But this is the first time this has happened and out of their control. Pelican Pete's has done so much to improve food and ambience in the last year I can't wait to go back. Cut them some slack. Wasn't expecting much for a spontaneous Thursday night and wondering if Pelican Pete would even be open late summer/ September 19. So glad we stopped by for dinner. Ryan, our server, ushered us away from the summer heat into a newly upgraded, shaded terrace oasis with live Eagles era music- my favorite band - how did he know ? The smooth , cold rum runner concoction paired perfectly with the jerk pineapchicken tacos and grilled chicken guacamole sandwich. A perfect sunset afterwards. Love this place. Returned to our boat and realized I forgot my jacket. Ryan was already searching for me, with it in hand. Definitely will go back and will request Ryan. read more

The food is average at best. The view is awesome the location is awesome the prices are way high you would expect a little bit better food and location with this much going for it. I would compare the food to lightly better than concession stand food at your local ballpark. The waitstaff and hostess are wonderful. Just need to work on the quality of that food. My family visited here after boating. The food was fairly bland and not super exciting, but the atmosphere and location was excellent. It was clean & cute and very accessible from the harbor. They also had a splash pad for kids. The drinks came out quickly and were delicious. Our server Ryan was extremely helpful and very sweet. It is been about 10 years since we have visited Pelican Pete's. At that time, it was not so great. A dockmate made a compelling argument to try them again today and I'm glad we listened. This time was quite different; the courtesy boat slips, friendly wait staff and hostess and the fast turnaround to get you in and out we're all above board. The food was very tasty we had the pimento cheese and chips I had Mahi tacos, my wife had the Tropical chicken salad. It was all fresh and prompt to the table. At the end of the meal, we learned that they do not accept Amex. What?? That was all I had in my pocket. Ryan are very good waiter called over a manager whose name was Brian. I was not sure what to expect next but he simply told me to call him with another credit card later in the day, which I did. Above and beyond great service. We will be back! We live on Lake Lanier and this has been one of the places we liked to go by boat. They have an outside seating. When we first started going there, they were pet friendly. We have a Tiny Toy poodle and would even bring a bowl of water if we asked. We went there recently on Sunday afternoon and they were very busy. There was a 45 minute wait for a table and a new sign that said 'No Pets Allowed.' We asked if we could get take out, thinking we would just eat at the picnic tables, the answer was no, they were to busy. Well we waited for our table. I place our order and requested it be put in take out boxes. I wanted the crab cakes and they were out of them. I ordered a drink while I was waiting, a tequlia sunrise. It did not taste like any Tequlia Sunrise I had every had. All in all was very disappointed with last visit. Probably will not be going back since we cannot take our poodle, which we always take with us on the boat. read more

Ate here for dinner last Saturday. We actually rented a boat earlier in the day and were told what times to avoid. We didn't listen. :) They were pretty busy at 5:30pm and we waited about 45 minutes for a table. The wait didn't seem that long because there is stuff to do while you wait. The food was average, the service was good but the drinks were excellent. Great bar area and the live band made the atmosphere really upbeat. Can't beat the view of the lake. This place is great! I had dinner here with a few friends last night. I gotta say the atmosphere is awesome!! It's a big tiki hut that's literally floating on the water! Takes "lakeside" dining to another level. There's even a water fountain area for kids to play in. It seems we arrived just as they were starting to get really busy. My friends and I decided to just hang out for a bit and try their sweet selection of craft beers and enjoy the view. After a couple of rounds, we worked up an appetite and decided to order some food. By this point, every table was full of people, the live entertainment was jamming, kids were playing in the water fountain, and the staff were hustling! They were very busy, but the staff remained very nice and made sure we had all we needed. All of the tables around us seemed to be having just as good of a time as we were. Our food came out pretty quickly, and boy was it good! We each ordered different entrees, and everyone enjoyed what they chose. I had the coconut shrimp, which was served with a sweet chili sauce. It was delicious!! Highly recommend. After finishing our food, we stuck around a little longer just to continue to enjoy the live entertainment and check out the boats passing by. We didn't want to leave!! Everyone should definitely check this place out!! read more

I am sad to see all the bad reviews....my friend and I had a great experience! (but I am not sure about any other place around here or on the lake) Lots of parking, we pulled up on the jet skis, and it was nice that we could eat in out suits. Our waitress was fun and friendly, and she was attentive when we needed it. The drinks were strong...just what we wanted on a hot day, and the fact they are served in a bucket was fun :) My friend got the buffalo chicken sandi, I think it was just the typical buffalo nothing too special. My Philly Cheesesteak and salad were really good, and I would order it again. I look forward to enjoying more "buckets" next time I'm there! read more

It's not that great. Limited menu. Best thing on there is the fish tacos. Stick with the bar. Came today and was on a "30minute" wait at #21 in line. Positives: drinks are great, great view, spray ground for the kiddos & live music. Loved that. Cons: food was so so. My husband ordered a burger and you can't even request how you want it cooked. For a $13 burger you should be able to get it the way you want it! The fish and chips were horrible. Definitely freezer burned and dried out. However, they were nice and took it off our bill. Really bad gas fumes as people were gassing up their boats. I had a really bad headache by the time we left. The place is super cute and could so much more. I like this place! I'm glad I tried this place before reading the reviews. Calling the food mediocre is hardly fair. It's a floating bar in the middle of Lanier. What do you expect? Filet mignon and stone crabs? The food is fresh, drinks are tasty (love the lava float) and there's live music to boot. I love being able to step off my boat in my flip flops and bathing suit and get a hearty meal. The portions are abundant too. If you have realistic expectations, you'll definitely enjoy it. Bring your patience because there is usually a wait. The only thing I would change is the ability to get put on the waitlist without having to be present. The restaurant uses a waitlist app but only to check your place in line. They really should change that. I'd rather spend my afternoon on the lake - not waiting in line for a table. read more

That something is their "Maine Lobster Roll for $20.00! Made with imitation crabmeat, celery & mayo. I was really looking forward to a "real" Maine Lobster Roll as I used to live in Connecticut and have great memories of eating them with friends while drinking a cold beer at the beach. Very disappointing and disturbing that the manager came out and point blank lied, then changed his story saying is was 1/4 real lobster and 3/4 imitation. Pete's has worst food on the lake. But I will say thank god the don't allow pets anymore. The dogs are a huge PIA and make it difficult to move around due to the leashes water bowls and rude ass owners. Leave ur damn pets at home. It's a restaurant and bar for Pete's sake not a dog park. Pet owners are like smokers. Inconsiderate to the smell and dog hair all over the place. It's like second hand smoke. I'd like to give them a four but they're just not there yet. Its a nice place with a fun atmosphere, but being one of a small bunch of restaurants gives some of the employees an attitude of "where else you going to go" and them just not giving much of a crap. It makes it highly disappointing because their food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. They have a little fountain area for the kids which is awesome on those super hot days. It takes awhile to get drinks and waited on in the beginning, but the food comes out pretty quick. We've had a wait the last three times ranging from 15 minutes to an hour and a half. It would be a lot nice if you could order to go and get back on your boat. If your looking for a good server ask fro Junelle and the manager Megan is so sweet and will make sure you have the experience you deserve. read more

We've eaten at Pelican Pete's several times. The food quality and value continue to decline. Views are great, ideal spot but our meal on the eve of 5/29 was real bad. We have read previous reviews on Pelican Petes and were reluctant to try this lakeside eatery again. However, pelican petes is under new management and it shows. We arrived at noon for lunch on Labor Day weekend. We we're promptly greeted by the hostess Theresa who seated us quickly. We had a great view of the lake. Our waitress Erin arrived shortly thereafter. We received our drink orders in a timely manner. Our appetizer arrived hot and crispy. Our food arrived within 15 minutes of order placement. I had the chicken salad which was tasty and fresh. My husband had the philly steak sandwich and fries...the fries were hot and crispy and the sandwich was yummy. My husband substituted jalapeños for the peppers without difficulty. Erin refilled our drinks without us asking. She is a good and attentive server and is knowledgeable about the menu. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely return in the future. Still love the atmosphere, food and service. My only critique is the iced tea....they have the gross fountain tea...come on guys , this is Georgia, start brewing food tea! read more

We were so disappointed! We read the reviews and thought it would be a great place to try. The service was terrible. Our server didn't bring us silverware, napkins, or plates to eat our messy nachos. The chips were so soaked in cheese sauce they were soggy. My husband and daughter had salads. They were given cheap plastic forks that wouldn't pierce the lettuce. I had a philly cheesesteak and the meat was burnt and the peppers were soggy. We live in Florida and vacation here. We will never eat here again! The only positive thing I can say about this place is the view is beautiful. Also, they don't have anything posted about masks so not 1 patron except us wore them. read more

Took the family here recently. We went by boat. Food was pretty good. The wait staff was attentive. The restaurant is open air so make sure you go on a nice day? There was a long wait time to get a table so we ordered drinks and sat on the boat and did some people watching while waiting for the table. Upon arriving at the restaurant (August 29th), we saw a manager berating an employee and embarrassing the employee in front of customers. As other patrons were approaching the hostess station, the manager grabbed the Ipad out of the employees hands and started talking over the employee. The employee was visibly upset by what had happened. If the manager was having issue with the employee it should have been dealt with away from customers not at the hostess stand where first impressions are so important. read more

We didn't get a chance to eat because we were told there was an hour wait when there were at least 20 seats available. The worst hostess in the world informed us that they save tables for parties of 4, but a party of two ready to eat will need to wait an hour or so. What kind of seating system is this??? So, I can't comment on the food because they were hoping a party of four would show. I guess our party of two revenue is not needed. It's probably a good thing because the food coming out looked like a microwave did all the work. Thanks for saving us from an awful meal. read more

Sad that the management at this place could care less about the quality of food or service, and that the prices are so high for a completely substandard experience. We didn't wait long for a table, but the hostess was completely unpleasant. Took almost an hour to get our very sad fish tacos and turkey club. There's clearly no rush to turn tables so that 1) people can get back to the lake and 2) more people can get served.
