This is a brightly colored and decorated local Mexican spot. The service is quick and our server was very friendly. She was quick to sit us and take our order. Food came out quickly and piping hot! Just the way we like it. We ordered a combination plate with one tamale and one chicken taco, comes with rice and beans. The chicken taco was filled with meat and topping. The tamale had a good meat to masa ratio, the red sauce was just okay. Definitely appreciated how hot the food came out. The rice and beans were good, I enjoyed those. We also ordered two fish tacos plate. The fish was fried nicely and paired with pico de gallo. We wished there was more fish on the tacos though. Again a large serving of good beans and rice. Today, Julian, the owner, told me that Yelp has been deleting five-star reviews for the restaurant without explanation, dropping his average dramatically. I think that's a crying shame. I have been coming here twice a week since 1998 and now I always eat Wednesday lunch and Friday dinner there. The food is always excellent, the staff is warm, friendly and efficient and the ambience is perfect. Was clean with a few customers. Did not seem too busy, was greeted quickly and seated just as we entered. I was excited to try the crab and shrimp enchiladas as this was one of the very few places that have it on the menu. Our food was quick to arrive. we were given water, chips and salsa aswell. The enchiladas were covered with cheese and sauce accompanied by guacamole Spanish rice and refied beans. There was texture of shrimp and crab. It had a creamy sauce yet somehow it lacked any flavor depth. No seasoning and any flavor of shrimp or crab seemed like it was washed away. The rice and beans were very similar lacking in flavor. For the price it was very disappointing. There was no hot sauce given or at any table to help add or awaken the flavor. While there was salt and pepper at the table i didn't feel that would change anything. I did add some salsa but it still was lacking. We also had a carne asada burrito sadly lacking in flavor as well. Where was the spices that would make this food taste like Mexican food? The only thing that seemed to have any flavor was the salsa and that probably came from a can or jar. Everything else felt like it was made for a retirement home. I started to wonder if I had Covid or something. When I got home I had a piece of cake and some cranberry juice - and I could taste both. Not very busy for a Sunday lunch. Waitress is very nice. But service is slow. The chips are good but the pico de gallo was watery. I tried the pescado veracruz - The fish was flaky but fell into little pieces with my fork because it was sitting in a pool of tomato liquid. I think they must have put the plate in the oven because it appeared that the liquid from veracruz sauce of tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and a few green olives separated from the veggies to the bottom of the plate. The refried beans were good and seasoned well. The rice was also good. But the fish lacked salt, acidity (squeeze some lemon on top) and spices. It needed more seasoning and some cilantro. Prices are in line with the area at around $20 per plate. When we asked what the favorite dishes are she said the quesadilla. Which I can make at home for way cheaper. I also asked if they make the tortillas in house which is a sign a of an authentic place for me, and they do not. I would try it again but stick with the basics like carne asada and enchiladas. read more

The thing is my wife has a life threatening nut allergy and they do have nuts here. They blend some in the mole. When we ate here we made sure to advise our server. She said nothing you ordered has nuts. And I repeated that although nothing that my wife ordered has nuts you should let us know if you are unable to not cross contaminate as that can still cause anaphylaxis. She walked off and she came back with my wife's food burnt and said here is your quesadilla with no nuts or anything and did not seem to be concerned at all about food safety. Been coming here for about 4 years now. Used to come here for lunches with coworkers when we were working in the office. Food is so good! Service is a tad bit slow, unfortunately. If it were faster, I'd for sure give this place 5 stars. I always order the Enchiladas Suizas. It's so good, and it's a perfect serving size for me. Not too creamy or overwhelming in flavor. This has been my go to Mexican sit down restaurant since El Burro closed. Our waiter is always really nice and friendly! He seems to serve by himself, though. So that being said, service is definitely slow. I think if he had some help during the busy times, everyone would be happier. Using a coupon from 2011 when they briefly had indoor dining during the pandemic. Place is located right next to the post office on El Camino Real, with Mcdonalds on the other side. Came here quite often to watch NFL football indoor dining. All that came to a halt during the pandemic. Came here at least three times during the pandemic, as first they had only take out, then outdoor dining, and then for 3 weeks in October indoor dining. We had a restaurant.com coupon, a voucher for $45, purchased for maybe $20. Manager accepted it, but only when they had indoor dining going, and could not believe we had the coupon from 2011! The coupon requires purchasing a high profit soup, salad, or another appetizer, drink, or dessert, as the main entrees top off at $18, $9 short of the $45 for two entrees. Ended up ordering the $18 shrimp fajitas and the $22 combination fajitas plus a $7 glass of sangria. You definitely get your money worth when dining here, which includes chips and salsa. Huge servings. Only drawback is that the food is somewhat bland, even with the jalapeno peppers, and requires more spicy salsa to liven things up. Prices lower here: $18.45 shrimp diablo & $15.45 pescadero veracruz, compared to Tia Juana $20.62 diablo and $20.63 snapper, or La Fiesta $23 seafood & $24.95 shrimp, let alone Agarve $26.95 shrimp diablo, and $23.95 fish. Only problem is that the fish portion is on the small side. The shrimp diablo comes with six shrimp in a spicy hot sauce. We have another restaurant.com coupon from 2011, but will have to wait months until they have indoor dining again, before using it. Downgraded the restaurant from 4 stars to 2 stars. Manager shortchanged me $20, deducting $25 instead of $45 off the bill for a $45 restaurant.com voucher. Checked out the bathroom, one of the few with advertising over the urinals. One said "shrinkage" in big letters, with customers looking down thinking it was an ad for viagra, when it had to do with debt loans. read more

A GEM! No wonder, El Caminito Mexican Restaurant was voted the Best Mexican Restaurant. It is like eating homemade Mexican food. My enchiladas Suizas filled most of the plate and were covered with specially made Suiza sauce. The refried beans were freshly made, and what a taste difference that makes. The rice was a nice accompaniment. A sample of lettuce with a unique dressing was tasty. The nachos were so fresh. And the sauce was just right with the correct amount of Pico de gallo. My raspberry margarita filled a tall glass. It wasn't overpowering with alcohol. My husband's burrito was huge and delicious. My neighbor diner was oohing and awing over her Chile Rellenos, the best she has ever had. I will be back for that dish. The owner, Julian, was friendly. As I put my leftover dinner in a takeout box, he told me not to close until he brought me extra Suiza sauce. And what a large portion it was! Our booth was large and made of quality, tufted leather. Ate here with my co worker since we were picking up rental car from Hertz. The service from the two gentleman that worked there was amazing. Loved how they serve the beers in mugs which is very classy! The food came out in a timely matter and was really good. Very good portions and fresh right out the kitchen! The rating goes towards my second visit here. I can definitely relate to the other low star reviews regarding the two rude ladies working here. I came up to the desk and ask if they had change for a $50 bill. Without even checking, the lady said no and I said um okay. As I walked off, I could hear her saying something disrespectful in Spanish to her coworker. I find this very disrespectful and not professional. That made me lose my entire interest in coming back to eat here. I hope management see's this review and address the issue with that unprofessional woman. We came in and were seated immediately with a party of 6. The chips and salsa were very mediocre- lacking flavor and any spice. The iced water did not taste good. The taquitos were good from what our party members had said. The refried beans had a weird flavor, but rice was good. The nachos were good. I asked for small, street tacos and received very large tacos. They were pretty good, but huge. The salsa that comes with the tacos was not flavorful. We asked for cheese nachos for our toddler and he was the last one to receive his dish. They brought us regular nachos with cheese, beans, and olives. They had to remake it with our little man very hungry. He did enjoy the plain cheese nachos. Overall, pretty good... but only 3 stars for flavor. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of this place Julian and Gosia in a non-restaurant setting and was intrigued to hear about their authentic Mexican food which they are so proud of. When I asked Julian what his favorite dish was (figuring 30+ years of owning a restaurant he would give me the best answer) his reply was he likes everything but what people brag about the most to him are the vegetarian enchiladas. I found that unusual but it didn't stop me from ordering them today on our first visit! I being a cheese lover was in cheese lovers heaven as the cheese was so creamy, the enchiladas were delicious, and the vegetables therein were perfect! Gosia, the owners wife suggested that the El Caminito's enchiladas were also a huge success and desire of many customers. Therefore I ordered a second entrée and was not disappointed! Gosia also added that the garlic shrimp were delicious, And that her comfort food was the quesadilla asada. Very much looking forward to my second trip as two entrées were more than enough for me to bring home the leftovers!! My wife ordered the shrimp and crab enchiladas and said that it was loaded with fresh shrimp and real crab. She added that it was absolutely delicious! I could not believe how busy this place was at such an off time as it filled up at 2 PM today. Felt badly that they were short staffed on such a busy day due to an unexpected non-Covid related absence of an employee. The busyness combined with the brand spanking new yet extremely humble server caused the owners to serve the customers today.
