So disappointed! After hearing such good things about Pelican Bend We were so looking forward to it.. We tried to enjoy It was so hard .The staff were friendly enough, our waiter was nice. We asked for rolls to go with the butter on the table, they don't have any. You can get hushpuppies, They were a very dark brown almost black, very very dry and in our mind not edible. Each dish was disappointed, we had coconut shrimp, a solid 4, dry and over cooked , the sauce whitefish was a decent size but was also breaded but very thin. The sauté oyster where deeply breaded, couldn't find an oyster, Just a slight flavor of oyster sitting in a plate of oil with a hint of lemon. It was not edible I do not eat fried food due to stomach issues, this is why I ordered the Sauté oysters and not the fried oysters. The baked potato was slightly warm, and rubbery, the steak ff were over cooked. Most of the food was not eaten. Sorry to say we will never go back. Too many places on the island that are way better. Oh my goodness, my new favorite restaurant near Marco. ( actually on the Isle of Capri) In fairness, I placed a carry out order so my review is based solely on food, not service, so here goes... The lobby was packed when I arrived, I've been here before and actually expected this as it's a popular place. I placed my order and was told 25 minutes which was longer than expected but I took a seat and was prepared to wait. After reading through some emails on the iPhone, I hear my name called, my carry out is ready! This was a total of 12 minutes later...I said, " That was quick!", to which the hostess replied that they have to pad the estimated time to prevent angry customers. Okay then. Everything was still hot when I arrived home and I began my feast! The salad was half a head of lettuce, the wedge, with 2 sides of the house dressing, a creamy garlic. This dressing is full of flavor without being overpowering. Next, the entree. I ordered the lightly fried combination plate with fish and oysters. The white fish was light and tender, so good and the oysters were rich and delicious. The baked potato was a perfectly cooked potato wrapped in foil, soft and buttery. For $16.00 it's a bounty of food as I literally halved everything and will enjoy a second dinner tonight. Highly recommended. read more

If you're craving a fried seafood dinner in an authentic setting this is the place to be! We had a party of 11 and the outdoor seating was beautiful and the server (who happened to be the owner) was incredibly kind and patient with our children, making it a very family friendly experience. Some of the other pluses were: - HUGE portions - cheap appetizers - $10 pictures of beer! - dockside seating (watch the people unload their catch) - cheap kids meals - they're famous for their fried shrimp and fried oysters Some cons I noticed would be: - Hard to venture beyond their classic fried menu options. Be prepared for a fried appetizer, fried dinner, and key lime pie for desert. Not many baked/grilled options or fresh veggies (they do have salads but we didn't try then) - $15 for a basket of fried shrimp seems a bit expensive to me, but the portion was quite large on the other hand - I think the outdoor seating is the only choice worth making; the indoor seating seemed cramped and uninspiring In the end we had a great time. Having had a bad experience there for past two weeks. New bartender working outside is beyond rude to us. She decided she doesn't like us and makes sure to be non attentive as soon as we arrive. We love living in Naples but have found it challenging to find affordable decent food while dining out. Post the pandemic many establishments are struggling and notably the quality of the food has decreased. We stopped for dinner at the Pelican Bend last night. We ordered the following: orange roughy (their signature dish) and hush puppies, coconut shrimp and chowder. The hush puppies were burnt to a crisp an not edible. The coconut shrimp arrived as typical deep fried shrimp with a small center of sauce that tasted like applesauce with ground coconut. Not what you would expect and pretty bland. The waitress did her best and she was great. She said all of the hush puppies were over cooked so she took that off our bill. Then the wedge salad arrived. It is just a slice of iceberg with watery dressing. My husband had the chowder and said it was bland potato soup. The fish finally arrived. My husband ordered his grilled and it was cold and piled in a heap on the plate The rice was also supposed to be saffron but was a red tomato rice and it too was cold. He had lost his appetite at this point and sent it back. I had the roughy pan fried with lemon and butter and it was served warm. The bill was $54 minus the food sent back otherwise the bill would have been $75. That's alot for really bad meal. The waitress was great but the food is gross and would not return. read more

Pelican Bend makes a phenomenal whitefish. The breading is light and almost sweet, the fish tastes fresh. I think the whitefish is ruffie, but I am not sure and i don't care. Salad is wedge of lettuce with great homemade dressing, creamy garlic is very good. Shrimp comes in the same batter as the fish so is equally as amazing. The actual restaurant is pretty much a glorified shack with a tiki hut bar around back. It sits right on the water and has plastic cover a couple walls in the winter to limit the wind. Great place to have a beer while you wait for a table. I have been here quite a few times and sometimes have to wait, but not always. The food is fantastic and simple. They don't pretend to be something they are not. For having excellent food, great service, and keeping things simple, its easy to give pelican bend 4/5 stars. read more

This used to be a five star restaurant - now huge tourist trap. They used to brag the only fish they sold was Grouper. No more grouper. They now serve what they call "White Roughy" which is actually not roughy but is a farm raised catfish from the orient (called Basa ). It was genuinely unpleasant.I wanted to stand up and ring a bell and say "if we all talk normally this will go better".) Of course we got the wedge salad with the usual garlic dressing, and the sautéed fish. I would estimate the food preparation to be about the same as usual. The wedge was smaller than usual, but on occasion in the past it has come out that size. The waitress who had taken our order was not the runner who brought our drinks, and was not the runner who brought our food. In fact I never saw her again until she showed up with the bill. I would've liked to have told her that I needed more sour cream and butter. And that we would like to order another round of drinks. And what's with all these plastic cups anyway? Quite frankly though, the dining room was SO LOUD that I was happy to eat and leave. literally, people were yelling across the tables. Literally yelling to be heard. As I looked around I didn't see a single server that I recognized. I found that to be odd. I did recognize one of the male managers. It just wasn't the usual. The experience was harrowing. I LOVE this place; have been coming here ever since I moved to Naples (5 years now) and I always get the same thing: the sauteed fish; you CANNOT go wrong with this dish! To the person who said it wasn't Roughy....what are you, the "fish police"?! How can you tell? Anyway, don't listen to them, go - you won't be disappointed. Also, you HAVE to get the wedge salad....it's nothing fancy, just a wedge of iceberg with the creamy horseradish garlic dressing...one word: YUM. I would also recommend the sauteed shrimp if the fish isn't your thing. Skip the chowder though if you're from the East coast or Boston as it's not what you're used to. The service was mediocre - we felt rushed through ordering and had never been there before, and specials werent explained well. The food was not very good. My husband had a fried seafood platter which was just OK and I had sauteed scallops which were chewy and swimming in butter sauce. We are regular customers, and we could not be happier. I'm from New England and the Bend's chowder is as good or better than any I've had in New England. My family and I have been staying on Marco Island for a conference and found Pelican Bend after a friend recommended it. The restaurant is small and very unassuming, but the food and service are fantastic. It's always nice to find the place where locals eat and isn't flooded with tourists. All of our food we well prepared and the service was attentive without being pushy. The prices are consistent with other seafood restaurants in the area, but in my opinion, the quality is much better. We will certainly be back. read more

The "catch of the day" is no longer grouper since they said it is too expensive. They replaced it with a very mediocre, thin white fish that was tasteless (orange roughy). Orange roughy is also very high in mercury and should not be eaten. The quality of their food went WAY downhill over the past few years.
