One of my favorite places to eat breakfast! They have the best bacon and plenty of it. Also love their jalapeno cornbread and the beans had a Smokey taste. They also had good food for lunch. I stopped in on Saturday morning for breakfast since I didn't feel like cooking. I didn't know they had moved from the Homewood Diner and kept the name of the previous restaurant. My server immediately welcomed me and took my drink order. It was ha d to concentrate because I was looking at everyone's plate around me try to decide what to eat. I decided on one of the specials which consist of two sausages, two eggs, hash browns and a ginormous pancake. Everything was cooked to perfection. I love pancakes and this one didn't disappoint. It was fluffy inside and crisp on the edges. I'm glad I only ordered one because I couldn't finish it. The eggs were scrambled light with cheese. Most places will cook them til they look dry but these were perfect. The hash browns and sausage were a great pair to finish out this outstanding breakfast. We stopped here for breakfast after a soccer game. It's small, but there is plenty of parking. It is definitely a hole in the wall but if you know that going in, you will love it. There are bathrooms - they need updating but were clean. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the southwestern omelet with grits and a biscuit. It was so good and I ate every bite. Today, my team and I had a Thanksgiving luncheon that was catered by Pelham Diner. The prices for a catered lunch were reasonable and Pelham Diner delivered the food to us, which was convenient. The food items I liked the most were the dressing and the green beans. The squash casserole and sweet potato casserole looked good, I didn't sample those items. Several people from my team said they were good though. I did not care for the macaroni and cheese. We were told that Pelham Diner is taking orders for Thanksgiving up to 24 hours before Thanksgivings Day. This might be helpful for someone who does not want to cook next week. Personally, the food was not extraordinary to me, but it was good. I hear they have a nice breakfast so I may try them out for that in the future. read more

I was very disappointed in my food from here. The service was super friendly though. My meal consisted of fried fish ( not sure what kind), yams , cabbage and a jalapeño cornbread muffin. The entire meal lacked seasoning. According to my sister, I went on the wrong day and ordered the wrong thing! Good to know . I will likely give Pelham Diner another try because I really like the atmosphere and again , the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating to their guests. So glad we stopped in. Due to COVID, the restaurant is understaffed; so the wait was longer than anticipated. But we all need to learn to adjust. The food was served HOT and fresh. Quite plentiful! We tried this place randomly while we were looking for breakfast around the area. It isn't a huge restaurant, so there may be a bit of a wait, depending on when you go. We waited maybe 10 mins on a Saturday, which isn't bad at all. Our waitress was nice and provided great service. Even with it being a little busy, it didn't take too long to get our food. We were happy with our meals. There are some things that I probably wouldn't order again, but that is at no fault of the restaurant, just a personal preference. The pancakes are huge and I couldn't even finish 1. The restaurant is cozy and probably can't really accommodate large parties, but for a small family or couples, it is a good spot for breakfast. You can't get more down home Mamas southern cookin' than this place. All of the staff are absolutely the kindest people and it is definitely One of the best "meat and three" spots in the Greater Birmingham area. The food is always delicious and the portions are very generous. It is a cafeteria style service for lunch and pay at the counter. I haven't been for breakfast but heard it's great. I always make a point of coming here when I'm in the area, it is a little far out, but worth a little extra drive , especially if heading out to oak mountain. My favorites are the butter beans , turnips , and Mac and cheese. read more

First time here. Was looking for what my late husband used to call a "greasy spoon" because they have the best food. Was not disappointed. Had the western omelette with hash browns (which had an underlying taste that I couldn't recognize but that ketchup nicely disguised) and rye toast, which was like pumpernickel and huge. Took half of my breakfast home. Wish I'd gotten my server's name. On the receipt it says server 1 and she absolutely was. Decaf coffee tasted full-bodied and not watered down like in some places. This little diner came up on a search for a good breakfast place so we decided to try it out. Where have you been all my life? It was on the edge of a small strip mall but looked to be crowded. Pulled up to check on the wait time and thankfully, there wasn't one. Just a friendly warning that there would be a 20 minute wait to get the fresh to order food to the table. I was down for that. This was an ultimate little diner experience with the sweet and familiar service, great fresh coffee that keeps coming and a thorough breakfast menu that leaves you puzzled on what to order because everything sounds "right". Our server was soooooo nice and patient seeing that we were struggling with decisions -- she encouraged that we would not go wrong with anything and I believed her. I got the Western omelette and grits with biscuits with a side of bacon. My goodness!!! Everything was awesome. Couldn't be more perfect this morning for what we were looking for. My bacon bites with bites of omelette just made my taste buds happy and the sweet spirit of our lady that helped us got my day off to a great start. I will definitely be back--so much food that I had enough to have a small breakfast the next morning--she said it heats well. Then, because we were new, she brought us a cinnamon roll to try. Not sure where we were supposed to put it but sounded good to me. The capper was the price for the amount of food they brought to the table... as usual there were about 3 full meals + ordered along with coffee all for under $30...
