Cute little salon located in the Kaimana hotel. I came here for the Inca glow Groupon. I saw David. He took me right away and offered me a beverage. He was really sweet. He trimmed my hair, and explained the whole process as he did the treatment. He even let me comb through my hair to feel how smooth it was. It took about 2 hours. The trim, blow dry, and straightening was great. My hair is naturally curling. So it was nice to get the smoothing done with the Inca glow. David also told me how to wash my hair. You need to use a sulfate feee shampoo. If you are looking to get this hair treatment I recommend you go see David! read more

David cancelled and used my Groupon when I had to last minute cancel for COVID....and he didn't give me another option to move forward. All he did was state "read the fine print". I understand Groupons 24 hr Cancellation policy requirements, but him not offering another alternate plan to move forward is unacceptable and shows me he is lacking the Aloha needed for a business to survive on these islands. read more

I found Debbie on Groupon & wanted to get my blonde highlights touched up. It's always a little nerve racking to go to someone new but she made me feel very reassured and safe. She was not condescending or rude/cocky at all which was a huge plus. She walked me through all of the steps & was very efficient. I was styled by Debbie, who can be booked via Vagaro, and she executed what I wanted with expert care. I found her on Google Maps. I can't express how awesome it was to work with Debbie. I've contacted many stylists, since moving back home to Honolulu and everyone charges a bloody outrageous amount for trimming an overgrown pixie haircut and highlights! I've gone to a few stylists on Oahu but felt like I didn't get my money's worth. She's straightforward, does a stellar job, is personable and authentic and her rates are affordable. This is not a post on Peggys Salon particularly.. so let me like that clear .. my review is on customer service and understanding the "do's and don'ts " of it . Pretty simple treat people the way you believe you should be treated . I recently purchased a Groupon from David Richer himself for : Hair cut , partial highlights and a deep conditioning. When I called to schedule my appointment, David instructed me that I needed to send him a photo of my hair ( not in the Groupon ) , after already purchased and he'd let me know if I'd need to not only pay the added in tip (regardless of service ) but also a $35 extra charge because my hair was "too long" ... I asked if he had or has a chart to show what long hair is acceptable or unacceptable by standard . How else can you make this assumption especially without even seeing my hair in person?! Quickly I was barked back at with the response "Conversation over !" I would expect better service from a man of his "standard" and was extremely disappointed with the experience. This would have been my second time to this salon as I had a previous much better experience with a lovely woman but now definitely not recommended read more

The cut & oil treatment were fine but I'll let my highlights speak for themselves. They're..so bad. David Richer, a loser that hates his life and hates his job! I was just trying to arrange the time with him to do the hair cut and single process color. His attitude was really really bad! He doesn't know what is being polite! It seems need to take a lot of his energy and time for only write down my name and phone number. He probably has hard time to write. See, again, he is just a loser. He has no patience to wait for me to find out when is the best time to make a reservation with him. Funny part is, he is free everyday!! He is not even busy at all! It took him couple of minutes to just wrote down my information. With this kind of attitude and customer service, I won't let him touch my hair! I don't even want to meet him! I went with David's Groupon for a color, condition, cut and blow-dry for $115. When I showed up he tried to state that it was just for even though it specifically said "single-process color". Then I got charged extra to get it done because my hair "needed more product". So it turned out to about 210 with the automatic gratuity, which was not deserves because I felt I was definitely treated worse as soon as he knew I had the Groupon. I asked for the condition to stay on 5 min longer because I know my hair won't take if it isn't ( I know my hair more than anyone else) and he proceeded to say "and waste more of my time, absolutely not" I would have paid more if that is what it took, but David's attitude turned me off I just wanted to leave as soon as I could. The cut was good and blow dry was decent, but the color looked the same as when I walked in. There was barely a difference... when I finally had the courage to call and let him know how I respectfully felt about the whole appointment he ended up yelling at me and telling me he didn't like my attitude when I could barely get a word in without him getting defensive. It ended with "don't tell me how to do my job..I don't need you, go ahead and write a bad review!" So here I am.. read more

I was not planning on writing a review, but I am in the hope that David will read this and understand that I was being impeccable with my word. I bought the cut, color, condition & blow-dry Groupon for David. I understand my hair is long and thick and needed an up-sell for the service. However, I left without the color I wanted. Sometimes color doesn't always turn out the way you like and that is understandable, but the haircut and blow dry were great. Nothing was wrong with the color it just looked the exact same as when I arrived. I did feel as if I was mistreated like I couldn't afford anymore up-sell because of the Groupon though. He continued to tell me I was being undercharged throughout the session instead of treating me like a Kris Jenner in his chair (how every hospitality worker should). I don't believe this affected his work; he did great, but it did affect his attitude. I wanted to leave my conditioner on for a little longer because I (the customer) KNOW my own hair more than anyone and knew it needed longer to work. I left with my hair feeling no softer than before (like David said it would). I tried to call David to inform him how I felt not even for a refund or another service because they didn't have the red color I wanted, but he got defensive and yelled at me. I was not trying to tell him how to do his job, but he could have told me longer conditioner would be an extra charge instead of saying "and spend more of my time? Absolutely not!" At that point I could barely get a word in to tell him that he did a great job, but just felt as if I could have been treated nicer without all the cheap comments. read more

I first met Peggy several years ago when the surf school I attended was located a few doors down from her salon. Peggy was always very friendly with all of the newbie surfers shuttling past her doors and seemed to have such a welcoming shop. As I began to be more familiar with the island and fell in love with surfing, I shifted my stays sometimes to the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel to be closer to my favorite surf breaks. On one of my stays, I was in dire need of a haircut, and not wanting to wait until I arrived back home, decided to wander into Peggy's shop. I was instantly greeted as if I were an old friend and sat down to receive one of my most favorite haircuts of my life! I was going for something sassy and Peggy promptly decided a "Rhianna" cut was right up my alley. I left the shop with a brand new do, a beautiful pedicure and a smile. As I sat for my pedicure, I marveled at the customers coming into the shop. Young and old, Peggy made them feel right at home and everyone left beautiful and polished. Regaling us all with stories of her trips to Vegas, Peggy is a true gem and I can see why one would wander in if they lived here just to say hello. A lifesaver! I am so thankful I met Stylist Debbie who has experience with blond color and highlights. I had gone to Aveda for a couple of years which was okay but I was allergic to their products. Since I was so nervous to go anywhere else I suffered through with the allergies until I was referred to Debbie and what a relief to come home with gorgeous hair and no pain. Later to find out Debbie is also a celebrity hair stylist. She most recently did Joan River's hair while she was in town. And the best part is her prices are very reasonable and her products she has available are ones she uses herself and are designed to pro-long her treatments. The salon is located right next to the Kaimana Beach and the New Otani Hotel. You can certainty treat yourself for an ocean front lunch or cocktail with your fresh new hair and style. I am so happy to find my new hairstylist in Waikiki!! I called after seeing the yelp reviews and was squeezed in with last minute's notice. The shop is adorable and located in such a wonderful nice spot near beach and across from the park. David was soooo nice, experienced, and my color and cut was perfect. Just had the best haircut with David that I have had in decades. I am on vacation and my thick wavy hair really needed some attention, but I was reluctant to take the leap. He really understood what I wanted and didn't mess with my underlying style, just freshened it up with a great technique and a very inspiring attitude. I ended up also buying a mini traveling flat iron which was well worth it. The salon itself is a classic gem, with Peggy herself as the receptionist along with her adorable greeter, Coco Chanel the Maltese dog. The only downside was that he would only take cash, and I had to go out and find an ATM. Overall, just a lovely experience. read more
