I have been eating at Peking Wok since I was a child, and I still love eating the food and visiting the establishment each week. Some of my favorite dishes are the walnut wasabi shrimp, cilantro chicken, hot braised shrimp, eggplant with garlic sauce, and the hot and sour soup. This was our first time at this restaurant and both me and my girlfriend thought it was great I grew up in Los Angeles my parents lived in Torrance so I know great Chinese food. The Orange tofu was the best tofu dish me my girlfriend has ever had. And the service was right on. We look forward to coming back many times. read more

We've dined here at least 15 times in last 3 years. This has been THE best Chinese restaurant in area ( actually there aren't many) but quality was sub-par on last visit. New Year's Eve our family dined here. The orange chicken was terrible, all dark meat and stringy with a strong taste. Our normally favorite dish, the walnut wasabi shrimp, was disappointing with very small shrimp. The lo mein was good as was the won ton soup. We will try again but if quality doesn't improve we will be driving a little further for Chinese in the future read more

What a great place! Especially for a group. I am the first one to poo poo Chinese, I prefer Japanese and Thai but to my brother's recommendation, my family of 10 decided to spend Easter dinner here. My parents were staying at Pala and the place we wanted to dine there, didn't allow kids and we had two about 10 yrs old. We were happily greeted at the door by the hostess and didn't require our whole party to be present before they took us to our private dining room to get comfortable. A piano man was playing familiar tunes all night which was very cool. We could hear him from our private room. They have a large round table with a large spinning lazy susan on top if it. Perfect for family style. We agreed on a bunch of different dishes and turned the lazy susan as we went and tried a bit of everything. The food was fantastic! Some of the things we ordered were: Sesame beef, breaded and fried but flavorful, both pork and chix fried rice (didn't try it but they loved the pork one), garlic chicken,full of flavor and a bit spicy, almond chicken, shrimp in lobster sauce, a bit slimy for me but most liked it. Brown and white rices, bowls of hot and sour soup and war wonton as well. Lots of wine, sake and tea. Just a really fun evening with great food and service. Would definitely give this place a try!!! BIG drop in food quality, freshness with the BIG hike in prices recently make this a pass. Why all the resent changes in the food, prices, serving and quality. We had a very poor meal here our last time out with very oily and greasy servings that we feel we over paid for casual Chinese food. The food smelled spoiled and took longer to come out with less servers than we have ever seen here. It was greasier than normal and the chicken, beef and sea food quality was different and less in each now $19.00-$25.00 entree. For these prices we would rather take the kids to lunch at West Steakhouse or Oink and Moo! We must say we will not be back and it is a shame as we use to stop in once a week. Bring the 20% and 30% off coupon as you will need it just to stabilize the high prices for low quality cooking now. We are being harsh in hopes the owner takes notice and gets this under control. I moved to Bonsall about a year ago and just recently tried Peking Wok. What really struck me was how formal the place was. I went for dinner on a week night wearing shorts,t shirt and sandals and i felt as if I needed at least a polo and dress slacks. Table cloths, formal utensil settings and a guy playing piano was the atmosphere.It was a little unexpected for what I typically think of a Chinese restaurant. The food was pretty good and service decent but I think the deal beaker for me was the $15-$22 entrees. I'm still paying off college loans and when I want some good Chinese food I've gotten some quality entrees or combo plates for around $10. Pretty good for Americanized Chinese food! I'm Chinese and have grown up eating Chinese food but strangely enough, I also enjoy eating Americanized versions like Panda Express. So far I've tried orange chicken, bao hu (not sure if that's the exact name but it's beef in a brown sauce), cilantro chicken, crispy beef, and house fried rice. They were all really good. The only negative I have about this place is the prices. They're kind of expensive but they do have way more choices than my beloved Panda Express. read more

My family has a life-long love afaire with Chinese food, so gave this place a try for a special occasion dinner. When we opened the menu the first thing that stood out were the outlandish prices that were realistically double (in some cases triple) typical prices for good Chinese food all over Southern California. But since we were already there, we thought we'd go ahead and give it a try. After ordering 4 different entrees, a variety of soups and appetizers, hoping for a fantastic meal, we can say with certainty that it was the worst Chinese Food we have had in over 50 years. I come here with my parents since it's a nice middle ground between NoCo and Temecula. The restaurant always looks clean and well kept. And the dishes are consistently good. This time, we met for lunch. There were two other parties for the 11:30 lunch crowd. Three dishes of orange chicken, kung pao chicken, and crispy beef w/ jasmine tea. All were very good and the KPChicken had some nice spice. Ask for the pickled cabbage that they hide back in the kitchen when they bring out the "chips and salsa". Very nice place. It is tucked away and quiet. Give it 5 stars because the service is absolutely great. The servers are willing to give suggestions and they will try pretty much anything the client is craving. In my case, they made every dish we ordered vegetarian. The orange "chicken" was a crispy tofu that was really unbelievable. The kung pao "chicken" was again tofu but cooked in a different way although just as great. Everything we've ordered has been delicious. I also like that it is just a little upscale, with a piano player. It just makes it a special meal. If I'm not in the mood, I can just order to go. Excellent Chinese food in a classy setting. The restaurant seats about 100. Tables and booths are available including a separate party room. A small bar area is partitioned off from the main room. There are two pub tables and a couple of stools at the bar itself. Atmosphere is very good despite the strip mallish location. Linen napkins and tablecloths. Most evenings a grand piano is providing background music (loud enough to be heard and yet unobtrusive). The food is king here. Crisp noodles and sauce are brought to your table soon after being seated. Try my personal favorite and a house specialty, the West Lake Beef soup as an starter. Good sized portions with excellent flavor are the rule. Each is served with your choice of white or fried rice. Prices range from $11 to $22. They are served family style and meant to be shared. The staff is very friendly and efficient. This is a bit pricey for Chinese but you will find it worthwhile. read more

I've found Chinese food in the San Diego metro area to be kind of hit or miss. It tends to be overly bland/too oily/full of bones and gristle/otherwise questionable. I think Peking Wok (mostly) does a really good job. As other reviewers have mentioned, prices *are* a bit higher than what you might expect for Chinese food ($12-28 range for entrees). But this isn't mall Chinese food. There are table linens and real plates and silverware and cloth napkins. Besides that, the portions are quite large and are easily enough for two meals. The fried wonton crisps were perfect and not too oily at all. The accompanying dish of duck sauce and hot mustard had too much of the former and not enough of the latter, but our server gladly brought out more for us. The wor wonton soup was quite good and chock full of veggies, although the chicken may have been a tad on the rubbery side (or so says my dining partner, I didn't have that issue at all). Our entrees were the crispy orange beef and Singapore noodles with chicken. I typically find crispy orange anything in Chinese restaurants to be way too cloyingly sweet, but Peking Wok's version was probably the best I've ever had. The Singapore noodles had the perfect amount of spicy curry flavor, but here's where I had the problem with the rubbery chicken. Fortune cookies *and* almond cookies were presented with our checks (love those almond cookies!). Service didn't miss a beat during our meal. I'm definitely a fan of this place. The food is excellent and my wife and I keep coming back for more. Our go to meal is Eggplant in brown sauce over steamed rice and Orange Chicken. Starters usually consisting of Egg Drop or Wor Wonton Soup. We never leave hungry and always have left overs to enjoy at home or at work. We like coming here for another choice of a romantic night out. This place has a rotating staff of pianist who play on a grand piano, filling the night with jazz, show tunes, soft rock tunes...The ambiance is welcoming and the staff is knowledgeable and professional. We have gone here after watching a movie and worn very casual clothes like shorts and a t-shirt to as dressy as slacks and coat. The prices are reasonable but not like pocket change reasonable. My husband and I went here for the first time on our 20-year wedding anniversary on a Tuesday. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary crispy noodle appetizer with hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce, nice decor, ambiance, live music played at a baby grand piano, aquarium, and excellent hospitality of our waitress and busboy. The food was great with large portions, and was moderately priced. We ordered the Singapore noodles with beef $15 which we loved! Man, if I could give this place a dozen stars I'd still want to give it more! ^_^ The food is out of this world. The meat is wonderful - no filler or cheap cuts here - and always perfectly seasoned and cooked. Never over-done or dry. The vegetables are always crisp-tender and exactly the kind you'd like to eat; again, no filler. They don't bulk out any dishes with cabbage or sprouts or onions. Nothing ever tastes stale and it obviously is made to order, never sitting out for a while before you get there. The servers are attentive and friendly and there's usually (at least at dinnertime) a pianist playing classical music. We've had takeout from here several times and the quality is always just as good as when you eat in the restaurant. I've never, ever had a bad meal here. If you're into shrimp, try the sweet and sour shrimp. Chicken more your thing? Order the cashew or moo goo chicken. Whatever you order, you're going to be happy. This place is phenomenal. read more

This place is really greatMe and the hubs went here before an event at Pala which was a way better choice than eating at the casino! Not only was the food much better but when we passed the food areas at Pala there was a long line at the buffet. Also, people couldn't find places to sit and eat at the other food courts. He real wanted Fallbrook Cafe'. We first had a cup of egg flour soup and then our main course was Crispy Orange Chicken (Spicy) & Chicken Chow Mien and fried rice got in my eye.
