    Fellow diners in outside seating/floating
    William L.

Pelican Bend is a pleasant waterside restaurant with both open air and screened-in seating, suitable both for a romantic table for two or a family where you might see a pelican pod partaking of pieces pitched by a preparer. On our visit, fish were being cleaned on the dock and the local bird population, including pelicans, had taken notice. I have never seen pelicans this close or been able to observe their feline-like scrapping over larger chunks of fish debris being tossed out. Pelicans' majestic flight and graceful paddling at rest are beloved by people but the creatures who end up scooped into that expanding face-pouch before being unceremoniously gulped would beg to differ. If fish are being cleaned and the fishmonger likes to toss the waste to the birds (some reportedly don't), you can watch it all happening ten feet away dockside. Overall I was struck by how similar to swans pelicans appear when floating at rest (but definitely keeping one eye on the proceedings at the cleaning table). South Florida seafoods, including shrimp, conch, calamari, oysters, and lobster comprise the majority of menu choices, with typical burger, chicken finger, and club sandwich options for non-pescatarians. Worth mentioning are the Prime Rib Sliders, "shaved prime rib, arugula, and garlic aioli served on pretzel rolls (subject to availability)" that sounded good but weren't tried (and we did not confirm availability on our visit, either). The burger meets expectation at the bar-food level: proper patty cooked correctly to order (as opposed to thin, well done only fast food fare), with a hearty bun and fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion toppings. If you're looking for decent burger with hyper-local atmosphere, take the turn off Collier Boulevard and venture back here to the water's edge. Seafood items start with the catch of the day, offered as tacos, a sandwich, or a platter. There's an intriguing "greuben" where fish is substituted for the meat. That sounds like it could be either be delicious or leave one pining for corned beef or pastrami. I decided instead on the fish of the day platter, grilled. which comes as three or four thin seasoned filets with sides. None were particularly remarkable, but overall it was a satisfying meal. No one tried the lobster salad options on this visit, but one of my dining party who frequents Pelican Bend advised that it was not fresh lobster and that the proportion of actual lobster meat was low. Service was little slow and our server spoke very quietly, not ideal where a third of the dining party wear hearing aids. To be fair we arrived as a split party with first arrivals ordering one set of appetizers before the rest of the group arrived. If you can be here when the fish is being tossed, it's a great option for kids. The pelicans (and to a lesser extent, the other sea birds) are fascinating and there are plenty of kid-friendly items on the menu alongside the adult fare. There's a full bar, as well.

Not sure, call to find out. I have been going there since 1986. I always go there early before the crowds. You won't be disappointed! Sautéed fish and peanut butter pie? Unbelievable!

Tough place to locate because there is very little signage. We were able to find it after driving around a bit. We found a nice parking spot in the rear of the hotel that it sits beside. Upon entering the area where the music stage is set up, we noticed a decent crowd with everyone sitting and enjoying the music. The bar is inside where everyone goes to get a drink. The service was good...a couple of bartenders ready to help, if needed. The crowd was mainly older adults....ages 40-65 would be my guess. The music was good....all the hits from the Eagles to Nirvana to James Taylor. As a first timer, it was kind of confusing where to order food. However, I did not notice food being served. I did notice a small restaurant set up in a small seperate building but there was no one eating in there. I guess the bartenders take the order and then deliver the food. Would I go back? Not sure...not much happening that would attract me Vibe: laid back....easy going Drink Price: very reasonable Parking: for me, it was great but I could see people having issues Dress: key west casual 4 stars

Loved the chips (both regular or sweet potatoes) that came with most of our orders. You need to order at the bar, get a number, and they bring out the food. They give you your drink orders at the bar, and the food came out hot without a long wait. It was a busy night and this restuarant handled it well. After we finished our meals, the staff was very quick in clearing the tables. The tables to watch the band were outside and is first come first serve. We came early since we were a large group. It's not a big space so most seats have great views of the band. The band was very good; they had a great saxophone player and the singer got the crowd engaged in some of the songs. Overall a very fun night and will definitely be back.

Tell them about the wines and the drink list and explain everything in detail and treated them like they were the king and queen. Karma got him when they quickly paid their check and left after hearing the prices. One would've been smarter to wait on me because I am a very good tipper! He then asked the couple next to me how their sliders were and then breezed right past me. Mine were cold, but nobody knew, he was so full of himself, I told him before I left how I was dismayed at how he treated me. I'm hoping this will be a lesson for him not to pre-judge anyone! I am a local businesswoman. word-of-mouth is important! Will I return? NO! I love trying all the local restaurants, this one I rate overpriced and bad bar manager. To the management staff, this man talks down to his servers and judges people by what they order. #truthfully
