Being a motorcyclist, I make use of the restrooms whenever I make a pit-stop. You used to need a key (that they you had to get at the counter), but doesn't seem to be required anymore. I'd say it was reasonable clean most of the time and usually has no line either (:amaze:). Parking is easy-peasy as it's in a mall with a big parking lot. Meh. Peet's is a nice chain of coffee shops definitely, but it's still a local chain. The tea is good and regular coffees can run you under $3 (my cafe mocha cost me $2.85) but it's crowded here most of the time in the morning and during the day. It is located next to the New Leaf shopping center so they get a steady stream of people. It's not bad, but if you want the best chai on the planet I would head to Raman's right across the street. Went here the other day while visiting a friend in HMB - I'm so in love with this place...HMB that is. I may have to move here! For some reason, my iced coffee tasted...off. My friend's drink took forever, even though we were the only ones in there, plus a father and daughter. It was odd that they couldn't get it right. The baristas were sweet, if a bit ditzy. I was tempted to shake my keys in front of their faces to see if they'd light up like little kids do. What saved it from being a two star review was the fact they had the peppermint cake brownie things that my husband LOVES. I purchased 6. I had to ask for a bag because one of the brain trust baristas thought I could carry my drink, friend's drink and 2 bags of pepperminty fudgey goodness. Hopefully the next time I visit there will be baristas who aren't so out there. However, whatever shortcomings they had for everyday common sense, they made up for in a sincere smile and sincere desire to get what they were doing right. No surliness when I asked for another bag - i was given a smile, a bag and the girl put the 2 little sleeves filled with the peppermint brownies in them. She also waited until I had that settled then handed me my drinks. You have to understand, not many people do that anymore...so that's why this place gets 3 stars and not 2. read more

We're a mixed marriage - he likes Peet's and I prefer local mom and pop coffee shops. We'll both take a Starbucks on occasion. This Peet's has more comfortable indoor seating than the run-of-the-mill Peet's - though the ones in Menlo Park and San Carlos are seemingly more upscale in seating and decor. We wind up here to do computer work more often than not due to Peet's proximity to New Leaf Community Market - our grocery store. The staff is ok. Of course, I don't like the coffee - and he is not a coffee person, but if you know and like the Peet's brand, you'll like this location. The wifi is dependable. The place isn't cleaned as often or thoroughly as most Starbucks, I'd say. Staff is lackluster, food is demoralizing. read more

I've heard rave reviews from family and friends regarding Peet's. So I decided to give it a try during my visits in SF area. Today I ordered a blended Cafe Fredo with an added shot. It was disappointing :( The flavor was lacking boldness and I did not taste the extra shot in my coffee. Ugh! Disappointed once again after giving this Peet's at least a dozen tries. I love Peet's. I moved to HMB from Sacramento and Peet's in Sac always started off my day, my day trips, my lazy mornings, etc. Peet's introduced me to my favorite drinks and were always very helpful and showed outstanding customer service. So when I moved to HMB, I was thrilled to know there was a Peet's nearby. Until I started frequenting them. EACH and EVERY single time I go there, I've been sooo so disappointed with their drinks and their service. Different experiences: -I order a fresh brewed jasmine fancy green tea, and they tried to pull a fast one over me by pouring me that citrus-lime green tea blend. -I ordered my tea over ice and they had me a cup of hot water and a cup of ice. As in, "here ya go B*tch, do it yourself!" -I ordered an oatmeal for my daughter and it was completely soupy and watered down -I ordered an oatmeal for my daughter, thinking the last time was a fluke, and it was even more completely soupy and watered down. -I ordered a hot tea and they hand it to me in a to-go cup with no sleeve, nor did they double up the cup, so I have scalded my hand before I can even get over to the self service station to get a sleeve on it. (there were no sleeves at the order counter). -I get an ice tea with no lid. So I take it to the self service station and there are no lids over there either. I go back to the barista asking for one. "Sorry, we're out of lids." Ok, but apologize up front... don't tell me after I go about my own search. - Cold Mochas. - Etc., etc. Truly starting to get disappointed with my Coffee & Tea options in HMB. read more

it's great to have a local peet's, thank you! however you say the shop closes at 7 pm and yet the tables are cleared, chairs stacked up, bathrooms closed and floor being swept while the business is still open. this is very disturbing and not very welcoming, to put it mildly. if you are closing at 6:30 and allowing customers to stay til 7 thank you and please change your signage. otherwise, please continue to stay open and let us enjoy our purchases all the way til closing. read more

I am an avid Peets coffee drinker but normally stick to the one in San mateo on park place but tend to stop in here occasionally through out the week as I live down the street. Coffee is always great and the place is usually very clean. Management should definitely step in as far as the customer service is concerned. I am not sure if maybe team member morale is low or I show up at the wrong times, but each time I have come in, the girls working behind the counter (minus the taller girl who's name I didn't catch and the gentlemen with long hair, both of them are always extremely nice when they are working) are extremely rude and continue their side conversations about parties they attended the night before rather than helping out the customer in front of them. When you walk up to the counter they stare at you like your lost rather than saying "hi" or "what could we get you today". All in all a great area for a Peets location but this place could thrive even more with a more personable staff. read more

Sunny day in Half Moon Bay on my way to a site visit and since I can't have regular coffee but needed a coffee fix I requested decaf. I know but in my mind its coffee; using reverse psychology. Open my coffee lid and it was full of coffee grounds, yes, I went over and requested fresh decaf, not OK. They were very nice and immediately went on working on a fresh brew of decaf, what a day because they're machine was not working correctly either so it was free as well. I am a regular Peets customer and have been since the 60's. I purchase a pound of French Roast per week and buy hot drinks at least five times per week. I also give Peets cards to my clients on a regular basis and take coffee with me anywhere that I travel. I generally keep a high balance on my Peets card and realized that I misplaced it about two weeks ago. When I inquired at my local Peets in Half Moon Bay, Olivia Holmquist took an interest called the corporate office on my behalf and left me a voice mail message about how to deal with this issue. I don't know Olivia personally but she has been a ray of sunshine every day and clearly holds down the fort and is professional even when it is very chaotic in the store (which often happens on weekends). The Half Moon Bay store is often understaffed and occasionally runs out of beans prior to their delivery date (not as much over the last several months), but The morale is quite amazing as it is staffed by hard working staff who clearly understand the somewhat remote visitor serving beach location and Olivia outshines them all. She would be definite managerial material for a company lucky enough to have her in that capacity. You go Olivia! read more

I went to Peet's coffee in halfmoon bay despite of bad experience in the part I said maybe I will give it a try again ! I ordered medium roast coffee and just about to order some pastry and saw fries crawling on the pastries wasn't covered . I told the girl who was taking my order and told her but she ignored me completely . Then I've been waiting for my coffee and the lady after me got her coffee and no coffee for me . When I told the lady she said "we didn't have a medium roast coffee ". How come nobody explained to me but of course that was lied she pour coffee immediately but no apologies !! Sucks sucks sucks !! Peet's is my favorite coffee joint I pull off the freeway quick, fast and In a hurry once I see one! Normally putting sbux to shame currently I'm stationed out of town Pete's sometimes gives me a military discount. I asked if this location did it and I got a rude no it's not Veterans Day don't do it. To the obviously new woman at the counter(who was very sweet btw) that's the only reason this place got an extra star, the other one was the convenience of the location. I proceeded to get my usual Havana cappuccino, before I took it I asked for whip cream the same lady from the back rudely declined and said no you have to pay for that. Not gonna lie I don't usually make a gripe over a rude coffee lady but it was a terrible burnt tasting drink ugh go to the next Peet's. This place is gross and the lady looked trashy behind the counter with black lipstick, be professional and leave that at home .. good luck Peet's. I don't come to this location often but it is a reliable place to get my coffee fix when I'm traveling highway 1. The pastries are fresh and the barista usually does a good job on my cappuccino. The staff here, thought friendly, tend to be more laid back than I would like when the place gets busy. It takes longer to get a drink here than it does at the shops in Dublin, San Ramon, or Berkeley that I frequent more often. It could just be the more laid back atmosphere or Half Moon Bay, but still it can get frustrating to wait around when there is only one drink a head of yours. read more
