The restaurant was full and there was a short wait of about 10 minutes and when our name was called, we were promptly seated and ordered shortly thereafter. I ordered the chorizo omelette and a 1 "cream pancake" and my friend ordered the "Mexican breakfast"which was chilaquiles and beans, and a waffle. We both had iced tea. My omelette was decent. Not great, not bad, but OK. The home fries were OK as well - nothing special. My friend really enjoyed her Mexican breakfast, but commented the waffle was just ok. Same for my pancake. The iced tea we both ordered was very weak. Our server was friendly and made food recommendations and answered questions. Overall, this place was OK. Would I go back again? Maybe, but I would try something different. read more

This time visiting Pelton Cafe wasn't that great service was bad I would understand if it was really busy but it was only me and 2 other tables Server never came back to check on us I actually asked for an order Extra plate when she dropped our food but after our food was dropped she never came back to check on us. and the extra plate that I asked never came. the food is really good the chilaquiles verdes are awesome. I've been to this cafe over a dozen times but stopped going for a while after the parking situation got bad at the Pelton center. The food here is good, nothing super special but if your looking for a regular breakfast this is a good spot to visit. I always get the deluxe omelet or the classic breakfast when I come here. The last time I came, the waitress took over 10 minutes to come and take our order, I had to go to the counter and ask if we could order. My friend ordered her steak medium rare, and it came out medium well. My omelet came out warm, there was was barely any butter on the toast, and they had only grape jelly to offer. I asked for the hash browns to be crispy, it came out a little burnt on the outside, and mushy on the inside. Okay breakfast spot, but not my go-to or my favorite spot. read more

Once again, I tried to give Pelton another chance now that they are allowing indoors dining. Luckily they got my order right as Vanessa put no gravy!! to get the cooks attention. As I ordered grits, I like to eat them with milk and maple syrup. Simply asked for some and was surprised when I saw what it was charged. Ranch is usually 50 cents. A grilled Jalepeno is about $1.50 so why the upcharge to a small maple syrup. There's many other hole in the walls and I suggest you going instead of here. read more

Food is good! Our waitress vanessa was wonderful. She was very polite and friendly. The manager however, was not very friendly. Assuming she's the manager she is one behind the counter making all the decisions. I have a service dog and we came in and first they tried to get us to sit outside and we said no we'd like to sit inside. She's says "oh we have that table right there" and so we sat down and had our breakfast and left. Got a few glaring glances at me during breakfast. To Say the least, I probably won't be going back there as I always have my service dog with me and they are not very service dog friendly apparently. this was Thursday morning around 9 o'clock. read more

Had breakfast there on Sunday morning. It was 8:30, so the place was only about a1/4 full. Service was attentive and friendly. We ordered an omelette with well done hash browns and a waffle with fruit. When the food came, the hash browns were cold. We told the waitress and she took the plate away. A few minutes later she returned with hot, steamy, microwaved hash browns... No salt at all on the omelette or hash browns. The waffle was also just luke-warm, the ball of butter sat on the waffle like a yellow ping pong ball. The blueberries were fresh, so thumbs up for that. One star for the food, four stars for the service. The place has a nice vibe, decorated with lots of fun vintage items. They just need to let the kitchen know that customers prefer their food hot. read more

I ordered their special "Julisa's Raisin Cinnamon Combo (picture attached from the menu). And...as it states on the menu the item includes... " 4 halves raisin cinnamon french toast, 2 eggs any style and 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links or 1 sausage patty". However, the waitress only gave me the option to order either the bacon or sausage...but not both?! I asked her that it reads as it included bacon and sausage...and there was no "or." Pelton Cafe, you were defenitely one of my favorite places, but today seriously ruined my whole morning after breakfast. Just as reference if your kitchen staff gets an order wrong... Dont send your staff to give the right order and make your customer hand you back the bacon you guys added on the plate by accident. Out of manners you dont take the food back especially after I touched it. I wasnt going to eat the bacon, but it felt so unpleasant to hand your staff some freaking bacon! I was on my way to the airport and needed a home style heavy breakfast. I spent a lot 7of time deciding where to go. I am so glad I found Peltons. I would be a regular if I lived here. The generous portions were perfect in flavor. Before I could catch my server to tell him how I liked my omelet cooked it was at my table. And it was perfect. In the area today and stopped here with my boyfriend who'd last been here 6 years ago. He remembered enjoying the food here often. He got a ham, cheese, and mushroom omelet with whole potatoes and I got the steak frizzle deluxe sandwich with French fries. Both were delicious!! I would definitely eat here again!! The place was clean, including the restrooms. The staff were courteous and friendly. We swung by this establishment before our day at the Oakland Zoo, and the meal did a great job sustaining us throughout the day. I had a veggie omelette with hash browns, and the two of us split an order of French toast. Service was expedient, attentive, waiters and waitresses constantly patrolling with carafes of coffee, always ready to do refills. The food itself was good, a notch above your average diner food, and the portions were generous enough that I left satisfied with what I got for the price. Good food, great staff. Atmosphere is very welcoming and host/waitresses always take care of us when we come here. There is counter seating and booths. I ordered the eggs and bacon breakfast for $10, my order came out and there was one less piece of bacon than what was described on the menu. Waitress said she brought me the special which saved me a few dollars. Appreciated that she thought about that and cares enough to save the customer some money. I didn't need that extra slice of bacon anyway. One downfall is that the plaza now charges for parking, but you can find free parking nearby and walk over. read more

This place is so cute inside! I grew up in San Leandro but never really shopped or ate anywhere at the Pelton Center. Found myself with a client (touring homes) and we were hungry for lunch. There are many different cuisines to choose from but both actually wanted breakfast for lunch. They have Mexican and American dishes on the menu. A good variety. I had the cactus scramble nopales) with tortillas. It was so good! There is a lot to take in on the walls, there are old photographs of San Leandro people and places and also several old artifacts. The booths are old and wooden and the you really feel as if you stepped back in time....it would be fun to take kids here for a burger and milkshake. read more

Review for French toast combo: it just was Okay, was barely toasted so basically soft like bread, bacon was the small style pieces and my 2 egg order I requested well done , I told her well or over hard (but it seemed waitress didnt want to write, I said just put "well done" and came a bit uncooked , the bottom wasn't even crispy more liquidy style raw. This place is usually pretty good, maybe it was an off day when I went recently. My order was messed up by the kitchen, which the waitress caught and sent back before it made it to the table. When it finally arrived the poached eggs were not poached at all and were solid. I sent them back and the ones I received were practically raw, with runny egg whites. I had came to this cafe on Saturday, the day before Mother's Day. There wasn't many people due to the pandemic and my family ate indoors. We had came close to their closing time and we didn't really realize it until I noticed them cleaning up. The staff was very nice and didn't pressure us or even notify us. It felt like they wanted us to just enjoy the food and not worry to much. The food was absolutely delicious. My mother and I had first ordered mozzarella sticks, pancakes, and French toast since we were waiting for my sister to finish at the salon before ordering meals. The mozzarella sticks were amazing. The breading wasn't thick and it had that good mozzarella pull. I didn't eat any of the pancakes but my mother did say it was good. The French toast was one of the best French toasts I've had. It was delicious and when my sister did join us, I immediately recommended the French toast to her. I did order the 2 meals with a burger patty and house potatoes. The patty was a bit dry but the potatoes and the eggs were made just right for me. I would come back to this cafe and may be a regular just for the French toasts itself. What I love most is the staff and customer service. Every time I've gone to PC, the staff are attentive and polite throughout the entire conversation. Even as I made an over the phone order, the young woman who answered was very respectful and professional. PC's food is consistently delicious. I've only gone here for breakfast and everything I've ordered (eggs Benedict, omelettes, crossiant sandwiches) has been amazing so I imagine that there lunch and other options are just as good. We go to "Pelton's" every few months. Fantastic cowboy decorations everywhere with a Mexican flare. Some humorous decorations mixed with the old-fashioned ones too. Fantastic 1940s-style building. The food? Never had a bad meal, and our latest visit was the best yet. We usually get breakfasts, including eggs benedict, omelets, chicken apple sausage, and corned beef hash. We sometimes get burgers. Everything is good and nothing is greasy. We prefer some potatoes elsewhere, and we think the coffee could be better. But no restaurant is perfect. Friendly service, and it's fun how they wear Pelton Café t-shirts. read more

This is a cozy brunch spot! There was a line of people waiting to be seated but luckily it was just my friend and I so we were sat at the bar. My friend was very satisfied her her omelette. It's a típicos brunch spot with the usual menu, but I do have to say that their pancakes were special. They were sooo fluffy and soft!! I have been here for breakfast only. For breakfast there are a lot of filling options. I tried the Eggs Florentine with grits, or classic eggs, bacon, and hash browns. You won't be hungry for hours. Food arrives pretty quick, and we order food to go, for trapped office workers that are in need of food. For a classic breakfast place, I would recommend it. My friend and I just ate here this morning. To say this was not up to its usual quality, is an understatement. First, my order came without my friend's order. My hash browns were cold. My friends did not come at the same time as mine. They offered no comments or apologies as to why hers didn't come at the same time. Five minutes later hers came and had to be sent back because the poached eggs were overdone. Another 5 minutes before the that order came. Her hash browns were also cold and tasteless. At that point, they should have comped at least one of the meals. We have been coming here together for quite some time now. We will not be coming again! Quality control has vanished.
