The downside of this place is the pricing and the inconsistent sizes of the chicken wings. The way they price the sauce felt pricey. It's $2 per flavor and not dependent on the amount of wings purchased, which is what I'm used to at other places. I got 24 wings and wasn't able to do half half unless I pay $4 for the two flavors. The crispy chicken is the one to go for! On many occasions, I've accidentally got the original chicken and I am not a huge fan. I am a huge critic when it comes to fries and they have the best steak fries I've had in a long time, however the fries are inconsistent on which ones they use because they sometimes use fries that I don't like the consistency/starchiness/"skin" of the fry. Second time having it--and just as amazing as the first. The food is consistently top-notch. The first time I ordered in, and the second time I DoorDashed. Each time, the presentation was beautiful, and the chicken came out perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. I called ahead to make sure they'd include pickled radish, since many places forget unless you ask. The owner was incredibly kind--not only did they include it, but they gave me a larger portion. I also didn't select any sauce, but they thoughtfully added some on the side for me to try. The service has been outstanding each time, always going the extra mile--offering extra flavors to sample, being super friendly and attentive. You can tell they care. I did go on a Saturday, so many weekdays the wait is shorter. I suggest ordering before you go shopping if you don't plan to stay long. I got the boneless honey garlic wings, and it was the best sauce I have had in forever. Usually I like spicy sauces, but they were starting to taste like ramen flavoring so I didn't get it this time. The honey garlic isn't too sweet or salty. I could eat most of my boneless wings without getting too tired of the flavor. Wings automatically come with radish, which is my favorite. I can't eat wings without it. Their pickled radish is done just right. Not too vinegary, not too sweet, not too salty. My family got the original fried chicken and enjoyed it very much. Inside was a THIN piece of thigh meat(had I known I would have passed), with hardly any breading. Served on a generic hamburger bun with a small limp piece of romaine and a couple of pickle slices. The bbq sauce was decent, sandwich tasted ok, but not worth $11 nor a repeat visit. Came with small fries which were ok. The chicken here is so delicious. I have eaten here twice in the past week. I usually get the fried wings (Crispy), smothered in BBQ sauce. I also tried the fried wings in Original Spicy without any sauce. The difference between Original and Crispy and is that the Crispy is fried more. Also I do recommend the spicy version as they put spices in the breading itself which gives it a nice kick. It's not overly spicy so if you want more spice, then I recommend you get a spicy sauce with it. This location is inside Hmart's food court. It's a beautiful brand new Hmart location and is very spacious, clean, and beautiful. The pricing is a little high for chicken but the chicken was crispy on the outside and very meaty and juicy on the inside. Just tried Pelicana for the first time this weekend. The chicken wings were on the small side but tasty nonetheless. I preferred the "original" recipe because it's just as crispy as the "crispy" recipe but has a lighter batter. The "crispy spicy" chicken was not spicy at all. I actually had a hard time distinguishing between the original and the spicy because they taste pretty much the same and visually look identical without the sauce (unless they messed up my order?). The batter itself does not have much flavor so I was glad that we got the sweet & spicy sauce on the side which did have a bit of a kick. I think that Pelicana fried chicken is similar to American style fried chicken in terms of taste and texture, so although I did like it I personally would prefer getting Korean style fried chicken (like BonChon). Also, unlike other Korean fried chicken places, you cannot ask to split a large order of wings to be half original and half spicy and they also charge you extra for sauce. I was very disappointed in the sauce, but I clearly had amnesia, because when my mother ordered take out, without thinking, I asked for honey garlic on the wings. The wings were completely smothered in this sauce, and because it is very clear that the wings are not twice fried, they became soggy immediately. The mark of a great Korean fried chicken wing is that the skin should almost taste candied, while the chicken meat should remain moist and flavorful.
