I was passing by this center after an appointment and decided to stop by to grab some pastries for a snack and dessert for later. This 85 degrees Bakery is in the same center as Trader Joe's, Smart & Final, and Michael's craft store. I wasn't that enthusiastic about the selection in this specific location. Overall, it's smaller and has fewer desserts. I picked up a couple of my regular favorites including brioche and taro bun. Both seemed bland and didn't make my taste buds happy. The young girl who rang up my items must've been new still. She didn't know what to ring or code a couple of my items. She had to ask one of her colleagues. Our friends were pleasantly surprised, and funny enough, since there were 7 of us, we cut 7 pieces off each slice so everyone could get a taste. This is the closest 85 Bakery to me, so it's my go-to bakery. They have a great selection of pastries, breads, and cakes. If you visit later during the day, selection is slim. We have not gone to an 85C in probably a decade, and I was one of the those customers that used to line up at the first 85C location in Diamond Jamboree in Irvine. Things have changed since then, especially the quality of the bread and the size of the breads and baked goods. As everything else, prices have continued to rise, but the size of the breads have continued to get smaller. We decided to purchase 2 breads, ones that we have never tried before from 85C. Maple Danish $3.95 Brioche $2.85 Once we made our way to the cashier, they were not very friendly. We also could not believe that 85C makes their customers purchase a bag for their items. This is not a supermarket. What a huge letdown for customers when they have bought a few items to have to purchase a bag, which is provided at other bakeries. This is not to help the environment, this is greed, plain and simple. (Also funnily enough, I had JUST removed a reusable bag from my sling as I exited my car to the bakery.) Regardless, we did not purchase a bag for our items and carried them to the car. I think it'll be another decade before we step foot into another 85C. Parking was a bit difficult to find, probably due to the holiday season, but with one way parking, it is a bit difficult to enter and exit, especially as this plaza has only one main exit with stoplights. Service was basically nonexistent, not very welcoming and not much interaction to begin with - a bit like a robot. We purchased two cakes from 85 Bakery for a birthday celebration on June 10. The mango cake was delicious, fresh, and enjoyed by everyone. Unfortunately, the Red Velvet cake was extremely disappointing. It had a strange taste and smell that reminded us of mold. The fruit toppings seemed old and not fresh. The cake itself was very dry and tasted stale. Almost nobody ate the Red Velvet cake, and several of our guests commented that something seemed wrong with it. Staff is friendly and I like how fresh bread are constantly coming out and being restocked. They have an app where you can earn rewards so that's good. I was in the area and was craving bread and was pleased to find this location. Parking was a large lot shared with other businesses like Smart & Final. I arrived sometime before noon on a Tuesday morning and was pleased to see there was no line and they had a great selection of baked goods. They also have a kiosk with a touch screen that allows you to order your drinks in case there's a long line. Inside had plenty of seating and it was very spacious. I was in the mood for matcha so I ordered an iced sea salt matcha latte and was very happy with my drink. It was not overly sweet or salty and the matcha flavor came through. All the bread was fresh and some were still warm. I love the soft and chewy texture of all the bread. Some of my favorites are the milk pudding, bacon and cheese, and marble taro. I decided to try the matcha choco bun and it was good but the matcha flavor did not really come through for this one. I also really enjoyed the bacon & cheese, it has the perfect savory and garlic flavor to it. This is my favorite 85 Bakery in the area. The sea salt jasmine they make here is unmatched! This time, I ordered the sea salt matcha latte which is a new item. It is so creamy and has a good matcha flavor! The workers here and always so nice and helpful. It's a clean location and has a good amount of seating. There's also seats by the drink area so you can sit while waiting. This location also has an ordering kiosk for drinks. It's super convenient if there's a long line. I don't think you can claim rewards or app deals on the kiosks though. If you come to 85 Bakery often, you should definitely download the app! Walked in this afternoon to pick up a couple of sea salt coffees and immediately walked right out. Not only was the smell of sewage permeating the entire store, but there were multiple flies on the pastries. Flies that were still alive were in the brioche bag another fly in the milk bread pastry.
