If you dined at a Korean Organic Chicken spot you've been to them all. Not to take away from the peculiar decor but a lot was going on. Nothing seemed to flow but who cares when organic chicken is presented in such a fashion that makes it non greasy and hella delicious. The bathroom was cool. The music made me buss a quick two step in my seat while our waiter, Jay was nice enough to recommend and explain certain items on the menu. The Mango Beer was a hit. Reminded me of a slushy mixed with Kola Champagne soda, absolutely out of this world. If I had to come back for only that I would. They offer a variety of beers. Next I'll try the Grapefruit beer. I ordered the yellow snowing whole chicken (the best one) and my mom didn't want fries to avoid more unnecessary fattening foods lol (but i would have ordered the truffle fries). After my first visit to Pelicana Chicken for a Yelp Elite Event back in February this year, the chicken left a deep impression with me. Since then, I came back the second time with my friends and the third time this past Thanksgiving weekend, thanks to Ron L.! There is no such thing as too much good fried chicken in my book! Organic chicken and daily change of oil according to their wonderful boss lady, Julie and her staff. They are a proud first and popular fried chicken chain in South Korea before KyoChon or BonChon but finally made its way to the U.S. I have sampled many of their high quality chicken so it would be too hard for me to name it all, so I'll just tell you my favorites. My favorite one has to be the Spicy Soy Garlic Wings/Boneless Wings. The meat is so tender and juicy. After a bite, I thought it had great flavors of savory and the right amount of seasoning but not spicy. Wait for it... then the spicy kick sneaks up on you! Woo...that blew me away! Another favorite of mine is their Original Fried Chicken. At sight, it looks like a regular fried chicken drumstick from Popeyes or KFC. Golden brown colored and super crispy texture. I loved the loud crunches I make. The meat was perfectly cooked and simply flavorful. Mango Beer, oh my goodness! I absolutely love the sweet mango-flavored icy foam top. It mixed so well with beer! Gotta say this place disappointed me a bit, I came here because my friend told me this was a popular Korean fried chicken chain. It was even endorsed by a famous Korean drama where the main character ordered fried chicken from this place in Korea. The first time I came by it was too crowded to get seats so this was actually the second try. They don't take reservations so you'll just have to go there to check if you can get seated. My table got an order of boneless chicken, half marinated and half original, sweet potato fries plus an order of snowing cheese wings (8 pieces). The marinated boneless chicken looked like general tso chicken, and sort of taste like it as well. Snowing cheese wings kind of reminds me of popcorn and cheetos, not exactly the kind of flavor I'd be looking for in fried chicken. The food was just ok overall, service was great, I would've given 2 stars if it wasn't for the service. We were lucky that we got an extra free side of sweet potato fries on the house, those are pretty good, very crunchy. Checking in on Yelp also gets you a small side of corn salad. I'd recommend going to debasaki (gyoza wings) or Mad For Chicken if you are really looking to have great wings, this place... not so much. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it. This Korean fried chicken joint is one of my favorite ones! The service is always great along with the food. There are a decent amount of seats inside and it's a great spot for a social meal with friends. Additional bonus points for being open late too! I always get their white cheese fries which are perfectly crisp french fries with powdered cheese. I also enjoy their chicken, both with and without bone. It does take a bit of a wait for the chicken but that's how you know it's fresh and definitely worth the wait. Sometimes the chicken can be a bit dry inside but it's usually pretty juicy and satisfying. It's not "cheap" and that's what some may not understand at first glance. The chicken is premium quality. The worst experience we ever had from here is once our chicken was very light on the amount of bbq sauce. This place is quite amazing. Truffle fries are not worth it. Spicy potstickers are great. A good variety of sauce options unlike the other competing korean fried chicken joints, which often only offer soy garlic or spicy. You can select several sauces for your chicken but will cost you an additional $2, however, they didn't charge us for our bowl of soy garlic and spicy bbq (maybe because it was our first time here), both which were very good. Although I do enjoy fried chicken, I finished my meal and left with a heavy feeling in my stomach only this much grease can give to you. There isn't much seasoning on the chicken; most of the flavor comes from the sauce that you choose. The sauce is drenched onto the chicken after it is fried. After the first bite, I had to keep dipping my chicken back into the main dish to get some sauce. I came here based on a friend's recommendation and we ordered what they were known for: chicken and fries. We weren't big drinkers so we didn't try the beer options. They boast that their chicken is USDA non GMO and cage free quality meat. We were approached by a group of promoters holding beer signs trying to get us to purchase beer but I wasn't interested at all. The space is a bit cramped between tables and the presence of these additional people made the evening even more awkward. The spot itself isn't very large however, we arrived at 8pm on a Saturday and were seated right away even with a group of about 8 seated right next to us. I've been coming here almost every week for the past 2 years. I've ordered pick up, been here at the strangest hours (3pm on like a monday), and during their busiest hours (12am on a friday/saturday). All I can say is their chicken has changed its recipe a few times and there has been a lot of changes to their menu. We always order the whole boneless chicken with two sauces which you have to pay extra for each. Their fries are delicious! I've tried all of them, the truffle, white snowing and yellow snowing cheese. I love the soy garlic wings with the bone-in. Why I'm not giving them a 5 star? I have a favorite server now - His name is Kevin and service is perfect when he's there. It was a pick up order and when I got to the place the worker was so nice, he made sure I checked my order before leaving the restaurant.
