My wife liked the tortilla soup, but the spaghetti and meatballs wear subpar. Now I guess, I shouldn't expect good Italian food from basically a sports bar but I'll have to say it just was relatively bland. I ordered the habanero pineapple boneless wings thinking they would be spicy-- they were not. Now I will admit, I've gotten used to hot sauce so maybe that's why they weren't that spicy. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be soft, but the boneless wings were not crispy, maybe the sauce made the better soft. But, I did not like it, I was expecting more crispy. But again, maybe is this is the way that they're served. The ambience is okay it's a sports bar. Kind of small as well but very busy. The service was great. I was greeted within less than 2 minutes from sitting down, and I had multiple servers taking care of my table. So definitely they're not lacking in service. I just think since the last time I went there and this time the quality of food has diminished.

It was a guy's birthday and they sang happy birthday to him and put on this ridiculously over sized cowboy hat on him and he didn't like it, but I thought it was cute/funny. Pizza is pretty standard with a decent crust. Again, I'm definitely coming back to try their pastas in the future.

Our favorite part of the stop was discovering the dinosaur park behind the building. It's surrounded by a moat that feeds into ponds filled with turtles of all sizes. The kids counted at least 50 of them, and we ended up staying for a good half hour enjoying the scene. It turned what could have been a quick meal into one of the most memorable rest stops on our six-hour drive from San Diego to Las Vegas. In a world of cookie-cutter rest stops and chain restaurants, Peggy Sue's is the kind of place that makes the drive a little more fun and gives you something to remember long after you're back on the road.

The jammy sweetness of ripe strawberries was perfectly balanced with the buttery crust and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was the cherry on top to my breakfast.
