I arrived for dinner around 5pm on a Friday and while the parking was getting full, the restaurant was empty which was great! The ajummas are really nice here and made sure we had everything we needed to dine in. The restaurant got more crowded and busy as we got closer to 6-7pm for dinner rush. Bossam - 5/5, really nice texture and thick cuts! Lots of umami and savory flavors. The pork belly was tender and they had all the sides for the wrap including the lightly picked Napa cabbage, garlic, jalapeños, kimchi radish, fermented shrimp, and ssamjang. Also more veggies including carrots and cucumber.

    Pork Cutlet and Galbi Tang

Came here craving a comforting bowl of galbi tang, and this place absolutely hit that spot! Even though I think they're mainly known for their pork broth soups, we went with the classic beef short rib soup, and we left very satisfied! The short ribs were huge and incredibly tender. I barely had to touch them before the meat was basically falling off the bone. The broth had a deep, comforting flavor without being overly salty (which is a blessing to enjoy the flavor). We also ordered the pork cutlet on the side, and honestly, the portion was massive for like a quick lunch. Crispy, filling, and definitely enough to take leftovers home! The banchan was simple but solid too, especially the big slices of cucumber and daikon, along with pieces of pancake on the side. The atmosphere is very down-to-earth with Korean signage and an artsy wall, no fancy décor or over-the-top presentation. Service is straightforward and efficient. You're not here to be pampered. You're here for hot, delicious comfort food done right.

Drove all the way from New Port to Garden Grove to eat here. Actually, flew from Colorado to OC. Early Sunday morning, only one server but had 3 tables already occupied. Must be good. Ambiance? Just mom and pop restaurant fell. Service was good. We got the Dried Pollack Soup (북어국) and Dumpling & Rice Cake Soup (떡만두국). Pollock soup was hearty, clean tasting and exceeded the expectation. Dumpling soup was very rich and filled with lot of dumplings. Side dishes were delicious too. We were so full, we didn't even bother ordering anything else. Will definitely come back to this location.

I recommend their beef bone broth soup and grilled atka mackerel, grilled squid, and seafood pancake. We will come back for their giant galbi stew and steamed dumplings to share with friends. Most portions are huge, best to dine family style to try everything. Service is fast and friendly. The shop is spacious and clean. They don't salt their soup but there is table salt for you to adjust.

I have never experienced anything like this in my 24 years of life. I ordered takeout through Uber Eats on June 30, and this is what I received: Jokbal with a horrifying twist. When I opened the foil wrapping, I found a fly with its eggs inside, right next to the meat. This is absolutely disgusting and a serious food safety concern. I couldn't eat any of the food after seeing this. No customer should ever have to experience something like this. I will be reporting this incident to the health department so it can be properly investigated.

Not a new review, just a more recent review to confirm that the food still hits and the ajoonmas are still friendly Ordered the OGs, gamjatang and bossam. Both slapped, left full as always. Feels like having a meal at your relatives house with a honey ambiance. If you haven't gone, go. It's also right next to the viral cream puff spot so two birds with one stone!

A nice & quaint Korean joint known for their hearty soups & stews! We got the gamjatang & buchujeon to share and it was plentyyyy for two people. The gamjatang was so warming and hearty and the chive pancake was deliciously crispy & green. Service was great. - can't wait to come back and try other things!

No frills, great tasting food kinda place. Was sat immediately and placed my order in 30 seconds. Top-notch lunch service. The waitress steered me to a soju that would better accompany my meal. Listen to the experienced waitresses; their pairings are like that of a trained sommelier. The pork belly and intestine soup was sumptuous and rich. It warmed my belly and soul. They provide you condiments to add so you can alter to your taste. Plenty of protein in the soup and nice banchan. Would def come back to explore more of the menu.

Jong Ro Shul Lung Tang in Garden Grove is the superhero of Korean soups that my taste buds didn't know they needed. I wandered in on a whim, expecting a quick slurp, but ended up in a full-on flavor fiesta that had me questioning all my life choices up to that point--like why haven't I been bathing in this bone broth daily? First off, their jongro bap (that's ox bone soup for the uninitiated with tripe and tendon) is like if a cow decided to retire in a spa and simmer for eternity. Milky, rich, and so deep in flavor it could solve world peace if politicians just took a sip. You get to play mad scientist at the table, dumping in salt, scallions, and kimchi like you're customizing your own potion. Mine turned out so epic, I swear it gave me superpowers--I floated out of there feeling invincible (or maybe that was just the food coma). We also demolished their seafood pancake, which was basically a crispy UFO packed with shrimp and squid that were probably line-dancing in the ocean hours before. It was huge, like it could feed a small village or one very hangry me. And the galbi tang? Those beef ribs were so tender, they fell off the bone faster than my dignity after one too many K-dramas. The banchan sides were on point-- that kimchi had more kick than a taekwondo master, and I loved every spicy second. The staff? Friendlier than a golden retriever at a fetch convention. They hooked us up with menu tips without making us feel like noobs, and the place is cozy like your grandma's kitchen--if grandma blasted subtle K-pop and served soup that could cure hangovers, heartbreak, and maybe even taxes. All this magic for under $25? It's a steal! If you're not racing to Jong Ro right now, you're souping wrong. Five stars? Make it ten--I'm officially a convert, and my next tattoo might just be a bowl of this stuff. Slurp responsibly, folks!

Fantastic service and great quality food. We got the seolangtang and it was perfectly brewed. Add in the salt and green onions on the table and it makes the perfect meal on a gloomy day. The side dishes were also fantastic! Loved the radish kimchi and the rice cakes. def would return again

I waited to review this restaurant because one of the first times I came, we had found a piece of plastic packaging on the meat that was cooked in the dish. The employees didn't charge us for that dish but also were not very apologetic. Also I didn't like that you have to pay for the coffee at the machine by the front entrance. I avoided eating here for awhile, but eventually ended up going back multiple times because my husband liked taking my son here for soup. All the other times we've been back, there's never been an issue again, and I even found a dish here that I love. Their samgyetang (chicken and ginseng soup) is perfect in the winter when I'm feeling under the weather. The first time I had it, they put a lot of whole garlic inside the chicken stuffing, which made me love this soup so much. In subsequent visits, it hasn't been quite as garlicky, but it's still good and always hits the spot. It's truly a comfort food type of soup - very healthy but not heavy. Other dishes we regularly get here are bossam and oxtail soup.

One of the OG spots for soondaeguk! The vibe is great and the food is seriously delicious. Service was just okay, but honestly the quality of the food is what matters most here. It's a bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it.

Omg my new favorite spot to get Korean soup! The intestine tofu soup is HUGE, i love intestine so this was great! The intestines were FATTT and the side dishes were really filling! The mandu was also really big as well. I would def come back to this over BCD

HUGE props to Ian for holding down the FOH fort solo on a slammed Friday night. He handled all the tables and the 8+ groups waiting with such grace and genuine care, showing just the right amount of urgency to indicate the patrons were the priority. He anticipated when the tables might need refills or extra napkins, never flinching when it seemed as though everyone wanted something broiled table side, all while juggling the scorching dishes the kitchen crew cranked out with ease. Ian very easily tipped this review into five star territory with his hard work! We ordered the chicken katsu and the bibimbap for the two of us, but really want to try the short ribs and cheese, and the bibimyun. When I received my food 45 minutes later, it was the complete wrong order. I received a rose tteokbokki with ssal tteok. I mentioned this to the kind lady behind the counter and she remade my food. However, when I got the freshly made dish, it was still the wrong order. She remade the dish with garaetteok but it was still rose, and not the grandma style. As it was approaching a whole hour since ordering, I just accepted the food, even though I tried to explain to her that what I received was the wrong order. She told me that what I got was the grandma tteokbokki, which the dish was not since it was creamy and had sausage and bacon. I would have asked for another remake, but she had posted a sign that said the restaurant closes at 1:30pm, and it was shortly after that time. I was hoping to have a good time here since the reviews are great, but this experience makes me apprehensive to give the place a try again.
