This place has been here forever! It's a great place to go with a bunch of people and have a family style dinner. The food comes out quick and it may not be a Michelin star worthy food but it's definitely a comfort food for a lot of people. Their black bean noodles are a staple but I also recommend the spicy shrimp, sweet n sour pork, and sizzling rice soup. Their jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) is just ok.. Service is great because I think the servers recognize my family but speaking Korean also helps. Unfortunately, I have witnessed some of the servers being kind of rude to other patrons. The servers are just always in a rush. But I always find myself going back whenever we have a big group. Don't expect a nice, clean, modern ambiance. I don't come here often but it's a Korean Chinese classic institution in Garden Grove. We got the usual of black bean noodles, sweet and sour pork, and seafood noodle soup...aka jajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and jjamppong. The food did not disappoint and came out instantly, although it was a Friday at noon. It was piping hot and fresh, and definitely too much for just two people so we took some home for leftovers. I came with friends who were very familiar with the restaurant. Followed all their recommendations and everything was delicious and each dish had a unique flavor. It's as authentically Chinese/Korean flavors as I ever crave and it'll be a regular stop for me as often as I can. For my early birthday lunch, my family finally checked out this place in Garden Grove around 12pm. We were greeted and sat immediately in their larger party area (place is perfect for big dining groups or parties) Looking through the menu, they have really affordable lunch specials but we opted to do dinner portions. We went the honey walnut shrimp, sweet and sour pork, beef fried rice, and chicken chow mein. For an appetizer we also got the sizzling rice soup. Our server was talking to our nephew entertaining him and everything which was very thoughtful! Food came out pretty quick. Our server brought the soup out with the crispy rice and poured it on there before serving it to us. The soup was light and delicious! Next all our main courses came out! One thing I have to say is even though we ate a lot of it and it filled us up, everything tastes light! The sweet and sour pork was very crispy! The walnut shrimp was delicious and crunchy as well! The chow mein was great but my favorite had to be the beef fried rice. It was packed with beef and tasted amazing! We paid around $100 plus tip and for how much food was left over, I think it was a great value! The hostess at the front was really appreciative of the tip we left, asked how everything tasted, and invited us to come back again. Overall, this place is awesome! Jjajangmyeon is one of my favorite Korean dishes so I'm picky but this was sooo good. The noodles were chubbier than I'm used to but I still liked it and the flavor and sauciness level were on point. I also like that you can order a half portion here to try more dishes. The tangsuyuk is almost never my pick at Korean-Chinese restaurants but wow it was so crispy and fresh here so did not regret ordering. This place has been in the community for decades and they're well known for Korean owner but great, very decent reasonable prices and the black ink noodles. I had been to this place over 3 decades. Used to go here with my kid and/or with his friends & cousins. I also had through family Christmas for a group of 70 people. The place is big and can handle over 250 people easily with private rooms and common area. Parking is easy since they do have a good size of parking lot. Clean and simple but Chinese vibe for sure. The staff here are very nice, attentive, helpful and only guys (have not seen a woman beside the cashier or owner at the front desk). The menu has plenty & simple of typical Chinese or American/Chinese dishes. Don't get me wrong, I like it and reminded me of the early years. Easy and fast turn around for sure. Tasty and nice portion, it's not the best nor the worst but worth it for the price and yummy. This place used to be Packed all the time during lunch time or weekends & holiday. But it easy less these days. Took my kid and went here for late late lunch or very early dinner so just 3-4 tables but same taste, consistency and nice, warm service. I have fond memories of Peking Gourmet and have come here for decades. My parents used to bring our family here nearly every weekend and this was our special occasion restaurant. On this last visit, the extended family made reservations for Christmas Day lunch. People, you've got to make reservations on holidays. The restaurant was jam packed and this place is an average sized restaurant. There were groups of families standing outside and in the entranceway, obviously no reservations, waiting for people to leave. Because we had reservations for a group of 20+, we were directed to the side room, separated from the main seating area. They reserved us 3 tables in the back. They told us to place our orders before the kitchen got too crazy, so our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the orange chicken; garlic shrimp; sweet and sour pork; Mongolian beef; spicy tofu; and Zhajiangmian. Everything was so good, I forgot to take pictures! There are Lazy Susans at the center of each table, so when the dishes are placed in the center, you can spin it around. They also serve a pot of tea, kimchee, and a container of rice. No orange slices or fortune cookies today because they were so busy. By the way, this is the first restaurant that I ever ate candied yams. I used to ask my parents to request them for me. We ordered the fried shrimp with hot garlic sauce, jajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk. Standard service, huge portions and great bang for your buck. If you were to only get one dish, I highly recommend the fried shrimp! It was crispy and delicious. The sauce was amazing! You can't go wrong with the jajangmyeon either. Peking Gourmet is one of those Orange County restaurants that has been around forever. Yes, this restaurant has been in operation for decades. What they serve here is a very good selection of California style Chinese cuisine. They have all of the dishes that you would expect from a modern Chinese restaurant. And, the food they serve served here is always very well prepared and very tasty. In terms of layout, they have two main dining areas. They have their main dining area, which you'll notice the moment you walk in the business. Then, they have their side room. This is where you'll see the larger tables. And, if you ever go there for family events, this is the room/tables that they reserve for larger groups. In terms of service, it's as expected. If there's a lot of people, sometimes the service can be a little bit slow. Not bad, but just a little bit slow. Most of the time, however, you'll get your meals very quickly. Speaking of reservations, I really suggest that you have them, especially on the days where a large crowd may congregate like on holidays. And yes, they are one of the few restaurants that is open on Christmas day. On days like this, if you don't have a reservation, your wait can be quite a while. So, for holidays and other high volume days, I really suggest you make a reservation before you go, with this, they'll sit you quickly, and you'll be able to enjoy your meal without having to stand outside, in a line, for a longer period of time. In terms of pricing, that's one of the main draws of this restaurant. By my definition, it's very cheap. You can truly enjoy a grand meal for a small amount of money. This, compared to many of the other Chinese orientated restaurants in the larger LA/OC area. In terms of parking, they have a relatively small parking lot. The thing to know is, you need to drive into the back, past the restaurant, if you want to find easier parking. With this, yes, you may have to walk a little bit to get to the front door, but you should be able to find a spot. Overall, if you want to get some tasty Chinese cuisine, and you're in the Garden Grove/Orange County area, this may be the place for you read more

It's a popular spot for big parties but once you're seated, service is quick! We came here for a birthday gathering last night around 5pm. Thankfully, we came at the right time because it got super busy shortly after. We were seated in the "party room" that was sectioned off in another room. We had a party of over 20 people and they were able to sit us all together without bothering other guests. We ordered from the group/family menu & ordered few more a la carte dishes. The group/family menu is separate so if you have a party of more than 10 people, request to see the group menu. Their black bean noodles are always delicious & their noodles have the perfect texture. They seem to make the noodles in-house as they are different sizes & thickness. The waiter thought we were ordering too much food & then said after we were done, we ordered too much food as we had tons of leftovers. We laughed & told him we never heard anyone say that at a restaurant. Id rather have leftovers than run short on food. Nice atmosphere & staff being friendly helped everyone feel better as we had just lost our father-in-law couple of days before. I come here everytime I'm craving some good old Chinese/korean cuisine but today will certainly be my last visit. I ordered the fried shrimp in spicy/garlic sauce lunch special (kampong shrimp) to go. Upon arrival, they had the outside back door leading to the kitchen wide open. I saw one of the cooks smoking in the parking lot then walking straight into the kitchen which had me questioning how sanitary this place is. I paid $18 for my meal and once I got home and opened up the box, I noticed a nice long black hair tangled into one of the shrimps. I'm not sure how this was overlooked because the shrimp was perfectly placed right on top. Gross. Immediately lost my appetite but I do understand things happen..... I then noticed that the top of the inside of my to go container appeared to look like it was almost burnt with ashes or something? I was confused because it was also moist from the heat of the shrimps. With a closer look, I realized it was completely covered with dust, tiny particles of hair? Disgusting!!
