In an area of Flushing that many of us were not familiar with, but with the handy dandy yelp app in hand a group of five elites set out to complete a night with some good eats. As we individually searched for dinner options before we parted ways, a few of us came across Pelicana Chicken simultaneously. With some great reviews and the need to keep hunger at bay, it was unanimous that this was the choice for the night. As a group of five first timers, we knew chicken was on the menu (obviously) but we needed time to browse the menu. Finally it was decided that four of us will share some fried chicken. While the 5th ordered an original Chicken Burger w/ Fries ($13) and her fries were really good. For the four, we went with 2 whole fried chickens, 1 original plain ($21) and the other 1 crispy: 1/2 plain and 1/2 w/ sweet & spicy sauce ($24). The additional sauces (8) we had on the side. The chicken was served fresh in pieces and fried to perfection. We all enjoyed sampling all the sauces. The Pelicana signature sauces come in levels 1-3 of heat. I personally didn't experience any of the heat I was hoping for but a couple of my table mates did. All sauces were good but lacked heat, they did however pack flavor. I enjoyed the chicken with and without sauces and probably would vote for the crispy as my first choice. The staff was great and patient with us. Our waiter Minjae was helpful with our never ending questions and very accommodating with all of our requests. We all enjoyed the food, and since Pelicana Chicken was one of my bookmarks (not this location) I was happy that I finally had the experience. As first timers there was a misunderstanding on our part with how the sauces are ordered. However, John took care of it without hesitation and made good night even better. I will definitely step into PC again for some fresh well prepared Korean fried chicken, and with other locations, it will be easier to accommodate a fried chicken craving. After trying many Korean fried chicken joints, my family and I can def say that the chicken here is one of the best. The chicken isn't overwhelmed in batter (so that there's flour instead of meat) and their pelicana sauce brings the flavor up to a new level. I really wanted to try the boneless chicken since every other place usually serves wings and drumsticks - it was SO good highly recommend. The chicken was tender and both the garlic and pelicana sauce (recommend level 1 spice for those that want a little kick but can't take spicy) accompanied the skin really well so that it wasn't drowning the whole piece (for the sauce, i liked pelicana over garlic ). The onion rings and calamari were pretty average but the mozzarella stick and fries were really good. Plenty of seating (Sunday 2pm-4) and nice customer service though the wait time for the food was a little long. Definitely more of a sweet than spicy sauce - I would probably go for something spicier next time! Also, the sauce comes in a bowl - more than enough sauce for your food. The combos are $40 for dine-in. They're a good choice for first timers because it comes with plenty of sides. I shared the whole chicken combo with a friend and it was more than enough. We came here on a Sunday night around 11pm, and it was actually fairly busy. Around 12, more than half the tables were taken. I don't usually get Korean fried chicken because I live in Phoenix so I'm not sure how it compares to others, but Pelicana gets a four star because of the following: 1. The gentleman that served us was super friendly. He was honest about his recommendations for us and even veered us away from making not good decisions (ex: spicy crispy + level 3 spicy sauce). We stayed until the end, and the cook and him came out for a smoke as we were standing outside. They were chit chatted and joked with us. 2. The place itself was nice and spacious. We actually went to the location on Bell Blvd first, but we ended up this location because the other one was closing earlier. 3. The chicken does take a bit to come out, but when it comes out, it's pipping hot!It's not greasy and super crunchy. Even when it has cooled down, it still has a good crunch. Ps: you can always get the sauce on the side, and I really liked the ability to choose how much sauce i wanted. I tried the honey garlic and pelicana level 1 and level 3. Level 3 is spicy!! Beware! This is one of my favorites from the Pelicana brand. As this location is nearest my office, we all have been through the menu several times. In person, service is excellent and the wait staff has always been very attentive to their patrons. Dining in is a fun experience and worth it when with a group ready for Soju. Pelicana's first location in the US remains the best Pelicana I've tried so far. I still think their fried chicken ranks high and is at a caliber that puts them in the higher echelon of KFC in the borough. While I can't vouch for every single Pelicana location, I have to give it up to this one for serving high quality chicken during my every visit. Just a few blocks away from the LIRR stop, this spot is on one of the most quiet streets in Flushing KTown. It is also fairly small, with just enough seats for a small crowd and a layout that favors two folks at a time. The decor is interesting, with random light fixtures along their faux brick wall, and plenty of KPop playing in the background. Fried chicken is obviously what they do best here. Everything else is completely secondary. I appreciate the crunch of the skin, which might be attributed to their "daily oil change" and with the right sauce, every bite can be amazing. I appreciate the "cheese snow" and their soy garlic is tasty. Add some fries (especially the shoe string), since they serve as a great complement to the chicken and are perfect with the sauces. I also appreciate their other Korean dishes as well: kimchi fried rice, tteokboki, budae jigae, and their uber special budae pell rice bbokki is one of a kind. I even kind of like their fried chicken burgers and their strangely overly fried crispy mandoo dumplings. I am not a fan of their fondue or raclette personally, but I know it's a popular option. If there are any improvements to be made, it's the service. Sometimes there are snafus and I think this can be a detriment for first timers. I think the staff lately has been good, so I think they've got it done. Another thing is, none of this comes cheap. The new hostess/waitress/counter person needs some training on customer service. I have both dined in and ordered here several times over the past 3 years, and really like their soy garlic wings. I have also had their truffle fries quite a few times. Tonight I ordered via Caviar/DoorDash and picked up my order of soy garlic wings and truffle fries there. As soon as I had the first French fry, I immediately realized that it was plain fries (which I don't like). I called the restaurant to tell them that I got the wrong fries, the first thing that came out of the girl who answered the call was "you are mistaken, the truffle Fries look just like the regular fries. Many people make this mistake". First of all, I've been going to this place longer than she's been working there, and KNOW what truffle fries look and taste like. Second, it is extremely poor service when she immediately told a customer that they were wrong without even checking with the kitchen staff. I'm pretty sure she didn't cook and pack the fries, so how the hell would she know if the kitchen made a mistake or not; kitchens making mistakes isn't something that is unheard of. On top of that, she said she couldn't credit me the difference because it is not directly ordered from the store, which at this point wonder if it is just her who doesn't know how to do her job. I'd call it a hidden pearl in the Korean neighborhood on the east side of Flushing. Actually I ate there several times; but this is the first time I write them a review. Not like other chicken restaurants, they only cook the chicken after you placing the order. The waiting time usually is 20 min or longer, but I think it's acceptable. My half chicken order contains 7 slices similar in size. The outside of chicken is very crispy, while the inside is still juice which I enjoy so much. They may have experienced some change for the management, as I found they don't supply the free Korean side dishes with the whole/half chicken order anymore. My parents are old school and doesn't know how to use seamless, Uber eats etc so when they want chicken they call and place an order. The chicken is always too sweet for me (except for the original). I really dislike sweet meat; I believe in keeping the sugar or honey for dessert. I had the Seafood Tomato Pasta ($16) which comes with squid, mussels, and some shrimp. The serving is huge! I only ate half here and I couldn't even finish the other half for dinner! This pasta was mildly spiced and just perfect; so saucy. Its 1 of the best pasta dishes I've ever had! It reminded me of the squid ink tagliarini I had from Suprema Provisions. The only difference is that Suprema's pasta had squid ink, crabmeat, was slightly more spicy, less saucy, & more expensive (Pelicana: $16 VS. Suprema: $22) Next time I come, I'll pass on the chicken and just get this pasta dish & maybe try some other dishes. The crispy wings with daredevil sauce was good even though the sauce was sweet. The menu here is pretty standard Korean chicken fare - various flavors, Korean snacks like spicy rice cakes and of course beer. We got boneless BBQ wings (decent but nothing to write home about), honey garlic wings (excellently sweet and tangy) as well as their spicy budae rice cake stew (sweet and spicy). Food was crispy, hot and tasted exactly how you'd want it to. It's not health food for sure. Service here was just so-so (kind of slow) but I can chalk that up to us coming off peak on a weekend. We were driving around and was looking for a place that is still opened during this outbreak. We stopped by this place and ordered 8 pieces wings for $12 plus tax. While there were many different flavors, we settled on the honey garlic to go. We did enjoy it quite a lot and it retained that nice crunchy sound even though it look us about 15 mins to get back and rip open the box. The meat under the skin was fried nicely. It had good flavors while the meat stayed juice. My wife went with their half chicken with garlic sauces. It tasted pretty good too. Nice garlic flavor but not overpowering. One thing I noticed after we got the bill, if you order any sauces on the side, it's $2.00 each. Since the chicken already have good flavors, I don't really think sauces are necessary and definitely not worth $2.00. Good beers selection too. Since I am in a Korean restaurant, I ordered a couple of Korean beer. Not the best beers I've ever had but they weren't bad. My wife loved the ice mango beer she ordered. They would have earned 5 stars from me if they gave us above average service. Good thing they give you complementary pickled radishes to help cleanse your palate. I also had their fries which was decent. The food comes out from the kitchen very slowly so be prepared to wait. So I really do love this place. The chicken is amazing I always get the honey garlic sauce and trust me it's worth the extra 2dollars. Who: Pelicana serving Korean fried chicken unlike any other fried chicken spot I've ever been too. What : Korean fried chicken is double fried so it has the perfect crisp, you even have the option to get crispy which I guess is considered to be extra crisp. The sauces are amazing too, I like all of them. Also I tried their yellow snowing cheese calamari it was SCRUMPTIOUS, my friend rated it a 9.8/10 and he's a calamari connoisseur. Where: Haven't been to the other location but this seems to have the highest rating so I set recommend this location. Why: honestly you haven't truly lived until you tasted this chicken. Deep into Flushing where it's almost Long Island, this place is far. However if you're in the area it's worth trying. Me and some other yelowrs ordered 2 whole chickens: regular and crispy. We had all the sauces on the side so we could try each one and on half of the crispy chicken pieces we ordered sweet and sour sauce to be poured on top while the rest remained plain. The sauce are numbered 1-3 in heat, but none of us were unable to handle heat 3. They were actually mostly sweet. The chicken is fried really well. It didn't have a heavily oily residue and you could definitely feel and hear the crunch. It's not flavored well but the sauces help. The decor of the place doesn't make sense either. This place shines because of its staff. They are super friendly and helpful. We also ordered drinks which according to my table mates could have been stronger. Either way we finished all the chicken except two pieces. I preferred the regular over the crispy chicken but still ate lots of crispy. Dropped in with a couple of friends after a night out around 12am. The place wasn't as packed as we thought it'd be but although the website says the location closes at 2am, they actually close their kitchen about 90 min prior if it's a slow night. Friends and I sat down for a party for 4 and the staff catered to us immediately. We were able to get our orders in fairly quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food. As usual, we got the party sized platter of chicken with a couple of sides because if you're going to come to a chicken joint, what better to get than chicken? ;) I actually also wanted a beer float but when I tried to put in my order at the counter, I was informed that the only alcohol choices they had left were anything in a bottle. I guess they also stop making drinks at a certain time. Still one of the best korean chicken places around! If you want to shoot your shot at trying anything else but bottled beer, definitely come early. Fried chicken + beer is always a good way to celebrate finishing an exam. This was the best fried chicken I've ever had. Some people prefer theirs lightly coated in sauce. I like mine generously bathed in it, so I was happily surprised. You can choose to have it on the side if you're not like me. The signature sauce had a nice kick to it, but it was still nice and sweet. We ordered 2 whole boneless chickens for a table of three (definitely only need 1). My friends and I came here to try out chicken for lunch. The fries are add with ketchup and a sweet sauce. It taste sweet with the sauce. We have been eating it non-stop. The soy chicken wings taste very sweet. The chicken is crispy and well-cooked. We enjoy eating them with radish. Is a good choice to eat with friends.
