The great service and friendly attention from Laurel is on an upper level. We wanted that smoky flavor of the wings paired with either Sweet Heat or Honey Garlic for a fine chewy bite. But first we start with a bountiful Wedge Salad to offset the upcoming meaty wings. I do prefer the Lemon Pepper or even the Old Bay dry rubs for a satisfying plumpy wing. One other order we really liked is the Dad's Fish-n-Chips with crispy Tots. This plate is a reminder of pub fish in Liverpool. An Ice cold draft Beer does wonders to the palate and "to go" boxes indicated we could not do any more extras. A great Wings Monday special experience at Friends for sure. read more

Thursday night is Trivia night at Friend's. Crowded and hard to find a parking spot in this small strip center. Most of the trivia folks were at the bar so we were able to get a table. Service was quick and our order was served relatively quick base on the crowd size. We have eaten here a number of times - nerves disappointed. The onion rings are a favorite, always crisp and not greasy. Everything we have tried on the menu has been good. No real food negatives to report. I aways have a hard time reviewing "Ambiance" - it's a bar - with great food that is two or three steps ahead of typical bar food. Visited Friends (with friends) for Trivia night & ended up noshing on some typical bar food. I'd been here before during the summer & enjoyed their patio. On my most recent visit, the joint was hopping with a lively bar scene & tables full of competitive but friendly trivia players & diners. Buffalo Wings were good but their hottest sauce wasn't very hot at all. I appreciated that I could choose between the flats or the drumettes ( flats for an up charge ) . Nachos were ok too but don't expect a huge plate of them. They have specials during the week that play to the budget conscious. You won't break the bank here even on drinks. Great people, great service...food is okay. It is a great place to watch games. The drinks and food are very overpriced. Are you kidding me on these prices? At a dive bar? PBR = $5. Well drinks $8+, Burgers start at $14. To compare, this is same higher than most any other place with bar or grill in the name in Dawsonville, and those places are nicer with much better food. Looking for a late night light snack we popped in to Friends. We were greeted and seated promptly. John Andrew was our server and was delightful. He was patient, polite, and prompt. I. LOVE. FRIENDS. My husband I live in Atlanta and only get to visit Friends when we go see my mom. If we're going to Dawsonville , we're going to Friends and that's all there is to it. Ask for Brittany if you can, she's a dream and the best and most caring server. The fish and chips are my favorite, and their chicken tenders are amazing. We had excellent service at this local watering hole. We sat at the bar where everyone was very friendly, both the locals and the bartender who I think is also the General Manager! The bar has a bar bites menu that is a great deal! Sitting at the bar, they have 3 TVs of sports playing. They have several draft beers - about 1/3 of them are craft drafts, Scofflaw, Allagash, etc. We ordered 4 orders of the bar bites wings and fries! Their fries are heavily breaded and tasty. They have great ranch dressing. I highly recommend. We ordered their traditional wings with sweet heat sauce, traditional wings with ray ray sauce (a garlic and blue cheese chunky mixture), and smoked wings with signature house sauce. We liked them in that order. We got 2 plates of the sweet heat. We ate every bit. The wings run on the smaller side so order more than you think. They have a great flavor and we're too dry or anything. We don't mind smaller wings. We will definitely be back when we're in the area. We don't have kids but it's notable they have a little arcade room and lots of booths, so I think it's very family friendly! read more

Was passing by on a long a road trip and decided to stop here for a quick bite to eat. Let me tell you, it was the greatest experience. I walked in and was immediately hit with the funnest and liveliest ambience that I have ever felt in a restaurant. I looked around and did not see a single person without a smile across their face (it was a pretty busy night too). I asked my waiter for a glass of water and then went to the bathroom to wash my hands. As I approached the bathroom it felt like everyone in the place was watching me, especially the workers, but I had been driving so long I paid no mind to it. I opened the men's room door and the fun and lively ambience that I talked about before vanished into thin air. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the bathroom was that the floor seemed to be covered by a light fog. I looked up at the ceiling near the corner of the bathroom to see some sort of black sludge drooping from a ceiling tile. I ignored these quirks and turned on the sink, when the water began to run I heard a faint voice coming from what sounded like every direction at once. I took a quick peek under the stalls, no one there. When I walked back over to the sink, I looked up into the mirror and saw my grandpa who has been dead for about 6 years looking back at me. At first I was shocked but then he spoke to me. He said things that I will hold to myself and not repeat on this review but his words stuck with me and repeat in my head every night before I go to bed for the past 3 weeks. I walked out of the bathroom back into the lively bar and dining area and saw my glass of water was waiting for me. A man who looked like the owner of the establishment kept looking over at me like he knew what had happened in the bathroom. I said nothing to him and he said nothing to me, but it felt like our exchanging of glances was all it took for us to perfectly understand each other in the sense that something supernatural and otherworldly had happened in the Friends Dawson Grill bathroom. Peach Vidalia Wings 1. They have great ranch. Some places have eh ranch, or ok ranch. Their ranch is really really good. Decent amount of dill, good consistency, overall great ranch. 2. The Peach Vidalia flavor for the wings is aaaah-mazing. A tiny bit spicy, sweet and savory. I could eat them once a week. 3. Pimento and cheese wontons. I can't eat them because of food intolerances, but other members of my family order them every single time because they are so good. The food is well priced. The bartenders are super nice, and they appear to have a decent amount of regulars. The restaurant is casual enough to go grab a drink and watch a game, bring your kids with you after church, or take a group out for wings. The only thing I would change is more meatier wings. Sharon, the Gm does a good job; but that's the only redeeming quality of this place. Clearly Bar first, restaurant (maybe?) second. The regulars are there everyday, mostly just gross old dudes there to hit on young girls, some underage. Not that they or the owners care. I recently came to Friends while on a trip to the North Georgia Premium Outlets and I will say that it was fine. I ordered the Tuesday special, which was a Cheeseburger Basket (cheeseburger and fries in a basket), an order of Pimento Cheese wontons, and a VooDoo bucket. The Pimento Cheese wontons came out as the appetizer and they were delicious! The pimento cheese was warm and gooey, the wonton golden brown and crisp, and the cabbage and sweet/spicy sauce that was served with them paired really well. The cheeseburger was overcooked (they advertise medium well cook but this thing was well-well-well done), but for $5 dollars it wasn't bad. The beef patty was sizable (even after being cooked for so long) and was nicely seasoned, the cheese was good and the toppings were fresh and crisp. The fries were delicious as well. The VooDoo bucket was super strong and delicious. You get your money's worth in liquor with that drink! The service was exceptional and I wouldn't hesitate to return just for that. I am so happy we found Friends and that it's close by because there's a 100% chance we will be back. The service is friendly as can be and the vibes are laid back and hometown-y. I moved to Dawsonville recently and wanted to try out a local place to meet some new people and try some of the local fair. This place did not deliver. The food was extremely over priced for no reason at all. I had the wings that were mediocre at best very small. Ya, it's mainly a bar first, restaurant second. The menu is limited and pricy for what you get. Example three large chicken fingers covered in a tasteless hot sauce with fries for $11.00. The chicken sandwich is not a breast of chicken but, chicken fingers in a bun. We come back every six months just to see if the menu has changed. read more
