My go to dish here is the Jajangmyeon or what you called noodles with black bean sauce. It is one of the best and the most authentic flavor you can find at any Korean restaurants in Philly. It's delicious! Noodles are chewy and perfectly balanced with the sauce. The fried dumplings were also good. You can tell that they make it fresh and new batch everyday. We also had Beef Tangsuyuk (sweet & sour fried beef) It was ok and too sweet for me. Services are great, even though they know little English. You gotta love the Ajumma there. This is a great place for family dinner. Good price with generous portions. We will definitely come back to try more of their food next time.

This place is legit. As a fellow korean who's had the real deal in Korea, it's safe to say I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about when it comes to a jajangmyun joint. Best place for korean-chinese food in the philly area. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Service is fast. And the food is really legit. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are in the mood for some good jajangmyun, come here and enjoy.

Stopped in on a Saturday evening- we tried the restaurant next door a few years ago and enjoyed it and figured we'd try a new place. We opted to split a few dishes that we've never seen on other menus- crispy spicy pork dumplings and a house special- black bean noodles. We were pleasantly surprised by the dumplings- the filling was flavorful and moist- accompanied by an assortment of peppers- no dipping sauce necessary. After quickly mixing up the noodles we topped the noodles with a little raw onion, pickled radishes and Korean pepper flakes - don't let the black bean colored pasta deter you, the sauce is packed with onions, and small pieces of pork and potatoes and it was delicious. We will definitely be returning and trying out a few new dishes.

This place used to be the only place for jjajangmyun/jjampong noodles but it didn't taste as good as before. My eulmyun lacked flavor so I had to send it back to get it remade. They politely did it over but I had to wait when my party already finished. I l think inside the food court in Philly Hmart has the trophy in this area if your in the mood for the noodles.

Best jajangmyeon place imo. And this combination of the noodle and the pork is just amazing! The tangsuyuk here is nothing like the common sweet and sour pork that you would get at a Chinese takeout. You can see the sauce here is clear unlike the usual orange color. For the noodle, if you like a thicker bean sauce, order the Gan jajang instead.

Any time all of us are in Philly, my sisters and I pay a visit to Yong Hwa Roo for some solid Korean food. [Food] My sisters tend to get the black bean noodles which are delicious and great in portion, while I get the jjampong. The jjampong appeals to me because of the warm broth and plethora of seafood. I love the little kick of spice from the peppers too, especially when I'm feeling under the weather. If you like to eat, this place is for you. The amount of food they give is generous to say the least. We shared the sweet and sour pork which is always quality! [Service] Now this is where the one star fell through ... The waitresses consist of your stereotypical Korean ajummas (middle-aged women). They're not mean, but they're not the nicest either. On our most recent visit, one waitress essentially shooed us off. In hindsight, we were finishing up our meals post-closing, so I don't blame her. My dad has had a few issues with them being a bit too blunt or impatient though.

Probably the best jjajangmyun in the Philly area. While I prefer Sang-Hi, it is a bit farther than I'd like. Yong Hwa Roo reigns supreme. Typically, I would get an order of fried dumplings and jjajangmyun, sometimes with a tangsuyuk or kkanpungi. The dumplings are always good. Jjajangmyun is solid, but I wish they would give some more pork! Otherwise, friendly and efficient service, and good food.

If you're looking for tasty jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, or jjampong, this IS the place to be! Trust me when I say this. Been going here for years and they never let down on the quality of their food or the service provided. Large portions + reasonable prices.

Can't say enough great things about this place! I found this little hole in the wall restaurant while surfing Yelp for Jajamyun. If you're ever craving Chinese Korean food, here's the place to get it! They are known for their tongsuyuk, jajamyun & jampong! I've been going here since pre-Covid so I did notice their prices going up a bit & their portions have gotten a little smaller.

Everything was delicious, from the apps to the dishes, and definitely very healthy portions! Service was pretty good as well, with attentive staff despite there not being a whole lot of them. The food is Korean-inspired with some fusion elements, and all of it was nicely executed. Fried chicken bites were a pretty big hit, and the pork buns were good as well - crispier than usual, but still really good. Toppoki was nice too, and have to say that calling it rice gnocchi is pretty smart to make it easier to understand outside the Asian POV. Kimchi paella was essentially kimchi fried rice, but tasty and filling, and the scrape off parts at the bottom, that's rice gold right there. I don't always eat rice, but when I do, I prefer slightly burnt at the bottom of a stone pot. Second visit, I went with fire chicken, which is tasty and has some kick. I did notice that my not Asian colleague was asked if he was sure about the three fire symbols, but I was not :P Space is pretty nice inside too, a nice combination of old and new; the bathroom was nice and clean, and the general feel inside is casual but elegant. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but would need to know much more about allergy protocols and awareness, which admittedly isn't always a strong point in Asian cuisine.

The restaurant is a very short walk and an excellent option for pre-theatre dining. I only had a couple items as this was lunch, and both were excellent: Mango iced tea - 5/5, not too sweet, an excellent choice for a hot summer day Pajeon - 4/5, solid offering, still nothing beats the green onion pajeon I had in Seoul Korea Bibimbap - 5/5, a generous portion of bibimbap ingredients and an option of gochujang or soy garlic sauce to add on top of the fried egg. Delicious! Service was great too, I'd happily come back and try more items from their menu next time I'm in the area.

The meats are of high quality, the side dishes always tasty, and staff super helpful. While I've never came to a BBQ place and didn't leave smelling of meats, the systems and venting they have setup does minimize that side effect of your visits nicely. We're never great at eating our money's worth, so the pay-as-you-go setup felt like a better fit. We got the favorite set for two, which ended up being plenty. The biggest highlight right away: they grill everything for you. KBBQ is just better when you can sit back and eat instead of managing the grill yourself. They also use a back grill to keep things moving, so there's barely any pause between rounds of meat. It felt really efficient. Also, the place is surprisingly clean and doesn't have that heavy "you're going to smell like smoke for the next 5 hours" vibe, which I really appreciated. Somehow they keep it all under control even with constant grilling. Service-wise, the staff were attentive and clearly working hard, especially since it seemed a bit understaffed. That said, my friend did feel a little uncomfortable at times. There were a few moments where it felt like we were being watched closely, almost like they were worried about a dine-and-dash situation, and we were asked multiple times if we had paid. I personally read it more as things being slightly disorganized with a small team juggling cooking, serving, and payments, but I can see how it might come across differently depending on how you interpret it. Food-wise, the meat was very good, but the banchan really stood out to me. The cabbage salad with a gingery soy dressing was super refreshing and cut through the richness of the meat perfectly. Free refills on banchan are always a win too. I also liked that the grill came with corn cheese, egg, and sprouts, nice extras you don't always get. The corn cheese wasn't as sweet as I expected, and the egg was a bit on the salty side, but still enjoyable. The tilted grill setup was another plus since it lets the grease drain away, so the meal didn't feel overly heavy like some AYCE spots. Overall, it was a really fun experience. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality and how easy the whole meal felt. Just something to be aware of with the service dynamic depending on how sensitive you are to that kind of thing.

We got the bulgogi hotpot, chicken feet, and seafood pancake. The bulgogi hotpot was packed with tender, marinated beef, fresh vegetables, and a rich, savory broth that came together perfectly. The chicken feet were well seasoned and gelatinous, very authentic in texture, and the seafood pancake was crispy on the outside with a soft, savory interior full of fresh seafood. The place feels authentic and they refill your banchan, which is always appreciated. The flavors are slightly less fermented and a bit more geared toward American palates, but still tasty. Since the hotpot is meant for two or more people, it's large and feels like both a meal and a bit of a show. The owner personally helped cut the meat and prepare the hotpot at the table, which was very hands-on and excellent service. It's located on the second floor, so it can be a bit tricky to find, but don't just walk past it. There are multiple TV screens around the restaurant showing both Korean and American channels, which adds a fun vibe. Everything is very reasonably priced, and I can't wait to come back. One note: we think we may have seen someone try to dine and dash. The staff weren't distracted and it didn't affect the service, but it's a reminder to always pay for your food and tip well. The place is clearly privately owned and not a chain, so it's important to respect that. Despite that, service was fantastic, and the food more than makes up for any small hiccups.

It just is not on the printed menu. Very cool, but also slightly chaotic. If you speak Korean, there is basically an unlocked menu situation. Same with tteokbokki. Not listed, but available. Love that for the insiders. The only downside is you do not really know all the prices ahead of time, and things ended up being a little higher than expected. It is right next to H Mart though, so prime real estate. The yukhoe came out still a tiny bit frozen in the center, but the seasoning was great. Nicely balanced sesame oil, garlic, a little sweetness. They mix it for you at the table which is a nice touch. We were mid mixing and they tried to take our picture which caught us off guard, but honestly it is a fair trade for how attentive and kind they were. Seafood tofu pot was a bit underwhelming protein wise. One shrimp and maybe two squid rings. Not exactly seafood heavy. That said, the broth itself had good depth and the tofu was silky and comforting. Service was warm and attentive the whole time. The space is super picturesque. Small booths with grills built into the tables, wooden frames, very traditional KBBQ vibes. Cozy and cute without feeling cramped. Overall, good experience. Just a little pricey and I wish everything was clearly listed on the menu. But vibes and service are definitely there.
