Eh this place is just ok. I remember going to the original an beloved location in downtown San Jose back in the day. Of course, a place like this, was awesome back then and was thriving but in today's society here in the Silicon Valley, it's just not as fitting especially here in this area. I've come a few times already and both time within the month has been dead. I ordered their chili dog and it was way too sloppy and salty. The bun is sliced flat while the hotdog was sliced and spread apart. The chili was dumped on top and was so difficult to eat. I'm not sure why they didn't just keep it as a regular hot dog for a regular hold. The fries tasted frozen and with that raw texture. It wasn't salted either or fried all the way. Not good. Came here once for dinner because it's close to my house. My husband and I were pretty much the only 2 people in the restaurant besides a couple people at the bar. We were definitely the only 2 people ordering food. First thing I noticed were the prices. For what they were charging, I was expecting decent quality. Ordered the chicken sandwich with mushrooms and curly fries. Chicken is obviously frozen because it is so tough and almost mealy, not to mention my whole meal was cold. To top it off, whatever I ate made me SO SICK for probably 2 weeks. My stomach was not the same. I don't know if it was bad frying oil or bad chicken, but buyer beware. I will NEVER go here again. One positive is they reluctantly let us park our bikes inside the restaurant because there were suspicious individuals outside at the light rail station who were eyeballing us as soon as we rode up. Me and my husband went here for the first time since it was close to our house and we ordered our food to go. My husband got the boss's special ribeye steak and he asked for it to be cooked medium and received it rare, it was raw raw like lady Gaga . He ordered onion rings and they were burnt. I asked for lasagna and garlic bread and they huddled in the corner and came back and told me they don't have it, so I got the fish and chips instead. 2 pieces of fish with the rest all cold hard fries. Nice and friendly waitress despite the lack of staff present. I came super early and it was the only place in the area open at 8AM for breakfast. So just came for convenience. It's crazy, most places in the area didn't open until 10 or 11AM or they were closed. I asked for a veggie omelette. And it was very early and I was literally the only customer inside so I think the waitress was tired or not truly paying attn since there were two veggie options on the menu. The waitress got my order wrong and ended up giving me a bfst burrito vs a veggie omelette, but it was only one cook and a holiday so I didn't return it. The veggies in the breakfast burrito were really good- I initially got a veggie omelette without zucchini and squash, but sadly that's not what showed. I said screw it it's 830am now I'll be nice considering I'm thinking everyone called in or maybe they're not used to people coming early for bfst. For the burrito, I would say they need one more egg and maybe beans would make it perfect and a better salsa. They kind of burned and overcooked the hashbrowns inside and she forgot to give me my toast. Went in on a Saturday afternoon, lots of parking because it's located in a shopping plaza, not busy at all, so we were able to place our order right away, seems like it's a family owned business, not that it matters. I've seen this Peggy Sue's a number of times and finally decided to come in on a Saturday evening with some friends for dinner. The space was larger than I thought it was. It had plenty of seats and TVs up around the bar. You order at the front and the food is brought to your table. Otherwise, it has classic diner feel. Food: First off, as any good diner should do, they serve breakfast all day. Half my friends got breakfast and were thrilled. I ordered a veggie burger with fries. The burger was good, nothing to write home about. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. Service: Service was friendly. The kitchen was sporadic on when our food came out. I ordered a very simple eggs and toast breakfast and it took 25 minutes for it to arrive to me. The oil that the hashbrowns were cooked in was obviously rancid and it smelled and it made me vomit as I walked home As I left, I told the manager/server that The oil was rancid, but he refused to smell it and told me that the oil was not rancid it's fine. Fresh cheese burger in my opinion...but French fries are not included. Extra $4-7(?) more for it. They have curly fries...yummy and crispy. There were very few people in the restaurant, and our server hovered uncomfortably close. Overall, a much less pleasant experience (2/10) than I've had at Peggy Sue's before (7/10). Sick staffers? We have been going to Peggy Sue's in San Jose and now Sunnyvale for the last 20 years .. from the two locations moves in San Jose to ownership change and new Sunnyvale location; we have been faithful. Even through the changes the atmosphere, quality and service has stayed the same over the years - which we appreciate and love! On our latest late night visit, my daughter and I were taken care of by the present owner and why I wanted to write a review. We had such an amazing night of happy banter, lightning speed service, and one of the best burgers I have had in a very long time. A few new changes, the Sunnyvale location has a full bar and a bunch of tv screens - ready for a perfect game night with friends. First off, I am enjoying that one of the staff has a ringtone from the original Legend of Zelda, when Link opens up a new door with a key. The atmosphere is that of a biker bar mixed with 50s diner. There are tvs all over the restaurant, so not sure if this is a sports bar-type place at night, but as I just dropped my cousin off at Google to work, I need some good breakfast to get me back to Sacramento. As this was two minutes away, here I am. First off, I ordered a diet coke. I was later sadly informed that they have no carbonation, but they let me choose a new beverage of juice or hot chocolate (which is typically more expensive), and didn't upcharge me. A good size cup of OJ, so no harm, no foul. I appreciate it. Then, the food arrived. Look at the picture: Typically, a cheese omelette should have the cheese INSIDE the omelette. This was a dry, flat omelette with two slices of cheese on top. Kind of....pathetic. Harsh, I know, but I rarely get to go out for breakfast, and was looking forward to a treat. The potatoes were undercooked, and the English muffin tasted like it had barely been toasted at all. $20 for this?? And I don't even have a diet coke to wash it down??? A very strange and creepy experience. My wife and I went here on a quiet Sunday around noon, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered a burger and my wife a sandwich. A few minutes after we ordered, a man with a professional camera came in and sat in the back corner. Shortly after they brought the cameraman a sandwich. He rearranged it, touching the food without gloves, while taking pictures of it. Then a minute later, the same thing but with a burger. In the process of taking a shot of the burger, he rotated the toothpick and created a bigger hole. I asked the owner if this was our food and he assured us it was not. Then the server brought out our food, and sure enough the hole was widened in the burger. I told the owner this was the same burger the cameraman had touched, and he doubled down to say it was different. We asked then for them to bring out the food that the cameraman had, and they weren't able to. We left immediately after being creeped out. read more

My family and I enjoyed our break fast yesterday morning! We like the 50s 60s new look of the restaurant and the new menu. My husband and i try the steaks and eggs, the country potatoes were really good but the steak wasn't cook to desire temperature, we ordered medium rare ribeye steaks and came well done, My kids ordered wings and they like it , my little one ordered kids cheeseburger and also like it. Slightly bummed they didn't have iced coffees but they definitely intrigued me with their 32 oz beer (it's my day off and I like trying new places). The service is great and it honestly feels like a hidden gem. I did come @10:30 so it's definitely early but it was one of the few open places nearby. We were in the plaza picking up some other food and noticed that there was a Peggy Sue's! I remembered it was previously a burger place called Boardwalk, but during the pandemic's lockdown, they were never opened. I was so excited to see Peggy Sue's because I haven't seen a Peggy Sue's since I was little. We used to go to the location in Downtown San Jose, but it's been a long time since they were there. It brought back a lot of great memories from when I was a child, so I was so excited to visit! The location is in a small plaza under some apartment buildings. There are some other businesses that are in the plaza and the plaza isn't very big, but luckily since it doesn't get very busy, there's plenty of parking! Walking into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the Peggy Sue statue standing in the front. There were no customers actually eating when we were there. There was just a group of older men that were drinking beer. The interior decor was definitely not giving the same vibe as the original Peggy Sue's. I guess it was a more modernized version but there were definitely a lot of random things hanging on the wall that weren't as related to the original 50s decor. There were even a few menu items that were printed out and just taped at the register. The service was okay. We ordered our food to-go, so it was quick service. I believe that the girl who helped us at the register was new because she was trying to figure out how to add items into the computer. The guy that gave us our food was nice, he gave us condiments in our bag without asking. To be completely honest, I was disappointed with our food. I guess I expected more since I knew what Peggy Sue's was supposed to be like. And another thing is that there are barely any diners that are around anymore, so I was hoping that coming back here would bring back a sense of nostalgia, but unfortunately, it didn't. I'm sure I can't be the only one who misses American diners (Peggy Sue's, Johnny Rockets, Denny's, etc.). I hope that Peggy Sue's really goes into improving their quality because we definitely need more types of burgers around here.
