I used to love Man Soo Jjamppong so much that I would drive all the way from Irvine to Garden Grove just to enjoy their food. Since the day they first opened, I had always trusted the quality of their jjamppong and Man Soo jjajangmyeon, and I was a loyal customer who visited often. Unfortunately, it is very disappointing to see how much the quality has changed over time. At some point, I started noticing a significant inconsistency in the taste. Later, I found out that Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays were days when the main chef was not in the kitchen, which seemed to explain why the food quality varied so much. However, even on days when the chef is present, the jjamppong no longer has the rich, deep, and flavorful broth that I remember. During my most recent visit, the jjamppong tasted as if the original broth had been diluted with extra water to increase the quantity rather than maintaining the original flavor and quality. The noodles were also disappointing -- either undercooked or over-softened, as if too much noodles had been cooked at once in insufficient water, resulting in a poor texture. There was a time when I would say, "This is a place worth driving to just for their jjamppong." Sadly, I can no longer recommend it the way I used to. As a longtime customer, this decline in taste and consistency is genuinely disappointing. Unless the restaurant returns its focus to the basics -- quality ingredients, proper preparation, and consistent cooking -- it will be very difficult to regain the reputation it once had. read more

We ordered the black bean noodles+fried pork with sweet and sour sauce, and fried pork dumplings. The black bean noodles were delicious, just wish they were a little hotter when they came out. A very good noodle shop!! I have been here multiple times and the food comes out hot every time. It is in a food court that's kept very clean as well as an adjoining grocery store. It is a fusion of Korean and Chinese food. They have everything from seafood noodle soups, sweet and sour pork, to fried dumplings (mandu). Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!! **** Beware **** I caught the lady red handed. After paying, something didn't seem right. So I calculated what I ordered myself and it was less than what I had paid. I asked the lady how much each item was and I showed my calculator and why my amount was different. She dug up my receipt and she said I tipped her 20% on the card machine nice try. I don't tip 20% for To Go. She claimed that I did it I was prompted on the machine and that she never touched it. BS, I called her bluff and I said I would buy something else to see if a tip option came up. But she instead quickly gave me my supposed tip back in cash. We got their black bean noodles and crispy sweet and sour pork combo and everything arrived beautifully packaged. I was honestly surprised that the pork was still crispy when it got to us, major points for that alone. The black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon) were really tasty. Since it was delivery, the noodles did clump a bit, but once I added the sauce and gave it a good mix with chopsticks, it came together perfectly. The flavor was rich and savory without being too salty, and the portion was very generous. The sweet and sour pork was a standout. The sauce was perfectly balanced--not too sweet, not too tangy and they included wood ear mushrooms and zucchini, which was unexpected but delicious. I really appreciated the extra texture and flavor it added to the dish. We ordered two combos for our family of three, and it was more than enough food. A hidden gem at a food court. A very good Chinese establishment with some Korean fusion. Their Jjajangmyeon and Japchae dishes are very good. But note that since they are noodle dishes, it needs to be eaten relatively quickly after it's made, or else the noodles will clump together. Their seafood stew dish is very good, and that dish can be taken home and eaten later since it does not quickly degrade. read more

Tried it for the first time. The jja jjang Hyun portion is big and can be shared amongst two people if you're not starving. The sauce is slightly on the sweet side but overall, it's good for a market food court. The kkang poong shrimp, however, I would not order. I took a bite of one shrimp and saw that it wasn't deveined. I tried another one and same thing. For $20, I think cleaning and prepping the shrimp before cooking it is a reasonable expectation. For this reason, I'd say any shrimp item here would be a no thank you in the future. read more

Only a 10 minute wait for everything. I called ahead of time for pick-up, so no wait really. The number listed on this page does work! The noodles were tender and slightly chewy. Not overcooked! The noodles are pre-cooked and packaged separately, so it still tastes fresh when you add it to the spicy seafood soup. Lots of seafood including squid, mussels, and clam. Veggies including cabbage, carrots and onion. The soup is on the spicier side, but like Sriracha level spicy. Highly recommend! Btw, it's a lot for one person, so this can be shared with 2 other people! The Tangsuyook (fried pork with sweet & sour sauce) tasted decent. Unfortunately, it wasn't crispy.
