Food quality and presentation has definitely gone downhill. Ordered two pasta items to go and could not believe they were in flimsy cardboard boxes. Looks like the pasta was just thrown in the box. The pasta con brocolli looked liked one big dough ball and tasted like a dough ball. My husband's pasta did not look any better. We have enjoyed food at Pegs since they were in the old location but I think we are done with them now. I would say that was $33 wasted as most of the food went in the garbage. We've stopped in at Pegg's now a couple of times and had good experiences both times. The menu consists of things like pizza, pasta, and sandwiches. We've ordered one of their specials (pizza, salad, and cheese garlic bread) both times. The pizza is really good (St. Louis style - yay!!). Service is good and food gets done in a reasonable time. I was just there recently and ordered a special with hot wings, side, salad, cheese garlic bread .I specifically ordered extra cheese garlic bread, and marinara meat sauce. Was told by the cashier "no problem" I continue to wait over 30 minutes while everyone that was working at the restaurant was sitting around, hanging out eating their own food! I finally got my cold food and got home, luckily had my extra cheese garlic bread I paid extra for but absolutely no marinara sauce!!! Much less the meat marinara that I specifically asked for! The kicker! I called and talked to the manager and told her the situation, and she basically laughed at me! Literally said" don't know what you want me to do about it" I just said well I specifically ordered extra cheese garlic bread for the complete intent that I would have marinara dipping sauce for it! I've eaten here many times but have yet to review. Time to change that. Peggs is a large bar/restaurant with counter service. Sit where you want, order at the counter and they serve your food at the table. I actually really like doing that. It's pretty efficient because you pay upfront and when you're done eating you leave. They have a nice bar area and a separate space for private parties. Peggs features appetizers, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches and salads. It's a no frills, homestyle, bar food. Hearty portions, heavy on the cheese. Everything comes with a side of Fazzio's bread and butter. The space has lots of tables of various sizes. So they can accommodate any sized party. There are several tvs and pool tables and video games on one side. It has a lively atmosphere. My only complaint is the noise level. Due to the high ceilings and industrial looking space, it is very noisy. They would be wise to try to do something to minimize that. But regardless, Peggs is a good family place, great for a large crowd or quick bite. read more

Peg's is a local favorite. The food quality is decent, and their order accuracy is fantastic. One of my favorite aspects of Pegs is the wait times tend to be low. The pizza is good (even cold/the next day); while my family enjoys the cheese pizza I'm a fan of their crispy chicken salad with house dressing! I have no idea what kind of chicken they use on these salads, but it is absolutely AMAZING!!! read more

The service here is spotty at best. Sometimes you get your food in a timely fashion and other times you can wait up to an hour. We also had an instance when they completely forgot to even put our order in. Tonight, husband and I didn't feel like driving back up to Fenton since we had just come from there a few hours prior and also didn't feel like cooking. I suggested getting some sandwiches from Peggs and husband said he would go up there and order them. He placed his order and waited 45 minutes while orders put in after his were coming out. He finally went up to the cashier to see how much longer, since they were just sandwiches he was waiting on, one would not expect them to take that long to make. The girl comes back from the kitchen with a crumpled up, luke-warm bag of food. He takes the food out to inspect and the fries were soggy and entrees cold. Apparently they had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite sometime. He was able to get our money back but ended up Leaving hungry and angry. Two stars only because the staff was very nice, otherwise , I would give this place no stars at all. The food was terrible . Burger must be frozen patty as they don't ask how you want it done. It was dry and extremely well done . The onion rings were concession stand quality . The pizza was awful. Absolutely no sauce , pepperoni was so thinly sliced you couldn't find it . And only about 8 slices of that on a 12 inch pizza. The provel cheese was burnt to a crisp. My pizza came out about 20 min after my husband burger and he was done eating by the time mine came . The staff was nice but there is no service . They don't even clean off your table as they deliver the food, so we just had to keep re arranging the finished dishes on our table to make room . Sometimes we decide to hit up local businesses instead of chains and on this night (it was a Saturday) we decided to hit this place up! When we walked in (about 6:30 or so) it was fairly busy but still had tables open. This is one of those places where you order first at the counter and they give a number to stick on the table. We ordered pretty quickly and settled at a long table and shared the space with another family but had ample room (with a seven year old you know you need room!). We ordered a mushroom burger (me), the other half got himself a salad and little bit had a chicken parmigiana sandwich but we always like appetizers so we went with fried cheese sticks and fried mushrooms as well. The wait was a little slow but it was busy so I can't actually complain really because it's a Saturday and apparently there was a little league baseball team having a party in the establishment so it was ok. Plenty of tv's that had on the baseball game to keep us occupied (well, sometimes... we had to entertain our child as well but luckily there is a game room!) The appetizers came out and were hot and plentiful (i mean who can make bad mushrooms and cheese sticks?) and the entrees a little but after. I will say that the burger was big and tasted good! I enjoyed the side of onion blossoms as well! The other half ended up eating the parm sandwich because the seven year old decided she just didn't want the sandwich (nothing to do with the food itself, she just decided that she wanted the salad all along!) Peggs is a family friendly pizzeria complete with several arcade games. It serves St. Louis style pizza and standard pizzeria fare (pasta, sandwiches, burgers, wings and plenty of deep fried appetizers). Their pizza is a sure crowd pleaser for St. Louis natives. Peggs Restaurant on the Boulevard is located in a renovated former Block Buster store. The restaurant is clean, spacious and the food runners are nice. There is no waiter, waitress or hostess. Instead, much like some fast food joints, you must make your way to the counter to place your order and pay, then you receive a number that you place on your table and empty glasses to fill at the soda fountain. When your food is ready the runners bring it to you. They do seem to fire the apps and entrees separately as they arrive well spaced. The restaurant also has a full bar and I took note that they had a few local breweries and premium spirits featured. Still, this is a family freindly environment. As my dining companions and I were finishing our meal a 10 year old was about to have her princess birthday party at a reserved table with a dozen of her girlfriends and a young couple on an obvious frist date walked in, awkwardly held hands, ordered and sat next to a table where two middle-aged gentlemen who had just finished their pizza and beer were talking sports and watching a game on the tv mounted near the bar. The restaurant was busy when we arrived and always seems to be. The Cheese Garlic Bread is very good. The Meatlovers Pizza needed salt and pepper but otherwise was fine. The House Salad was fine as well. The Guacamole Bites were interesting and I will order them again. Everything cost about fifty cents or a dollar more then it should but, other then fast food there is very little competition in High Ridge and few places are as good in this corner of Jefferson County. Been coming to Pegg's since moving out to High Ridge about 15 years ago. I am not a fan of St. Louis Style pizza, but if I can't have Imo's, Peggs version is a good second. Their salads, burgers and sandwiches are pretty standard fare, but I can't say I have had anything I didn't enjoy. Their Wings are the best thing on their menu. Always piping hot, crispy skins and their hot sauce is one of the best around. We love that they have a full bar, but we get confused sometimes if we always have to order at the bar or get waitress service as it seems like it changes each time we are there. But regardless, they are in our (almost) weekly rotation of local restaurants because they are so consistently good. Luckily they offer Mozz only option and even though they only have the St. Louis style thin crust, their pizza is awesome. The service is always friendly and they recognize their regulars and we see a lot of the same faces when we go. The only knock I can give them is for food preparation speed. I desperately wanted to enjoy a quick late night meal with my boyfriend. We live just minutes from Peggs but don't frequent it very often because the service is typical painfully slow. Tonight we decided we should give it another chance, what a mistake. We called to place a pickup order of two sandwiches and an order of onion rings and the very sweet girl on the phone said we could come pick it in about 30 minutes, which seemed a little long for two sandwiches but whatever, it was fine. When we pulled up to Peggs I went in to pay and the hostess went to get the order for me but rounded the corner without my order. She proceeded to tell me that they were out of bread and would go send someone to pick it up so they could make the sandwiches so it would be a little longer....like WHAT? What have you been doing for the last thirty minutes? They clearly hadn't even been working on our order at all until the moment we got there. So unprofessional. My boyfriend suggested we cancel the order and go elsewhere because of this, so we did and they did refund us the money which they did, but the manager never even apologized for the delay or the unprofessionalism. I'm sad to say I will not be returning to Peggs, and I will be telling the people I care about to steer clear as well. read more

I had a BOGO coupon for their pizza, so we thought we'd try somewhere new. We chose to go here, despite some not-so-stellar reviews. It was a Sunday, we arrived at 5:00. They were not busy. The staff behind the counter when we ordered were nice and friendly, so we thought: ok, so far so good. We ordered our two pizzas, two dinner salads, and two fountain drinks, bill was $28, with the cost of one of the two pizzas removed. Kind of expensive, but we WERE getting two meals out of it, so that was ok. Our salads came out in good time, and they were good, no problems there. THE PROBLEM? It took literally one hour to get our pizzas. No joke or exaggeration. The other problem? A table that came in after us got their pizzas before we did. When I asked one of the workers about our order, he checked on it and said ours were in the oven, and it'd be about 5 minutes more. Seriously, do they have ONE home-sized oven back in the kitchen? Why did it take a whole hour? It was a good thing we had ordered salads, we were pretty hungry when the pizzas arrived. The pizzas WERE hot when they came out, and tasted ok to good. Nothing spectacular or worth waiting that long for. Bottom line: Friendly staff, mediocre food, and WAY too long of wait times.
