The pumpkin coffee is the best compared to other competitors. The staffs not only are professional, they are also very considerate for their customers! This afternoon after a long walk, I initially ordered 2 hot pumpkin lattes for my parents. I later found out my father wanted iced latte. I then asked for ice. The lady staff first gave me a cup of ice with lid and straw. While I poured the coffee into the cup with ice, she came out and offered an iced pumpkin latte for free. They do not over do it with the syrups for my white chocolate drink. For a large it only has 3 pumps& I even went down to 2. It was perfect. The Orchard Hills shopping center is so remote that you have to wonder if anyone shops here but they do. I made my way to Peets to meet up with a colleague and got my usual masala chai latte. I like how Peets serves this up. It feels authentic and it's not sweet like the other coffee houses. It's a little bitter and I love that. However, this location made it a bit too foamy for my taste. I could barely get to my actual latte without having to break through the thick wall of foam. Seriously? I know it's a latte but most of my lattes are not so foamy. This was a bit much. Maybe they just didn't know how to make it or it was an off day but either way, it's a bit disappointing when things don't live up to your expectations. Either way, customer service is great here. Just went in and got some pastries because my sister brought some home 2 days ago and hey were really good. "Unfortunately"what made those pastries good the last time was that I didn't go buy hem my self. Reason why I am saying this is because their customer service. It appears that my wife caught the cashier making faces and rolling her eyes as I focused on the selection of the pastries and made my decisions. "Unfortunately" again I didn't see that. As soon as my wife said I don't want anything anymore it shocked me. I am usually the first one to give Peet's coffee a great review but tonight was somewhat disappointing. So I guess this location closes at 8 pm on Sunday night, we are used to other locations closing later. We walked in right as it was turning from 8 pm to 8:01 pm and when we walked inside (customers were still lingering and no closed sign on the door) we were told they were already closed. We were shocked and asked if we could just pick up coffee beans? The girl said no, I've already closed all the registers. Wow, they must have been trying to bolt it out of there, I guess understandably so. Meanwhile the closest Peet's to us is a 1/2 hour drive one way in any direction but we make the trek to get coffee beans from Peet's and it was a bummer but clearly our fault for not knowing their hours. *Reviewing the Study Environment* I can get a lot of work done here, but seating is limited. They have 3 small tables that seats about 2 people each, one larger handicapped table that seats 4-5 people, and a limited booth area with about 3 tables. If you don't come before 9:30am there's a good chance you won't find seating. Luckily, there are plenty of tables outside where you can study too. It just won't work for rainy days. Pros: - Tucked away on Portola so the crowd here isn't nearly as crazy as some other coffee locations in central Irvine. - Friendly staff. - Coffee is always perfection here. Unlike Starbucks where I get a burnt cup every once in awhile. - I love their Chai Tea Latte. They use real tea leaves and some chai extract to make the latte. Delicious, especially on chilly days. - Pumpkin scone... much better than the one at Starbucks. - It's a really quiet place to study in the afternoons! Cons: - If you don't come before 10am, there's a good chance you won't find seating indoors. The housewives of Orange County (not the TV show) like to come in the mornings and chitchat with their gal pals. Things start calming down around noon though. I bring earplugs to drown out the noise. - For some reason, this Peet's likes to play their music REALLY loud. If you like to study with music then this might work for you, but I prefer more subdued background noises. - Limited pastry selections. It's definitely dismal compared to Starbucks. I love peets. This review is about their service. This is at ~4pm on a weekend. Place is packed with people reading, studying, and of course, ordering. barista #1 - servicing a lady for over 5 minutes. That lady is just quite annoying constantly not sure what she wanted to order. Her bill has ballooned to over $65. Barista #2 - Keeps saying: "Sorry for the wait, we'll be with you...", then helps Barista #1 with the lady's coffee order. Line of 3 becomes line of 5. Barista #2: "Sorry for the wait... " - Stop talking about it, let Barista #1 deal with her own customers and start Ringing more customers! I get to finally order my coffee with Barista #1. Barista #2 is STILL working on the original lady's order. NO one is making the specialty drinks for the other customers! Horrible system. I'm glad i just got a drip and left. read more

I really love this Peets Coffee location! It has a large lobby with lots of seating. They are also located in a shopping center with great outdoor seating (it's heated at night and well lite outside!). They have a great menu with hand roasted coffees from their artisan roasters. My favorite drink here is just a vanilla iced latte- but I'll also often enjoy their cold brew iced coffee. I've been helped by multiple baristas here- who are all extremely friendly with great tips on beverages if I feel like finding something new. When I was here today with one of my girlfriends and we both wanted to order the jasmine lime tea cooler, the woman behind the counter offered us samples first, just to make sure we liked the beverage before purchasing it. Wow! That would certainly never happen at Starbucks, at least not in my experience. The atmosphere is very nice, the store is clean, and there is indoor as well as outdoor seating. Running errands for the nursery this weekend put us near this center. It reminded me of almost any of the new centers you'll find in Irvine... same building styles, same colors, same shops. It was my first time there, but I felt like I had been there before... As for Peet's, the shop was nice, staff was friendly and attentive, and the coffee was nice and mild. My first visit to this location was very pleasant. My local Starbucks was closed for repairing, and this was the next best thing. A hidden gem if I may. Beautiful seating on the outside, and as well on the inside. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a young gentlemen. He told me I was beautiful! haha Got a good salesmen right there. He explained the menu, and recommended some things which made it easier for me. The atmosphere was very laid back. I'm use to loud baristas, and heavy chatter. But this location was very chill. Peets Coffee and Tea is a upscale snack and drink place located in the sprawling District complex of shopping center . There is plenty of seating and free internet access. People were comfortably sipping coffee and working on their laptops. We ordered spicy tea as this had been described as the best in the LA area. The teas are essentially of three types the mildest are the white teas, the medium are the green teas and the black teas are the strongest. The tea was served hot and very quickly after the order. It was creamy and the taste was heavenly. Well we found a super comfortable sofa out side and enjoyed the mild weather and the sunshine outside. It was a awesome experience, a feeling when time stops and words are flowing like the river. Peets is number one for spicy Tea ahead of all the competition who are left in the dust. read more

This particular location is super inconsistent, leaning toward being bad a lot of the time. I live right across the street from this location, and yet i drive to the Tustin location if i plan on getting anything other then plain coffee or bulk beans. I really hate to write a poor review, as this has been my favorite Peet's for almost a decade, however the service has really gone down with the exception of a few staff that have been here for quite some time. There is an employee who speaks as though she's yelling, and she will talk throughout the whole shift with coworkers that are obviously also not enjoying the interaction, it's her performing a loud one sided monologue, as though she has had 5 espresso shots back to back, and other employees simply nodding their heads and trying to avoid her, very disruptive. She also cleans and performs all tasks VERY loudly. She slams tables and chairs, drags chairs/tables across the room very chaotically, it's honestly stressful to be around, I've noticed other customers and even employees on edge while she's there. I hope that this message can be relayed to the staff to simply give her some constructive feedback because she seems well intentioned, but can work on some etiquette. Another barista was not helpful in making recommendations and simply said "it's all the same" with a very dead unwelcoming stare and tone as though I inconvenienced her when I indeed already know a bit on coffee/tea, as I've worked in specialty coffee for a few years back in the day, was simply looking for tips or recommendations. My hubby and I were in the neighborhood looking for Starbucks and came across Peet's instead. Never had Peet's before and since we needed coffee, we decided to try it for the first time. So glad we did. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by the lovely ladies working the counter. One in particular, I forgot her name (she's the bubbly, cute one with dark hair) explained their specials and offered us many samples to try. We just decided to get their coffee of the day. It was so good and smooth. If we weren't in such a hurry, I would've asked what kind of brew it was. Overall, their service and coffee was way better than Starbucks. Summary: Unprofessional staff didn't stop talking throughout my entire stay... staff is loud and distracting (and most likely unaware) Explanation: This is my first time (and last, if I can help it) at this Peet's. I am here with a friend who comes here often. I thought it was just me being oversensitive, but as soon as I mentioned to my friend that the staff was abnormally loud, he began to tell me his experiences. He said that the staff is consistently loud and never stops talking; "I know more about her than I care to know". In fact, this is so true that he started to tell me everything he has learned about one of the staff members as if she was an acquaintance of his. For example, she is a religious Christian and talks about it all the time. I take no personal stance or bias on religion, and understand that people have the right to free speech, however religion is generally a sensitive topic that is discouraged in most social settings so I can see how some may be offended or uncomfortable with this environment. I doubt the staff members mean any ill intent with their continuous chatter--they seem like nice people aside from their aforementioned obnoxiousness--however they are seemingly completely unaware of how this affects those around them. I once worked in the service industry, and understand that a shift can get boring at times, but no one should have to sit through a conversation they would otherwise not be a part of. The only reason why I gave two stars instead of one is because they are nice to customers when taking orders. However, beyond that thirty-second interaction there should not be much more involvement from the staff. -Coffee, Interrupted p.s.
