I was looking for a quick and affordable food spot nearby as my boyfriend and I were waiting for our groomer to get our dogs ready for a wedding. I definitely shouldn't have thought jajangmyeon as my first option but I was also super hungry and it was the cheapest thing on the menu, while I was also thinking it wouldn't take that long. Plus they were open early which was great as we were in the area around 10am! When we arrived, there was a older gentleman who greeted us then looked like he was prepping for the day. He can speak Korean and English just fine too. Once we were ready, we placed an order of jajangmyeon and egg rolls and he brought us out banchan. I did ask for more daikon but he seemed to have forgotten or maybe left as his daughter was there delivering food, tea and taking orders. She was a lot more attentive, she would check in on customers and was very friendly! Also it turns out that my boyfriend's friend who he has known since high school was that female employee, so for those saying the owners have changed, they have not. There is plenty of seating at this food court as well as other options from sushi, Korean food and and this spot that serves Korean-Chinese food. The lighting here is a bit dark but it is light enough to take different photos. It's not too cold nor hot either. You can also leave your plates, utensils and trash on the table and someone will come get it. The jajangmyeon was really good, I was surprised as I feel like there aren't too many places that have good jajangmyeon in Lakewood but I can say it is way better than the other places that serve in the area. I usually don't scoop up the sauce but it was actually really good. They offer kimchi, onion and daikon for their side dishes which I think is perfectly fine. They do offer refills and when I asked for more daikon, the kind female employee even gave me extra vinegar. My boyfriend said the egg roll was pretty good too. This is my favorite spot at this location. Literally everything I have had from here is amazing life-changing Chinese food. Plus you get really good kimchi for free. It's amazing services always quick and pleasant. Prices are a little high, but you get a lot of food for the price. Servers are always great and attentive. Food is amazing as always. Went with my girlfriend and tried to be cool and order something in Korean but, ended up ordering the wrong thing. Knowing this was the case, she still brought out a little extra side of the thing I meant to order. The ambience is what you would expect from any place within a market. The reason for my disappointment is because this is a Korean restaurant pretending to be a Chinese restaurant. It is called Peking Garden Chinese Restaurant but the flavors are not Chinese at all. The wonton soup was an egg drop soup. I've never seen wonton soup with broth that wasn't clear. The consistency was thick and gelatinous not a thin broth. The chow mein was made with a flat rice noodle and not the round egg noodle. The flavor was also sweet which is not how Chinese chow mein should taste. First I would like to note that this is located inside Pal-Do market in the food court that they have there. Don't be like me circling around the parking lot trying to find it. I ordered the half/half Mongolian beef and sweet sour pork, black bean noodles, and gyoza all for to-go. They packed it with a small side of rice and miso soup. The sweet sour pork were lacking some flavors I did enjoy the Mongolian beef the noodles for the jajangmyeon was over cooked and lacking flavor a bit as well Overall experience - I was under the impression that this would be more of a dine in and not food court. I used to love this place. I've been coming here since I was a kid. The last owner, RIP, always knew when I was sick even before I knew. Now her twins help run the restaurant. When they're here, service is fast and great. When their aunt is here, however, the service is not that great, she doesn't fix or admit to any mistakes. Today, she took my order, repeated it back to me between yawns, then went to put it in, she didn't even ask me if it was to go or dine-in, just processed it. I was wondering what was taking so long. Usually, dine-in is quick service with the banchan, but today she took so long. She brought my order as to-go. When I checked the food to make sure it was really mine, i went to her and explained I didn't order to go. She just said "I thought you said to-go." And then did nothing else. My husband ordered from the Korean restaurant next to Peking, and was served his food. Instead of bringing any plates or a bowl for my jjamppong, she just brought me tea and water, not even a soup spoon, just kept the tiny plastic spoon for to-go orders which does nothing for jjamppong. I had also ordered two cokes, she didn't write it down even though she repeated it back to me between yawns. I left it alone because my receipt cost matched her breakdown. I would have been irritated if I was charged for it, but since I wasn't, there was no need. Ahjumma needs training or to not be left alone to man the registers. While conversing is not bad, there is still a bit of a language barrier, but she needs service training as well. I've been coming here for over 20 years, but this is not the first time with this ahjumma. I ate here recently and ended up with food poisoning. I really expected this place to meet expectations since @erika.taste.test on IG recommended this restaurant, but I ended up bed ridden. We ordered the jajangmyeon and jjamppong. I'm sure it was the jjamppong that gave me food poisoning. We ordered and were waiting for about 5-8 mins when our food arrived. So it was odd the food came out so fast, I should've noticed the reg flag especially since it was a seafood soup. I didn't even end up finishing the food we ordered since I was disappointed with the flavor. If I ended up finishing the soup I probably would have gotten extremely sick. The next morning (mind you I ate here for dinner the night before so I'm 100% sure it was this place) is when it started to hit me and I was stuck in bed all day with a fever that reached around 104! I was vomiting and had terrible bathroom trips. They seriously messed me up and definitely need a health inspection so they don't end up getting another innocent person sick. This place shows up and I decide to give it a try. The location of this place is actually located inside a Asian grocery market at the food court. They have couple other restaurant there too as well. I ordered the half and half. The black bean sauce noodle and the sweet and sour pork. The service there is very friendly and welcoming and as for the food. It's alright, not the best I have. There's not many great options for Korean Chinese food in the general Tacoma area. This one isn't a standout option but it does the job. Jjamppong is my favorite dish here. The noodles are in a delicious spicy seafood soup. The soup is quite rich and tasty and there's plenty of onions and seafood pieces. The noodles are a little thicker for my liking but is still tasty. 5/5 Jjajangmyun here is also tasty but very very oily. We have gotten takeout on multiple times and the sauce is packed separately from the noodles. In the sauce container the oil was separated from the rest of the components and you can tell there's A LOT of oil. 3/5. Still good but nothing too special. The noodles are the same thickness as the jjamppong. Beef tangsooyook/ sweet and sour pork: also hits the spot but doesn't standout compared to other places. Overall pretty okay! If you're looking for a Korean fusion spot in this area, I'd definitely say to give it a try :) read more

If ur looking for ur jjampong + jajangmyeon fix look no further! This is THE joint. I always struggle between choosing jjampong and jajangmyeon, I mean they're both incredible noodles in their own way and I want it all. Usually I end up ordering both and stuffing myself until I'm half dead :( but AMAZINGLY ENOUGH, Peking offers a HALF AND HALF OPTION. (insert crying emoji here T-T). Literally shed a tear when I saw that option. One thing to be said about the half and half is that they serve LARGE portions, meaning you would need a togo box if u normally can't finish a large bowl of pho by urself. The half and half is quite minimal - the only meat in the entire bowl is squid + one shrimp. The rest is just onion and noodle, however, it's still pretty good! The tastes are kinda similar to Paiks (the chain owned by the famous Korean dude) and I think there's a chance that they pull/make their own noodles! YUMMY FOOD AND AMAZING STAFF! I don't usually leave reviews but after seeing the staff get belittled and abused by this entitled douche of a human earlier, I needed to say something. Especially since they left a negative review earlier, lying about their interaction. This small family business has ALWAYS provided amazing customer service, even when they are short staffed. And their food is DELICIOUS. Their menu is in English/Korean so sometimes there are misunderstandings regarding what is ordered but that doesn't mean it's anyones fault for it being a miscommunication. The one time that I ordered something that I had thought was something else - they were super polite when I talked to them and were kind enough to change the order to what I thought it would have been - even though they didn't have to do that. What ACTUALLY happened earlier today was exactly that - a misunderstanding of what was being ordered because the customer didn't understand what they were ordering. Then this ENTITLED DOUCHE OF A CUSTOMER decided to take it out on one of the daughters at the front instead of handling it like a polite, reasonable human being. It makes me so angry how they acted, especially when it was obvious that they were understaffed. Who in their right mind yells "the customer is always right, give me a refund now! And I'm going to leave a bad review" OVER AND OVER instead of actually trying to TALK to the employees with respect. AND they apparently did the exact same thing to the place next door. I am really picky when it comes down to Jjajangmyun (Black Noodles) because I have been to many places and tried many Black noodles but it's hard to find the right taste and texture at a restaurant. The one here is okay, it's not the BEST I have had before. I would give it maybe 3 1/2 stars for the noodles. When I want jjajangmyun, I will come eat it here in Tacoma. The other foods I have tried is the Tangsuyook (I don't even know what this translates to.. sweet and tangy pork?) It is... way too sweet and I am not a big fan of breaded/fried foods so once in awhile when I crave it, it's good. Recently I tried their ... oh no I forgot.. wait for it... Ma Po Tofu!! It was interesting. Having worked in an authentic Chinese restaurant back in L.A. awhile back, I kind of had expectations for Ma Po Tofu. Being a typical Korean Chinese restaurant, I didn't expect too highly of it. The sauce was kind of bland but did have some flavor, a little goopy but I guess I liked it goopy? I'm SO happy to find that they just moved to a smaller location! Since I was little my mom would take us to thier original location next to the discount world and they were called Royal Box. This is during the times the Korean Womans Association was created that extended to now the International district. Yes, the Korean women of Lakewood built this city! I'm so proud to see the continued progress and the businesses that have outlasted for decades. What makes this place special are the homemade noodles. Its the secret to why jampong and jajamyun taste so good and unlike any other. Plus all the flavor in the broth. Personally do not recommend kkanpunggi aka the fried chicken wings as they cost 15.99 a plate which is EXPENSIVE! But the young lady who served us was FANTASTIC and got us whatever we needed quickly. The jajangmyeon is just so-so. It's kind of bland, even though they smother it in black sauce. For a stir fry, it only has about 3 ingredients: shrimp, octopus, and onions. I can't taste the seafood at all, and I can barely taste black bean. Sure, they give you huge portions, but that doesn't mean much if you don't love the food. Overall, this is not a bad place to eat. You can count on homey Chinese-American comfort food that's not been under a heat lamp for most of the day. And they make it with a Korean twist. read more

Ok. First. No Fried Rice (so far as I've tried in Tacoma or Washington period) - - taste better than the Emerald Queen Fried Rice. Point-ta-Blank. They don't even put a lotta meats an...an...stuff. But we here to talk about Peking's Fried Rice. And I must say.... It is prettttttty tasty. I ordered the shrimp and because I either didn't see it or missed it-- (I was looking for house fried which has Beef, Pork and shrimp) ....I added my beloved bovine. Not a long wait and the little young ladies at the counter were very courteous. Even got a smile. That goes a long way with me. Perhaps I should have (and I usually do) but I didn't look at until I got to my destination and then-- I slowly opened it. Wow. Peking's seem to use either a short grain (which is weird if they do) or cheap long grain that is 'broken'. Which for Peking can result in a Rice dish that if not careful.... You miiiight end up with a 'bad batch' of Fried Rice. I. e Mushy... over-cooked. Check yo' box before you leave. But Chang a Lang .... Chang a Lang!!!! It wasn't!!!! Nice and numerous pieces of my beloved bovine all throughout. Peas and Carrots... egg. But how did it taste? This place is the closest place I can get decent Chinese/Korean food without traveling to Federal Way to go to H-Mart. Their Jjampong isn't as good as it used to be. It used to be made by Korean cooks, but it seems as though the kitchen staff has been replaced by hispanic workers, which is fine, but it's hard to cook something correctly when you don't know what it's supposed to taste like. Basically the best Mongolian Beef I've ever had. I usually avoid Mongolian Beef cuz it never tastes good, but this one was FANTASTIC. We got the combo with the sweet and sour chicken.
